I understood that Imate, Qtek, htc and some others are actually made by one Taiwanese company and then sold by their proprietary names as above.
Majority of their products if you see are the same. Only their logos are changed on the PPCs. Even the shapes are the same. They are looting by different names?????????
yes that Taiwanese company's name is htc which stand for high tech computers
and since they started selling themselfs they stop'd selling oem as qtek and imate
qtek is now a part of htc and dont exist as themselfs anymore
and imate started Oem'ing from other companys
htc still oem to phone companys like o2, tmobile and the likes though

You mean htc is the parent company? But qket is still available in market. By the way what is oem or oem'ming? It means that htc is selling its produts to imate and o2.
If one see the products of all these companies you will find that they are exactly same with different logos. May be casing colour difference?
OEM means Original Equipment Manufacturer - the company that actually makes the hardware.
Today many large companies don't make products them salves but only brand them.
HP, Fujitsu and others are examples.
For years HTC made WM based devices (not just phones) for sale under many brands: i-mate, qtek, dopod, O2, Orange, HP, Fujitsu and others.
The brand company would usually specify what it wants in terms of hardware and small adjustments to the OS, HTC would design and produce the device.
While large companies like HP would by a line exclusively like the iPaq 65xx and 69xx phones other smaller brands like qtek and i-mate (which now sells only non-htc devices) would by the same hardware and give it a different name.
My phone (Prophet) is know as Qtek S200, XDA Neo, Dopod 818 and Orange SPV600. It is all the same hardware with slight differences in ROM.
But this practice doesn't happen only with phones. It happens with nearly all types of electronic equipment and is standard through out the industry.
yes htc used to be oem for many companys like hp and these range of pda phones
but they entered the market and cut imate off as a parter
and they own qtek and i believe it's being fased out
and yes they still oem to phone companys like o2 and tmobile
and yes the only difference is logo colour and maybe a bit of casing and button difference
Thanks levenum And Rodegar!
I learnt a lot from you. It means that htc is the leader.

(O.T.) Eten-M600...
do they sell atom in dubai
I was in dubai just last week and the Atom is available at almost all the leading Electronic shops like Jacky's, Jumbo, Plug-in's etc. Couldn't find any accessories for the Atom though since they claim the product was just launched and it would be a while until the accessories started coming in! I think the phone was priced around AED2700! Good price! seriously! Go for it!
I went to see both the v and o versions of the TYTN phone and aesthetically I prefer the ornage one.
Can anyone tell me the advantages and or disadvantages of both phones (compared)
FYI
I was offered the vodafone on 18mth contract, 500mins, stop the clock, 500 txt (or 25.5MB of data) for £17.50 first 3 months £35 thereafter with the phone for around £50.00 possibly free.
OR
I was offered the orange m3100 on 18mth contract, 500mins, 200 txts, unlimited landline calls, magic number, free answerphone, free wireless broadband £35.00 per month
thx.
PS does anyone know where i could get the eton GPS phone on contract for a good price?
Vodafone is HERM200 while Orange is HERM100, look here for the differences:
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Hermes_Versions
basically, HERM100 battery is 1300mAh and HERM200 battery is 1350mAh, HERM100 has oval directional pad and HERM200 has square directional pad, the HERM100 stylus seems to suffer from the same annoyance as the Wizard stylus, it falls out. The HERM200 stylus seems to be realy well fitted in comparison.
BTW, ROMs between both HERM100 and HERM200 devices are interchangeable.
thx
Hi..
Im using a Dopod 838 Pro. It sais its a HERM -100 but i have a 1350 Mah sanyo battery. And the stylus is not loose...

How about expansys?
Go to www.expansys.com and enter Mio A701 contract into the search box at the top left and hit Enter.
You'll get a big list including some 'free' options.
Edit: OK you said Eten (not Eton) but the principle is the same.
My current smartphone is slowly dying. After having upgraded due to hardware failure 3 times in the last two years (motorola mpx220 hinge broke, qtek 8500 mainboard broke, htc s710 earpiece failure) I dont want to pay top dollar for a new handset so I just want the cheapest smartphone or windows mobile device that I can get - any ideas (uk preferably)

Hi All,
I've been searching for a while now but I can't find the answer if any of the following devices batteries are compatible with Desire:
HTC G1 (Google G1, Kila), HTC Wizard (MDA Vario), HTC Artemis (MDA Compact III
According to part numbers found on various sites I'd say none of them is compatible but I wanna be sure because I got a cool offer from the retailer for this old devices. According to him the batteries part numbers are: MC-H2-A023, HT-A-00049, HT-A-00047.
I'd be grateful if anyone can verify that none of these batteries is compatible with Desire.
Cheers,
Matt
does it really make much difference in cost. Batteries arent really too expensive anyway. Why not just get one that is stated as compatible and save yourself the agro?
They cost 2$ a piece... It's called "warehouse cleaning" and because these are very old HTC devices the accessories are ultra cheap (almost free).
