iChange ( rind tone changer project ) - General Topics

[Please guide if this is not the right place to post this kind of posting]
Hi Guyz,
As i dont like change a lot, I am on the system requirement analysis, of Project "iChange"
I have selected the language, I am gonna use use PPL (pocket programming language)
I am little bit confused that i should use Database, As my plan is to have at least 5 different ringtone, so my application can change them, Timely..
I have planned for SQLite, i wanna know that is there need of Data base or not. yup that is all depend on me, but what about your suggestions..
Is SQLite is compatible to PPL or not...
Kindly suggest..
ya it is little bit awkward, as people know there phone by there ringtone.
But I hate change a lot, and i wanna change my this habit. So I am on this project.
Along this post i am registering this project to google code, so that i can invite some free software culture people..

Not much help from me. However, some $0.02
[1] 'iChange' is probably not the best name you can get for the project. Being relatively related to 'i'-you-know-what is an issue.. but it also have like a few other products with the name. Google it.
[2] Getting a database to store information on the ringtone may be a bit overkill. Unless someone has like a 1000+ ringtone to be organized and.. queried.
[3]. I'm a bit confused that you.. actually said that people recognise their phone by the ring tone and you hate changing it.. hence making this project? confused

Please suggest about the name,
even second point is true, thanks a lot for suggestion.
about 3rd point, I am quite resistive to change, but i dont wanna be, so making this Application...
I hope that i made that clear..

name is a personal preference. can't suggest much to you. keep iChange if you want.
Anyway, you may want to read this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=327081&highlight=

[DIY ICONS] 'Popular Style' Icons

I don't think I will be very popular, but I don't like having some icons looking nice and others that don't look so good...
Everyone knows where the originals come from and I would like to claim no credit for this at all.
My blank icon template is around 95% as accurate as the original, and with an icon inserted behind it in Photoshop, I'm sure you will not tell the difference once on your phone (I can't).
Your finished icon will only be as good as the image/icon beneath the template, and the template must be the top layer. Save as highest resolution .png files and stick them on your phone.
My examples are in the zip file, along with the PS Template.
I WILL NOT BE DOING REQUESTS - I DON'T HAVE TIME!! (sorry)
Hey buddy, thank you so much for this! I feel exactly the same - I hate having a few apps & games with irregular icons contrary to the overall theme. This contribution is perfect will allow me add my own personal icons Much due respect & credit to DINIK, whom I hope doesn't mind?
If anyone else has used my blank icon template and has produced any icons they would like to share with everyone, then feel free to post them on here.
I have done a couple more... they all look good on the phone.
IF you get time is there any chance of posting steps to putting image behind template?

Hi,
You need to firstly have your icon that you want to put behind the template. It should have a transparent background, ideally in a good resolution PNG format. (create one in Photoshop if you can't find one)
Then in Photoshop, open the button template I have attached in the zip files above.
From the 'File' menu in Photoshop, select 'Place...'.
Locate your icon graphic, and it will be placed on the template.
From here, you can play around with shadows and effects to suit your taste. If you want to resize it, hold the 'Alt' key while dragging from a corner to maintain ratio.
Make sure the 'placed' graphic is the bottom layer in the list on the right, you can click and drag the layers to re-order them. So button blank on the top, graphic on the bottom.
When you are happy with the icon, go back to the 'File' menu and select 'Save for web', and name and save as highest resolution PNG with the transparency selected. It'll preview before you save it.
Simply save the new icon to your phone and set it as you would any other icon on your phone.
Job done.
Thank you very much for the icons and for the psd file, appreciate it very much.
I know that you dont take requests, but i would kill for an icon to ameba

@ nniicckkss, I share your point of view about creators not or partly sharing, and I believe that if you want to share anything why not share components so other creators can supplement what original creators started to share. It's quit frustrating to have a half-ass theme on your phone.
However, Dinik always shares and provides almost everything you ask for, all you need to do is show respect to the original author, look at it like copyright The way you handle this is quit disrespectful and far from decent. Why don't you just respect Dinik and ask him to help or provide? (I assume that didn't happen, if I mistake than sorry and forget my reply).
@ Dinik, thanks for all your material, I specially love the Anastasia series. You can also think of it as a great compliment, only great artists are worth copying It would be a shame if you'd take offence to this and withdrew your material due to this lack of moral.
I think both of you should handle this in a mature fashion, Nniicckkss, next time ask and pay respect and Dinik look at this as a compliment and just continue providing us with your beautiful artwork.
I take down ALL my works!!!
Why?
Because of some users like nniicckkss.
What did they done to make me take that decision?
Most people here are rely GREAT! But there are some...that just dont respect Artists like me...they dont respect my wishes...they just rip my works...modifiy them and post it.
I clearly have writen my Rules...Here:

Thanks nniicckkss for sharing your files. I also have Diniks icons and it bothers me to have some regular icons mixed in with the others. I am not good at photoshop at all but I managed to figure out basic layering and I made my own icons (albeit nothing compared to Dinik's). So thanks for sharing the blank layer as that is one I cannot do at all.
I don't see what the big deal is here. nniicckkss said he was not taking credit for anything and we (those who have anastasia icons) know that it is all original Dinik. So Dinik, man, get a hold of yourself! You are fighting with almost everyone in this forum (like DJC)! I love your work but man, it seems like you cannot work with others or take too many things seriously!
I don't think you don't see the point of nniicckkss post. Do you really want everyone to bombard you with requests for icons for everything? Unless you provide us with all possible icons that we will install in our phones then we will gladly erase all copycat or self-made icons as your icons are definitely high quality BUT IN THE END, THEY ARE JUST THAT...ONLY ICONS. You could move on to bigger and better things like skinning the hell out of the hd2 interface and make a full on anastasia theme which everyone loves!
That said, DInik, thank you for your icons, You should be flattered that everyone wants to copy you. ANyway, I hope you change your mind after you have cooled off. This is the most drama I have seen in this forum for icons.
PEACE!
Thanks for the icons, looks great to have a complete Games folder. CBA about whos is who, its not like he copied your icons, he just made the missing ones, right?
If i had any idea how to use Photoshop i would have done this long ago. Sucks to not being able to get your requests done. And yes, i know you have alot to do, so agian, thanks for helping Dinik out with the requests
Response
Firstly, I have removed the ink from 'your' thread, that was insensitive of me, I apologise. Although somebody has quoted the link in their pointing out my error!!
However, I have not set out to try to out do you, or rip you off. Simply to help people fill in a few gaps in their icon sets.
Your icon set is really nice. Nice one for sharing your work with us all. There was a long wait for the second icon pack, but everyone was patient and when it came I think everyone was pleased... but I personally was only 90% satisfied with the contents (not in quality, but is the completeness of the set - quality was top stuff). You only have to read your own thread to see that there are quite a few people who have a few icons outstanding to 'complete' their icon sets for popular programs. (Personally I think it is impossible to 'complete' a set as there will always be an icon that somebody still wants.) People still seem to post on there almost daily to request something...
You make it quite clear how you are a busy man, I can completely understand as I wouldn't have time to 'do all that you do', as a hobby (or do you make living out of this...?). I have waited and waited for the next update but you seem tied up in other things, which also look quite nice too. So I decided to complete my own set of your famous style of icon.
I wouldn't know where to start with the other things you do, or that a lot of the people on this forum get up to, it does impress me. Actually, I'm a little bit hooked on browsing this forum because of the things people are doing with their phones. I wouldn't want to criticise or negatively comment on anyone's hard work as most of it is beyond my capabilities. Likewise I don't like the way some people keep on requesting things, whether it is an icon, an app or something of the like, and sometimes they seem to do it impatiently. I had requested on your thread, but maybe you only do icons for your friends, but I will not repost and insist on you doing them for me.
No, instead I thought I'd have a go at completing your icon set myself, and as I could see that a lot of other people were missing the odd icon or few, I thought I'd try and help them complete their set too by posting a half decent template (maybe until your next set comes out when they can change them back to your icons, but their choice).
Anyway, this way people don't have to wait (if they don't want to), and the odd program that might not ever get an official icon can be created as required and still match the set.
As for you removing all of your recent projects from the forum and making me look like I am ripping you off - please, I am not doing this at all. I don't want credit for creating this template, I do not ask for donations, I don't really want to do requests either. I just wanted to help a few people to make their phones look nice and tidy.
It would be good for the forum if you could reactivate your posts. 'People like me' really can't get near people like you when it comes to knowledge of doing all of this stuff, the best I can do is crop a couple of images in Photoshop and share my effort with people. I am a taker without the knowledge/time/ability to give much back.
I think you are over reacting somewhat with your actions (I won't say that you are being childish, but some might). I am a bit surprised at how you handled this. I would encourage you to keep up the good work, it is interesting to see yours and others developments, and with all the time you have spent doing all of that it would be a bit of a waste of time.
Lastly, I apologise to everyone who this has effected, in the other posts being taken down. What can I say - I was just trying to help...
@nniicckkss and others
you might think that im over reacting....or that my distinction is to hard...but...i was hard working on all my projects...not only for me...for all you here...and many of you using something from me...most of the roms using my icons or sliders. only my 1st hd2 iconset was downloaded over 10.000dls...and by the way i was working on new projects and planing to do much more for all you here!
i think im doing much for all of you here...so why the hell you dont accept my wishes?! if i post some rules...and the rules are fair enough...why you dont follow them...why you breaking them...it was not for funn to post the rules.
Many romcookers asking me to use something from me...and i never ever said no to anyone...because they asking me and follow some simple and fair rules.
do you think i have no rights as an artists? do you really think if i do something...im ok with that if somebody do with my work whatever he wants? if it where so...i would write it down...by telling that my works a free stokes.
@nniicckkss...did you asked me if im all right with that...did you asked me...hey dinik...could i post a template for your icons...no you dont...because you dont respect other creators wishes...even now...you didnt removed your zp files...i have spent countless hoers...to make many people happy...this is not my work...and i dont get rich from that...the only think what i want...is to show me respect...and follow some simple rules of me.
but as you and some others thinks...that i wonting to much...i cant go on with that.
@nniicckkss Remove your riped files
@admins start response on my messages...and give your statement to this...if its ok for xda...then im in the wrong forum...and go away for ever...because i as artist...want to have some simple rights!
guys...i rely like this community...but dont forget...you cant always only take and dont give anything back...i worked hard...to try giving you all something great...and i was asking nothing much...think about it

Congratulations for not asking Dinik in the first place and not being patient enough to let him do his own work in his own time. One icon not skinned as the rest doesnt mean "he's busy, so ill make a DIY icon so anyone can knock off his style"
All you had to do was ask, and respect his wishes, but now you have ruined it for everyone. To all those who think hes over reacting, well you have obviously never had any personal work stolen and or used / modified for someone elses benefit.
If you did actually mean the apology, then you would take down this thread and then think about why hes pissed so much.

WTF; really?
I call BS on diniks (especially in light of the earlier fracus with DJC)! Yes sir, this is childish behaviour! I almost always stray away from these kind of altercations on XDA, but for this, I want my opinion heard...
@Dinik: Your icon set and theme is superb (THE best IMO, and MOSTLY more complete than others), but maybe so much that it's gone to your head... This isn't a contest!
I also am forced to believe that nniicckkss ALSO LOVES your Anastasia theming and icons, as he's gone to the lengths to do his best to recreate your work to finish theming his phone in your style, am I wrong here?
You're a busy man, self-exclaimed. I have many icons that you have not done yet; and let's be honest, if I'm the only one requesting icon 'A' or icon 'B', are you really going to get around to it, just for ME? I want a FULL theme, not something half-arsed!
I was already fiddling around with Photoshop myself when I came across nniicckkss post; saved me some time, I tell you (and if I wasn't so busy outside of my ORD, I prolly woulda' posted a template too!)! All he did was add some eye-candy to my phone, which was already themed in Anastasia...
Let's get to the heart of the matter: Did nniicckkss 'steal' from you? NO!: He emphatically proclaimed on his first post that it was only about 95% of what you've done. He also stated the (what I knew to be the case at the time, but is only now coming to light) obvious fact that you wouldn't like what he had done... Claiming no credit for your original work (I mean, quite obviously it was you he was referring to), he tried to help out a few others, like me, to have a full icon set.
Let's get to the 'legal' heart of it, shall we:
"02. You are free to modify my works, but only for private use. (No Share or Posting here or on other Sites)"
"03. You are not allowed to modify my works and post it here or on other sites. (Without my Permission)"
What is meant by "modify"? Legally, it means taking an ORIGINAL, which you have never posted, and tweaking it. What nniicckkss has done is essentially this: a complete reworking from scratch, based on the same software you also (I assume) use! What that means is, he CREATED it himself!!! You can 'thank' Photoshop for that if you're so inclined...
If I sketch out the Mona Lisa in a notepad, scan it, and post it to the webz as a desktop background: Have I stolen from DaVinci??? Think not... Have I maybe brightened someone's day? Doubtful on that account (I'm a horrible sketch-artist), but you never know... Maybe somewhere in the world there's a desktop background (other than mine???) that has a lousy Mona Lisa sketch!
Lastly: it's not as if he was competing with you at all (not a contest, remember?); he stated 'no requests' and NEVER asked for donations ($$$), right off the bat!
I LOVE XDA, and I hope the admin's see 'right' in this one...
@nniicckkss: Chin up, brah! Regardless, I have my(your) template saved, and if dinik feels he should remove his work from online, then I'll use yours solely!
Okay, /rant ...
Completely Agreed !!!

Need I say more ??? I completely agree with you ... I myself have no skills in photoshop or any other Winmo/Manila skinning (I am in to complete different field) ..however I want my phone to have the best look possible ...
AFAIK so many people requested a blank template from Dinik, to cover up the missing icons till he is done with his busy schedule but never fulfilled... I do understand the way Dinik feels but same time I want to have a complete theme in my mobile.
@nniicckkss, because of you I manage to get some of my uncommon icons done. Thanks a lot mate ...
@Dinik, chill out man..everybody respect you as an artist & believe me I do understand your feelings .. However everybody expect to have a complete theme rather than a half baked one including all the uncommon icons, which I think impossible to cater ... Anyway all the best with your work mate ... but keep in mind if you do not share or if nobody uses your work, the value of your countless hours and your value as an artist will be waisted & gone forever..
All the best mates ....

[ROM] Looking for testers.

Looking for possible ROM testers.
I'm currently learning about the all of the potential that the android operating system has and would like to get feedback and reports from other users. I'm looking for one or two testers (if i get quite a few PM's, i will definitely consider changing this, but I want to stick with a captive audience at least in the beginng). The knowledge level can vary, as I'm looking for feedback and checking to see what works/doesn't work. I only have a few specific criteria that I'm looking for in testers which I will note at the bottom.
A little something about my expectations...
I will in no way ever refer to myself as a developer. I'm merely a person that can follow directions, ask the right questions to the right person, and learn along the way. I'm not starting this to make money, to show off any sort of skills that i may posess. I would just like to make this a hobby as other "developers" and users like myself have done. I cannot promise a fast ROM. I cannot promise that it will look the best (at least in the beginning). I can promise I will take in all feedback and suggestions and have some consideration towards them. My biggest reason for testing is to find all the nooks and crannies and make sure they're clean. I do not have 4G here in arizona, so i have no clue if it works or not (It's based off stock so I don't see any reason it shouldn't). Etc etc..
Tester Criteria
I would like at least one user that has not formatted their SD card with ext2/ext3 file system for apps2sd. I will provide help with this if/when needed and I would like to give instructions to verify that it is working.
Someone who has 4G in there area, that also uses social networking.
Some sort of Instant Messanging application, you name it and I'll download it and make a username. It makes it so much easier to talk and get feedback when a conversation can be held. A definite plus is someone that has a headset and knows how to use programs such as Ventrilo or Teamspeak (think xbox live for Windows).
Patience with myself.
PM me and I will get back with you as soon as i can.
I'll help no apps2sd and I have 4g I'm not a dev dev but know a lot of android stuff b

Custom Auto Corrections... star report?

I created a feature request for Google for a custom auto correction feature, which I think will go a long way in improving upon the stock Gingerbread keyboard.
Please visit the link and star it if you'd like to see this feature added in a future update. http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=14420
Thanks.
I think the keyboard will only get better with future releases. Google recently brought a company called blindtype, so hopefully they will implement it in their keyboard soon.
Anyway, I stared it stock keyboard is kinda bad!!
Ummm ... Doesn't Gingerbread have custom auto-completion? If I type a new word, then click on it, it says to click on it again to add it, then when I type that word, it comes up in the list of auto-completes. Or did I misunderstand what you are trying to achieve?

I starred it, but as soon as my email box starts flooding with all the idiotic "yeah, you google jerks fix this or I'll return my phone" comments that these starred reports tend to attract, I'll be un-starring it.
PLEASE people, only comment on starred reports, be they bug or enhancement requests if your comment actually adds value to the concept or bug report, such as additional steps to reproduce a problem on a bug, or an idea of how to improve the enhancement request. All the other stuff just spams people's mailbox and ticks them off.

With a feature like that, we could move our autocorrects from phone to phone, or better yet, they could be synced to the Google cloud with all the rest of our personalizations. As it stands now, wipe/reset your phone, and your keyboard has to re-learn all your habits/words.
BTW - I've found that whenever people start their post with "ummm..." it's taking as some kind of snarky put down of the person they're responding to. I've had perfectly innocent posts replied to with name-calling and insults over that.

Thanks for the tip/warning. I usually mean ummm to mean, "I'm confused by what you say" and not a snarky put down of the person. I think I understand what he's trying to achieve now and it makes sense to be able to transfer the custom list. Under Language in settings, you can view your list and add or delete words, but that's it. I don't think it would be too hard to add and Import and Export button to it at the very least.
Cheers.

I hear you on the "ummm", it's what I mean too, but it seems to upset people.
Now that's a good tip about going to language settings...I did not know that, but I don't really use stock keyboard, I use SwiftKey almost exclusively, and I believe it puts your auto-correct stuff on the sdcard, so they stick between roms/resets, and you could even move to a new phone.
edit: actually, looking at that Settings user dictionary, is that just user defined words, or actual autocorrects, or does the system use some kind of algorithm to compare what you're typing against those words?
It would be tedious if you have a lot of words, but you could always copy/paste your custom word list into that feature with a pre-saved text file listing them.
Thanks for starring, folks. I agree, I hope people don't get carried away by responding with their every two cents, which ends up just spamming mailboxes.
As for what I mean by custom auto corrections, if anyone is using or have used Smart Keyboard Pro, they'll know what I mean. Basically, you get to edit and choose what specific words you want to be auto corrected to what. For example, if you're prone to typing "km" instead of "I'm" you can create a custom auto correction to make km=I'm. That way, anytime you type "km" by accident, it'll automatically switch it to "I'm."
Another example, "tmr=tomorrow" or "idk=I don't know." You can do this on Smart Keyboard Pro and it's one of the best features in making the typing experience easier.
Bump. This got moved from General to Q&A and got lost in the shuffle. Please visit the link and star the request if you wish to see Custom Auto Corrections implemented by Google. I think it'll enhance greatly the typing experience.
Thanks.

I ended up just blocking the address they send notifications with. All I do is star genuine bugs. It's not like anything helpful ever goes up for those anyway; when it's fixed, it's fixed, and if someone really cares, they'll know it.

I actually use a gmail filter to just archive the things and keep them out of my inbox, then every now and then scroll through to see if anything interesting.
I agree, that code site is pretty much just useless.
The Google Help Forums, though, tend to get a lot of Google employee attention.

[Q] Learning coding

I'm looking to learn how to code, mainly because its something that has always interested me but I have never done. I have no experience in it at all. I'm looking for a book that can set me up with the very basics in java (or is it better to start off with a different language?) and hopefully I can move on from there.
If anyone knows of any good books that could help me I would greatly appreciate a link to it.
Thankyou.

Why does no one use the search before opening another thread?

I seriously could not find an answer to your question by using the search function.

So even on sophisticated websites like this there are still childish idiots like yourself on them. Yes you're probably right in that I should have searched before creating a new thread, however obviously I didn't think of that.
Maybe next time you should try and show maybe at least an inch of maturity when posting. Oh and for someone who would like me to donate to them and buy/download their apps you're not going the right way about it.
I dont know if that because you joined before me or have more posts than I do, this makes you think you have some superiority over me or new members, but it doesn't and remember with every new member is potentially another donation to you for your work. So if you want to carry on alienating these member towards you then carry on but if you don't then you might want to re-think your mentality towards them, because personally I wont be donating or ever downloading any of you apps.
With that said, thankyou for the links.

What you are seeing is my lack of understanding for people creating new threads with topics that have been covered a hundredtimes over.
I'm merely calling you out for your obvious mistake of not using the search.

I don't want anything from you.
You want something from this forum, more exactly from its members.
You want an answer.
You did not pay anything for the knowledge available for free here, neither the time a member puts up to help you out.
What you could do is show some courtesy by using the search function to not waste the time of people who are willing to help out.

Both my join date and post count are indirectly related to this.
It just means that i have seen too many threads like this, which could have been avoid by a few seconds of search.
What is more astonishing is that i still browse the question and answer forums to help people out.
Yeah maybe some people won't get the answer they wanted to hear, but hey you got your answer.
Im confused now, from looking around it looks like python is the most basic of languages but if i was to start with a dummy book for that, would it actually help me achieve learning java? I dont want to get the wrong book and be completely lost because I havent learnt the complete basics.
It seems like everyone says different things and I cant get a clear answer of where to start.
@Dark3n I'm not going to sit here and argue, you have your view I have mine let's leave it at that. If you would like to help me (which somehow i doubt) that would be great, thanks.

The most basic language would be machinecode (ASSEMBLER).
But beleive me that it is really painfull to write and learn.
Python is a nice language to write in, no doubt.
But you should think about what you want to do with your programming skills?
Something Android related?
Then you should look at C for linux kernels and the lower levels of android.
or
Java for Apps and the higher levels of the android os.
If you want to learn java there is no advantage in learning python first, besides that you can program in python and java.
I would like eventually to create an app for android, which is obviously done in java but if i got even the most basic of java books would i still be lost?
Edit: I just remembered there was a thread similar to this one where i already had a lengthy discussion about this topic.

Not totally lost, you will learn about variables, if statements, loops, classes etc. those things are all still valid when writing apps. Those somewhat remain valid through most of the programming languages.
But basic java does not cover connecting your java code with the android user interface or making use of any android feature (rotate display, sensors, telefon,gps,etc.).
But seriously you don't need a book. Of course you can get one if you really want to. I would probably search the amazon bestseller list for something on android programming (for dummies) which does not require previous programming knowledge.
You can also just jump into it, google for "android hello world tutorial" or something like that.
But the official hello world tutorial should do.
Should make you able to write your very first app pretty quick. It's only a "Hello World" app, but hey thats where everyone starts out.
Aside from the programming itself, knowledge of Linux and *nix orientated operating systems would be useful. Terminal commands and such will prove invaluable if you take application development to a professional level in the future.
C and Java are obviously what's mainly involved in Android. But if you want something simple to begin with look at HTML and CSS (which are basically just translation matrixs not languages).

HTML and CSS knowledge would help a bit with the android user interface, but not with the actual code of the apps/programs themself.
I would advise the OP not to start with HTML and CSS if he wants to get into the programming buissness.
Unless you are going to make webpages HTML and CSS takes you pretty far of the track.

HTML and CSS, are two useful skills to have regardless. As you mention for interfacing, and also for the ability to work with Web Apps in the future. For myself learning Javascript and PHP has certainly helped with getting into Java/C.
Certainly HTML/CSS aren't related to learning Java and C but it's a good entrance point to coding in general. Although you yourself may see it as sidetracking, it can help some not to jump in at the deep end.
I wish the OP the best of luck.
Hey dar3n, I had posted a similar thread as well, minus all the attitude, but I agree it does get posted alot, after talking to u and searching around a bit. Why dont u get someone to make a sticky post in one of the newbie rooms, or the q&a. Start a sticky discussion and I bet half these posts dissapear.lol

Occupy Wall Street needs you help developing an app

Developers at XDA.
I’m sure many of you have heard of the Occupy Wall Street movement. Over the past week I’ve become involved and have determined that there is a need that could most efficiently be met through technology and since I know little of developing I’m looking for some assistance.
Here is the problem:
Protesters are not allowed to communicate with a PA system. This means that when we try to organize we need to scream everything out to each other and pass the message along. As you can image, in the game of telephone things get distorted and misunderstood. We need some way to relay messages to anyone who needs it quickly.
Solution:
I believe that an app would be the best way to facilitate this. While there could be updates online, that’s slow and requires people who want to post something online to go to the blog. It also means that we would have to constantly check. It also means that someone would have to type long messages in through a touch screen. Not efficient.
My Idea is for the app comes from seeing the app Coco voice for the iphone. It’s a service where you can speak into your phone and like a text message it sends that vocal message to said recipient. Now if you took that same kind of recording idea, and instead of sending it directly to a phone number, uploaded it to a main server and people subscribed to that specific “group” (or what have you) would receive a push notification about a new message. Then everyone would be able to get important information about what’s happening, what we’re doing. And especially where to avoid clashes with police. A text element for quick messages would also be great.
What’s in it for you:
1) You’d be helping a movement that hopefully you believe in.
2) The use of this application could go far beyond just this movement. It’s sort of vocal tweeting phone to phone. Subscribe to a group and be informed. People could record a cut of a song and send it directly or just say hello to all your loved ones at once while on vacation. This is a legitimate idea that has widespread application.
3) This will quickly become one of the more downloaded apps. There were 15-20,000 people at the NYC protest last night. The protests are also sprouting up in over 10 different cities across the US. Then there will be people that just want to know what happening. An immediate wide audience to launch the application and gain publicity.
4) You will get mad props
Is there anyone out there who is willing to put in some time in helping to develop an application to help facilitate communication among protesters? This would have to be a free app at least until the protests are over. Preferably it would be both iOs and android compatible. Please let me know so we can talk through some ideas, specifics, timelines, and what not.
Also let me know if you think this is possible or not. Or if you have any other good ideas. Let’s get this moving.
ps - let's try to keep this from getting political. We do not need to argue about the protest here. If you are interested great help out, if not then just move on to the next thread. Thanks in advance.
LoL. Really? What are you end goals? What do you want changed? Who makes the rules?

I would love to talk to you about this, but this is not the right place for that discussion. Pm me if you actually have interest, I have real answers. I just know this forum was not made for this purpose so I won't do it here.
It would be very honorable for some Devs to spend a little bit of time on this. I could see this app on headlines. Would be a good way for some Dev to get exposure too.
