Warning: Make sure you have backed up app important data you have on the phone before you reset the phone, because everything will be deleted.
From the Home screen, drag upwards
Select Settings > SD card, USB Mass Storage & phone storage > Factory data reset > Reset phone
Enter your screen unlock pattern
Tap Erase everything
Hard Rest
How strange,
I've read that before
but...
when I drag my screen up and go to
Settings --> SD card, USB Mass Storage & phone storage
I do not see any Factory data reset at all...
My problem is, when i use the 'real' keyboard, my screen freezes.. I can't use it.
But when I put my keyboard back again, my screen just unfreezes..
I've done a new software-update (same version ,.. 2.1 update-1 ) but
that wouldn't help too..
Tnx
okay!
then go to
settings-> privacy -> factory data reset
leme know if u have found out the option or not.. i will try to help u as much i can..
Hard Reset
Hi,
Tnx, i've found the option
but without any result
Tnx for the help, however..
Thijs
if u really want to thank then please click the thank button.. it what keeps us going in this forum.. sorry if i am being rude to ask u to do dis..
good day
anyways what exactly are ur problems.. list them.. i will see if i can solve it..
Hard Reset
Done
Wel,..
- My screen freezes when I use my 'real' keyboard. It doesn't respond any more
- On the right top of the phone, there's a little LED, which won't work any more.
- My screen slides around (so hard to explane). Sometimes my screen 'splits' into two peaces and the right part goes to the left and the left to the right.. If you understand what I mean.. (shouldn't be surprised if you doesn't but I can't explain any better)
okay
now this is completely a kernel related problem!!! except for the LED part..
if u are in stock rom (i.e u have not rooted your phone and using it the way it came) then u rush it immediately to the vendor coz it has got lot of "bugs"!!!
if u have a rooted phone and using a custom rom then wipe all data, cache, dalvik cache, sd ext and then flash your rom from recovery OR better still use another rom..
(if u dont understand this part then u have a unrooted phone for sure!)
ANYWZ before taking it to the vendor check out the list of things that causes this problems
1. software related:- some software u install causes this problem
2. updating:- if u updated your software from sony erricson's website then in certain cases this problem occurs..
3. if your phone is suddenly showing these strange behavoiurs then best thing is not to do anything yourself and take it to your vendor!!
WELL IF U R WILLING TO TAKE THE RISK THEN ROOT YOUR PHONE THEN INSTALL A CUSTOM ROM.. MIND YOU THAT IT WILL VOID YOUR WARRANTY AND WILL NOT B ACCEPTED BY YOUR MANUFACTURER! (HOW TO DO THIS IS JUST A SEARCH IN THIS FORUM, BUT I STILL ADVISE U NOT TO DO THIS!!)
GOOD DAY
Hard Reset
Hi,
No I don't understand that at all (A)
but I know one thing, the problems are getting worser and worser..
Now my screen ain't respond for an hour... I've tried everything but
it won't respond
rush it to ur vendor!
Hard Reset
I'll do,..
Tnx for your help

take a good look, the green LED should flash atleast ONCE....i had the problem when i was new to rooting and installing ROMS.....do this...
1. make your deskie/lappy fully prepared to flash your phone by SEUS, only requiring you to connect the phone in flash mode (even keep your USB to phone cord inserted to the computer)
2. power off the phone by holding the home+power key (& keep holding them, now press the back button).
3.release the power key but KEEP HOLDING THE HOME KEY and the back key...(if you release the home key, the cell will restart).
4. now connect the phone to the computer and hopefully it will connect in flash mode
hope this helps in solving your problem
if i helped you, kindly press the "THANKS" button

Hi there, phone screen remains black and no visuals after flashing rom, so I canrt see anything on screen or know what to do about it, pls help?
Details -
After flashing ROM from SD card via which seem to go well... ONLY that the screen is blanked out, no lights except the key lights, phone comes on, responds to touch by giving normal sounds like when I use flick the scroll lock and touch the screen etc (just because I know how the phone works) but problem remains that I cant see anything, so I cant even boot into recovery or download mode to flash again since its all black and dimly lit.
I have a B63M running Gingerbread 2.3.5 so I am not sure what model of HTC it falls under in case this question or similar has been asked already.
I was able to initially get into flash recovery using the mobile uncle tool which allowed me get into recovery, something that has been impossible using the stock recovery in b63m.
I backed up the ROM , cleared cache and daikvil cache then went on to flash ROM using an update.zip and then the touble I explained above.
This is a current situation pls I need help getting back up and flashing the right lattest rom for my phone?
Help me pls

Thanks for your response, yes I have gone the adb route and I was able to see my device in adb but once I say adb reboot recovery or adb reboot download, it restarts and reboots but again I cant see the screen so I have no idea what to do next or what really is happening on screen.
Maybe if you know how to proceed once in adb, you can share with me, this is frustrating me?
My nexus s keeps booting up like normal but then once it gets to my lock screen it shuts off by itself within 5 seconds. Sometimes I manage to put my password in and get onto my main screen but that's as far as I can get before it shuts off again. This continues repeatedly till the battery dies, turning on and shutting off by itself. This has been going on for 2 days now, since my phone died while at work and got home and charged it. When I took it off the charger when it showed a full charge it started happening, turning on and shutting off by itself and when the phone would turn on it would show low battery. As you may know this phone only has internal memory (no memory card slot). So what I'm trying to do is get my pictures and videos off of the internal memory before I do a hard reset which is what the sprint repair store told me was my only option to fix the phone but I would lose everything on there and there's absolutely no way to recover my pics and videos cuz the phone doesn't stay on long enough. Does anyone have any suggestions at all on how I could fix my phone WITHOUT doing a hard reset? I'm hoping to not lose these precious memories so I'd like to keep that as a very, very last resort. Any suggestions would be helpful and very much appreciated...

Bootloop... You flashed something wrong, modded/tweaked something wrong or overclocked and it wasn't stable... You need to go into recovery and do a CLEAN install of your rom and/or kernel.. if you used a mod/tweak this could have caused it... If overclocking DO NOT check to keep the settings after a reboot unless you are sure that these settings are stable..

im not sure what exactly i did but i havent changed anything from what originally came with the phone. (im still running on gingerbread) i had my phone on airplane mode so my battery wouldnt die while i was at work and somehow my phone died anyway then i put it on the charger when i got home and let it charge fully then turned it on and from the time i turned it on till now its been shutting off and turning on by itself. i guess the repair store told me its recycling itself?

Try booting into recovery.. Volume + and Power.. use the volume keys to scroll and power to enter.. the menu has an option for recovery (this does not do anything to your phone).. You may see a dead android,.. DON'T PANIC.. this is perfectly normal, you didn't break anything.. try pressing the volume up, then power, wait a sec and do it again.. (I always had an issue with the "stock recovery") the phone may power off or try to reboot.. (been a while, kinda fuzzy on this).. be persistent and keep retrying the fore mentioned steps and you should get a recovery menu.. Phew... Now the sad bit, you don't have any files you need on your phone.. I don't know if the stock recovery works with usb mounting, but it might.. try it.. if it does then download a custom recovery, I suggest the one in my signature, and copy from computer to phone using the usb.. in the recovery menu, after the transfer is complete, go to install / install from sd / choose the zip that you just put on your sd card / accept / and if you get this far then.. Reboot recovery, don't worry, nothing broken (yet).. lol.. In your new recovery, assuming it's the one I said, go to the advanced menu, (this is a touch version, so you don't need to use the volume keys) and select "fix permissions".. ... .. and reboot.. WORKED???
All is not lost (yet).. try wiping (ONLY) cache and dalvik(under advanced menu).. and reboot.. WORKED??
Okay, so if you are reading down here, either you are bored, or the above steps failed..
Use this program, read the forum as well..

You can keep your phone 100% stock, but you'll need to unlock it to fix it, then you can lock it back up if you'd like.. Not necessary though.. You might think about just installing a custom rom or upgrading to jb.. OOooh the possibilities..
But here's the problem, remember the (yet).. if you have come this far down in steps to restore your phone..
ALL YOUR DATA WILL BE LOST!!!

The first steps won't.. if you get to the unlock stage then yes.. As long as you keep it locked, you'll be fine.. If it won't let you flash a custom recovery, you can try the above steps in the stock...

Won't stay on, or the screen turns off.. ?? does the computer give a pop-up message saying that you had an issue when copy/pasting the file to the phone..??
Remember that we are working from recovery, not with the phone fully booted into your android os..

my comp isnt picking up my phone via usb...
update: now my phone isnt turning on at all, even when plugged in to charge or via usb... so does that mean im out of luck now..?
My nexus s has the same issue
brethren, I am sorry to drop in on the discussion like this but I don’t know where to get an answer from. My Nexus S (phone) has had a problem recently, it just keeps on turning on and off and mentions the “type password to decrypt storage”, if it remains on. I tried to factory reset the phone through the steps mentioned in the blog here:
1. Power off
2. Hold Volume + , volume - and power
You should get a green android image with the body opened with "Start" on the screen
3. Press Down till you get to recovery mode
4. Press power
Phone will reboot. You will then get same image of android (smaller) with red warning triangle
5. Wait a minute or two and then press volume + and power (not sure exactly what I did for this maybe it's just waiting)
6. Use volume down to select wipe data/factory reset and hit power
Select Yes - delete all user data and hit power
7. Once done select reboot system now and hit power
You are now back to zero and can start again
But it does not work. I will be obliged if someone helps me out
Thanks
I have this Desire S (1 year old), which haven't been rooted or anything (as stock as it can be), but for a few weeks back it started to vibrate eventhough the screen was off (when you touch the screen), but it's just sometimes.
Do you know what could be wrong with it?
Thanks in advance

Warranty ended? S-off the device and flash a ROM. My mom's phone started acting up as well, music would play after each call, force closing every app and player didn't help. Flash a rom and no problem since then.
From my DesireDS
Yes, the warranty ended 6 months ago Do you think it would help to do a factory reset on the phone? It's just that, it's my girlfriend's phone, and I don't think she's much up for it...
Thanks in advance

David
Ya u could definitely go for that troubleshoot of factory reset. Do backup ur phone/contact/sms before doing so. Everything would be wipe except sd of course.
U could also try wiping dalvik and cache first. I have no memory of stock recovery.
If u have the drivers install, enable debugging, using cmd adb reboot recovery.
If not, disable fast boot, If not mistaken this option is under battery. Off the device, hold on to vol down button as u power on the device it should bring u to the bootloader, select recovery from there.
Just wanna ask, the phone is still gb or is it ics?
From my DesireDS
It worked! I just used the hard reset method (bootloader menu).
The phone is still on GB (2.3.5) unfortunately, HTC haven't released any newer version yet (and don't think they will...)

Need help...
Was messing the around with the screen density in the buildprop.. after reboot, "systemui keeps FCing" making it unusable and I cant do anything. Attempting to do a hard button combo to go into stock recovery but cant seems to get it to work.. Googleing tells me to, hold volume down and power till the LG logo, release power and rehold again.. it just reboots again.. holding all 3 brings me to a korean menu that I cant read.. holding up and power brings me to a recovery menu that I think only the service centre can use, there's no option in there, only asking me to reboot.
Any kind souls please....

I've been trying to get into my stock recovery for some time now trying all sorts of button combos but to no avail. Previously I had the g2 and when it updated from jellybean to kitkat, the combo for entering stock recovery changed however, this new combo doesn't seem to work on the G Pro 2 either
You should be able to revive your device back to stock using the LG pc Suite however, after tampering with the system, it is often necessary to perform a factory reset after the pc suite has done it's work which will need you to enter stock recovery.
If you are completely stuck, I would suggest restoring your device using the pc suit and, all being well, your device will boot sufficiently for you to perform a reset through the phone settings menu. If you are really lucky, it may boot properly and you may not need to perform any reset however, it would still probably be a good idea to do so.

I had tried everything.. Even adb command to reboot into recovery. It just brings me to a broken Android with red triangle. I am starting to think there is no stock recovery built in that is accessible to users..
I am now at the service centre. Well the guy can detect that its rooted.. voids warranty.... But will try to see if he can help to reflash the firmware.. If not have to change hardware and will be chargeable....... Fingers crossed. He did say users are not able to access the recovery..
Guys.. Until there's custom recovery, pls dun mess with it.....
That is really bad. I am stuck at bootloop and unable to reach the recovery mode. I wonder how entire web just talks about a hardreset process that doesnt even work

Glad you were able to get your phone back. I have some positive news. I am trying out a recovery method as we speak. Using the LG Software update & USB driver tool I found the option for a update recovery. So I gave the IMEI and it prompted for a connection to the device which wasnt there as the phone is stuck in a boot loop. So I thought if it is going to restore the firmware from PC ( and not OTA) then it at some point of time will take the phone to download mode. So I just put the phone in download mode and VOILA it recognised the connection. And right now it is downloading the recovery firmware. The firmware being downloaded is around 1.5GB which is exactly what size I expected it to be. I have my fingers crossed. Just hope it goes through fine.

As I mentioned in an earliar post on this thread, you can usually get the device into a booting state using the lg pc suite. You will probably have to perform a factory reset but, hopefully, after using the tool, you can access the software factory reset in the settings menu. From past experience with other lg devices, it can often help if you run the recovery more than once in the pc suite.

Hi Bob,
Yes I think the same option is there in the LG PC Suite as well. But unless you do what I have tried to do it wont recognise a device that has not booted yet. Devices soft-bricked or bootlooping wont be recognised by the PC suite for recovery. But thanks for the tip. I'd keep that in mind and see if it'd need another factory reset after recovery. But it seems like it will be a hard reset done by the recovery happening right now

Good luck. If no joy just try the pc suit. I'm fairly sure I had a success on my old g2 with a similar problem to yours. Can't remember exactly what I did but I kept trying things and eventually the pc suit recognised and sorted my device. Perhaps try to adb reboot recovery with the pc suit on screen??
PC suite and the software update thing didn't work for me. It just refuse to recognize my device. Hope things work out for u!

Thanks. I was able to revive my phone. No loss of apps and data. Just the root was lost. Can you tell me what issues you have witnessed after such a recovery that made you to do a factory reset? The phone looks fine at the moment but wonder if it'd end up in a boot loop again.

You shouldn't have a problem. I just like to have a clean start and to make sure that there are no alien files left from my previous tampering.

It went all smooth. I'd like to shout out to all LG G Pro 2 users to make a note of this method and try it whenever they soft-brick their phones.

Hi there,
I am in the same situation, I can not do the factory reset in any way was mentioned here (pc suite, lg update) in the forum, because there is no connection between the pc and the mobile.
Where you from anyway and which mobile service did you take your phone, how much was the service cost?
THX
