I have read all messages on Audiogain on this forum and cannot work out how to improve my problem.
I use a THB Bury take & talk BT car cradle and whilst I can hear people OK, they complain they can hardly hear me.
I am desperate to improve the microphone volume and wondered if anyone would be kind enough to give me some suggestions.
My previous phone, which used a non BT cradle was perfect, so I know it is not a car kit microphone related issue.
Any suggestions would be most welcome.
Thanks
For anyone who has a similar problem, I have solved this.
When you connect/power up the BT cradle, if you hold the right hand button in until you hear two low beeps, it indicates that the cradle is in 'Hands free' mode.
Two high beeps indicates 'headset' mode
I had the cradle in headset mode.
A case of RTFM

somebody be sure to let us know if anybody come across something like this
http://pc-mobile.net/pxdaa.htm
which just works with pickup and slam down phone support for xda2
As informed on the web site, it is not 100% compatible with XDA2.
XDA2 use a completely different audio connector (5-pole) for a start.
PXDAA does work in XDA2 to a degree:
3.5mm setero jack works as normal, as of course volume control.
Microphone also works as normal, you can use it as phone handsfree or voice recording.
On/off button does not function on XDA2.
For those who do not have both XDA and XDA2 so do not know, the original XDA headset has ONE answer/mute button, while the XDA2 headset has TWO buttons: one for answer and one for end.
We are looking into it. At this moment we do not think making a new headset for XDA2 is on our plan as the demand is probably not high enough to warrant spending money on a new developement. But we might look into using the existing one button design and use the button as ANSWER, sacrifising the end BUTTON, which XDA users were used to not having anyway.
But it may still be some time before we have any conclusive plan.
Hey I am curious, has anyone used one of these?
http://www.mrgadget.com.au/catalog/product_info.php/cPath/53/products_id/433
I was thinking about getting one of these for my vehicle but would like to have someone who has used one give me their input about them first. :?:
Also I have looked the Powered GPS Mount for i-mate / XDA II but I am not sure if I want to go with a unit that is all in one.
http://www.arkon.com/gpsmount.html#imate-gps
Has anyone used one of these yet? What has been your experience? I wish that they had one of these that was portable and had battery power. I am torn between getting one of these or getting one of the Delorme Blue Logger GPS's which I could use anywhere.
Any an all input would be appreciated.
Any Arkon mount with built in speaker has been terrible in use, the RF breakthrough causes extreme noise in the speaker and cannot be rectified. You can disconnect the speaker internally but that defeats the object. I also found it to be very bulky and used with the windshield mount had to be rested on the dash top to prevent it falling from the window due to the weight.
Damn, I didn't realize that I posted as a guest instead of being logged in under my account. :x
:!: *FYI, navyaircrewman = genghis* :!:
Good to know about the speaker. I ideally would like to use my XDA II when I am driving for GPS and phone purposes. Have been looking at various BT GPS devices. I was looking at the Teletype GPS but they are a little out of my budget. Then Delorme came out with their Blue Logger. The price was ideal, so I was set on getting it but stumbled across the Arkon GPS mount and wanted to make sure that I had made a good choice. Plus I really would like to be able to take my GPS with me when I go overseas and track my travel with Pocket Earth. That is one of the things that turned me off about the Arkon GPS mount.
So that answers my question about the Akron mount, but now, does anyone have any input on the Blueant Talkpad Car kit? I hope that it is pretty decent, as it would be a nice solution for the car.
Also does anyone have a recommendation of a mount that is better than the Akron? :?: Thanks again for the input.
genghis,
I use the BlueAnt TalkPad and the feedback I get is that the quality is great. typically people think I'm on a landline.
My setup is as follows :-
Arkon C531 powered mount (speaker cable is not connected)
BlueAnt TalkPad
XDA2
Co-Pilot 4.5 with Emtec GPS
I find the volume out of the XDA2 is quite loud enough - more sufficient to hear the GPS voice directions.
Other than the lack of a Handsfree profile for the XDA2 it all works very well. I can be using the GPS and make and recieve calls, without losing either connection.
Thanks for the info FredS,
So if I got the CM475 and I paired it with a BlueTooth GPS like the BlueLogger from Delorme, I will be set?
Why did you disconnect the internal speaker of the mount? Are there feedback issues with the internal speaker?

Not that I'm aware of.
Just to lazy to open up the rubber flap, and insert the pin.
Plus like I said the sound is quite loud enough for me.
What you decribe should work without any hassles.

Are there any possibilities to disable USB handsfree of Kaiser?
I'm asking this because I purchased THB Bury car HF kits for both of my cars and they've been working OK but there's something I don't like: voices of TomTom 6 are totally muted while the phone is in its cradle. Usually the voice comes from phone's HF speaker but now when it's disabled since the phone is connected to USB for charging and HF purposes, TomTom 6 won't make a sound.
So I'd really appreciate of someone would know how to disable (and able) USB HF functionality while the phone is in its cradle.
I figure a car kit would route the audio to your car speakers?

Yep, that's true. I'm afraid that THB Bury HF works only during the phonecalls. Otherwise it's totally muted
If I'll release the phone from its cradle, the sound of TomTom 6 will be audible again. But when the phone is situated in its cradle, TomTom 6 will be totally muted
It's not fit for purpose really is it? What use is a hands free kit for this device which mutes the GPS audio? The 'all in one' nature of the Kaiser is clearly one of the major selling points for some people (me in particular).
There are a few threads developing on this theme here and elsewhere which at the very least may warn other people off. Bury should withdraw the cradle until it works properly with the Kaiser.
I find that the handfree earplugs and mic work fine for both phone and TT6 audio so it's something to do with the "Car" profile which the Bury cradle causes the Kaiser to switch to which causes the problem.
I'm going to try a Bury BT adaptor to see if it at least leaves the Kaiser internal speaker active while routing phone audio to the car speaker. It would be a compromise but as things stand, with the hard wired cradle, it's no use to me at all aside from being am expensive brick of a hands free/charging solution.
I'll post an update or an eBay ad shortly.....
This is indeed very annoying and I'm afraid it won't be solved.
I have contacted Bury, they answered that the TT6 software doesn't give a mute signal and that because of this the sound doesn't go to the in car radio. I saw another post on this forum which mentions the same answer.
Thus I contacted TomTom support, but they state that they never activate any mute signal. They only pass some sound information to the phone and the phone should decide somehow if the sound should be directed to the speaker or to the carkit.
Finally I opened a case at HTC, but they already answered I should contact Bury or TomTom...
In Dutch we have a very good proverb for this: "Van het kastje naar de muur gestuurd worden" (which means everyone points their finger to another).
I've now replaced my hardwired Bury cradles for the Kaiser with the Bluetooth versions (and TyTn charging leads - extra) and they seem to work fine.
The phone works hands free, charges, mutes the radio when it should and leaves TomTom talking to me through the internal Kaiser speaker. Tom Tom only mutes during a call. Voice quality is fine for my use.
The cradle can be used with various bluetooth phones and, rather than being made to measure for a particular phone, it is adjustable to fit pretty well any type. One slight resulting nuisance is that I occasionally switch on the camera as I insert the phone (the camera button is on the side where one of the clamps is). Easily sorted by pressing the red key on the phone however.
So I'm a happy punter again. Thanks to phonejunkie for sorting me out.
Alistair.
Alistair, which bluetooth version did you use? It seems Bury have two models:
THB UNI Bluetooth Adapter for the Take and Talk System 8 hands-free car kit and
THB UNI Bury Take and Talk System 8 Bluetooth Cradle.
btw, I got a response from THB stating that none of these was suitable for the Kaiser...
So I finally connected my new GM-specific Eonon-branded MTCE_WWW (GA9180A - made by Klyde, I believe) Android 8 unit in-car (was testing "on the bench") and oh my god - that little external warning chime speaker is absolutely horrible! I don't understand how they can spend so much time getting these things to work in car and then do such a piss-poor job on the little speaker that produces warning chimes and turn-signal sounds! Typically, these sounds come out of the cars speakers (with stock or higher-quality plug-and-play units).
Surely, there is some way to improve upon this?? Does anyone know if this little speaker is amplified or of it's just a simple speaker in a plastic case? I don't want to tear it apart just in case I decide to return the unit (I really don't want to, but this little speaker may be a deal-breaker). Not only does it sound absolutley horrible, but I'm also getting some sort of interference noice on it - even when the car isn't running. I think the interference noise is coming from the FM antenna adapter, the wifi antenna or CANBUS box - they are all in the same general area, so it's hard to tell which one is causing it.
Anyone have any info on these little speakers? I would love to use a higher-quality speaker if that would help (maybe even with a volume dial to control the volume of the chimes?). Only 2 wires going to the speaker, so I'm assuming it's just a regular un-amplified speaker. Will see if I can hook up another speaker to see what happens.
I did a few searches and didn't find much, but will keep searching - just figured I'd ask at the same time.
Thanks in advance.
Thanks for sharing.
Yes, the sound from chime speaker is horrible especially for turn-signal. But I don't think it is speaker fault and indeed it is caused by CanBox code. I used some good quality speaker to test chime sound and I got the same horrible sound.
And for noise, in my case it is from WIFI activity I believe and I will live with it because it is hard to notice when music is on.
Had the same experience with a unit I just installed in my girlfriend's mini cooper which is a shame because mini/bmw has some pretty cool and iconic door chimes, notifications, and blinker noises.
I ordered an Axcess branded wire harness adapter box that I will wire up just the can-bus and power leads to to retain the sounds from its little speaker but I had another idea. The dash has plenty of available space inside, I may install the factory head unit single-din component to the can-bus wires and power and then a decent PA loudspeaker under the dash to the unit's driver door output to make up for the lack of those tones.
I installed my unit but I did not install this speaker at first
I think I do not need it
Quick fix
The speaker seemed distorted in my (px6, android, dasaita, Chevy Cruze 2011). After some testing I landed on a 8ohm resistor on the positive speaker cable between the speaker and the connector to the head-unit. The resistor wil consume the power and transfer it into head. And the speaker sounds way better now. For obvious reasons the volume is also lower now. And so far I like it.
Has anyone figured how how to change the door chime / blinker signal/ warning sounds ?
Hi dear friends,
I'm having a weird issue with wired (jack) headphones during calls : I can hear my own microphone !
For example during a call, if I'm in windy conditions, I can hear the wind.
During such scenarios, my phone is in a pocket or in a bag, so the mic I hear is the one on the headphone's cable.
This problem arises with either the headphones provided with the Pixel, or with any other wired headphones kit (I've tested with a Samsung).
On headphones with volume control, I can even hear a loud sound when volume up or down ...
And this issue is here out of the box, without any APP installed.
My phone has already been replaced by Google support, but the issue is still there one the new one.
Does any of you Pixel 3a owners, have seen such an issue with its phone ?
This is normal operation.
If you are wondering why the noise cancellation isn't working better, you have to understand how it works. It compares the audio from the mic on the headphone wire with the audio from a mic(s) on the phone. Anything that both mics pick up is cancelled by the noise cancellation software because it is considered an "outside noise". But anything picked up on just the wired mic is considered part of the conversation and won't be cancelled out. That means if your phone is in your pocket and it isn't getting the same wind noise (for example), then the phone will not cancel out that audio because it's only being picked up by the wired mic and not both mics.
Hopefully that helps. If you want wind noise to be cancelled out, try holding your phone in your hand and see if that helps. But the wind noise may not be picked up even then depending on which way the wind is blowing vs what orientation your phone is being held in, so you might have to hold the phone a couple of different ways to find one that works the best at that time.

Thanks for your reply
My guess is that this issue is not related to noise cancellation.
1) I've indeed mention that, in my test scenario, my phone was in my pocket. But I can remember of several times I was holding the phone in my hand, or phone was lying on a table, and even then the sound captured by both mics was audible by me.
2) When I'm in call with another person, and I'm hearing the wind in my own mic, the other person does NOT hear the wind.
Isn't anyone here using jack wired headphones ?
