[cooking]simple camera driver on/off trick for cookers... - 8125, K-JAM, P4300, MDA Vario ROM Development

small hint for mem maxxing madmen:
camera driver on/off trick(i got almost 38 mb mem with my rom without cam driver):
find something like that(just rgu part related to camera and cameradriver) in \sys rgu:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\BuiltIn\Camera]
"Dll" = "OV9650.Dll"
"Prefix" = "CAM"
"Index" = dword:1
"OperatorCode" = dword:0
"CameraKeyPosition" = dword:0
"SensorType" = dword:0
"Order"=dword:3
"IClass"="{A32942B7-920C-486b-B0E6-92A702A99B35}" ; GUID for generic power-manageable devices.
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\BuiltIn\CameraDriver]
"Prefix"="CAP"
"Dll"="CameraDriver.dll"
"Order"=dword:10
"Index"=dword:1
make cab with these, then remove from kitchen rgu's,
add cab into autorun process.
cook, flash.
then, uninstalling cab and soft reset will give you more mem(2.5 - 3mb),
installing cab and SR will activate cam again.
it WONT work, if that reg is already in ROM.
(i do not know if any cab can remove reg entries, if so, simplier method(no cooking) would need 2 cabs).
cheerz.

while ur at it...
im looking for a while now for a way to turn on/off the built-in flashlight
there seems to be no answer anywhere ..
there must be a registry setting for the light itself somewhere
or at least a device node and/or driver..
or its connected to the cam module and this driver from cam can only do it..
can you perhaps shine a light on this ?

upd: i cannot help..it may be inside cam driver...so it cannot be done, as cam or below tricks.
----------------
make an experiment:
launch task manager 2.7.
go to "devices" tab.
now, find BKL1:
hold stylus on name, then click "stop"
now, check kbd(AND phone buttons)....
BUT, you will lose "turn off backlight" timings too...did not check if "turnoff device, if not used..." timing, but possible, that it is gone too.

no.. no.. no..
i mean the flashlight next to the camera on the back of the wizard
not ze backlight lol
yup these lights in the buttons are annoying too
i looked in the registry and everywhere on the internet but cant find to
much of info about this.
there is a prog called VJCandela but it doesnt work on the wizard :/
i mailed the author and send him PM and more but he doesnt answer
and as far as i know there is no program that can turn on the light of the
camera..
it must have a hardware adress or a registrysetting or something like that
maybe its mapped through the camera device on the wizard , i donno
but i really need to know as i use the flashlight very often and hate it
to start the cam app and press this lightning-bolt everytime..
i just want it mapped to a button

yeah, i took it wrong lol..
i think it is driver function, so..it may be hard to override it..
i will give you a word, if i find anything.

lol
cheers mate
now all we have to do is strip the camera app untill there is only this lightning bolt switch left ^^

Just want to double check...
Looking in your !driverkamery.cab, there's also an "IClass" key in [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\BuiltIn\CameraDriver]. Or more specifically, "IClass"="{CB998A05-122C-4166-846A-933E4D7E3C86}"
Do I remove this too?
Should I also remove the [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\DirectX\DirectShow\Capture] settings? Namely:
"Prefix"="PIN"
"Dll"="CameraDriver.dll"
"Order"=dword:00000011
"Index"=dword:00000001
"IClass"="{C9D092D6-827A-45E2-8144-DE1982BFC3A8}"

it is not important, you may remove or leave it..imo.
btw, i made some experiments, and i see, that same method may be used to on/off trick for ircomm and error reporting devices.
(more free mem, no side effects).

Please give more details and cabs to reinstall them.
Thanks

ok, i will post cabs and reg to remove(before you will install on/off cabs) ircomm, serialirda, error reporting.
link: soon.

Nothin,
Really interesting trick!
With all respect I have for ya, I made the cabs. I haven't tested yet...I'm doing right away..but I guess it will work just fine. The cabs only contains those reg keys as you pointed out above.
Rgs

OK...
I tested these 2 cabs I have posted and both are working fine at least on my Wizard! I got 30.21Mb free after have done the Nothins' trick! Really nice! See Attachment.
But as he said, you need reinstall both cabs to have you CAM working back properly! That's the bad side. That will be cool if it would be possible to have the CAM function without having to uninstall and install those cabs!
Anyway, that's the beginning....

Nothin,
I'm a bit confused...
I was actually thinking over and I still haven't had a clue regarding the ON/OFF trick. I mean, if you have to install back the cabs to have CAM working fine all the time you need it, why should we use it? But if you did this trick succesfully as you mention on Paradox 4, what else Am I missing?
I got the extra room but no camera. To use the cam, I had to install the cabs! That's not the deal!
I'm probably doing something wrong or left a step behind...Just clear deeply this process!
Thanks man.

this is simple..
you may have memory OR camera..
i think, that whole microsoft way of thinking is making OTHER way impossible.
this is so simple....
you cannot make driver/device activated without softreset.
this is NOT hotswap..
so, on system that have removed cam reg entries is a must to install cab and make SR to get it working, uninstallation removes reg entries, and system start will not have cam at all.
sorry, cannot explain it simplier.
there are NO miracles.
btw, there will be no paradox anymore, and please, do not make any comments 'bout it.

My camera stopped working!

Not seen this anywhere before but I realised yesterday the camera had stopped functioning. Went into 'Button Config' to make sure it was assigned properly and discovered '<none>' next to the button command.
Some digging later I realised the entire function has disappeared from the machine! :shock:
Anyone know how to get it to work again - preferably without losing all my data? :?:
( I like emoticons me... )

Oh my - 37 people read the request for help... but nobody was able to answer it!!
I've managed to work out that 'camera/exe' was one of the files deleted somehow... but I can't *see* how it was deleted *or* what other files I need to make it work?
Is there *really* nobody here who can help?? :shock:
if you do a search you'd see other people reporting their button assignments disappearing in a buff of logic
but i dont think people are missing the exe file in windows which manualy starts the camera
in the posts about the button asignment there are guides as to which reg keys you have to add to get it back

I did a search on 'button assignment' with various other terms such as camera and dismally failed to find anything that could help.
Also, I couldn't find the 'guides' of which you speak despite some serious digging about. Any ideas on where they might be hiding from me?
The camera still isn't working and I'm finding it a royal pain. I know it *will* work because I did a hard reset (just in case) and it worked fine until I restored my data via a backup.
I'll carry on looking for 'guides' and 'reg keys' and wait in the hope someone will be able to offer a lifeline :?
in \windows do you have an exe called camera.exe ?
if so does running it makes the camera work?
if not open your extentedrom and try running the camera cab file manualy to install the camera program

TMobile SDA (US) w/ WM6- Buttons not working!

Let me just begin by saying that you all are awesome. I am incredibly impressed you were able to get WM6 working on the Tornado. I have a TMobile SDA (USA). I used Andot's Perfect WM6 ROM to flash. I didn't have any problems other than a few spontaneous reboots after flashing the ROM. I do have a question though.
After flashing, I now cant get my T-Mobile button nor my review, play, and forward buttons(the ones that are on the same row) to work. I would like them to work with media player like they used to. I could give a rat's ass about the T-Mobile button, but it would be nice to be able to assign it or any of those other buttons to a specific function.
Is there a specific customization CAB I was supposed to install for the TMobile SDA (USA) to get those buttons working? How can I use or reassign those buttons?
Thanks in advance for your help!
Hello atarilynx,
I have your same phone, which is also identical to the sp5m.
go get phil's extras.zip from
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=1417372&postcount=4
and install the sp5m button fix cab
after that, you can to into wmp and assign the buttons to do their normal tasks.
also, after applying that fix, the t-zones button will open to an ie search page.
Many thanks...
Thanks a bunch...that works for me. You all rock!
Maybe one other question...when I imaged my phone, after it was done, it would reset about every few minutes. Sometimes I would try opening stuff, and it would seem to lock up, then reset.
Things seem to be ok now... I have not had it reset on me once after the first few hours. Did others have that experience too?
Neither of the phones that I've flashed have had that problem.
Both of them being TMob SDAs.
I have no clue why your phone was doing that, hope it got that out of it's system!
actually if you guys notice, it still doesnt work. you will try and configure the fastforward button, but when you try to hold it down, it only sees it as a press, not a hold.
true, the hold and seek feature is lost from those buttons, but you can still do that with the joystick if you must.
I personally have no problem with that as I hardly seek through songs.
something else is still tweaked though, on one of my sda's, i did the button fix then installed the tcpmp shortcuts from mobile.surrealnetworks.com/SDAapps.htm
now the buttons do not line up at all with what they are supposed to do. I think the "previous track" button becomes the play button and whatnot.
maybe phil can come up with a better sp5m fix
or, you know, someone else who actually knows what's going on.
I need to sit down some evening and really dig in and figure out what exactly these fix cabs are doing.
I think you need to find the attribute for WMplayer which is used for seeking forward or backward, then save it as Long_AP#.lnk where # is the button number

In the past, I have had poor luck with assigning a Long_AP command when there wasn't one already set for that button. Not sure if something needs to be added to the registry as well?
Otherwise, I would set long buttons for all sorts of apps :-/
Like, in Andot's rom, I love having the long home go to celetask.
Same, I tried to assign an attribute to long_ap, it did not work, why dont you copy the lnk files from AKU2 ROm ?
That is probably a good suggestion, tho, I still think there is probably more to it . . . I would try it out, but I'm moving in a couple days, and have priorities that must be attended to :-(
i think it has something to do with htcwmpplugin.dll, plus maybe sumthing to do with this registry i found it when i dumped the tmobile rom... and checked the rgu files
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\MediaPlayer\UIPlugins\{72F3E437-17E6-484E-9C96-13181D4039CB}]
"FriendlyName"="HTC Key Mapping UI Plug-in"
"Description"="HTC Key Mapping UI Plug-in"
"Capabilities"=dword:1
i havent tried most ,too lazy!!! hehehe!
as it has been explained in many posts in the past the htcwmpui plugin is for a homescreen wmp plugin and nothing to do with the buttons
oh ok sorry about that... will it have to do with keybddr.dll then?
What are you guys talking about "assigning attributes" to the long_ap#.lnk?
Are you talking about adding in a command line style switch to change the way the intended application will handle the shortcut?
actualy, i have followed these and othere forums for quite some time and i have yet to see if anyone has figured out how to get the media buttons working on roms were that feature does not come by default

Its not attribute, its parameter/arguments
Yes ! thats what we are talking about
I have created a cab file for the same. but the problem of using the htcwmpplugin is that the keys are mapped differently. the internet explorer key is mapped to the previous button and the play key becomes the previous key.. which is a problem.. that's why i want to know which keypad drivers are being used. The keypad drivers used for tornado music or imate sp5m is a little bit different.
Try using it..
http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=45775&d=1186047418]
i think i got it... i dumpeed the t-mobile rom took the keybddr.dll folder and incorporated it into andots ppe v6. i also removed the keybddr.dll had in it...
after building it...
i then i copied the sp5m zip files (those short_ap1-4 .lnks) to my windows folder, installed the cab tejasphatak gave here... then it all worked...
the keybddr.dll folder
here is the file incase you guys want it...

i copied the files, then installed the cab, but it's still as if i only installed the cab. the back/reverse buttons works as play and hte play button works as forward and etc...

Removing the system tray WM5 & WM6!!

ah ha amen!
I've searched for months for an answer to removing the system tray on WM5 & WM6
Edit your registry:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/ Software/ HTC/ Trayapplt
Export the Trayapplt string just to be safe you can merge it back if you change your mind.
Once exported delete the Trayapplt string completely and then soft reset your device.
System tray gone and the space is usable
Enjoy
You could have just removed the Init_Tray.lnk in the windows startup folder.
I afraid for most people that doesnt work as they dont even have that link file. I think the difficulty with the system tray is that different people have different circumstances. Some people can remove the int_tray link but If you search the web your'll see a lot of people desperate for a alternative method as they do not have this file on their devices.
It maybe the case that my method may not work for everybody but until someone produces a stable app to remove the system tray we'll keep searching for the best way individually to achieve this.
Sorry, didn't realize that that link didn't exist on all WM devices, but I haven't owned every device to know that. There are however programs that force the system tray such as DotFreds task manager and MyMobiler, etc, which even removing the Init_Tray.lnk doesn't fix because the icons will create their own system tray. Does your fix for it stop them from doing that? If it does, then I might just have to try your fix out for myself.
So far ive been running this setup for 2 days.
I use xcpuscaler which 110% uses a system tray icon whilst running. Ive also minimised many programs and the tray has never reappeared. Im not garenteeing this will work but I do know that its worked perfectly for me.
I hope this helps and if you export the reg as I sugested if the tray doesnt stay hidden for you for some reason then you can always merge it back
Hmm, my kaiser doesn't even have that key so I guess I'm out of luck there. I'm not sure if my wizard does or not, I'm working on cooking a new ROM for it and the ROM I have on it now is kind of messed up. I'll have to check it out when I get my new one cooked though.
fair enough, it seems to be very device related, im talking intensively to a strong programmer to try and sort out something permemantely.
Im running a XDA Orbit (Artemis).
Willl post any findings here
sorry it didnt work for you

Thanks, just joined today and i am now very happy with the fact this hack worked for me
Joined the forum chasing icons and now i think i wont be able to ever leave
Thanks again.....
No TrayApplt in my registry, unfortunately. Still can't figure out how to remove the tray bar on my Vario II (WM5) permanently. Whatever I tried, nothing worked to my satisfaction..
Edit: No Init_Tray.lnk either! Still looking for solutions, every solution is very welcome as long as it works...

My Tilt doesn't have that key either. I don't use the tray, have it disabled, but Task Manager always creates it again, until I exit Task Manager.
My Wizard doesn't have that key either.
Programs I have found so far that may cause the system tray to appear:
- Dotfred's Task Manager
- My Mobiler
- Pocket Informer
- SOTI's Pocket PC Controller (or similar: I don't recall its name)
- SPB Pocket Plus
All of these can be made to not create a system tray through their respective settings or otherwise, I believe. Currently I have MyMobiler, Dotfred's, Pocket Informer and Pocket Plus installed, and I have no system tray on my Kaiser. The above registry hack didn't work for me.

[10/13/09][D3D]Unholy's 6.5 Stock Gaming Rom 23064[Stopped\Moved to another Device]

ROM DEVELOPMENT CLOSED/ I NO LONGER COOK FOR THE HTC KAISER/ TREAD DEAD
So here it is guys, after much brain storming as to rather to release or not my Rom i finally decided to do so. Bare in mind this Rom i never though of releasing as its my own personal Rom with my Own taste, that being said this is somewhat rough and very unprofessional and most stuff is in the start menu. The Rom is called Unholly because that's the name i use on forums now a days, siulmagic is a very old one that unfortunately i cant change here
The Reason i released the Rom is that i never got the D3D drivers to work with any Rom(no offense to other Cookers), so i Decided to cook my own
PS; i can recook rom with 101 RAM and upload if enough request are made, but its mostly unstable, do to it not having the MEMFIX
now to the good Stuff
BTW if you want more Free memory you can disable manila 2d it gives you like 49-50mb free of memory, and if you want little bit more delete poutlook.ink and sddaemon.ink from startup folder in windows folder( that kind of rimes)
What's included:
Task Manager
[WM6.5] HTC 2DManila 2.0.19191432.04.WAlien.cab
At0mAng Enhanced D3D Driver
HTC-CA-Kaiser-Drivers
SJ SamsungOmnia_Driver_D3D
DragonWorld TopBar Icons Rev3
Youtube app
Games that work 100% out of the box
Call of Duty 2
Quake 3 CE
Xtract
Whats Removed:
Alot of stuff that i cant remember right now, remember this a stock like rom(if you cant find something then that means it's been removed sry)
Bugs: Download Camera Fix Below
Camera is almost useless you can take a shot but it wont save the photo, it seems the oemdrives i use to make D3D Drivers work render camera useless, so yea i cant fix that way beyond my knowledge,if i ever find a fix or if any of you do, pm me and il update the rom
Also the task bar thats supposed to come up when you touch the upper right corner is bugged(its a build related bug i cannot fix that)so yea you have to access the com manager from start menu, also because of that there no way that i know of to tweak the volume so im gona link a very simple app to do so
Thanks to:
Da_G for providing us with every rom
OndraSter for hes amazing kitchen with out it this rom would not have been posible
drkfngthdragnlrd for letting me use hes top bar icons
jjblaster3 for telling me how to make the D3D drivers work on WM6.5
and who ever i forgot to mention XD

im shure he does but game's dont run accelerated as he probly uses the MEMFIX, witch render D3D driver useless
interesting!!!
nice to see someone addressing the latent potential for gaming in the kaiser!!!
i'd try out the ROM for myself but don't have the time currently...
i'm curious to know, what kind of framerate do you get in q3 on this ROM ? i'm a HUGE quake 3 fan (and an excellent 1-on-1 player and ctf flag snatcher too ), notice my custom q3a theme/lock screen in my signature below
anyway, i hope you can iron out the kinks in the ROM so that it can be made good for regular use also...and do let me know some fps numbers for q3 on the ROM!
cheers!
app.dat in all EXT folders, initflashfiles.dat in OEM\OEM_Lang_0409 and if you have Camera in OEM instead of EXT, search in OEM\<camera folder name>\initflashfiles.txt
I was looking for a rom just like this. Siulmagic, if you can fix those minor problems, I'd switch to this rom.
Too many roms come with 101 ram hack, that makes 3D acceleration useless.
Great release bro ehehehe, im guilty of charge , i created an awsome chef LOL.
hey guys sorry for not replying sooner aion has got me playing like a friken crack head XD,about the rom il try to fix some of the bugs in it, but i cant promise anything il try and start fixing them tomorrow thats if im not still playing aion, goh what a time for me to start playing an mmorpg
btw: im glad i got some ppl interested in it heh never expected that
D3D drivers wont work good cooked in, if you have memory hack. But if you install it after, then it should work just fine. At least thats what Anryl used to say!
I tried to install drivers after I flash a 101MB ROM, and it doesn't work at all. The only WM6.5 rom that would work is T.i.R. v16 K, but it's using a relatively old WM6.5.
I've tried to run GLbenchmark, and it won't work unless you don't have 101MB. To even complete the benchmark, you need to replace the DLL "ahi2dati.dll" with a renamed copy of "ahi2dati_dm.dll".
Also worth to note that by installing 3D drivers, you can't run Opera Mobile 9.7. Though, I don't see this as a problem right now, since Skyfire is much better anyway.

thats what i used to belive, but then i said meh what the heck il cook em in and see how it goes, and you guessed it they work exacly as i would have installed them manually.
btw about the rom still ironing out the bugs, i just cant seem to know how to fix the damn camera button not launching the camera like its supposed too

i think i managed to fix the double com manager icon(need to flash rom to verify)
about the camera startup bug, i search in my \OEM\OEM_Lang_0409 directory and theres no initflashfiles.dat file there so i dunno whats wrong, tho what i would really like to fix is the camera button to launch the camera instead of the album(or i think it does , because it dosent even open it just says it in the task bar, it likes opens for a few seconds then closes)

There has to be an initflashfile, do you have show hidden files and stuff in the pc? If you dont, then you wont see initflashfiles.
Also run camera.exe from windows folder and see if camera opens. If it does, then then you camera.lnk file got messed up.

Hey siulmagic, any progress on your rom?
sorry about the late reply but just today i took a break from aion, so i decided to tackel some of the bugs from my rom and i managed to fix the camera button bug, the only bug that remains is the one were it takes like a minute to save photos you take with camera(i have no idea y that happens) so yea as soons as i figure how to fix it or if anyone know's how to fix it do tell, untill then i cant release the rom, but stay tunned for future releases =)
ok guys the next rom release is coming nicely iv ported xip 23060 so now the rom is up to date, but still the camera bug is there until i can fix that no release sry, so stay tuned guys wish me luck

I'm curious

My bad in advance if this question is off topic.
Lets you say you flashed the stock rom [why i don't know] or one of the roms hanging around here. The RUU goes to 100%, you set the screen, the time, you get a peek at the home screen (lookin pretty plain there) only to be told to wait 3 seconds. A couple things run get a little progress indicator and the thing reboots.
Now your home screen is looking different. Couple plugins enabled, others disabled. Been scouring XDA regarding this and only found scant references here or there about setting your thing up to install cabs off an SD card. I'm looking for something more in the neighborhood of having different plugins enabled, possibly settings too.
Anywho if you know of where I can get some reading in about this type of stuff, lemme know.
It's the built-in autorun. There are also many different third party alternatives. A few are in SuperJustKitchen v0.7.
Besides that, I'm trying to decide if this is offtopic or not... Technically it has to do with cooking....

hehe i'm walking a fine there...
I was wondering who were those guys and what are they doing in my kitchen? Autorun, check autorun, and run cc From what I gathered about those programs is that runcc is like autorun but newer. My guess in using them is setting up some sort of txt file and pointing runcc or autorun to it.
If so what can I put in that txt file, coz I know i can't write something like "uh... dood, I don't want titanium enabled, I want this one enabled with this setting and that setting ticked... and while you're at it can you fiddle with that one over there, and lets throw some cabs on there shall we? they're over here..... you're not done yet, now I want you to monkey with the settings like so... alright now get the hell out of my office!"
If I could I would...
Whatever information you can point me over to would be cool.
Thanks

RunCC is meant as a replacement for Autorun. Autorun just requires a text file while RunCC requires a Lua that points to a text file.
There are a few walkthroughs but nothing concrete on how to create a good autorun file.
Some of the commands are:
The lock screen command (I forget what it is)
EXEC: (Execute the following)
CAB: (Install the following cab)
CPY1: (Copy from this)
CPY2: (Paste to this)
RST: (reset the phone)
In the older Autoruns, to set a theme you'd use:
EXE: along with a program that set the theme
In the newer Autoruns, you can just set it with:
TSK: \Windows\theme.tsk
Unfortunately, neither works with WM6.5.1 so you have to set the theme with an EXT with many files and registry keys.
There are a few other autorun apps that people in xda have made that can do more, like be able to run your own custom config from your SD card if you want every ROM to have certain things automatically configured (as long as all the ROMs support the particular auto-configuration utility you have configured for.)
To tell you the truth, I never bothered much with Autorun unless I had to replace a file that needed to be one version for the rom to load the first time and another after the first time set up was done. Realistically, you can do almost everything with a simple EXT package.

I was thinking the very same thing. Something's telling me that I need to try out that "Create Ext" button. Maybe throw whatever reg keys I want played with in that file? That would be more simpler than creating an auto run thingie. Hmmm... if that is the case I guess I would to just need to know how to tinker with my home screen and settings from the registry.

The easiest way to learn is to take a CAB that does something you like and converting into a EXT and looking at the registry settings it creates.

That definitely helps, as well as using a reg editor to find out what has been done after installing a program then exporting the key to throw in the app.reg file. The real fun part was tracking down basic settings for things like button settings, today items (and their settings), and default theme (boy was that a blast!) Thanks again for clearing up the confusion
