I've had a problem with my XDA Exec since last Friday. I use it as my alarm clock on a morning normally - the 3 alarms are better than a snooze button cos it eases me in gently by reducing the snooze time each time. But on Friday I was late for work when it didn't go off at all. When I woke up and switched it on, all 3 notifications came through at once. Same has happened yesterday and today (though luckily I was already awake both times).
I did a reset over the weekend, and I know its not a sound issue as it just doesn't go off until you switch it on and they all come through at once. If I receive a text or phone call that wakes the phone up so I know its not that either.
Any thoughts/ideas?
alarm problem
hey buddy even i m facing same problem, it oesnt goes off, i mean even if we uncheck it in notification it doesnt goes off, even after soft reset it doesnt...whats the problem
After a few days it decided to rectify itself. Still no idea what exactly when wrong, but its working now at least.
ok, so heres my problem. i rcvd my TP2 yesterday about 10am. since i got it i have had a problem with it not coming out of standby when i press the power button or when calls come in. i can still answer calls however. ive done numerous hard resets and i have not installed anything other than my contacts. late last nite it just started working fine but as soon as i plugged it in this morning it started acting up again. i have noticed that when it does this i am able to get it to turn if i open the keyboard and tilt the screen up. it will come every time and will remain on when closed until goes back to sleep. i have also noticed that the backlight controls in system power management do not change the screens brighhtness either. i tried to install lumos to see if maybe that would help but couldnt get it to run as it says i need a newer netcf version but i cant seem to install it. has anyone run across this problemm and have any suggestions? btw. sorry for the lengthy post
This sounds like a job for Sprint tech support. Tell them everything you've done so far. In my experience, they're pretty good about warranty replacements.
ok, so i was able to get lumos installed and so far its good. Ive plugged it in, reset and it seems to be working fine now. will let it go the rest of the day without change and see if that fixes my issue. I am inclined to believe there is something wrong with my software that handles power management (duh) which is odd because it is brand spanking new. So just to recap: came off a fresh hard reset and issues persisted. Added my contacts, updated to NetCF 3.5 and installed Lumos to handle backlight. So far so good. I am trying to avoid calling sprint about it as much as possible
But, if anyone else has any ideas, let me know
OK, here's something strange that I still haven't figured out why this happens or how to stop it. My Kyocera Echo phone has a different ring tone than what I hear when it starts quietly ringing when no one is calling. I turned it on this morning and used Advanced Task Killer to kill all the apps that start up with my phone that my start up manager seems not to catch, and then when I came back to my phone after getting breakfast, I noticed it was ringing. It happens sporadically even when the phone is idle for a while and it isn't how long it's on or what time of day it is (alarm) or any app that's running (I think.) I think it might be something to do with the firmware or a background app or something. AVG didn't find any viruses on my phone either.
Any ideas of what to check or anyone fix this issue before?
UPDATES:
I noticed that when I tried using Lookout Mobile on my phone, that I no longer have the program called "Hot Reboot" on my phone and I think it removed it. I haven't had it off of there long enough to tell if that's what glitched it up or not, but so far I haven't noticed it ringing. Maybe it's a virus. A lot of people seem to have it, so maybe they made it so it's just buggy on the Echo. I'm not sure.
Update:
No it isn't that program...
Update:
I did a factory reset and as long as it isn't a firmware bug or a rootkit virus or something, I should be rid of it now. I'll keep this post updated in case it comes back. I only installed a few of the programs I had on it before.
Update:
Ok, so it started doing it again....
Update:
Good news! I'm making progress and I found out that the program causing this issue is actually the dialler program. When it started ringing again I tried the volume button and it gave me the volume control for "In call volume." So, I tried to make a call to my voicemail and the ringing stopped when it connected. So there's some kind of issue with the dialler thinking I'm in a call and yet it rings with a ringtone that wasn't set as a ringtone when it shouldn't be ringing at all and the max volume is still super quiet. I'm not sure why this is happening even after a factory reset. Neither of my antivirus programs saw it as a virus either, so I'm still not sure what's going on yet.
Update:
I called Sprint today and they said it was a known issue and so I updated my software, but I thought I did that before and still had the issue. Maybe it didn't take the last time, but both my friend and Sprint said to update it. I take it as synchronicity was trying to get me to update it and that will fix it. I'll let you know if that was the issue or not.
Update:
OK, in conclusion, the update patch that I used above is what fixes this issue.
hi all.
the problem i have that i hope to get help with is this, everything was OK until around a month ago when i noticed it wasn't waking up from sleep.
after trying to pinpoint the problem i discovered that it was freezing when asked to wake either by power button or by notification- e-mail texts and the like, but not as far as i know when receiving calls. that seems to be ok so far....
now here is the twist...non of this happens when plugged into the mains/USB power or when its kept from sleep by say my music or radio app.
so guys and gals, does anyone have any ideas that will help either cure this or are there any apps that can run in the background without killing my battery too much
Thanks in advance

That is what we call the Sleep of Death. So far there really isn't a fix for it. For me it was one of the apps I installed that was causing the problem along with the custom rom I had installed too. Here's more information on this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1707521 and I found this to see if it might help http://www.ehow.com/how_12183457_can-stop-sleep-death-android.html
Has anyone experienced your U11+ freezing up.
It has happened to me about 3 times.
It generally happens over night while it's charging. I get up one of those mornings and the green light is on, remove the charging cable and I can't wake up the phone. I can't even turn off the phone by pressing and holding the power button to kill the device. The only way is to put it into download mode by simultaneously holding down the vol down key and power key, and then when the menu comes up to select the reboot option to get the phone back to normal.
Has anyone else experienced this or know what could be causing this to happen?
The problem is that I use my phone as my alarm clock, and when it freezes up, my alarm doesn't work.
Any suggestions anyone?
No problem like that until now.
However, noticed sometimes that the my alarm, which is setup for vibration only, only vibrates once and then continues silently alarming until I turn it off.
Happens randomly but still strange. I've to try with another clock app.
That's really odd.
I'm going to turn off the always - on feature and see if I get anymore freezes. I had another one this afternoon.
I'll report back after some time and let you know if there has been no more freezes.
I'm just updating to the latest update 1.23.709.3 and see also how it performs.
I'm a bit concerned about this random freezing that I have experienced since I got this device.
If it persists I may ask for a new one.

I'm still on the October security patch so I'm expecting one for the December period soon I hope.
In regards to your freezes I've not encountered anything like that so far been working flawlessly so far if there is anything I can test let me know
I have the Taiwan version.
If you could try the always-on feature for a couple of days and nights and report back, that would be awesome. However, I selected the option, for always-on to only come on when I moved the phone. (good for night time use especially)
I had my phone in the pocket yesterday afternoon and it froze.
As I stated earlier, I can only restart the phone only by putting it into download mode and reboot from there.

Thanks for letting me know.
I guess I can rule that feature out as a probable cause.
It must be some other app that's causing this issue. But it's a pain to go through the process of finding out which one.

Yeah trial and error isn't fun. I'd probably factory reset though and see if it happens with barely any third party apps installed.

I have the HK model I think and I had the AOD when I first got it, set to motion and nothing has happened to my phone in regards to freezing fingers crossed. I have disabled it for the moment as I noticed a greater battery usage overall, I believe between 9-10% overnight and only 2% when I had it disabled.
Hopefully you find the problem otherwise see if you can get it replaced...
Since not using the always-on feature, I don't have any more freezes. Must be some conflict with the alarms and always-on. Can't see what else could be causing those freeze ups.
My phone surprisingly just froze up yesterday. But at least it's been a long while since not having the always-on feature enabled. With always-on enabled, it seems to have happened every day.
The issue I have most about this, is missing that important call when I haven't realised that the phone is frozen, because sometimes I don't pick up the phone for hours.
I had to do a complete fresh install from scratch and I have no more issues. I believe all my issues came from using HTC's transfer tool when going from u11 to u11+. Importing all the settings features using the Transfer Tool has caused issues. I'll never use this tool again.
All good now.
