Anyone else had problems syncing music? - General Topics

I have this weird problem with synced music if they are taken from WMP11 library and synced through my device to my storage card. But it doesn't happen if i move them from Explorer or sync them directly to the card.
The result after syncing music through my phone to the storage card is a song that contains a bit of another song in it or a lag, which is really weird because the byte size is still the same as the original.

Well,I think you cannot install and play wmp11 songs on your phone. The wmp11 songs or wma and audio/video have a different wave length, format and codecs(avi,wma,wmv,wav,mpeg,mp3,rma,quicktime..etc,etc) then the Audio/video files for phones. The audio/video files for phones are cabfiles and 3gp or .ogg format and codecs.Likewise phone audio/video files can not also be played with windows media player untill it has the right codecs installe e.g 3gp codecs.
Try to find the correct cabfile(3gp,.ogg codec format) of the song you are looking to play in your phone or download the audio/video 3gp converter and convert the desired song.
Cheers

But the thing is that they are in mp3 and they play well if i don't sync them through wmp11. My situation is not really as you thought. And btw i'm using the HTC hermes

HTC Audio Manager 2.0 crashes after about 30 seconds of a song

No matter what song I play from my MicroSD card, the whole Audio Manager just shuts down after about 30 seconds or so of playback. If I use the Music tab in my Manilla2d, the playback just crashes. I don't know why and I can't find a solution when using the search tool.
What's weird is that the songs all work fine in Windows Media Player.
Any help is appreciated.
What Pocket PC model are you using?
Sorry, I forgot the simplest of information.
I'm using an unbranded HTC Touch Cruise (Polaris), the official WM6.1 ROM and I installed Manilla2D on it.
Are you sure you have the latest builds of manila and audio manager?

can you post a screen shot cause i have only seen upto ver 1.2
I have the Audio Manager that comes with the build of Manilla2d I downloaded. I think I got it from freewareforpocketpc. I downloaded the exactly same thing for my HTC Touch Dual a few months ago and it worked fine. It also worked fine when I only had one song on my phone and that was in My Documents on the device itself.
Attached is the .cab and a screenshot of it.
Can anyone help me with this? It's really annoying. I have to settle for WMP to listen to my music and I don't really want to.
I had a similar problem - Audio Manager was using 99% CPU when it was trying to play 2 MP3 files in particular. Using WMP on my PC, I looked in the Advanced Tag Editor and under "Comments" there was some info which was not in other MP3 files. I removed this info, re-downloaded the MP3s to my phone and it started working.

Did you find a solution to the problem? I increased my music collection from +2gb to +6gb and now experience this same problem. I even re-encoded the MP3s to WMA, lowed all files to 128kbps, no folders, or album art, but same problem. The 2gb collection was resample to 96kbps to save on space. I haven’t tried that yet on the larger collection.
HTC Audio Manager ver 2.0 (build 1819.3326)
Edit:Solved - Well, for me. If any of the folder have files names FOLDER(2)(3).JPG etc, remove. It’s fine to leave FOLDER.JPG & FOLDER1.JPG.

Thanks for that. I will try this after I update to AM 2.0 again. I'm currently using 1.0.

Where this folders and folder's names usually are?
Ok I now can tell you that by using a program called Bulk Rename utility I renamed all of my mp3s and anything else in the directories that had any ( ) or { } in them. This seemed to work as for the first time I was able to listen to at least 5 songs in a row... Will test further but I believe this will fix it for good.... Thanks again to Silverexp!

Help me fix pocket player. or suggest alternative player

Ok, so i really would love to fix few problems in pocket player, namely, there are a few of my songs just not playing for some reasons, they are mp3 just like all the others ripped from their discs just like the rest but just wont work, any suggestions?
also, the library seem to have a problem in common with WMP, at least for where i get songs ending up in unkown albums or artist (in wmp i also get multiple albums with the exact same name under the same artis when they really should be one album)even though they are put in the correct album/artist in my computers wmp library.
Please any suggestions what might be wrong? I have put the music on the card several times both by the phones link cable or the memory card plugged directly in to the computer.
Also feel free to suggest any good free media players, mortplayer is good, but i cant seem to find a way to get it to work in landscape mode so... otherwise its great with its changer mode and all...

TCPMP is another option, but will be good to know which ones you already tested so we can help you better
Ive tried,
WMP
MortPlayer
Pocket Player
S2P
this far pocket player is my favourite axept for the stated problems (and it could really use a change mode, switching album when the current ends), though mort is perfectly fine, except for the lack of landscape mode
(as for those few songs that wont play in pocket player, they play in the other players ive tried)

Sounds like your problem is with the files, not the players.

ok ill try those out, but if its the files that are fault isnt it strange that pocket player is the only player of both mobile and pc ones that wont play it? the others from the same discs play without problems
Can Pocket Player play AAC files?
I'm sure before I did a hard reset on my Xperia I had it playing those files. Maybe I am wrong, but it seemed to play everything from my iTunes library but the protected files, and now it plays only mp3 not m4a.

Yes it will play AAC files.
As far as not seeing or playing the other files, it could be the encoding/ripping that was done. What program did you use and how did you tag the MP3's? That will have a great impact on the result of Pocketplayer seeing and playing the files.
I personally love Pocket Player and will use nothing less. There are a lot of great apps out there, but PP has everything in it including the kitchen sink.
If you would like to try and re-rip some of your CD's I recommend you use EAC (Exact Audio Copy) with the lame format. You can google EAC and lame's latest download. Then google EAC setup and you will find a few great reads on how to set it up perfectly for what you want, even AAC if you desire.
Just my two cents.
I've had problems with songs not showing in the library or being shown in another album or artist. This was due to missing correct data in the AlbumArtist tag of the files (songs). I just updated these tags for all my songs and the library now displays them correctly. Also, some other files, like small wavs will not be included in the library if you have checked the HIDE SMALL FILES... option.

My Pocket Player did used to play my m4a files, but since I did a hard reset and have installed the latest version of Pocket Player when I load up an album that is in m4a file format, it wont play. It shows them, but wont play them, exactly as if they were protected files bought from the iTunes Store, which in the case they are not.
I've tried going back to the old version of Pocket Player, but the same problem now happens there.
I've used Missing Sync for Windows Mobile on my Mac to put the files across, and they work fine on Core Player.
It's bad enough that my Xperia wont play protected aac/m4a files without all now not playing... eek...

Transferring Music to TP

Is there ANY other program you can use to sync songs to a TP besides WMP? I've been using WMP, but it keeps on making random duplicates of all my songs, and it's REALLY annoying.
I would greatly appreciate any advice.
Oh and I don't want to just drag+drop, I would like some sort of program.
Thanks.
i agree i moved from a iphone and i got to say its annoying, the way windows mobile phones organize music, and when i use windows media player mobile to update my library it seaches the entire device and grabs even system sounds.
Hmm, I just put my microsd card into my computer and dump all the music I want to listen to (mp3, flak, ogg, what ever) into the music folder to play with the built in player / core player.

Well at least with WMP I can see my music in a "library" setup, as opposed to just opening my music folder which has thousands upon thousands of subfolders. It's just much easier for me (at least the way my music folder is setup) to use a program such as WMP.... but WMP sucks. That is why I am asking for an alternative to WMP.

Thats exactly what I do and it works like a charm. It is easier than using a program in my opinion. Are you doing something wrong? is it giving you trouble moving the files to the microSD card?
When I start Winamp and have my phone plugged in, it detects it and asks if I want to use it to manage my music on the phone. Winamp has a great name out there, maybe it oculd be useful.
I also used Yahoo Music Engine at once point and that worked great, like itunes. I think that whole deal is still around too, albeit Yahoo music has changed a bit, the app was called Yahoo Music Engine.
I have not tried sync with WM11. There must be a simple option or something you are missing. Perhaps it has to do with Media Player on WM6 and the library function. If you scan the device and organize the library to ignore your Windows folder then it probably won't be a problem on the WM11 side.
Does that make any sense?
WM11 is simple drag and drop; the problem is that when it loads music onto your Phone/SD card it puts it into the file structure Artist/Album/Track based off id3 tags. So if your music is improperly tagged or if you have more than one copy of a song like an album and a compilation album you'll end up with duplicates.
Personally I just wipe out the Music folder on my SD card every 2 weeks or so and dump a new playlist onto it. You can use the WMP sort function in the playlist to eliminate any duplicates before you copy them over. You can still add to the card later and it won't reinstall the same file so long as it's not a duplicate on your desktop like I mentioned above.
As for getting rid of ringtones showing up in your library on your phone I use Pocket Player for my MP3 player and it has an "Exclude Directory" option on it so it will only update from the SD card music folder.
Did Wm4 or CE or whatever handle music?
So that whole development time while WM5 was on market and ipod appeared, was MS just sitting there saying, "Well these are business devices let's focus on getting four Excel cells to show up on this ****tay 320x240 screen instead"
Great.
And the even funier part is the new Blackberry virtualization occurring over WM6. If they were so good at business apps then why is this occurring, HELP ME UNDERSTAND hahahhaha
This was all tongue in cheek utterance from a bewildered fan of MS and their spastic roll outs!!!!!

music hesitation

I listen to my music quite often on my htc touch hd and one thing that annoys me slightly is that i get hesitations every now and again, through out the songs.i use core player and nitrogen which are great players that i want to use,but i have noticed if i use windows media player i don't get any hesitations..
is there a solution to stop these hesitations or am i gonna have to use windows media?
i have searched the forums and found"Raph Audio Hotfix"so i will try this, hopefully this is the solution?
it doesn't work,still hesitations
anyone have a solution?
Is your music stored on your SD card? You might try copying your files off it, Quick Format and copy them back.
How many songs do you have in each folder? Reducing the amount could help if there are too many.
Are all of your songs tagged correctly? How is your album art managed? All or none of these things could be rellevant.

Samsung Galaxy SIII UK problem with music files !!!

Hi Guys,
I have had my new Galaxy SIII for just under 2 months now and i love it, its great.
I use all the features and its so quick and very well responsive.
I have one small problem though I have many music files saved on an external hard drive so i have chosen quite a few and saved them on my laptop.
I also have latest version of samsung kies which is what i have been using to transfer my music files on to my SIII and onto the sd class10 32gig sd micro memory card.
Many of the music files have no jpeg file of artist for when i play back on my SIII so I have G**gled for actual music jpeg file saved in folder with same name as music track and saved on laptop transfer through kies onto SIII while trasferring i check on Kies and proper music files jpeg is there but when i go to play once sycronised on S3 many track have same Music files Jpeg photo and not one that it should have ???
Has anyone else with this phone had same problem, if so please help with some useful and helpful advise ??
I await your replies
Many Thanks

A couple questions:
Are you using the stock Music Player app?
Do these audio files have internal tags, perhaps? Some might have embedded ID3 tags (if MP3s, for example) with included album art that might override .jpg files. Or, the stock Music Player app might not look for separate album art files.
An option to consider is using an app such a Poweramp Music Player from the Play store, which has specific Album Art configuration options in its Settings.

Hi,
Thanks for quick reply
answers to your questions are
yes i am using stock music player app
not sure what you mean about internal tags , the mp3`s do not have included art i have had to find correct art and save it with music mp3 file.
is Poweramp free and can i still use samsung kies to transfer music ?

The stock Music Player app can pick up art and other tag values that are embedded within the MP3 files, these tags are in an IP3 format at some version level. It finds my album art within the IP3 tag for each MP3 fine, but I don't see anything in the User Manual that says it will pick up .jpg files when no embedded album art is found.
Poweramp trial is free but times out after 15 days and requires a $4.99 purchase - you could try the n7player Music app trial and consider its lesser $2.99 purchase after testing it out.

I have deleted all music files and have connected again to Kies and downloaded music files and have got upto 146 music files and so far so good no probs from before ?? But not sure i have found out what was or is causing this problem ?
I stumbled on a fix
I'm better with computers than phone but am getting there slowly
Id thought id post this as it seems to have fixed it for me. I'm using Linux and i used sound converter and easy-tag applications to fix this. I expect there's other programs that will do exactly the same thing.
I spent hours adding pictures to my mp3 collection and editing the tags then copying them to my phone and only a few worked. All music players i tested still refused to recognize all tags and pictures embedded. That was right up till i noticed in easy-tags that the ones that did work were on a 320 insanely high bit-rate.
As a last resort effort i converted them all with sound-converter to a bit-rate of 320 and re-sampled them at 4400 MHz. Then i reopened them in easy-tag to fix any text errors and finally copied them all to the phone with crossed fingers. Well blow me down. it worked, all mp3 music files, pictures and tags were now recognized by all music players on the galaxy s3 i9300.
Hope this helps someone.
