microSDHC 6gb working on my p3600 - P3600 Accessories

I have now a microSDHC 6gb in my p3600.
It is a Sandisk microSDHC 6gb in a microSD to miniSD adapter from Kingston.
I have about 4.5 gb data on it, many mp3's.
On this moment it works fine. Have anybody try this before?
(I have AX3L WM6 rom on my p3600)

Brilliant!
It boggles my mind why they have 6/8 gb micros, but not minis....soooo irritating. Guess I'll give your method a try since it seems to be working. Looking forward to more than 4gb on my phone!!!
Mike

Please tell me if you need any patch to do that?
I also have 3.0.8..AX3L WM6, please tel me if I need further patch or cab to enable my trinity SDHC compatible as when I was downloading the ROM I saw a SDhc cab I wasn't sure that time if I should had download & install it to make my trinity SDHC compatible. Plaese anybody guide me I'll be very thankful. I intend to buy 8gb sdhc. ???? please email me at [email protected] as I might loose track of this thread. Thanks

I have installed AX3L 3.1.1 Lite.
I didn't load a SDHC patch. I had buy a miniSDHC 4 gb and it works without a problem.
Now I have the MicroSDHC 6gb.
The 8gb MicroSDHC is comming in the next months.

Cool, thanks for the conformation that 6GB MicoSDHC’s with Micro>Mini adapters work in our WM6 Trinity.
Has anyone else tried a 6GB in a WM5 ROM by using the various patches around?
There are so many RegEdits and DLL’s floating around for SDHC support that I thought I’d try and collate them by viewing the contents of the CAB’s and doing some binary comparisons.
These are just my opinions and I welcome anyone who can correct/enlighten me.
1)
HTC_SDHCsettings.cab – 4.4KB
This one from lvsw basically adds a bunch of registry keys about BuiltIn SDHC and StorageManager but doesn’t add or modify any files.
2)
sdhc.cab – 66.4KB
This can be found all over the forum under different names. It adds two DLL’s but doesn’t add/modify the registry.
a) sdbus.dll – 47.4KB
b) sdmemory.dll – 15.4KB
3)
miniSD HC Patch v2.2.cab – 15.6KB
This one by AX3L adds the same sdmemory.dll from 2b and nothing else.
4)
SDHC drivers WM6.zip and here– 69.4KB
This has some extra fixes that have been proven to work in E-TEN’s.
a) sdhc.cab with the same two DLL’s as 2a&b.
b) Certs.cab – 4.59KB which adds a bunch of certifications (not sure what else it does).
After installing the two DLL’s to \Windows\ and the Cert’s, then you copy these two slightly different DLL’s across.
c) sdbus.dll – 47.8KB
d) sdmemory.dll – 15.8KB
I don’t have a SDHC to try this out on but will get one while in Japan next month. It would be nice if someone could try out a combination of these on WM5 to see if they work. I think a combination of 1 & 4 might do the trick
@ janegsm or anyone with AX3L 3.1.1 please check out these two sets of DLL’s and do a binary comparison with the ones installed on your ROM.
Would be nice to get some closure on this

OK, so I dumped AX3L’s 3.1.2c and did a binary comparison on the apparent DLL’s. As suspected they are different again to the previous DLL sets.
Only problem is, I don’t know what to do with the S000,S001,… files, convert them to reg entries? They mention reading the cards using block mode addressing and not byte mode addressing which is promising.
AX3L has pointed out on other threads that SDHC is controlled by many DLL’s and they are ROM specific, so I might just be talking round in circles, but if someone can do something useful with this then we might be able to get a working SDHC patch for the Trinity!
BTW janegsm, what class of MicroSDHC do you have? Class 4 appears to be most common at the moment.

im interested to know whether anyone has these running on a standard WM6 rom from HTC.
Also, are there any speed related issues with using microSD cards? there certainly are speed differences between SD and miniSD cards (mainly noticeable in my digital camera though).
Lastly, i can't seem to find any miniSDHC cards over 4gb. Is it just me, or there really isn't any out there? Why are there larger capacities for microSD and SD formats?

Simple... electronics are getting smaller thereby the need to use a smaller card i.e. less real estate for the socket. Lots of companies are shying away from the mini to migrate to the micro. Mini manufactures see this trend and don't wish to spend resources developing and tooling for the mini when a micro with adapter will do the same thing. Hope this helps

umh, no one have try micro sdhc on WM5? the fix realy work?
where i can buy only micro to mini sd adapter? i have find only kingston package with micro to mini, micro to sd and micro sd of 1GB or 2Gb not more big.

I have WM6 ROM on my p3600.
I had buy a Sandisk microSDHC 6gb class 4.
Also I buy a Kingston 2gb micro, this is a set with 2 adapters: microSD to miniSD and microSD to SD.
I use only the sandisk 6gb and the microSD to miniSD adapter.
(I sell the 2gb MicroSD)
(When the Sandisk microSDHC 8gb comms I will buy the 8gb to.)

No luck with WM5. I tried all the options above (except #3) and the best I could get was to have a 6GB micro SD recognized as a 2GB card. Any solutions that will work with WM5 would be welcome, as WM6 is not an option for me right now.

Pretty simple, with an adaptar mini sd for micro sd, same thing that u can use a mini sd as a simple sd card.

Gutted, I still haven't heard of anyone getting this to work with a WM5 Trinity
Have you tried using AX3L's DLL's (from post 6 of this thread) after installing the certs.cab?
There has been a surprising amount of success here which is exactly the same as option #4 of my post you quoted.
I still don't have a SDHC card but will probably jump straight to the 8GB, although there still seems to be issues being able to see more than 4GB of the 8GB cards even using Trinity WM6.
Now I'm even more determined to get this working on WM5.

I followed up on both of your suggestions. I tried the thread you pointed me to and I tried using AX3L's DLL's. The only thing I got out of the process was a lot of trouble overwriting the DLL's. When I succeeded, the cards were not showing up at all. Otherwise, the system only saw 1.7gb of my 6gb Micro SDHC.

Hi, I am trying to install the patch for SDHC on a HTC P3300 phone with WM6. I cant copy the dll files to the windows directory which seems to be read only but cant find a way to change that. Can someone help?

New Problems with Micro SDHC Card, help needed
Problem: I was using a SanDisk 6GB MicroSDHC Card with MiniSD-Adaptor in my Trinity (P3600):
With the Original WM5 Rom there was no chance; when I switched to Bepe's WM6 German it was recognized at once and working (still I think a bit slower than a 4GB MiniSD Card) but the older my installation of WM6 got (or perhaps the MicroSDHC Card) the problems got worse: Very slow when using something that was on the Card and finally no chance to work with the card anymore. Then I formatted the card in my PC and did a new installation of the same Bepe WM6 ROM on my P3600. Since that time there is no chance to use the card in the phone: it doesn't get recognized, did't matter what I tried. But in my much older TyTN with WM6, the card works perfectly!?!
Maybe anybody has an idea. e.g.: I wanted to format it in my Trinity or TyTN, but I can't find any option for that.
(Funny: When I put on my camera in Trinity, it asks to use Main or Card memory, I chose card an it hangs (needs softreset); memory manager says no card at same time; I put the card out and in my TyTN and open explorer and can see that the trinity has made new my documents and pictures folders on the card???)
edit: Seems to be a Trinity failure: Now I tried my older 4GB MiniSD card and 2GB MiniSD card in the Trinity and it doesn't recognize any of it; so it should be a Trinity failure?
Does anybody have a clou what I could try to do or will the device have to go to repair?
Thanks a lot for any suggestions!

I guess you mean 4Gb SD Card.
Is it SDHC?
If so, then it would be worth looking in the Universal accessories board at what people have to say, which is 'no' for the sdhc cards.
I bought a 4 Gb card but it is a non-sdhc type so that it would work.

I can't seem to find the manufacturer's website. Can you post the the spec sheet of the model you have got?

Exactly...I'm using a 4Gb transcend non-HC and it's works find ...!! I heard about problems concerning the SDHC for the universal... Maybe you should change your SD
Transcend 4GB 'SD' card getting corrupted repeatedly
I have one annoying problem,It is the third time that my Transcend 4GB SD card got corrupted without any reason ( as far as I know ).
It goes like this --I just moved one .jpg image ( clicked with my Universal ) from main memory to card -- a my document--my pictures folder, then I checked it ,the entire my document folder is empty..around 150 MB.No data recovery tool can retrieve it.
The default file explorer and Resco explore read the card differently --950 Mb and 1100 MB respectively. The data is gone, the space 150 MB is gone.On previous two occasions, there was not any transfer of any data from device to card yet it happened .I had the card replaced, but it is very annoying to live in this impending possibility of losing the data.
What is the cause of this problem?WM6?Universal?ROM?4GB?Transcend?
I never had this problem with 1 GB cards. What is the solution? Please suggest something, anything.
There are a couple of WM6 roms which can corrupt your SD card.
But it shouldn't make a difference if you have a 512 mb card or 4 gb.
Did you upgrade to WM6 and then got the 4gb card?
You could try to flash back to the original wm5 rom from your manufacturer, good change the problem's gone then.
ROM change?
No Sir,
I did have this problem with WM5 and to get rid of it I shifted to WM6,but the problem persists.Other people with WM5/6 with 'NCP' 4GB are doing fine,I am also going to try it.Like I said I never had any problems with 1GB.
I like the HTML mail support in WM6 and I need it for the attachments so I'd rather keep WM6.
One more thing, the file explorer SOMETIMES shows two separate folders viz. storage card 1 & storage card 2, and in storage card 1 there are only files called mail attachments. At the same time all the today shortcuts and programmes on the card are 'uninstalled',Then I have to hard reset and install the back-up file and everything comes to normal. What does it mean? Please clarify.

This is a known issue. Sometimes the system forgets about the exixstence of SD card. You can brows here for such cases. People claim that it happens while the battery goes low or for some other reason.
However, if this happens, and some of your apps are set up for using Storage Card for saving it's data, then the system creates a folder named "Storage Card" in the main memory. Then if you softreset or recharge your device, the system finds again your SD card and tries to give it a name "Storadge Card", but this already exists, so it names it as "Storadge Card1", and so on.
Solution:
Ither delete the "Storage Card" folder from main memory or rename it as you wish, and then rename your card as "Storage Card" and softreset your device. It should help.
okay

Okay,
Thanks for explaining and the simple solution.
But a soft reset doesn't solve it,reinstalling the backup(I use SPB)does.
But what about the card getting corrupted, losing data and vanishing folders? Is there any cause and solution for it? Or should I go for another card manufacturer as decided?

SDHC start at 2gb, you have a normal SD.
Native universal SD driver does not support SDHC, the driver ignores CMD8 that is required for SDHC to work. I've purchased 8Gb card and can tell that after patching - Uni started to recognize it. But testing is required before publishing a patch.

Does this patch involve physically deforming the SD Card such that its lifetime warranty (lifetime warranty is applicable to some SD cards only) becomes void?

Toshiba 4GB Mini-SD HC Memory card - Did anyone test this on Wizard?

http://www.geeks.com/details.asp?invtid=SD-S04GR4W&AID=10440852&CJPID=1260291
Has anyone tried this on a Wizard with WM6 installed? I know that there were some issues with HC card on Wizard.
SDHC cards aren't compatible with the wizard yet, even in WM6. To make sure I even checked my registery settings for the settings that would need to be there for them to work and they weren't there.
you may want to try "ordinary" 4GB miniSD cards:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=297324
There are more threads about that topic in the accessories section of the Wizard
Thanks..Xeno & Huckelberry88, I will try the standard Mini SD card. The only reason I was interested in Toshiba is because of the brand name. I hate ordering and trying a no name brand.

running App on SD closes down when power on

Does anyone know how to get around this problem.
I have apps installed on the SD and when the Uni is switched ON, the app will close.
Tomal states that "It is because of the PM for SD. Also, latest kernel's are very "efficient"" and has suggested disabling Power Management for SD. This didn't fix it for me.
Has anyone any suggestions or fixes? Or perhaps this doesn't effect all SD cards (mine's a class 6 8GB)
(NB. I started a new thread as this is not a problem with Tomal's ROM, but seems to be a WM6.x 'feature').

Hi jon,
I've just tested it in 3 different SD cards.
Result is interesting: running application do not get closed for 2 of them but it is the same of you for another card!
Affected one is a 4GB SD, it is a non-branded card.
Hope this information helps.
Ah now this is interesting. I usually use SD Settings Type I for my card (I get better benchmark results). But in switching to Type II I now don't have the aformentioned problem.
Code:
measurements in ms Type-I Type-II
Write 1MB file 2370 6226
Read 1MB file 998 1502
Copy 1MB file to card 1156 5926
Copy 1MB file from card 2045 2773
Write 10k x100 files 6772 10490
Read 10k x100 files 1179 1579
Copy 10k x100 files to card 5778 10610
Copy 10k x100 files from card 4528 8913
Directory list of 2000 files 209 203
(using spb benchmark 1.6.0)
However, I really don't want this fix to be the only solution, as you can see the card runs a lot slower with Type-II settings
Anyone can test this out on their card... what is your card? Mine is veho 8GB class 6. [nb, ask me if you are interested in spb benchmark to test]

Advice on upgrading XDA2

I would like to now the following:
What is the max SD Card capacity that a XDA2 can use
Is there a SD Wifi Card that also has memory (as I'd like to be wireless, and still have the SD Card memory - as I install apps to the SD Card)
What is the XDA backpack and is it still available (a friend suggested i would need this to have SD Card Memory and Wireless - although he could tell me much more than that).
Also is it possible to replace the backup battery as everythime i swap batteries (have 2 batteries I use when out/away) I have re-enter clock/calendar data.
My XDA2 is running WM6.1
Thanks
unless the later 6.5roms change that the largests is 2gb non hcsd cards
unless later roms change that non of the wifi cards with storage works at all
unless later roms change that the last rom that worked with the backpack was 2003
No, Rudegar, you are wrong: the max. SD-capacity is 4 GB (non HC) SD cards, as I prooved with all working roms I tested, yet. (WM2k3 up to WM6.5 and I tried a lot of them!!)
Backpack is still available and some of its functions are working!
The vga-feature is working fine, after installing the driver.
Most ROM use additional battery in the backpack, but not all. You have to test yourself.
The only thing that won't work in roms, other then WM2k3(SE), is the compact flash slot, as there are no working drivers for WM5 and WM6.X (yet)!!!
The backup battery is changeable, you can use the one for the BA as they are the same. Use the search button above, you will find some links on this issue.
Yep, I have a 4GB non-SDHC card in use with my MDAII...works without problems.

Micro SD

Is the SDHC type of Micro SD card compatible with the VOX or does it have to be SD only? Some are described as 'class 2'. Is this relevant?
thx
If you are using a custom WM 6.5 ROM, then it will support, otherwise I don't think it will (with Native WM 6 / WM 6.1 ROM)
The Vox supports SDHC cards out of the box afaik. If not (I doubt it) then additional drivers should enable this.
Class 2 (or other numers like 4,6) indicate the granted write speed in MB/sec. Usually the lates cards are much faster however. The device will write much slower than this so it does not matter for use in the device. It does matter when you fill the card externally, since a Class 6 is supposedly 3 times faster than a Class 2.
For exploiting write speed on external card readers several factors have to fit together. My fast cards allow roughly 10MB/s write externally, while the slow ones go down to 2MB/s.
