Replacement 750 - Palm Treo 750

I have a warranty replacement Treo 750, the old one i have is running WM6 AT&T Leaked Rom........ The New One Is Running WM5.
My question is this, how do i downgrade my old one to WM5 Again. such as pull the wm5 rom off the new one to install on the old one so when i return it i don't catch any ATTitude saying i voided my warranty or something.

do i even need to worry about having the WM6 rom on it?

Ok i contacted palm trying to get the rom. no success. but if you see near the bottom. however i do disagree that you can't downgrade. so please people any input would be greatly appreciated. also the IT reason i was calling isn't a reality, however i was hoping i could wrangle the ROM out of them.

Hello Ken, Thank you for contacting Palm Technical Support. My name is Allen. How may I help you?
Allen>
Hello.
Ken>
hello
Ken>
i have a question
Allen>
Please let me know.
Ken>
recently i have gotten a Treo 750, my it guy was setting it up to sync with our exchange server,
Allen>
Okay.
Ken>
he asked me where i got it, i told him on ebay, he then informed me that it is running WM6 which is not correct yet and told me to contact you to find out about getting a downgrade back to the proper software
Ken>
he said he could install it he just needed the software
Ken>
so i am needing the wm5 software for an AT&T treo 750
Allen>
Correct me if I am wrong, you would like to downgrade the Windows OS version on the device, correct?
Ken>
yes i want to go back to wm5 i want my device to be proper
Ken>
the IT dept says wm6 is not supported yet
Allen>
First of all, this is strange as we did not release the Windows Mobile 6 out to the users yet, how could that possibly installed on the device.
Allen>
I am sure that the version which you have installed on the device may not be a certified one.
Allen>
Coudl you let me know the Carrier on the device?
Ken>
AT&T
Ken>
Windows Mobile 6 Pprofessional Build 17746.0.2.4
Allen>
I am sorry, I missed it above. I see you typed that before. However, I would like you to know that once you upgrade the OS version on the device, cannot be downgraded as it will be written on the ROM of the device.
Ken>
i have googled it, and it i see other people that have had this issue have corrected it by contacting palm support
Allen>
We cannot downgrade the version of Palm OS. However, I would like to inform you that the Palm Engineering team has studied the complete release of Windows Mobile 6 and the build for Treo 750 is being developed.
Allen>
The same is being forward to get approval from the vendors.
Ken>
i don't care about what is coming i just want my IT dept to be able to sync my phone with exchange
Ken>
they said they will not connect it running wm6
Allen>
When that version is released for the users(which is very soon), you can re-run the genuine upgrade on the device, that may help your IT guy to configure your device.
Allen>
What is the version of Exchange Server you have in your network?
Ken>
um
Ken>
i have no idea
Ken>
i don't do IT
Ken>
probably the latest
Ken>
our IT dept stays on the cutting edge
Allen>
Is that Exchange Server 5.5?
Ken>
let me call them
Ken>
hold on
Allen>
Please go ahead.
Allen>
No worries.
Ken>
2003
Ken>
with 2007 being deployed
Allen>
Exchange 2003 and 2007 servers are supported on Windows Mobile 6.
Ken>
i understand
Ken>
but they will not connect it
Ken>
because they want only supported devices
Ken>
and since you don't support wm6 yet
Ken>
they will not do it
Allen>
Our engineers have tested and it works in our labs. Mr. Ken, I will explain you about what's happening here.
Ken>
ok
Allen>
Before that, could you let me know what happens when you try to connect?
Ken>
nothing, my it department will not connect it
Ken>
IT policy prohibits it
Allen>
Okay. If that is a IT policy, then I am sorry, we will not be able to downgrade it. However, I would like you to know that Windows Mobile 6 upgrade will be release by us very soon, which will be then supported by us. That way, your IT department will also start supporting it.
Ken>
ok so if it is going to be soon, how soon will i be able to install a supported OS
Ken>
ball park ish
Ken>
1 month
Ken>
6 momths
Allen>
Yes, it should be released in 1 month or less.
Allen>
No, it will not go till 6 months. It is a huge update, It will be absolutlely free to give existing users a new experience of Windows OS 6.
Ken>
ok here is a question, can palm replace my device with one that is running the supported software?
Allen>
I am sure when we release the upgrade for the device, your IT department will also start support the Windows Mobile 6, that way you will be able to configure your device.

There's been rumors on other sites of a February, 2007 release/upgrade, but I haven't seen anything official from Cingular to verify that.

3GSM 2007: Windows Mobile 6 upgrade for Treo 750 coming

Palm is announcing upgrades to Treo 750 to get upgrades to Windows Mobile 6
At 3GSM in Barcelona, Spain, Microsoft announced Windows Mobile 6, the newest version of their mobile phone software platform. As a strong Microsoft partner, Palm plans to offer Treo smartphones with Windows Mobile 6 later this year.
"Our continued collaboration with Microsoft gives our customers a powerful combinationPalm's hallmark ease of use with the power and security of Windows Mobile favored by many businesses. We look forward to integrating Microsoft's new operating system as we continue to help people around the world stay connected with Palm's unequaled mobile-computing experience." said Stephane Maes, Senior Director, Smartphones, at Palm.
... as you can read here.
It is unclear however which Treo 750 is meant - the one from Cingular in USA or the one from Vodafone in Europe? In any case the HSDPA upgrade for Treo 750v (the one from Vodafone) still is not available so maybe it will be included in the Windows Mobile 6 upgrade? For now it is unclear when this Windows Mobile 6 upgrade will be available but by this announcement Palm sends clear signal "you can buy 750 safely without being worried that it runs outdated operating system because upgrade is coming". Very good decision of Palm! ... (also Windows Mobile 6 upgrade to T-Mobile Dash has been announced) and now it is yet to be seen which other Windows Mobile manufacturers will follow with which handsets...

This is amazing news! I applaud Palm for this, it is a great move by them as they are getting reading to release the Treo 750 sim-free around the rworld and extend it to more carriers around the worlds also and they wouldn't be selling many without this upgrade. Can't wait for Q2 2007!!!
I m think of unlock my 750v ,but meaby is beter to wait for 6.0,couse I have Hermes already,so I can wait (if not to long) . When does it shows up (wm 6.0) ?

T-Moble to update WM6 for the DASH

I hope this mean there is more to come form T-Mobile for us Wizard users.
I hope so too
The Dash Wm6 rom was leaked awhile ago.
T-Mobile no longer cares about the MDA, now that they have the "Wing" coming soon which should have WM6 from the start. They even removed the MDA from their website, kinda leaving all us MDA users to cope for ourselves.
Wow this is so old...
There are WM6 upgrade for Wizard in T-mobile on May 4, anyone tested it yet? please upload it

If you have an T-Mobile acct, you should be able to login and change your phone, then go to support and it should allow you to download it.
is it for wizard or for Dash, The wizard isn't even on the t-mobile website anymore.
Can you install this in a wizard or is that stupid. Cingular also released a rom for an 8525 the other day. The 8525 was an upgrade to the 8125 right, so does anyone know if that rom may work on the wizard????
NBD 10.2.0.8
2.19 radio rom
ipl/spl 2.26
8525 (hermes) and 8125 (wizard) are very different when it comes to roms, you couldn't just try to use that rom on a wiz..
someone could possible use a hermes rom to make a wm6 rom for the wizard.... but thats about it

Update for MDA has the date of 2006, so it's not a new update.
The new update is only for Dash.

The dash upgrade is wm6, the MDA is wm5 IPL/SPL 2.26.
But yes you can use mda version on the 8125. I have used it to flash back to wm5 after trying some wm6 cooked versions.
rom 10.2.0.8 wwe by nbd
radio 2.19.11
MDA upgrade
yeah, the upgrade is called the " Wing ".
or the XDA terra - because it is an HTC p4350 aka HTC herald
and
nearly all is similar to wizard:
registry
apps
button
etc.
omap 850
You even can use Batterystatus.
And it has WM6 on it but in german.

Official WM6 Upgrade

As you all may allready know, HTC is prepearing to lounch an upgrade tu WM6 for several models (htc advantage, P3300, TyTN, P 4350, S620) all considered to be "messaging phones".
But HTC 9100 & Universal are also "messaging phones".
They say that they are ready to release an upgrade to those models too, only if the Mobile Operators demand an upgrade. And the Mobile Operators say that if they will receive a certain amount of requests from users, they will proceed and request un upgrade to HTC.
Meny users have allready sent e-mails to their Operators requesting an upgrade.
I am an orange user and i have allready sent an e-mail to Orange asking them for an upgrade. I have a friend who's working at Orange, and i'll talk to him an hopefully i will rush things up for this upgrade.
The point is that we all should send our requests to our Operators and soon we will recive an official upgrade to WM6.
As far as i know Orange, T-Mobile and O2 have allready recived a large number of requests.
Just give it a try and maybe we will succeed.

In fact the universal is a much expensive handset compared to some listed above. But still the operateors dont want to help us upgrade which is strange. I think we all must put our requests to the OEMS and some who have purchased through operators to provide us the upgrades.
I own a Imate Jasjar and sent them an email and got no response from them.
Since its a direct purchase from their dealers out here there is not much back up support.
Hope one of you will get the upgrade and we who are deprived will be able to upgrade our universals.

Windows Mobile 6.1 for a Q9c from Centennial in PR

Hi.
This is my first post on the forum.
Does any any one of you know how to upgrade to WM6.1. I check in the Motorola webpage, but the for the company they don't has any upgrade yet.
I try with the upgrade for Verizon and T-Mobile, but the program said that there's any upgrade for the moment.
I apprecite you're help.
I'm new to the Q9c.
Regards
My Q9c came with WM6.1; how old is yours?
I'm just looking to make mini-weather or something like it work for me. I'm on Sprint. And I too am on my first "smart" phone, although it doesn't seem too smart yet...
I buy the phone on January 9. The company is Centennial in Puerto Rico.
Now they sell the phone with WM6.1 and they said to check on the web page of Motorola. They don't work with any upgrade.
What a wonderfull customer service department. They don't know nothing.
1st time poster looking for a solution to get tcpmp to work on wm6.1 moto q9c...
Try going to http://www.mobile-files.com and search the cdma/motorola forum for the firmware you need. I upgraded my VRZ Q9c from that site.
