contacts not working!

What's Up? Just have a quick question about going from wm5 to wm6. I had tried to transfer my contacts by just moving the pim file over like I have always done in the past. This time it just makes my screen crash on wm6 has anybody else had this problem?

The PIM files of WM5 and Wm6 are NOT compatible. YOu have to go the normal way - syncing. So hardreset - new partnership and active sync.
SOrry - only way - i guess.

Or... you can install PIM Backup on WM5, take a backup with it, then install WM6 and then run PIM Backup there to restore you contacts, addresses, SMS, phone log, etc... This works since it does not restore the actual PIM but uses a CSV (or similar) type file to backup and restore from. Very handy for moving between versions and roms.

going from treo 650 to treo 750

Hey guys,
I was just wondering if there would be a way to transfer all of my text messages from my treo 650 to my 750... I have a lot of text messages that I'd hate to lose.

thanks hanmin but isn't PIM backup for ppc? All of my text messages are already backup up with hotsync so can that app transfer them from there?

Hey, I am thinking of upgrading my G4 wizard to WM6, but am curious as to how I am able to transfer all my contacts, and messages etc across.
also I am correct in thinking it is possible to reflash to wm5 if I desire?

PIM Backup 2.5

here it is

I find it easier to just let it sync with outlook after a rom upgrade. you will get all your contacts and mails back.
but make sure to use the pimbackup to keep your sms messages and call logs etc.

My push email server and pim backup started conflicting with each other after a few rom flashes so now only my email syncs with the server...I backup everything else via Pim Backup.

I don't use outlook, i normally use spb backup, but i know that info saved with that in wm5 isn't compatible with wm6.
will give this PIM backup a go, will have to put my brother onto it too

Hi,
I want to transfer my contacts, note ... from my old PDA2 (WM 2003 SE) to new Nokia 6220 Classic (S60 on Symbian). I have exported my contacts to some files such as .csv .txt .vcf by outlook but the Nokia communicator software dose not import said files and says "The contacts cannot be imported. Check the file format"

It's not a WinMo phone, right? contact your service provider. Most have the means to conduct PIM transfers between incompatible phones. Most will also charge you for the luxury. I think it's usually worth it not to have to retype every contact, when you have over a hundred...

Transfer SMS to windows mobile 6.5

Hi guys, I recently upgrade winmo 6.5 for my O2 atom life. I have used Effcasoft backup to backup all my SMS before trying to flash new rom. However, it seemed the backup file (.exe file), which was created by Enffcasoft cannot work on winmo 6.5. How can I transfer SMS from windows mobile 6 to windows mobile 6.5. Those SMSs are very important to me.
p.s. If you have setup file of Jeyo sms backup (the sms backup software were available in original rom of o2 atom life from seeo2), pls send it because I also used that software to backup my old SMS

I always use ppc pim backup utility(free) to backup my pim. Very useful program. It works on both 6.1 and 6.5. It is actually portable program. Put it anyware in Yiur device and it will work.

Can restore SMS from WM6.1 to HD2 by using PIM Backup?

I just get my HD2, i try to restore PIM such as contact,sms,appointment.... from my old phone tytn2 to HD2 by using PIM back up.
Contact,Task and appointment can restore successfully.
But after i restore sms, my HD2 like hang already!!!
i got few thousand sms to restore la, but there is no problem with tytn2!
Is it the message for WM6.1 is different with WM6.5?

In short yes. I would never restore sms to winmo 6.5 from 6.1 as going from unthreaded to thread always messes things up! HTC messaging in winmo 6.5 also doesnt like this (restoring text). I would also consider why do you need to keep 1000's of texts on ur device anyway? Print the off or just keep them archived, why choke up ur memeory and storage?
