A sales guy at 02 told me that they would be releasing the Polaris on the 3rd Jan, 2008 in the UK for the new year with new tariffs, can someone confirm this? I can't mind it being mentioned any where on any site.
It is listed in the Coming Soon section as Orbit 2. Don't trust the picture though since it's more likely will look like this.
Yeah so it looks like it will be coming out on the third of Jan, thanks.
Was told the 18th of Jan last week
The more realistic date for release in UK will be end Jan or early Feb.
Cheers
LB
It's in their latest brochure now....
I was told it would available around mid Jan.
No TomTom however - just CoPilot and thats only on certain tariffs
I'm on an O2 Corporate tariff through my employer. According to the "Coming Soon" spreadsheet they send us the Orbit 2 will be available W/C 21st Jan.

I see this one is all black nice. I would've considered O2 but they don't have good data plans.

Same, t-mobile looks promising though...
o2 data plan is now 7.50 for unlimited (200MB) - since november.
this is a lot better than the 15 quid for 36MB that i have been paying!
yeah the black version on o2s coming soon page looks very very nice
Expansys are offering the TC on O2 contracts !
If you don't want the Orbit 2, this seems a good alternative !
Here's the link:

O2 prices look.. pricey
Looks like o2 are pricing the Orbit 2 quite high compared to v1 ??
I think the Orbit 2 looks better than the Cruise which I was after but I ideally wanted it on TMobile as webnwalk is less restrictive.
Anyone know how good O2's data plan is? Or are Tmobile taking on this device anytime soon?
thanks
o2 £7.50 for 200Mb

thanks - am I right in thinking that you cannot use it as a modem or use messaging/streaming etc on O2? TMobile have a webnwalk plus but Im not sure how much I will use these features.... hmmm decisions.
I use my XDA Orbit (Artimis) as a modem when I'm on the train, much better than IE on the phone

But it appears more expensive than the Orbit will be for the same monthly rate

Now that looks sweet!
I've been following the Touch Cruise threads for a while waiting for a release on a UK network, and the O2 Orbit 2 looks the bees knees. Only problem is I'm on Orange with an unlimited data plan, 1000 minutes, 300 texts, insurance and free answerphone, all for around £50 per month and fear O2 won't be able to match this.
I'd swap to O2 for this phone if the 3G coverage is as good as Orange. What can I expect from O2's 3G service?

Just checked the O2 website and the XDA Zinc is on the coming soon list due for release in Jan. Did some research and this looks like the handset to replace my Mini S (wizard).
Anybody have a Zinc yet? What are your thoughts?
I'd quite like to get this however I'm not sure about sticking with o2. The MDA Vario II on T-Mobile seems much more attractive with the web and walk tariff

Totally agree but T-Mobile call quality/coverage is crap compared to O2 (in London at least!).
Is it possible to get a Blackberry tariff and use it in an xda? I've noticed that they have unlimited data tariffs at reasonable prices, but I'm not sure if it would work in an xda and if it covers that type of data usage
not sure, good shout though. I was even considering get the handset and picking up a 3 sim card, they have got good deals at the mo and also offer unlimited data access. Not sure the sim would work in the handset though.....
Just spoke to customer services, release date is 15 Jan however no new data packages
I rang o2 and asked them if they could match the T-Mobile offer. They said for £36 a month I could get 36mb of data. They pretty much told me to go with T-Mobile...decided that's what I will do!

I had a simular conversation, my contract is up in jan so i will have to reconsider.
Also does anybody know if the Zinc has a jog wheel / dial like the TyTyn?
does anybody have any links to reviews of this handset ?
just spoke to O2 and the new release date is March! even though their website still says jan!
I currently have a T-Mobile MDA III (aka: Artemis) which i paid £60 for on a 12 month contract @ £15 per month. Any how my contract is now finished so im entitled to an upgrade or reduce line rental... or i could move to another operator. I like the look of the HTC Cruise but i cant see this model on T-Mobiles website, only the MDA Touch & Touch Plus.
Which UK operateors ([email protected] 02, vodafone, Orange, etc) sell the Cruise. Also anyone seen any good monthly contracts for upto £25 a month.
Hi there,
You can try o2 they have xda orbit 2 which is really a the same as a touch cruise in a slightly different casing.
check it out on their website. And find their tariff for orbit 2 .
Good luck.

You can get the O2 Orbit 2 for £49.99 and pay £30 a month for 24 months. This includes 600 minutes, 1000 texts and the Unlimited Web bolt on. Any less a month and the phone becomes rather expensive. Nearly as much as the £270 I was quoted for a Tmobile upgrade from Vario II to Vario III!
Go here, http://shop.o2.co.uk/tariffs/24_months select the online 30, change the bolt on, and select the Orbit 2 in the phone section.
I got mine from expansys - awesome t-mobile deal. Phone was free on a web n walk package giving me unlimited data use on an 18mth contract, £35 a month. I think they have started charging for this package now though. Much better than O2 as you get the proper HTC model and not the poxy O2 casing
wow thats expensive
O2 gave me the Orbit 2 free,
600 mins
1500 txts
unlimited data bolt on
for just £20 a month

I think you have to be in some secret society - everyone seems to get fantastic deals, but won't say how!
they call this society ''select customers'' on o2 this deal was presented through upgrade retentions team and being o2 customer for years .so therefore is not available to new customer but will be once completed contract terms

Thought it was! will still go with O2, as Tmobile don't seem interested in keeping me on. Thanks 4 the info.

T-Mobile will carries Diamond
I read somewhere that HTC Diamond will be coming to one of the major wireless carriers in the U.S, and it will likely be t-mobile. I hope they are right, because for $299 with 2 years contract for this beauty with T-mobile. How sweet is that?
You have to be having a laugh, a two year contract and purchase price of $299 they are taking the p*ss
I wouldn't bother to be honest it is a lot of cash for a yesterday type device, the spec just doesn't come up to the standard I would need to switch from the 18 month old P3300 Artemis or either of the newer devices I am currently using - Mike
All i can see at the moment is Vodafone business, and with unlimited internet only on an 18month contract, im not interested
Really want a 12month contract with an unlimited data allowance.
T-Mobile seem to be monging about now, got them but wont sell them.
Anyone know about O2 and orange???
can forget about 3 there latest phone is a N95 hmmmm.

Now the Vario IV has been released how much did you pay for an upgrade?
T-Mobile UK want £230 for me to upgrade ! I thought the upgrade deals were supposed to be much better this month. I was told it should be cheaper once its released on the T-Mobile website. I will also loose my free eves and weekend calls, if I don't get a better deal soon I'll move to Orange and get the Touch HD.

And how did you get that? I am on the same contract (minus Family Discount whatever that is) and they want £50 for the phone.
Do we really always have to ask to close the account before we get made the best deal?

Friends and family discount is offered to employees and up to a certain number of people they are allowed to give it to ... i got mine back in 98 or 99 i think , and its lifetime , i am not sure the newer ones are .
I didn't hassle or even need to ask they just quoted me as it being a free upgrade , i paid 50 last time round for my vario 3 so even i was a little surprised considering i am now on a significantly lower tarrif than the anytime max i used to be on .
However customers have a discount profile depending on length of time and spend with the company , very similar to most companies where you spend lots regularly for a non essential service or goods ... i suspect my 18 years with them may help my discount profile a little .
