Any new Radio upgrades? Just started w/probs? - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III Windows Mobile ROM De

Lately I've been having a hard time dialing out and picking calls up. Long pauses and nothing happens. This is new for me and my tilt. I have the HTC ROM on it.
I've read around before about some of the radio updates but most people were having serious issues upgrading the radio.
There is a way to JUST update the radio without erasing everything right?
I'll go read now, anything anyone can do to help save me some time would be great.
Thanks

The only radio upgrade I've seen for the Tilt so far is included with the latest AT&T rom floating around on the upgrade forum. Kyphur's XDA-Live 1.x rom is built off of the latest AT&T operator rom, so it includes the latest radio stack that "works" with the Tilt.
There is a version of the radio seperate from a rom available on the forum, but as of right now it only works on roms based off of the AKU 0.4.4. The radio can be flashed to devices running other roms, but you will lose all in-call audio.
I'm sure that the master cooks here are working on porting the radio to other roms, but for now, unless you are willing to flash XDA-Live or another rom built on AKU 0.4.4, you're stuck with the radio you have now.
(Of course if my information is wrong, please correct [not flame] me)

Bluetooth Problem - can make call but not receive

HI all,
I have a ProWave car kit which runs the phone audio through the car radio. I can make a call perfectly but when receiving one I can hear nothing. I can only think that it's some problem with the Bluetooth.
I'm running ROM 1.12.00 WWE, Radio 1.12.10, Protocol Ver 1337.42 and ExtROM 1.12.171 WWE

Why start another thread if there is already one with an All-in-one guide in it? Please search first before posting.
The thread that you referred to started by talking about phones modified with Modified/Bigstorage Roms but I never messed with mine and so, didn't read the post any further since I didn't think it was applicable to me.
C
Bluetooth has nothing to do with Big Storage ROM since BS is just a way of making use of the Ext ROM which is invisible by default in shipped ROMs.
In any event my problem still hasn't been solved. I downloaded the patch but no joy. Is the radio ver the part that controls the bluetooth in which case should I upgrade the radio to 1.13 and then run the patch on it ?
C
Yes, BT is within the Radio ROM. What patch are you referring to? I've been using Radio 1.13 for quite some time now without any problems. I never had problems also with Radio 1.12. In both cases I never installed any BT patch.
I installed the "Default_BTHUSB_PATCH_AKU26.CAB" file as referred to in other posts. Can I upgrade the Radio ROM to 1.13 without updating the main Rom ? Where would I find the appropriate ROMs ? Can I get a Radio 1.13 ROM on it's own ?
C
If my memory serves me well, that BT patch was for meant for very early ROMS like 1.06. Yes, the Radio ROM can be upgraded without touching the Main ROM. It's been 2 years since I did an upgrade, I think 3rd party programs already installed and data will be lost because the device must be in bootloader mode to install the radio upgrade. I haven't fully checked but most ROMs can be found in wm-gurus.com (registration required), so it is possible that the stand-alone Radio ROM is ready for download.

Stock HTC rom and Radio Questions

It looks like the stock HTC rom comes with the radio I already have - 1.27.12.11. I really like the stock HTC rom, but after 3 days of using it on my first Tilt, the phone went belly up after a night on the charger. I think this had nothing to do with the ROM, but I'm still scared now.
Does this mean that my phone network will operate EXACTLY how it does now with the stock ATT rom - 1.57.502.2 - as long as the radio version is the same? I've been through hell with ATT the last week (first week of my service). Phone would not work at my house with full service (neither my or my girlfriends Samsung phone would work, so it was for sure a network issues for them)... So i want to make sure my kaiser stays working.
If it does work exactly the same, should I try to upgrade to the 'better' radio - 1.27.12.17? Is it worth it? Or if it works with the stock HTC rom should I just stay?
This is the only HTC stock ROM right? The one I should use? I'm just worried because my first Kaiser bricked after 3 days of use after flash. It worked fine for those days --->

I am not sure if I am correct here, but from what I have read the AT&T ROMS use different radio drivers, and so a different radio is needed when using the At&T ROM. There is a lot of information about each radio in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=349375 (it says which ones will work with HTC ROMS and which ones will work with AT&T ROMS). If you want the AT&T stock ROM, just download it from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=1635602&postcount=1 and it will flash the radio that works with that ROM as well.
If you want to flash a different ROM, why not try a ROM that has been cooked, but is not made for AT&T. Q-Mobile or one of Dutty's variants should do. I am using Dutty's and its great. If you like the stock ROM that much, I would just keep it because, like you said, your other phone dying most likely had nothing to do with the ROM.
So, in the end... will the radio 1.27.12.17 (newer radio) work with the stock HTC rom, and should I try it?

Most current AT&T Tilt ROM?

I'm having trouble with my Tilt (it recently started being randomly unresponsive to commands (15-20 second lag some times). Is there going to be a new AT&T 6.1 official ROM with updated drivers? My device has the 8-25-07 ROM date, and before I decide what to do I'm checking on the status of official AT&T releases.
No, as far as I know, there isn't an official one yet. However, a lot of the cooked ROMs on this site will probably fix your problem.
If you can't wait for the official ATT WM6.1 release then you could try their latest WM6.0 release http://www.htc.com/us/FAQ_Detail.aspx?p_id=67&act=sd or as mentioned, could try a cooked ROM.
upgrade ur hardspl and the lags/freezes will be gone.

Looks like he is still using an old Stock ATT Tilt ROM (WM 6.0), so that is not likely the issue.
@ gmfeld. If you have had your Tilt for a quote some time, it is possible that you simply have some junk, or orphaned registry settings, or something slowing your system down.
I would recommend either upgrading your ROM to the latest Stock ATT Tilt ROM (as posted above), or simply doing a Hard Reset to get your current ROM back to its original state. Of course, do a BACKUP before you do anything that involves Hard Reset or Flashing!!!1
I just got my tilt and I think I have a newer official version.
It is
ROM 1.62.502.0
Date 01/17/08
Radio 1.27.14.09
I've noticed it has a bluetooth headset issue (not sure if it is exclusive to mine) where it will end the call, but won't hang up in the phone program.
gmfeld & vanisher,
I would suggest you at least run PPCPimBackup then a hard reset. If you have a little time this weekend you should read through G.W.E.N.I. then flash a nice cooked ROM. Play with your device and post educated questions in the proper threads. You WILL appreciate your device more than you ever did...guaranteed.

The above is a noob success story. I would recommend you go the same ROM route as he did as for starters.
There is no official AT&T WM6.1 ROM yet, but we're getting there.
Check the shipped ROMs section on the wiki to see how new / old your ROM is.

Thanks to all for all the suggestions. I've been running SKTools, so I'm pretty sure I've gotten rid of all the junk and orphaned registry settings, etc.
I agree with all that I need to flash a new ROM, or reflash my original ROM, that's the only thing left to do to clean up my Tilt. Just trying to get some info on when or if a new official AT&T 6.1 ROM is to be released, so I don't go through that process twice. If I knew that its a ways off, I will probably then go with one of the cooked ROMS now.

radio upgrade after duttys upgrade?

upgraded mda compact iv rom to duttys 3.5a, fone information doesn't say the radio was upgraded, did duttys 3.5a contain a radio upgrade, should i have upgraded the radio first, will uprading the radio wipe out duttys 3.5a is the radio upgrade v1.00.25.05 really needed and how will it help?
If the radio stayed the same after a ROM flash, then chances are that there wasn't an included radio. You can upgrade the radio at any time and if you have no troubles with the current one, just stick with it.
You would have to read his post to see if the radio was included in the rom (you didn't give enough information for me to be able to tell you, i would also have to read on it. every rom is different and differetn for every phone), you can flash a radio by itself if it was not included. If you don't flash the appropriate radio you can have problems with your phone such as: Camera not to work, to have a black screen, to have no sound or intermittent sound. (extreme examples)

Problems with Orange Radio ROM

Hey,
Im having problems with my radio ROM (atleast I think its the radio ROM which is the problem).
I have flashed my ROM to Schap's 4.31
I used HardSPL first btw!
The new ROM seems to work fine, except I can't hear people when they ring me, and they can't hear me. And the signal disappears completely sometimes. Also the camera doesn't work.
I had read a good bit before flashing my ROM, so recognised this as most likely being an issue with the Radio ROM.
After some more reading I tired Kaiser Radio 1.65.21.18 and then after some more reading im now on 1.65.16.25 (which the guy in the orange shop today confirmed as the correct ROM for my phone)
And although the issue with the signal seems to have improved if not gone, I still can't hear people, and they cant hear me. Camera still doesn't work.
Am I being a total prat and have missed something noobishly obvious? This is my first WM Phone, and had really tied to read everything so this wouldn't happen!
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers,
Keith
This really seems a Radio problem. Try to flash some other radio. It's really quick to flash a new radio so try it some times until you find a good one.
Also, go to the Schap's 4.31 threat and see what SPL and Radio the cooker recomends and the "users" of that ROM using.
Don't forget to read the Ultimate Radio Threat here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=393182
Your answer you need could be already there and probably you haven't the need to open a new threat.. that I suppose will be closed as soon some mod read it.
Good luck
I'm using the 03-12-08 Hyperdragon Blackstone Build on my Orange UK Tytn II with Radio 1.65.24.36 and cmonex's HardSPL 3.29 and all is perfectly well with mine
Flash a stock rom
If you still get problems try flashing an old stock orange rom from the Wiki and see if that fixes things. The stock roms should have the oem/original radio with them. Hopefully then your'll be able to check if the problem is hardware or software, but it does sound like you need to find a compatible radio.
Schap's 4.31 is WM6 as far as I remember and you are trying to use radio for WM6.1
Try to flash 1.27.12.17
