KAISER "aka AT&T 8529" - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III Windows Mobile ROM De

AT&T have been awesome replaced my 8525 under warranty for an 8925.
Okay a bit scared but I like to know is the original Kaiser HTC rom ...
RUU_Kaiser_HTC_WWE_1.56.405.5_radio_sign_22.45.88 .07_1.27.12.11_Ship.exe,
includes the same features the UK HTC with touchflo, etc.. or is it a strip down version? Also herd that many blote/trial wares is not loaded, true?
Thanks all....

Lucky bastard, they didnt offer me the Tilt when i got it fixed. But anyways, it should be the same UK HTC Rom and you should be able to find everything to know in this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=341024

AT&T replace the 8525 after I told them that this was my 3rd replacement phone. The 1st phone loses signal, 2nd DOA and the 3rd was fine for 4 months then the keyboard backlight failed. AT&T rep was nice and informed me that I qualified for a 1 time upgrade ...
I've been with many phone carry and by far AT&T do me right each and everytime.

Damn, I tried to pull the same thing. Foolish me took a 1 time device swap for a Windows powered Treo. I tried to convince them that the Treo was a POS that I sent back the day I got it, so it shouldn't count -- but no such luck. Enjoy!

so keep sending the treo back? lol.. there is no one time thing because ive been upgraded from a 8125 > 8525 now a tilt.. and the only phone ive paid for was my first 8125

Does the phone need to be sim unlock to flash the original HTC rom?

Guide on how to unlock an Orange TYTN II by UKBATMAN (from post #55)
Want another guide? See post #217
Please note this phone is also known as: HTC Kaiser (T-mobile Vario III, HTC P4550, HTC TyTN II, AT&T Tilt)
On your phone do the following START / SETTINGS / CONECTIONS / USB TO PC. Remove the tick “Enable advanced network functionality”
Using Activesync 4.5 to copy all your contacts / phone data to outlook Activesync 4.5 can be downloaded here: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/activesync/activesync45.mspx
Removing the “SIM LOCK”, the mobile network provider of your phone could have added a “SIM LOCK”.
An easy way to check this is by inserting another network provider’s Sim into your phone, if your phone works please jump to the next step.
If not I was able to unlock my phone using the following link:http://www.imei-check.co.uk/kaiser-unlock.php
Additionally I believe user tupisdin can also provide this service for a nominal fee.
Or you could use OliPro's SIM/CID Unlocker or Jockyw2001's SIM Unlocker
Removing the “CID LOCK”, the mobile network provider of your phone would have added a “CID LOCK”.
POF has the answer for this, follow this link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=334679
New ROM, once the “CID LOCK” has been removed you will need a new ROM, follow this link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=331900
Locate and download RUU_Kaiser_HTC_WWE_1.56.405.5_radio_sign_22.45.88.07_1.27.12.11_Ship.exe.
Connect your TYTN II to your pc wait for the green ActievSync symbol and run the RUU_Kaiser_HTC_WWE_1.56.405.5_radio_sign_22.45.88.07_1.27.12.11_Ship.exe file.
The only thing I do not like is you get a splash screen saying “smart Mobility” Splash ftp://ftp.xda-developers.com/Uploads/Kaiser/Splash/
Additional information and Rom’s can be found here
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HTC_Kaiser
I hope this helps, If anyone can locate new / updated roms please post the links. PS. I'm a newbie at flashing but I hope I have made it as plain and simple as possible for my fellow newbies.
Many thanks for xda-developers as I now have an Orange TYTN II unlocked and rid of Orange software.
Enjoy UKBATMAN.

Hi,
I've got myself an orange branded kaiser last week and managed to CID-unlock (thanks pof) and and SIM-unlock (thanks tupisdin) the device. but I've read few threads mentioning not to flash any rom to it no matter what. Just wanted to know if anyone has managed to flash a cooked rom sucessfully to an orange branded kaiser. Any gotchas, also is there an Orange rom as backup just in case for warranty.
Regards
lkw
Please help!
I hard-spl'd and ran the HTC RUU.. and after that the phone nicely restarted and asked me for an unlocking Simlock code...
WHAT? which sim card lock? I didnt change the sim...its an Orange UK one..
I tried looking for answers..but the topic seems to be all over the place!
is there a short answer?
Thanks
sim unlock
yes the short answer is you have your phone locked out of all networks
you should have read the forum before
but as you found the forum if you contact tupisdin and make a donation to xda he will unlock it for you
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=314547
you can get it from orange for £20.00 but it will take 3 weeks
sorry
steven
Thanks alot for the informaiton,
I got in contact with that member and he told me what donation I need to make... That its just after I got off the phone from Orange CS. I managed to get it off them for free (They tried charging me, but as im a silly heavy user +£100 a month for the past three years, they decided to let it off for free)
However, as you say, it might take 5-15 working days... therefore, I will have a rather fancy TomTom Navigator without a phone!!!.
I am trying to understand what went wrong.. how come it got locked up? and is there a way to undo this?
Taking a wild stab in the dark I would guess that orange have managed to do more than just change the os keeping the simlock in place however flashing to another rom may have scuppered that setup and as it has not found the orange rom it sees it as incompatible and therefore pops up the sim unlock feature of the phone to release the phone from orange.
bit of a sneaky way of doing things but highly possible if they have all the developer kit from HTC as to what they can do with the phone. It seems that the sim was linked to the rom somehow.
Russ
Hi
I plan on doing the same think with my Orange UK TyTn II tomorrow when I get it.
I am only flashing the OS...am I correct in assuming you flashed everything including the radio stack?
Thanks
Thomas
TYTN II Orange UK IMEI Change after Flashing with HTC ROM
I guess I did...
although I sepnet like 4 hour reading about what needs to be done... until when the sh$£ hit the fan..only then i started see all the bells and whistels mentioneing CAUSION... WARNING... DO NOT FLASH ORANGE UK!!!
Oh Welll
Now what is puzzelling me even more the following:
On the TYTN II box, there is a sticker with the IMEI number.. which is exactly the same as the one on the tag under the battery...
NOW.. after having flashed the thing...I checked IMEI thru Hardware details in settings... and surpise surprise: there are two more digits at the end of that same IMEI! so its the same number but with a 01 at the end...
What happend here? I thought a simple flash will not touch your imei...
Yet another thing to screw things up for OS Changers!
All Resolved.. IMEI code entered.. Phone unlocked.. Everyone lives happily Ever After!
A couple of weeks ago I was all ready for getting my new Kaiser from a website offering unbranded HTCs on Vodafone. The price of these was not cheap at £210 for the phone and £40 a month line rental but I was prepared to pay that just so I could get an unbranded, un-tainted version of the Kaiser, that is until I rang up Orange to cancel my contract and obtain the PAC code that lets you keep your existing number. During this call they offered me a free Kaiser plus a better contract if I stayed with them. I had a feeling that Orange might have screwed around with the software so I said that I would go into the Orange shop and have a look at one before I took them up on this offer. When I managed to get to check out the Orange Kaiser I saw that as expected Orange had completely ruined a perfectly good phone, AGAIN!
My question is how easy is it to debrand the Orange Kaisers. I've seen all the messages saying there's a big risk of sim locking etc etc. But I want to know from people that have unlocked their phones successfully/unsuccessfully how difficult it is. I've de-branded phones in the past so I have a decent understanding.
I also want to know how much of the Orangeness can be removed. Is it removed totally or are there still traces of the rubbish software left? Also how does the de-branding affect the phones features? Do you lose any of the features by de-branding?
Finally what are peoples opinions on whether to go for the free branded Kaiser and unlocking it or spending £210 for the unbranded?
Your replies will be much appreciated
Ben
everything of the orange **** can be removed. If you flash your ROM with one of the cooked here -or even the offical HTC ones- it's gone. Done it myself, now running Dutty's ROM. Go for the cheapest and get your cooked ROM's on this forum
You can install the HTC shipped ROM on an orange phone... I did this because I use windows live messenger and Orange have removed it from their ROM.
BUT...
You will have to pay to SIM unlock your phone (£20 from EMEI-CHECK or £25 from this site - don't even get me started on that)
That's ok if you build it into your calculations of the cost of the phone. Just remember, "de-branding" your phone with the HTC ROM will cost ya.
I'd highly recommend it... and downloading the TomTom taster too (another thing orange have removed - doh!)
why would he have to pay? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=334679

Because that only CID unlocks the phone which is different to the sim card lock which I believe engages itself when flashing a rom onto a orange kaiser the first time around.
correction;
FEATURES
SuperCID / Security Level=0
Does not check NBH signatures
Based on 1.50 MFG bootloader, rtask enabled
Accept any password
Model ID check only 4 chars
SPL overwrite DISABLED (to bypass, use SSPL-KAIS.exe)
SUPER-CID is mean can unlock carrier too. example.. use at&t tilt on t-mobile and so on

Sorry I not going to bite on this one I'm just ask you to think long and hard about what you have just said and if you have any free time read up on the differences of CID lock and SIM lock.
Im gonna have to agree with Ratcom...
I tried it myself..i got out of business for three days (that being my phone simlocked)
The CID unlock thread mate-y is talking about doesnt seem to leave Prange UK TYTN II any happy!...
I am now Running Duttys latest (with two russian imperfections lol) and its beautiful...If orange are offering it to you for fre.. id go for that and by loading duttys ROM.. you'd be well pleased!
If benl2k is happy to stick with Orange and use an Orange SIM , then (s)he won't need to SIM unlock it (although I'm sure that free SIM unlocking will come along in time if you keep checking out XDA-Devs).
The question was about getting rid of the Orange rubbish/crippling, and that can be done easily using the info on this forum...
bigchemist, what are the 2 imperfections you mentioned? Also how exactly did you get rid of the sim-lock. Am I correct in understanding that when you flash the Orange ROM it locks the phone so that not even your Orange sim will work with the device?
HARDSPL should be installed before flashing any ROM on your device.
Orange UK seemed to have made substantial changes to the Radio ROM of this device.
Any Orange UK Kaiser user should only flash the OS part of the ROM. DO NOT flash any Radio ROM until this has looked into further. Flashing any Radio ROM on an Orange UK device will result in the device being completely SIM Locked (even to Orange), unless you SIM unlock your device first. You can SIM unlock if you have already flashed an alternate radio but atm there are no free ways to do this. Have not tried flashing Splash screens but one would assume that this would be OK.
HARDSPL does not SIM unlock your device. It CID unlocks your device so you can flash alternate vendor ROMs.
tell me.......
so i take it once you unlock the sim lock - cost 20 quid, you can then do anything you want, like cid removal without any fear of locking the phone out again??? once its unlocked the first time, you never have to worry about a second lock popping out the blue????

My Faves T-Mobile UK on unbranded handset

I've just tried this and despite the info on Howardforums. The numbers I enter on t-mo.co.uk wont register. Seems we need the Dash cab file or need to use a My Faves handset for initial activation.
H
I think the My Faves cab file (from a T-Mobile US wing rom) is called wispa_PPC_Atlas_Release-2-0-0-0.CAB.
I installed it to have a look, but my Trinity wouldn't start...so a bit stuck really.
H
where can i get the my faves cab file at thanks
If you could be arsed reading my post...you'd have a good idea of the answer. There isn't one for UK atm. If you want the US one...you can get it from the Wing extended rom. Freezes my phone on boot tho.K
T-Mobile shop have no My Faves handsets for me to borrow for 10mins...They've not been sent demo stock apparently.
T-Mobile CCR was very suspicious on the phone and made me sound feel like I was doing something criminal.
Their selection of handsets is poo quite frankly and they haven't bothered to offer software for they're own branded phones. Whole thing is a big brother style scam. There's no reason to have this authorisation style handshake with the installed app on the phone for christ's sake. They won't switch me back to Flext either...tho I have a 7 day cancellation policy in place so I can return upgraded handset (Vario III)...revert to Flext plan then re-upgrade again.
Pain in the buttox!
may i ask if you have been able to get myFaves to work on a non-myFaves mobile please?
thanks a lot

Updated to HTC kaiser generic rom but wont accept any sims

Hi,
I have used hard_SPL and then flashed with Factory Shipped ROM form HTC, i'm using an orange tytn II and now it wont accept any UK sim not even orange the network it's on, i've done everything as POF advised but still no correct sim.
Please Help if you can.
bad luck
many of us with orange roms have had the same problem when flashing our kaisers. if you update the radio then you need to unlock the phone, if youve had your contract longer than three months then just phone orrange and theyll charge you a minimal fee to unlock it or you can do it here:
http://www.gsmfactory.com/
Cheers, i realised soon after lol I've only just got the phone. Can't seem to get the website to go into English lol. may have to used babelfish.

Can non-HTC supported ROM suddenly ruin mainboard?

Hello. I'll apologize in advance for being technologically challenged. I bought an AT &T Tilt (HTC 8925) on Ebay almost a year ago and it worked fine for months. About a month or so ago, I started to get the message "no service" when I knew I was in an area of very good AT&T service. Within a day, I started to get the message "no sim" so I tried the sim in my husband's phone and it wouldn't work there either. So, I assumed the whole incident was due to a dying sim. I got a new sim and the phone worked great for about a couple of months. Then, last week, I started gettng the "no service" message again. This time, I sent the phone to HTC repair since they said they'd diagnose for free. They called me to tell me that the problem is I had a non-HTC supported ROM which ruined my main board and they could fix it for nearly $400. They say even though the phone is under warranty, the non-suppported ROM voids my warranty. They said the ROM was for a TYTNII and not 8925 and so it was just incompatible. Are they taking advantage of me becasue I don't know any better? I bought the phone specifically because it was unlocked and have never had a problem buying an unlocked phone online before. Do you think the person who unlocked the phone to sell it to me could have used the wrong ROM and it slowly damaged my phone or is that just nonsense? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
have you tried to reflash it?
Get the phone back
Hi
I think that the HTC policy is unfair in practice but in theory they are right. There could be issues to do with charging and temperature which could, in theory, affect a conneciton to the mainboard. If HTC are willing to send you the phone back in the same condition as you sent it to them without charging you I would take this option and flash the "correct" ROM to the device to see if this makes any difference to the problem. The correct ROM would be an update from AT&T for the Tilt. The other thing is to get a second opinion from an independent phone engineer if you can find one. It may not actually need a new mainboard but a new SIM card holder. It would be difficult to say that the incorrect ROM would affect a SIM card holder, so HTC wouldn't diagnose the problem in that way.
Hope that helps.

Andrew,
When you mentioned charging and overheating, I did have to replace my battery as well, it just wouldn't hold a charge anymore. I wonder if you're on to something. I did ask them to send the phone back to me so I should have it in a few days. The other reply I got to my question suggested "reflashing". I really don't know much at all about all of this. Is there a link to how to flash it? I did update the ROM based on a suggestion from HTC using the link on thier website. Before I mailed the phone to them, they thought I might have a radio problem so they suggested the ROM update. I did the update for the tytnII. My phone doesn't have any AT&T software on it, it looks just like the TYNT II photo on the HTC website. Based on that, what would you suggest I "flash" and do you happen to have a link to step by step instructions?
from that it sounds like htc told you to flash a kaiser rom the a TILT phone

HTC Fuze Hard Reset

Hi All,
I bought a HTC Fuze last year that was locked and branded to AT&T, I'm in Canada and my friend who owns the cell phone shop that sold it to me unlocked it and unbranded it for a fee. So it was unlocked which I hear At&T does for free and unbranded to make it think it was a HTC Touch Pro. I love technology and so I played around with it everyday. Now it's gotten a bit laggy and I played around with a program called Advanced Config. I want to do a Hard Reset but reading the service manual for the HTC Raphael, there should be a message that says something about the going back to manufacturer's default. My Question is will this delete the unlocking code and unbranding Rom or should they stay in one peace, and if they are deleted can you guys help me do the same thing again.
Thanks
Hamza
Hard reset will not undo unlocking. Unlocking is something more on the firmware level and a hard rest only clears your user data. Wouldn't affect the ROM either.
