Hi,
I flashed WM6 - crossbow 1.5 - on a french qtek so I have a french keyboard. I tried to change the registry with the registry editor Total commander; I opened the program on the device and went to [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Keybd]. I created a New String Value name: Locale; I typed in the Value Data: 040c (for french keyboard) and I held the powerbutton for a few seconds until asked if I really wanted to switch your device off, and clicked on YES then restarted it...
and I am still in QWERTY mode when I type on my AZERTY keyboard :-(
Any ideas?
Cheers,
GG

Did you wait 30 seconds to 1 minute before turning off the phone? In WM6 registry entries can be lost if you change them then immediately soft reset the device. Is your registry change still there? If not try again. If it is, I'll have to defer to someone that knows more about switching the keyboard type.
thanks for your answer.
I indeed for sure did not wait any time before soft reseting the phone
Althoug now I waited one minute... it still not working
I am locked into an english keyboard. I can see the registry entry being there and being the one I made and .. not working...
Should I change anything else to make it work?
Thanks for helping me in advance
Cheers,
GG

hi,
can anyone tell me how to disable T9 perminently via a reg hack? i am using wm6 and i have done the alt-space bar command, but sometimes at power up the t9 mode restarts and does not allow me to enter numbers so i cannot unlock my device and end up hard resetting it. i think this will be easier then bypassing the device lock password.
thanks
If you want to enter numbers, you should be able to just hold down the button that has the number. For example, to enter a "2" press and hold "E".

there isn't one as far as i know.
on the S621, you just press the FN key and SPACE bar key together and you can choose your default input.

i take it you didnt actually read the very first post in this thread.......thanks for trying but reading the question usually leads to a better result, lol
Strange... mine stays off with alt-space until I turn it back on -- through multiple reboots, even after one of those endless-rebooting sessions...
my problem is random. it will work fine for a couple of reboots, then lock up, or sometimes it will not get past the first reboot. very frustrating as i am on the road all day i rely heavily on my smartphone. looks like i will be waiting for a rom upgrade
I Have a S620 Italian..
How to activate T9 or similiar?
Thanks
to turn t9 off on an S620 wm6

You can use CeRegEdit to edit your registry from your computer
still waiting for a way to completely disable T9
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Tegic\eT9\IME
CarrierDefaultTextMode=dword:0

Hello everybody,
First off, SUPER FORUM! yes, you guessed it, i'm new.
To be honest, I would never have dreamt of working with a HTC Touch Pro, since i own an iPhone, but recently i was given a free HTC, so here I am.
Why I make this thread, it's the touch keypad that keeps on poppin up, even when I say that primary keys are the full button slide keyboard.
Is there a reg key that I can edit to disable the keyboard, or at least have it kept hidden in the task bar?
thanks in advance!
Yes, I find this too, but the more annoying thing for me is when composing emails and it keeps suggesting words and changing them even though I've deselected autocorrect and suggest words! It would be nice to be able to disable the on-screen keyboard completely and also the word suggestion/correction.
Of course in Opera you can't over-ride the on-screen keyboard anyway...
there was another thread about this - no solution found yet
(although I suspect the idea is simple: when keyboard is detected open, change SIP to an empty one, that has nothing to pop out - because it will be much more difficult to PREVENT OS from popping it)
For now just ignore it, it disappears when you click the first physical button anyway.

disable "T9" and change it to "ABC", that would disable the annoying auto word replacement feature

What about using that NullKB application that everyone has on their Moguls for precisely the same purpose?
~os
I suspect it will be fine (I'll check it out now).
The problem will be if keyboard is detected as open or not.
thx for the replies guys, too bad there's no real solution

I would seem that after this reg edit certain FN key stop working
i.e £ and € and in my case Sys
Steve
Would someone be kind enough to let me know how to restore the inputs and what's your registry settings for this two keys as I've tried restoring it but to no avail.
If you didnt notice, it screws up your Compact and Full Qwerty keyboard input.
I've got the same problem as Comclusive.
When I am typing email or word docs, this auto-correct keeps
locking in on words and I cannot get the cursor off the word. Then it seems to copy that word in the next spot I move the cursor to. It is maddening.
I've shut auto correct and chosen not to suggest words, in as many places as I can find, but my TP just keeps telling me to **** off - it is going to auto-correct and suggest words anyway.
I can't tell who is in Charge, Me or TP.
Help!

SIMPLE SOLUTION:
Upgrade your ROM with this one.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=444653

Yesssssssssssssss! That worked for me too, just got my Touch Pro 2 weeks ago and this issue was driving me crazy!!!!! Thanks!!!
Touch Pro 2 Suggest Words
I have done your registry edit, and it does work for suggested words and the on screen full qwerty keyboard works great for a while, then what happens is I get locked in phone keypad mode when I have full keyboard selected. I can do the smaller keyboard and the Transcriber etc, but when I select Full Qwerty, it keeps me locked in phone key pad. Have you heard of this happening? If I change back the Registry to removed the old suggested words, the problem goes away.
if u have Advanced Configurator or Diamond tweak or something like that (sorry forgot the name), they both have options to stop the touch keypad to automatically popup.
Hi All,
I have been trying to get japanese input working on my Raphael, and have run into some problems. Here's what I have done:
1. Installed LesJapanNo6 - all working/tested no problems
soft reset
2. Installed IME_31J_QVGA_F file
soft reset
-> manila.exe error, device.exe error, and another exe error (can't remember now - think it was TouchFlo3d related). Hardware keys dead.
3. Made the registry edit to get hardware keys working
soft reset (note, regional settings still Japanese)
After that, every time I would try and input something, or change the input method, I get ongoing crashes in device.exe (until I closed the kayboard).
I then decided to change the regional setting back to English (UK), and then soft reset. Now it starts with no errors, but input is stuck on hiragana and the keyboard icon has disappeared so no standard romaji input.
I think I now have to install the enable_ime_2 and/or enable_ime_3 cabs, but am paranoid I have already done something wrong (crashes etc from step 2). Can anyone more experienced hint at the final steps to get this all working?
Thanks,
Raj
The steps you have above should work fine, but use the VGA version:
http://rapidshare.com/files/159514259/IME_31J_F.cab.html
You might need to go ahead and hard reset before you try again.
Just for reference, I have LetsJapanNo6 and IME_31J_F on my Raphael 1.90.405.1 WWE (UK stock ROM), with the following reg tweaks applied:
Code:
[HKCU\Keyboard Layout\Preload]
default = "E0010411"
[HKCU\Keyboard Layout\Preload\1]
default = "E0010411"
[HKCU\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\IMEJP\3.1\MSIME]
Option3 = "D"
[HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Layouts\e0010411]
Keyboard Layout = "00000409"
Word of caution: when you go to edit the reg values, highlight the text and write over it; don't use the backspace key, because for some reason it inserts a lot of garbled text. Once you've saved the reg edits and soft-reset, the backspace key functions as normal again.
Also consider using PQzII to map keycode 0xE6 to IME; this will allow you to press the SYM key on the hardware keyboard to toggle between ascii (A→a) and kana (A→あ) input.
Other known issues: JP IME breaks T9/word suggestion, some other minor oddities.
SoftBank is releasing its version of the Raphael, so be on the lookout for a native JP ROM (which will have everything set up correctly) in the future.
Working perfectly now, fantastic!!!
Thanks!!!
I tried to map the SYM button to IME. But there is no way for me to specify 0xE6 in the IME menu.
is the new Raphael PQzII different?

I typed it in.
I'm using 008e1, but the latest e2 should be fine.
I have had this working for about a month now but was wondering how to get a keyboard shortcut to switch the kana/romanji input. This works perfect.. thanks!!!
thanks!!!
just a shot question:
as I use the hw-kb of my xperia for inputting text, it would be cool to have the tegaki-kb as standard one. Whenever I set it in Windows Mobile-Settings, it gets switched back to romaji-kb on restart.
is there a reg-hack for this?
would greatly appreciate your help!!!

It might be a problem with Xperia Panels resetting it to romaji-kb (TouchFlo3D does the same thing on the Touch Pro).
If you use PQzII, you can configure it to override the default input panel. You can even specify different default panels for portrait and landscape. Just open up the setup program (PQzII_Setup) and the settings is on the first page.
nevermind, got everything working!
thanks!
I do not know why my touch keyboard change to like this (please read the enclosed screen, all the alphabets gone, except p and w), I have tried to hardreset and then reinstall all the programs. It works fine for a couple weeks but all the sudden it changes again.
I am usng english version.
Do anyone has this kind of error? How to fix it? Please help
click the small arrow at the bottom of the screen, and select full QWERTY.
hope that helps.
I have the same problem and selecting full qwerty doesn't solve that. It is already qwerty , but it is somehow stuck on the number input layout.
Any other chance to solve this?

just an idea:
Did you try to select a different type of keyboard ("Phone Keypad" or "Keyboard") and then switch back to "Full QWERTY" again?
Did you disable xT9? if so, re-enable it and soft reset. This could solve your issue as someone earlier in the forum had the exact same issue and was solved the same way. search for that old post.
great! Thanks for advice, omar!
I've unistalled some xt9 tweak for czech language.
And I've edited some registry keys
... it's working again!
Code:
HKLM\Software\Tegic\eT9\Ime\TextInputMode = 1
HKLM\Software\Tegic\eT9\Ime\CurrentET9Style= 0
Hope some of that helps... I've done more edits at one time so I don't know which was the one that solved it.
