Benefits of a upgrade

Hi all,
I've been checking this forum for a week or so now and the only thing I cant seem to find info on is...
What benefits do you get if you upgrade your Magician to the latest rom?
Does it get rid of the camera speckles and snow? Or do I still need to download that camera fix?
Does it enable me to use MP3s as ringtones? Or do I again need to download another file?
What other features do I get from upgrading? If any?

Mr. E you can use MP3 as ringtones on all ROMS even if you have the very oldest, 1.01. Just copy the Mp3 file to the /Windows/Rings folder.

I did that but it didnt do anything. Is there some sort of special way of selecting the file for a ringtone?

By the way, if you have no issues with your existing rom and you're happy with all aspects of your phone and it's running stable, then don't bother upgrading.

As for the camera... I guess just download the camera fix.
From what your saying Jimmy-bish the rom updates dont give you anything worthwhile then?

If you have 1.11 or earlier rom, U may encounter the famous "bluetooth not found" problem. Is it worthwhile enough? :twisted:

Yeah, sometimes it comes down to the individual phone. Heaps of people complained about that bluetooth and GPRS issue with 1.11 rom. I had it once, so I kept the same rom as I had no problems with that and just upgraded the radio to 1.13. Problem solved.
If you notice bugs or errors on your phone, search the forums and if everyone says it's the rom version that's causing the problem then upgrade. If you aren't experiencing any problems and can't be bothered upgrading all the time, you aren't missing too much. Most of the time it's just bug fixes and slight improvements, which can often be found through the forum without having to upgrade (camera patches and improvements, extended rom applications etc).

Install the snowfix file and this will change all the relevant setting to do away with the speckles etc. Can't remember where I found this so can't give authors name.

I did download the new camera from here... not the snowfix. The camera didnt seem to change anything tho, so im guess I need this snowfix too?
Problem with me is that I always want to have the latest update... so more than likely I will install the new update onto my Magician anyways...
I put that MP3 ringtone fix on, thanks heaps for that. Is there anyway of using a MP3 when you get a SMS?

Snowfix is just a case of turning down sharpness and saturation etc, i think.

Question, anyone know how to make the MP3 ringtones louder? With my phone volume right up its still kinda quiet, if I play it through the Media Player it sounds at the same volume until I turn the media player volume up to 100%... thats about how loud I would like it.
Is it possible without having to up the volume on a PC based app?

That is exactly what it is, but its still better then the standard camera settings.

Now I have seen somewhere, that someone had the same problem as I am having and that was the SD card is coming up as 128mg but its actually 256mg... someone had some sort of format program for the SD card... anyone have that? As my PC wants to format it as 128 when it clearly says on the card that its 256...

btw: you can use mp3 as rings without any other prog. just associate mp3-files with mediaplayer, copy desired file to windows/rings and choose it in the normal ringtone dialog. the built in volume slider (telephone one, not loudspeaker one) works for me, too.

Have installed this little app and trying out the features which I find interesting but my Bluetrek G2 headset is not shown in the drop down list box in the audio tab.
Is it possible with this add-on installed to listen to music thru the BT headset?

I used Himalaya with WM5 and Motorola HT820.
How it works:
1. After install delete your paired Headphone, hten pair again. You get a new Service called Audio.
2. In the new Tab "Audio" select you Headphone.
3. Softreset
I was searching for that for so long! THANKS!!!!!

I don't think this works on the Jasjar, I am now going to hard reset my phone it stuffed up all my audio, I should have asked first.

However, there are still some problems!!! The stereo streaming audio over bluetooth headset (HT 820) gets pausing after a 1 minutes or 2 mintues or sometimes 30 seconds!
My xda II (WM5.0 1.62c 07CHS) can transfer streaming audio to HT 820 stereo bluetooth headset already without using this addon, but the above problem is suck!!!!
I have heard from someone say that my cpu is too fast and I have to slow it down by using hack master. I have done it but no luck!!!
Anyone can help????

Never heard about a CPU beingt too fast to do whatever it needs to do.

My BA's bt disconnects when the ba goes off (automatically after 2min) and wont come on when the ba comes on. I also use HS820. how do you go about yours?

I installed this patch but it's now causing many troubles specially on soft reset...I tried to remove it from the Control Panel (Remove Programs) but it fails and says it's not removed completely & if i want to remove it from the installed programs list so i chose NO...Is there any way to get back to the old BT module or should i go to the painful Hard Resst..

I know of some old Dos games that was ment to run on a 80286 (a what ?!? ) that can't really run well on a Pentium: The cars drive way to fast :lol:

Microphone problem

Hi guys. I have been having some problems with the microphone during a call. And I was wondering if it happened to any of you guys. Or if your know how to fix it
When I am I a call, the person I’m speaking with can’t hear me good because they hear all the noise in the room or the surrounding
I’m using octavo´s newest rom but it happened with almost every wm6 rom or since I remember.
The radio rom that I use is 2.07.10 that is the original from the qtek wwe rom that have no missed calls for me
I’ll appreciate any information that you can provide me to fix it..

You can always try newer RADIO ROMs!
Im using 2.25.11 from TMO and there is 2.69 and the newest 2.71. You can find 2.71 in the Boring ROM thread.

Newest is not the best
The newest Radio ROM is not necessarily the best. It seems by what I read mostly here and my own 14min of experience, that the TMobile UK 2.19.11 is the most stable.
As for the volume settings here are some registry settings that I found somewhere here several months ago. They have the default settings and point to the settings I use. You'll notice 4 keys with the name AUDIOGAIN, All of the settings should be the same in all of the registry keys. I think the one you should be playing with is the "INTERNAL_RECORDING_GAIN"=hex:06". I havent messed with that one too much. I was having the same problem before my current flash. Mine works great with my current TNT 1933 Pro with 2.19.11 radio.

HTC Equilizer on Magician (anyone got it to work)

I have tried to get HTC Equilizer 1.02 to work on Magician.
The CAB file instals OK, I created the required link & the software runs.
Now for the but. Any changes made to the equilizer settings make no change to the sound through the headset.
Anyone got this working on a Magician.
I'm currently using the DSP.exe but thought this HTC specific equilizer might be better !!

i think that app works on wm6.
although it will install properly but will not work.
dsp_en.exe which was in magician forum is the best we can get and in fact i really like it.

Bluetooth problem... Rom problem? Registry problem? any solution?

Hi everyone!
I’ve been using the “So Hot Rom Diamond build 19214 (made by Hongkong in PDAVIET.NET)” for a month or two and these are the facts:
-Great battery life
-Good performance
-About 25-30Mb free memory
-Nice looking rom (love the Diamond look-a-like watch and icons on the HTC Home)
-Very stable interface
-WMP plays any video format
-And so other stuff…
Everything OK, until I want to receive any file via Bluetooth o IR… here comes the trouble: I can send perfectly files, but I cannot receive anything… OBEX checked, is on, receive beam checked, is on, softreset a few times, hardreset once, but it keeps me saying that there is a communication error. It seems to be a “real” problem.
So, I’m wondering if somebody can help telling me if there’s a solution for these issue or not… maybe it’s a Rom problem, a registry problem o what?
Plz! Any answer is welcome!
