Ok so I have been looking around the forums for a while now. I have noticed that there are a TON of roms being cooked for the 8125 and 8525....so why not the 8925 yet?
The only thing I can think of is that its so new, so my next big question is....When will there be multiple builders for 8925 roms? I am just trying to get an eta for some more fun....THANKS
8925 is the tilt, aka kaiser correct?
So are you joking right there are several GREAT roms out by austin, dutty, helmi etc. Gotta read young padawans. I had been a member of these boards for a good year before I started pasting, and that was just to thank the quick cooks for my lovely tilt roms.
probably referring to something cooked with att actual rom right? Something can use cv off the bat for example......
i am just saying if you look at all the other phones there are a TON of roms, while for the 8925 there are just a handful. is this just because it is so new? or it is really that much harder to make a rom for the 8925 (i think I read it was harder to create one for the 8925 somewhere)
Its a function of time. It took the chefs a while to get the broad selection of hermes roms out there. I am sure more roms, and even kitchens will be out there for us to play with soon.

All,
Just wanted to add my thanks to all the talented people who roam these forums ! I've benefited greatly from your work. Particular thanks to faria who provided me with working ROMs when I was beginning to wonder if I should just go buy another phone. Also to funman who guided me through building my own Roms when I thought that was beyond my skills.
I'm heading over to the Hermes forums now. A friend gave up on figuring his out and so he sold it to me for $200 (he didn't know about xda-developers!). I couldn't pass that up! I hope the guys over there are as nice !
Best wishes to you all!

Lucky Dog!! Bring back the ggod stuff you find over there!
You're in good company over there...
A few of us are in the Hermes FORUM, myself and Jose included.
Jump in, the water's fine!
See you there
Got myself a hermes today. Insurance company typo so got a vario 2 instead of 1 .
Just flashed olipro hard spl followed by pro black 3. Happy days
Helpful bunch too
Great to hear!
I've gotten off to a terrific start thanks to the Hermes forums. Installed Custel 2.5 WM6 and I'm back to almost the same setup that I had on my Wizard. I was very happy to find most everything transfered over (PocketBreeze, iLauncher, PocketWeather, phonealarm, rlToday, IM+, muns keyboard skin, and the JPL big button phone dialer !! About the only thing missing is BatteryStatus. The FAQ says there's no overclocking software for the Hermes?
And the speed using 3G! WOW!!! Absolutely worth it !!
To everyone that has a hermes,
There are already offical WM6 versions out.. maybe you should test some first before you brick your phone... i dont mean to sound the way it does but i'm still hoping t-mobile or at&t are gonna release an offical Wm6 for my MDA.. so i do haev to say good luck to everyone with there new hermes

I did. The first thing I did upon receiving the phone was load the official Cingular WM6 rom on it. Given that there was a WM6 for the hermes, I thought that maybe I'd just stick with that version.
However, I ran into some small annoyances (activesync problems) and it was missing some software apps that I gotten used to having (Task Manager as an example), so that's when I decided to try one of the "unofficial" roms. I did my homework and read through the load process and basically followed the instructions. Custel focuses on making Cingular compatible roms, so it was a good fit for my needs.
I guess I was very cautious about installing custom roms when I first got my wizard (prior to my hermes). But after all the annoyances with it (daily soft-resets, monthly hard-resets, ongoing network problems, etc., etc.), if I hadn't installed one, I would have given up on the phone. Another example of that: I got my hermes because a friend got fed up with it and got a Treo instead. From installing custom roms, I got into customizing them myself using faria's kitchen apps.
It's not for everyone and I understand that, but I've greatly benefited from the efforts of the guys who work so hard to build these custom roms !
Good day:
I recently purchased a Cingular 8125 on eBay... It should be coming in the mail today hopefully. I have been reading up on these upgrade ROMs, and I understand I have a few different options.
I am looking to possibly upgrade this phone to WM6.
I understand there are plenty of general FAQ's on these ROMs, but I am looking for some personal experiences on this particular phone. What ROMs have people used, what would you recommend for this phone? Any do's and don'ts? Any comments would be appreciated.
Thanks!
Welcome to the group...
Other than physical appearance, all Wizards are the same.
Whether it be a 9100, MDA, 8125... Once flashed with the same ROM, usability will be the same.
In the meanwhile, take some time to read at least the stickies in the Wizard subforum and once you get your phone, determine whether it's a G3 or G4.
Cool thanks for the info man. Yeah I have been reading through the stickies, I saw the guide there that you are talking about. There is some pretty good stuff up there. Just was lookin for some personal experiences and such.
Thanks!
Edit: Just noticed you got the 8125. How does your's work with all that stuff on there? Any bugs or anything? Any general downsides from using that or just using the factory WM5?
I'm actually experimenting with a different rom now... I normally change my sig only when I'm sufficiently satisfied with the current configuration.
BatteryStatus and Oxios Memory are highly recommended and doesn't interfere with the functionality of any ROM. Voice Command is just preference although some people argue that Speed Dialer is better.
all i can say is dont think that your an expert after you've flash a few roms. believe me when i say you'll get careless and **** somethin up. i stupidly tried to flash ipl/spl rom on my G4 8125 and bricked it. i got it replaced by AT&T but damn if that feeling didnt suck. just be careful, pay attention and have fun. b4 you know it you'll be addicted. just like everyone else
im a cingular 8125 user as well, however im using the T-mobile service on it. What i can say about roms is that, you have to thank some of the people on here that make the kitchens and the roms. They spend time figuring out and fixing bugs that we all have. The best bet is to keep trying a rom, until "it fits your needs" and is stable. The things i look for is
#1 Stability - (no errors, bugs)
#2 performance - (speed, boot-time.. etc)
#3 battery consumption
Hi Reader,
As a request, Id like to ask for a favour in helping me get a new phone.
Been using a HP IPAQ rw6828 for a yr now, and quite frankly didnt disliked it much.Need to change to a WM6.. have had a enough of all the Nokias.
Used the Black N95 for abt a day and got rid of it.
Kaiser TYTN II/ Blackberry Curve or anyone you guys could suggest.
Apologies if this is the wrong forum but didnt found any other forum best suited for this.
Cheerz
I suggest the Tilt....
Thx
Hi Bruv!
1st up thx for the reply!!...I kinda like the black one too... I guess tilt and Tytn II are same... js the weight thing kinda puit me off....
i noe this is XDA PDA forum, but Blackberries are outta liking??
Anyhow... I see you guys breaking a lotta code n making new ROMS... id suppose HTC TYTNII can be tested for a lot of ROMS and softwares.. can it?
tytnII and tilt are identical except for the difference that the tytnII has the front camera while att has cleverly removed that from the tilt.
As far as upgrades go there are a ton of options available here. All depends on what you want and which route you want to go on. Before doing any upgrades though i highly recommend that your read the kaiser wiki.
If you are going to be flashing new roms than don't forget to flash hardspl first to your device; again this is all explained in kaiser wiki so please do read it if you plan on going that far with device.
As far as suggestion i definitely recommend the tilt. It is a great phone/pda/micro laptop and has the capabilities to do alot of wonderful things.
enjoy,
peace
sire
Cheerz bro!...
Will go on wid TyTN II
XDA fo sure roks!
Are Kaiser ROMs compatible with the AT&T Tilt? Just got this phone less then a year ago, and i have decided to "pimp" it. Lots of good looking ROMs i have seen on the internet, but they all say they are for Kaiser. Can use these, or should i get one thats made for the tilt specially?
Start reading here please.

And Dont Be Starting New Threads
There are plenty of resources for new users trying to get started, no need to start new threads. Thread closed.
Ok, so since there are now dozens of new kitchens floating around w/ every new OS release/port...is the Wiki really current? I'm thinking of trying out cooking a WM6.5 ROM using either Josh's or Medkid's Kitchens but I think they include a few things the Wiki doesn't cover. I could be wrong so don't flame me if I am.
Anyways, it'd be nice to add the 6.5 info to the Wiki. I'd gladly do it myself BUT I'm obviously not up to speed enough to feel competent enough to do it (redundant much? lol)
But yeah, would be appreciated =]
Thanks!
I'll second that. I've been testing out 6.5 roms now for about a week and they're all wonderful, especially Josh's. So an update on Wiki for 6.5 roms would be nice.
It's a wiki, edit it yourself
