Which Rom so far has the best Battery life? - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III Windows Mobile ROM De

Any kind of rom.

good question. With normal call usage, maybe 20-30 calls a day maybe 2-5 minutes each and mild internet usage, maybe 5 sessions at 5 minutes each, I BARELY get a entire day, 6am until 11pm. Normally around 8pm or 9pm i get the battery low message.
And this is with factory setting from AT&T with kaiser tweaks
30 sec time out screen
auto cut off for internet
cache set at default

I'm running Dutty's #3 ROM.
Earlier in this week I put a 1600mah replacement battery in the Kasier... with bluetooth on 24/7, approximately 1 hour of GPS use today and about 30 minutes of wireless usage... I got from 7am until 6pm without needing to charge at all and I still have 27% battery left! I am impressed!
Sorry - according to history, I've had 18 calls today for an approximately 2hrs along with heavy HSDPA internet use due to push email enabled for "deliver straight away" for Outlook, Hotmail and GMail.

ehm, sorry, but this is *** question..
how you want to measure pda's time? everyone is doing something different, different time and in different position of gsm.. it will be just maybe, approximately.. you are not able to have correct data and in that case this is not useful..

I use: Dutty's TouchFlo Rom Final Rom
Usaly GPRS monitor gave 7:45. Now it give 10:13

a couple things
I use the XDA live ROM for the tilt.
The programs you choose will matter most, I don't even think about running tomtom for long without the charger attached. An active push client and wifi generally eat up the battery, and the screen of course.
Consider the conditioning of the battery. You need to make sure that you let it deplete itself for the first couple of weeks and then every 25 charges or so. Actual cracks in the battery cause bad life and so you want them somewhat spaced out. I'm curious to see how long a battery like this will last since it's being pumelled all the time.

If you turn off the 3G you will see an incredible increase in battery life...I know I have. When I want to use the internet I simply turn it back on. Solved pretty much all of my battery life problems. I can go two days without having to charge it again. I don't use the GPS that often but I do a fair amount of e-mail checking and txt messaging as well as 2 hours of talk time a day.
I am using Dutty's TouchFlo Tilt Beta ROM btw.

He is right - i still use default ATT rom without bloatware and some customization,30 to 40 min of HSDPA data commection and about hour of calls a day and it consumes about 40% in a day - I can go 48 hours with normal use without recharge

Battery Life seems very short

I don't see anything else on this, so perhaps there's something wrong with my Touch Pro -- I'm only getting ~6 hr battery run time, and that's with only the EDGE radio/email/push mail -- no wi-fi, no blue tooth..... seems very short (actually, makes it unusable for me). My Touch Cruise will go all day, with bluetooth.
I'm open to suggestions.
glad you raised this one - mine did the beep beep to dieat 6am this morinng - charged it up and its already only got one battry bar left!!!
wow, mine is doing all of the above as well as blackberry mail and it keeps its charge for days.
Yea mine is the same way. The battery doesn't last very long at all.

Days? I find that hard to believe. I reckon if you made no calls at all but left it doing mail only you';d get 2 days at the absolute outside.
Start making calls and stuff and you'r definitely looking at well short of 24hours. I get up between 7 and 8.30am most days and by 22.00 I reckon I'd be looking at having to put it on charge if i've been using the device, making calls etc.
Weird. I have a data connection constantly on, have an exchange sync server and IMAP mail set to poll every hour, and I'm went thru two days with 40% battery remaining. This is with phone calls as well.

I'm finding these comments of making it through days of use very hard to believe. I'm not saying you're lying or anything but I can assure you that most of us are not experiencing anything of the sort. I knew this full well, the TyTN II was not really that much different (perhaps slightly better but nothing but a knats **** in it).
I take you guys are using the standard supplied battery and not some 2000mAh monster in there?
Battery Long Life Extender Software, Now In A Cab File, The Real Deal!
Go to http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=413297 and get the long life battery extender software, works like a charm, just install to the main memory, works like magic, the real deal................!
Perhaps a comment on the radio bands being used aswell (naturally if you are set to GSM only also).
Long Battery Life
A days useage is what I'm getting at the moment. (ie unplug at 6.20am - start charging at 10pm ish.)
Couple of phone calls, dozen webpages, 2 hours of music, (wired headphones) Activesync running the time.
This is the same as my hermes with the standard battery.
The one thing I will add is that, from my experience, signal strength massively affects battery life. I go to a village in the French countryside once a year, with one cell tower in the middle of the village. The area is very flat, so I get maximum signal everywhere. (I don't go anywhere else.) With Activesync on instant for 14 hours a day and then polling once an hour, 1 phone call a day, plus half a dozen websites a day, I get over three days of useage. (Couldn't believe it at first ) Interestingly, the first year i went with my hermes, I only got 2 days. Several radio upgrades later, I was up to 3 days. (3G is turned off.)
Bottom line, I think we're going to have to wait for improved radio software to help

Not bad...
My PRO last all the weekend and I didn't do anything special: a few minutes on calls, some text messages, some wireless and GPS! I don't consider bad. Usually, with more use, it lasts 1,5 day
Same problem here.
Disconnected from charger today morning at 7:00
Couple of calls (summary 15min) some callendar entries added, couple of SMS (10 or sth)
No GPS, Wifi enabled just for 2min, all day in 3G field or Edge, 15min of game (solitare afair)
40% of battery at 13:30 :|
ActiveSync was enabled all the time - now it's unloaded permemently (tips provided in other topic on Raphael phorum)
so I'll check if there is any improvement in battery life.
As I mentioned in other topic - for me TP is a typical city phone:
Wake up, disconnect TP from charger and go to work (listen music or browsing the web but if you are planning to use GPS additional car charger is required) then at work you should stay connected to charger or USB. Disconnect your TP and go home (music listening is allowed or even web browsing) but at home dont forget to recharge your TP because out of battery alarm is going to start soon.
Unfortunatelly it's true.
B.
Me too.
Couple of phone calls. (20 min.)
WiFi on, for 15 min.
No 3G enabled.
Charged over night, took it from loader at 7:30, now at 23:00, only 20% left.
Ok, I have S2U2 running, seems to eat battery, but without S2U2 it's not much better.
My Kaiser seems to do much better, I was able to do 2 days without charging.

thanks
be intresting if someone disables the 3D accelerated interface, thebasic 2D screen dosnt have acceleration so it would be intresting to see ho much, if any, extra juice is needed to make it look pretty

I don't use TouchFlo3D, just see my post above.
Not really better battery results.
I always use PocketBreeze and PhoneAlarm on my today screen.
@Mitch92uK
?? 3D? I said 3G.
Do you mean the same as dazza9075?
The first night with the touch pro was alarming - when i went to bed the bat was fully charged, and after 6 hours of standby the battery was almost flat, about 12%
What i did was:
1 - Deactivate activesync with Dotfred's taskmanger by disabling replog.exe notifications (learned from another thread)
2 - Disabled 3G
3 - Disabled autoupdates for RRS Hub + weather progs, etc.
4 - Disabled autostart of Operaprel + rsshub and sddaemon by tweaking the reg.
5 - Cleaned up the startup folder.
Now when i soft reset the device it starts up with only 14 processes and the battery life was greatly improved as i get almost 2 days of autonomy as it was with the Touch Cruise.
Hope this can help you too.
This didn't last long, it happened again. 70 % of battery drained over night...
I thought i had it solved but unfortunately i don't understand what's causing this. It went fine for a couple of days.
In my case i thought there was a process consuming batt while on stand by, but now, i don't know anymore.

I have exactly the same. And I am a complainer!!
So much better than my TytnII, and now I use 3G all the time, and have Messenger (Agile) switched on frequently.
I installed only ListPro, Ewallet, Coreplayer, Resco and some minor stuff.
I did nothing of the things written here above.
I am really happy with the battery use. In fact it's the first time I am satisfied with a WM device on the issue of battery.
When (of course) heavily playing with it, the first days, I always let it drain till the last warning and fully loaded it during the night. That's the only thing I can say about it.
I use this 3d Flow.
I have my backlight on auto adjust. I had the idea that it drained faster when full blown, but not sure.
So I am quite shocked/amazed about the experiences here. When will it be my turn?
Huib
About 40 phonecalls a day (ring + vibrate) , 50 emails, 10 or so sms, realtime sync with exchange for both email, contacts and planning, 3G on, bluetooth on, two hours paired with bluetooth carkit, wifi on for like 15 minutes, 1 hour of music, screen on auto and some fiddling around with the settings (changing wallpapers and playing teeter . Start at 6.30 am, back on the charger at 11 pm, still 30% battery left.
I consider that as very good compared to my Tytn i used to have.

Battery poll

How long do most of you go on battery ??
My Fuze with NATF's ROM goes for 2 days easily with medium-heavy data use on a H connection with 15 min auto refresh of 2 email accounts and moderate GPS use with Google Maps.
That's incredible! My old Hermes (8525) didn't make it through the day some times with 1 hr auto email refresh!
Just another happy TP user.
Is TF3D enabled?
Yup - all fully functioning
Just an amazing device...(Or mine is freekishly good...which would be quite nifty)
same here.. it lasts a lot longer than my tilt with its Manilla2d
for me on heavy usage, probably 5 or so hours of internet, games, and calling, i last roughly 12 hours or less... maybe it's the phone adapting to the charge or maybe i screwed up something nasty when i did the original conditioning
My battery life is about the same as my Tilt was. I get about a day's worth of use out of the phone. I am pretty heavy email user (3 accounts, including MS Exchange) and texter. If I don't charge my phone when I go to bed, I'd get an hour or two into the next day and it'd be dead. I was hoping for a better battery life, but at least it's not any worse than the Tilt...
I'm lucky to get a whole day using an hour of wifi and an hour of gps along with about an hour of voice, some texts and some 3G browsing.
I have the touch pro and it lasts about 15 hours with moderate use. 10 calls, 20 text, auto receive email ever 2 hrs, 45 mins to an 1 hr web surfing.
Actually is probably closer to 12-14 hours with moderate use. 20 calls, 30 texts, 45mins to 1 hr of web surfing. auto email receive every 2 hrs.
I use 50 percent battery per day rarely more and i use all of its features thoroughly.
I've gotta say, the GSM version of the touch pro (fuze) has WAY better battery life than the sprint version! What a difference! Returned the sprint one!
would the posters mention how they charged their device upon receiving the unit? the posters with high battery life may be doing something we are not doing resulting in low life
I am around 12 hours during the week with emails calls blueooth active sync. Weekends I get 48 hours easy as.
It's hard to get the most acurate time during the week as I charge the phone over night and never know when it's fully charged and and if it stays fully charged or stops charging.
I'm also using NATF's 1.1 ROM and getting great usage, about 2 days of average use before getting to 20%.
But even before the new ROM the battery was way better than my TyTn. I wanted to run the battery from full charge to dead battery auto-off and I ended watching YouTube videos for about 3 hours straight (to keep the 3G going a full speed). I made it through one full MST3K movie and lots of youtube surfing before it finally died; I got better power usage than my laptop watching DVDs.
Overall I'm a moderate user, and if I forget to charge over night I'm good the next day but will get low batt messages that 2nd night.
Wow, I wonder if there is a quality variance on the batteries that are shipping with the units?
I'm running the stock AT&T ROM still, and will get a 30% drop in battery in 3 hours without even making a phone call. Battery life is worse than with my Tilt. I'm in area that has spotty 3G coverage - it could be some strange interaction while switching between 2G and 3G over and over.
Or maybe there is something NATF is doing in his ROM that is helping battery life?
I'm getting about 15-16 hours with heavy use. I like to text, average at least an hour websurfing on HSDPA, maybe half an hour on WiFi, maybe 2 hours talk time, two e-mail accounts on refresh, and add maybe half an hour to an hour of random organizer/tasks/random crap usage.
If I don't charge at night, I'm pretty much screwed for the next day.
ATT Fuze
ROMeOS 1.4
Batt lasts approx 10hrs. Seems like it could last weeks in standby mode...I'll hit power button on top and come back hours later to find same batt %. During heavy use I can watch the % drop like a lead foot on a V8 throttle.
-No auto sync of emails (I manually dl 4 to 5x's per day)
-Very little GPS use (avg 10mins per day)
-30 mins of phone calls
-40 texts
-1 to 2 hrs web surfing
When I bought the device the battery had approx 40% charge. I ran it down to 10%, then fully charged and ran it down again, then fully charged.
Might try NATF's rom to see if there's an improvement.

Same for me. I can pull it off a charge and 12 hours later it will be 55% with no useage? I am running standard softwae minus bloatware using the trick. Installed Advanced config, Total commander, AE buttons Plus.
I've got a 1.93 rom.use my phone for only calls/sms.with and without tweaks, the battery lasts 24 hours-nothing more-thinking of getting an extended battery
I think that besides the usage, the battery time might also depend on the radio version which control the way your device interact with the service network. There're several radio versions which from: HTC, service providers (At&t, T-mobile...) but it's all compatible with the device. Then would it be possible that we take a look on our radio version and vote on which is the best one for battery life but must adapt all other usages (GPS lock, good signal strength...)?

1 day until battery is empty..?!

Hello, got my Touch Pro ago 2 or 3 weeks. Lately I noticed a rapid decreasing runtime...
I had the phone the whole night (~8hours) connected to the power-adapter
and this morning around 8am it said the battery is completely full. Around 6pm (less then 12 hours) it automatically turned off.
First I had bluetooth or the weather-update under suspicion, but it was all deactivated. Then I turned of anything that would need a connection to the internet (and even with that sporadically on it shouldn't be empty after 12 hours!)... helped nothing. The last thing I thought what might could be the reason was the "SensorLock"-utility. It locks the phone after it goes into standby, nice if you keep it in the leather-bag and you get calls. But even uninstalling that prog didn't help.
What do I do now? If I send it back to Amazon it takes weeks to get a new battery or phone (German amazon sucks). What about HTC itself? Do they have some battery-replacement guarantee?
How much did you use the phone? Where you texting a lot or calling alot? I text about 100-200 sent messages a day, and my phone lasts about the same amount of time.

Nope, no phonecalls (beside one short incomming call) or shortmessages at all. Used it just 30 mins for playing music out of the loudspeaker and to get waked in the morning by the alarm. +300hours standby should'nt be 12 hours if I just use some progs and the display...
The best thing to do is cycle your charge. Leave the phone on until it shuts off and cannot turn on. Then recharge in the off state. Do this and your battery will last longer.
Also, don't leave your phone charging for longer then necessary. I've killed many a phone batteries this way. It should be come general practice to fully charge your battery before you do anything with the phone upon initial receipt. Most phone batteries come with a partial charge, but you should always follow the instruction manual.
I'm not 100% sure, but don't most modern high-end electronics have technology in them that make sure that the battery is not "over-charged" so to speak?
my t-mobile mda, nor my 8525 didnt...
or maybe i was just the victim of two faulty batteries on different phones.
Wow, another battery thread....
Could you please, please use the search option or browse through 4 pages before making a new thread??
Time for a lock.....
i was getting really crappy battery life ( i have a fuze) and this is what i realized:
- romeo's rom kills the battery on the at&t fuze
- S2U2 also kills your battery
-Touch flo is not great for your battery either
i've flashed NATF's rom, and disabled s2u2 (still running tf3d) and i still have about 40-50 % battery life after a full day (medium usage)
good luck
omar
use search...
there are apps that run while your device is off
also, things like 3g/hspda run the battery down quicker
and batteries cant be overcarged these days why would they invent cradles if they wanted us to let the device fully run out before charging again?
For two days in a row I have charged my Fuze before going to bed. I made sure it was fully charged, pulled it off the charger, went to bed, in the morning the phone was on it's last bar. 8hrs of sitting on my desk and the phone fully discharges, something is not right here.
Run Adv Config, & turn 3G off when not using 3G.. It's almost as bad as WiFi... otherwise use a taskmanager and see who is using the CPU....shutdown all programs too when the phone is really not being used. I had the Wizard / Hermes and both were crummy on the batteries...
I do have to admit though that the Fuze does seem to consume more battery already....even though I know I play with it since it's new...lol

I charged the battery to full state around 5 times after I got it, thats not the prob. Beside: it shouldn't make a difference if you let it connected to the charger, its LiIon and not a NiCd-battery.
It can't be that the battery dies after 2 weeks of use, even in a worst-case scenario! If, HTC is ****ed.

As I said earlier, I had the HTC Tytn before, and it really had a standby-time of around 300hours, so if I didn't use it and just carried in my jacket and received here and there some messages or calls it lasted around 3-4 days.
But the TouchPro now only lasts 12 hours "just in my jacket"?? Hello?
And: yes UMTS(3G) makes the battery-time smaller, yup. But e.g. from 350hours to 300 hours, not from 350hours to 12! Even if a GPRS/3G connection is established, as long no data is transfered the connection should, beside some IP-data to keep the connection alive, not make a much less battery-life... again think about the 350hours.

yes, that sucks. i never had any GPRS/3G connection, just enabled and the phone was dead after 12 hours or even earlier.
but since i disabled UMTS my battery lasts a week and longer, im really happy with the device now (but its annoying that i have to enable 3G everytime i need it)
Well in my eyes it is not normal, or if then mis-manufactured stuff.
I would like to know where the difference between the TyTn and the TouchPro is (in case of the UMTS-part) if it was before possible to get a week standby-time and now it dies after a half day.
Oh and btw.: where can I turn off UMTS? In the tytn with Schaps ROM i could do it in the comm-manager.
In the TouchPro I only have buttons for Phone, Wifi, Bluetooth, Flightmode, and DirectPush (what I can't use... no idea how. Works only with MS Exchange-server, huh?)
I know that it says 300 hours, but you'd be foolish to actually expect that. Those conditions would be pretty much not touching the phone, with no programs running, no calls, texts, updates (e-mail, weather, etc), in order to acheive 300 hours.
I'm on a stock AT&T rom albeit with more tweaks than I could possibly imagine with moderate usage (a few phone calls, dozen or so texts, an hour or two of surfing, push e-mail on two accounts updated hourly, GPS for about an hour, maybe more that I can't think of) and I hit about two days.

Well, yes. But not only 12 hours without any running program and without any calls and dataconnections.

Another my battery sucks thread!!

OK. I'm a week into my TP CDMA by Alltel. I have the GC ROM installed and am not using any of the TouchFlo stuff. I am using SPB/S2U2/Pocketalarm to get a decent setup. I have backed off my email to check once every 10 minutes for one account and only once every 4 hours for the other two.
I have the screen dimmed to almost unviewable, and screen blanks at 10 secs, no BT, no wifi. yet despite that, coming off a full charge this morning having sent 10 texts, checked 2 emails and NO internet NO phone calls. I'm at 62% at 10AM.
By the end of the day with ANY use I'll be dead. I'm coming from a MotoQ that I added the 2100Mah battery which lasted very well but not an option for this phone. Reading that GPS being on may impact the battery but I'm not seeing that the GPS stays on in any way I can determine.
What can I do this is horrible. other tweaks changes? carry another battery? Sucks to thin I'll have to carry a second battery just to make it through the day with minimal use.
Please advise. I like the phone but I just can't justify the abysmal battery life.
Shawn
Im at 94% and I have been using fm radio for 1 1/2 hrs. I think your rom or radio has problems. If other users with same radio and rom dont have the same issue then get your phone replaced.
now at 54% done nothing except 2 more txt.
CDMA use more juice than GSM? (just wondering if comparing apples-apples).
Other CDMA ROMS that people are using with good radio/battery success?
i have the alltel stock rom and my battery is bad to, do the battery tweaks in the wiki help alot? mine isnt as bad as yours i can go to about midnight while sending quite a few texts and a small amount of internet.
You using the latest version of S2U2? I believe anything before 1.40 had a bug that was causing it to drain the battery fast.
Also, look at the S2U2 FAQ at the 8th question:
Q. S2U2 consumes a lot of power?!
A. Make sure there is no music player running in the background.
A. Don't use GIF wallpapers.
A. Don't use a folder of wallpapers.
A. Turn off "Show Appointment".
A. Turn off "Show Weather".
A. Turn on "Don't use Keyboard Hook".
A. Turn on "Ignore screen orientation"
A. If any "auto-rotation" application is installed, please add "S2U2" to it's exception list.
A. Turn on "Safe Mode".

That's atleast one place to start.
My phone just died too its 3:20PM, I took it off the charger this morning, checked a couple emails, then for the past 2 hours I have been chatting on IRC through DATA not Wifi, and the past hour ive been switching between Opera and zsIRC.... I also used the FM radio recently for about 10 mins to try it out... is this a lot of strain on the battery or should it last longer, I have the AT&T Fuze with stock rom.
Sometimes I think that there are people in this world (including myself) that suck the life out of batteries no matter what the device is.
My battery life was awful until I changed ROMs and radios.
Now. at around 3pm with fairly heavy use (msn on all day starting around 8am, texting, internet use) on any average day I have roughly 50% battery left with the 1500mAh battery from seidio, which is good enough for me.
the only thing is, I never use 3g as I have a euro raphael so I can only use edge.
Aren't you keeping your Data Connection on all day long? Try to do that on an iPhone. I only turn my Data Connection on when needed so the battery will last longer.
I'm with Alltel as well and mine can go about 8-10 hours with 10-15 texts, 10-20 minute calls, 5-10 emails.
Have you turned off auto update on the weather and windows updates. Also turn off location. (If you want GPS, then you need to turn it back on)
well, I have since reflashed to a new ROM and am having a much better response. getting much better battery but i also have the data connection off after 40 secs. I do have gps on but i thought it was only active when called by a program? ROM made biggest difference. still not 100% happy but getting better.

battery life. With which ROM they lives longest?

With Energy standart from 17Sep09- it took 5 hours until full discharge...
Impossible... check Radio or Rillphone...

wow thats hillarious...
my 16 sept 09 build need about 2 days to fully discharge..
backlight is set to auto
3g off
data connection only if needed
and of course matching rillphone and Radio...
what with u?
You cannot measure a ROM's battery life performance by installing a ROM and seeing how long it takes to die. The device needs time to calibrate. About 1 week of normal usage minimum. After I flash a ROM, I'll sometimes get 5-12 hours on the first charge. After a week I get typically 48-72 hours per charge. This is with screen at full brightness, 3g/data on, lots of txt and calls etc. This has been my experience with all of NRG's ROMs. I do install the recommended radio, no need to mess with rilphone.dll if you are using Energy ROMs with the recommended radio.
With TAEL rom and 1.11.25.01 I was at 71% after 3 days of liberal usage. I am trying NRGZ's latest build now but TAEL's ROM has been by FAR the best I have ever used. I haven't left NRGZ since I got my Fuze 6 months ago, and TAEL instantly switched me. Battery life is much better, the ROM is better in every category. I recommend TAEL, with ENERGYRom a close second.
I get exactly 24 hours from full charge to less than 10%.
3G always on
Data connection always on
a few phone calls, a few texts, light data usage (web, rss, email, maps)
Using latest EnergyROM
I can get 1.5~2 days maximum if I turn 3G off, data off, and further limit data usage.
This phone is just extra bad with battery life in general. Even with the stock ATT rom I wasn't able to get more than 2 days.
am I the only one that uses a cradle charger with an extra battery and not care about batt life.
I care more about the quality of the rom.

nah, I would also prefer a newer/better performing ROM at the expense of battery life (which isn't always the case). As long as it last me throughout the day im fine.
Battery life is also highly dependant on geography. When I'm in the country (with coverage at all) the battery runs much quicker.
These are all subjective matters and opinions. You can not compare the use that each one makes and where each one makes it. Too many variables. The time it takes to discharge does not mean anything, or it says very very little to the other person.
It would be interesting if someone conducted a benchmark with some metrics to evaluate what each ROM consumes and where does the power goes (which apps, backlight, ...).
Maybe one day we can have a standard benchmark, maybe a simple thing, which can be used by the chefs when they release their ROMs, or by someone else, and that gives results that we're able to compare.
Perhaps someone who is reading this, is willing take this challenge and develop such a benchmark. That would be great.

I generally get the same usage with 3G and Data set to "always on", gps daily and maps. I can go a full 24-36 hours routinely and over the weekend if i'm not on the phone a full two days. I'm a flash ***** so i've had this on several ROMS including Energy and NATF.
I always use the ril with the appropriate radio, but accidentally used the 1.12.25.19 ril with radio 1.14.25.35 with great success... In doing this I was getting super battery life immediately....
But at the end of the day you need to find what combo works for you, what may be great for me in Atlanta may totally suck butt in San Diego or anyplace else for that matter. So test test test and report back...
i can only suggest this: LevelSightSvc.1.0.3.2.CAB
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=446434
install, go to power settings, disable SO auto adjust, and set the slider in the position u like (i usually set the 3rd step from the left).
LevelSightSvc fully replace the system autolight with HUGE improvement of my battery life.
Try it.
There are lots of things to take into account with battery life. Your radio can play a huge role as well as the base build the rom was built on. Then the various settings and apps suckle the battery tit also.
I put my phone on a charger every night before I go to bed since I use it as an alarm clock too. I usually have 60-70% left over with some light GPS, full brightness, a dozen texts and 5-6 calls. I don't know how accurate that is since I'm a chef and flash my phone 5-6 times a day. The latest one I've used for a while and seems nice.
there's a prog from nueROM called nueDynamicClock which underclocks your cpu when it's on standby or when the screen is off. it will increase your batt life significantly if your phone is on standby for long periods of time..
I agree with some of the others.
I am currently using EnergyRom Genesis build 09-20-09 (1.14.25.05 radio) and my battery doesn't run out that quickly. I recently did a stress test (as a comparison to a Nokia E71 I own) and the phone went roughly 5 hours before it hit 10%.
However, take my usage into consideration:
1) 3G always on
2) Heavy data usage (Youtube, Internet Radio, web surfing, etc)
3) Receiving text and emails
Obviously, that is very heavy usage, and will naturally drain the battery, but it took five hours to do so. By comparison, if I had just use it normally, it would last roughly 1.5 days.
