Hi to all !
Well, i'm absolutly uninterested in knowing my phone have found GSM service considering I'm never in uncovered GSm areas. BUT i'm absolutly interested in sleeping in a dark non-blinking room, or driving a non-blinking car by night.
I've been searching for hours a registry hack to kill service LED blinking on my HTC s710 ... The tweak for WM5 can be found anywhere, but we cant find the same keys in WM6 RDB.
Does anyone know how to act on service LED activity via RDB or even software ?
Thanks to all of you people !
Nicolas
C'mon, no one knows how to disable it or is even bothered by it ?
I am very interested. I never want to see a blinking led and im also looking for a way to toggle the keyboard lights on my Titan.
Ok I found the registry value. Go HKLM\Drivers\BuiltIn\AllLedMgr then change the index from 1 to 0
At your own risk ;-)
does the led blink ever with this one or does this disable it completely?
i know there's a program called "dontforget" that'll disable the constant blinking but permits blinking for other types of notifications.
with the registry change the only time the led lights up is to let you know the battery is charging.
This does not work with the HTC S710. There is no key named AllLedMgr, even if one is created - it seems to be ignored.
DontForget seems to work intermittently on the S710 also, it will slow down the GSM LED, but once anything interacts with it - it will start right back up again.
Try this programs. Work well on my tornado.
Hello
I am trying to use jamespaulritter's method of changing the registry value and I am getting an "access denied" dialog box. Please help me turn the thing off. I am very new to this and am sure I am missing a basic procedure. Please help
Thanks

I know I'm off forum, but this works for me on my HTC Vogue w/ WM 6.1. However, it kills vibration. Will try the MoDaCo program next.

Both apps work!

I wrote a small app (based on other people's hard work) that will flash the LED when a new notification is active.
I did this because all my previous WM5 PDA's had a visible "new message" notification and I found it useful !
1. Copy the SDKCerts.cab from the Visual Studio SDK onto your device
2. Run the .cab on the device to install the SDK root certs
3. Extract the msgled.zip and copy msgled.exe to the startup folder of your Treo
Done
It *should* check every 10 seconds for new messages and flash the LED if there are any.
Enjoy.
Thanks. . coming from a Treo 650, ive missed this very useful feature via an app called Butler, i do hope that it can also be set to 'steady green or red'

Great app, works like a charm. Thanks!
Works like a charm indeed, but I am running into a small bug! I have my Treo set for powering off the screen after 1 minute, but if I have your tool active it won't. It will disable the display lights, but not actually turn the Treo off...
Thanks it works great.
Good Job !!!
ehh
works great..
only one thing.. i got a voicemail message so it left a notification and i got the blinking led (great).
But there seems no way to get rid of the voicemail notification now
So i tried to remove the msgled file form the startup folder.. doesnt let me.. hmmmm
Anyway to remove the msgled file? or stop it?

Hi,
I guess you can help me in my Problem.
I had flashed my ROM for softbank x01ht witha widows6 rom(dont remember which version).
Since then the Device lights i.e. the bluetooth light and the service ligts are not working meaning they do not blink at all.
When I connect the Charger, a RED LED flash for a fraction of second and then goes off, though the charging is done with no problem.
Can you pls tell me how can I solve this problem, I have tried to search a solutuon with all the possible combination of key words.
Pls. help me if you know any possible solution.
THANKING YOU IN ADVANCE,
Mandrix
This is great, thanks!
is there any way to turn the led orange instead of green when receiving new messages?
great app though. thx.
Treo 750 - Missed call / message notification orange LED
Zwuncki
I too am looking for an option to do this but it seems that the only option so far has been to turn the LED green for notifications (I am using Mortscript and nled). An improvement over the existing but orange would be nice.
For the Treo 650, this was nicely done by an application called "MissedCall" but from reading posts in other forums it seems that no one has figured out a way to turn on the orange LED in Treo 750 (it does this when out of range of signal in its built in default state).
Works great!!!!
cdelauz02 - what works great? I assume you are talking about Mortscript/Nled? or have you gotten the notification to turn the orange LED on somehow?

Do you think this will drain the battery? Since it checks every 10 seconds for new messages.
Great feature though! Very nicely done!
I've had this script installed for a couple of months now and can't say that I've noticed any impact on my battery life. I still get 2-3 days between charges.

Thanks for your answer. Nice to see some activity on the 750 forum.
At the moment I'm trying SPB Phone Suite. It looks like it also notifies the user by flashing the LED when you've missed a call. One "bug" is when you dismiss a missed call the indicator still shows the number of missed calls.
I might be mistaken, but if I understand what I've read over at the Phonealarm forums the 750 handels notifiers different than other pocket pc's and what you've noticed is one of the results. I believe that the counts should reset if you actually view the missed call log.
Otherwise, how do you like the SPB phone suite? I've been eyeing it, but being a regular reader of the phonealarm forums I know the amount of work that goes into such a program and am a bit weary of a first release. What's your impression?
I must say that I like the idea. It sure is a very good first release! Skinning is not my main target. Stability is
Just installed a Beta of PhoneAlarm. It worked for a few hours, now the screen looks messed up (stripes). Like the images aren't rendered correctly.
Read that the memory footprint of PhoneAlarm is smaller than SPB Phone Suite.
But we're a little of topic now Will post more info when I have it!

I was referring to the led notifications, I dont mind having the led green, but if orange was available it will be nice as well.
I need some help. Is there a way to make the green LED light blink in an other colour (red/yellow) in case of a new message has arrived or a calender reminder has been started? This has been one of the functions that worked with all other HTC devices. The LED is totally useless with this device by blinking green the whole time, only changing to yellow when loading the battery nad red when battery is empty.
I'm not sure about changing the colour, but this device actually has two led lights, I wouldn't consider it completely useless
One on the right shows the battery status:
Red - Batt Low
Orange - Charging
Green - Fully charged
The one on the left :-
blinks blue - bluetooth enabled
blinks green - Wifi is enabled
There are programs like DontForget that allow the led to flicker on reminders, mails, messages etc. Check here:-
http://magazin.softimage.cz/?page_id=26
thanks for your reply and you are right about the two LED. I was aware of this and of the relating functions. I am also aware of the "don't forget" app but this app does not change the LED on a WM6 device. I am looking for a way to bring the right LED to blink in a changed colour in the case of an event. other htc devices do so, so there must be a way to stir these LED lights. still looking and maybe soemeone has a registry hack or some ideas on this. thx

I am afraid, no. Nobody could solve the issue yet according to my knowledge.
Is there a way to disable the LED indicator? Maybe a registry editing command to accomplish this?
Nope. Sorry, but it's hardware! There are solutions, but they don't work properly!

Yeah, i too want to disable the green blinking led. It uses a sustantial portion of battery for no use, which irritates a lot. Can someone here give any Registry tweak for that??
actually its consumption is very low

I am having an absolute FIT with the damn keyboard light on my 750! It gos off after about 5 seconds, and THAT is ridiculous! I was told by a source at Palm there IS a registry entry to fix this, but he could not divulge the info (I did tell him I was open to receiving an anonymous email, but haven't seen it yet!)
Anyone have any ideas? He said it was the same one that worked on the TyTn/Hermes/8525 but I have not found it yet....
Help??
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Backlight and key is QKeyLedTimeout. The number of seconds is usually set to default at 10. you can make it any number you like. Mine is set at 20.
I wonder if this also relates to my current issue too - can anyone comment?
The backlight on my Treo 750's keyboard refuses to come on IN USE - however I'm fairly convinced it's not a hardware issue; when performing a soft reset the keypad lights up fine during the boot cycle.
It's as if there's a registry entry that sets the "turn off keypad light after" value to 0 (i.e; always off).
Thoughts?
Cheers,
Steve
Found It in WM5
I traded in my WM6 phone for a Treo 750 with WM5 - wow, everything is where it should be, and the phone works the way it should!
As far as the On-Off issue, Steve, I see that in line in my phone - the key is set to 1, so I would try changing that:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Backlight and key is QKeyOnOff change it from 0 to 1
Let me know - this could be my first crack at helping someone else out!!
I have a question. I can not seem to find the registry edit area for the Treo 750 running WM6. Can you help me in giving me some instructions on getting to this so I can edit the file to keep the keyboard lights on for longer than a few seconds?
on my kaiser it's set to 30 by default.

Hi there,
There is no default registry editor on WM devices, so you will have to install one if you want to make any changes. You will find a few built into well known commercial apps such as MemMaid and Resco Explorer (I've used both and they work fine on WM6). There may also be some free ones around.
Hi All,
Is it possible to disable the green light blinking in VOX.
Initially i thought it was for network...then later found that even blinks on offline profile also.
If it can be disabled..i can save some precious battery life..
Hi naidu001,
you can use DontForget utility.
DontForget does not work properly on the Vox for disabling the LED. Unfortunately there is no current way to disable it, even by removing the LED driver keys in the registry.
I use RadioLED, it's not that convenient cause it stays in the memory all the time, but it's the only thing that works for me.
Hm. I didn't realize there was an application that worked for this on the Vox. Do you have a link or can post the file perhaps?
EDIT: Found it. It still does not seem to disable the GSM LED for me.
EDIT AGAIN: It will disable the GSM LED while the application is running and it works to flash LED every 5 seconds when an SMS is waiting! It works! I might disassemble it and find out what it's hooking to and see if it can be done in MortScript. For now I'm using a .lnk that runs load.exe and starts RadioLED at startup.

I will look into it. Running it as a bgprocess takes up roughly 600KB of RAM. Not bad, but not so great. MortScript would chop it down to only 30-40KB.
I think it works by hooking API and interrupting the LED driver and then allowing it to pass after reading a registry key to check for any unread SMS. If there was a way to dump RAM in realtime this would be so easy.
...dont understand it but i sounds great! think u can make it work?
After looking at a short snippet code dump from RadioLED.exe, it uses standard nLED API which is not really possible with MortScript. I have attempted to use some of the nLED controlling applications made, but none of them yield any results so far. I will keep working.
EDIT: Okay, I have included RadioLED and radiodump which is a strings dump of the PE. It should include any required API calls, however, http://blog.csdn.net/hesicong/archive/2005/08/02/444156.aspx and http://www.pocketpcdn.com/articles/led.html give clear and concise .NET and C examples of controlling the LED. The ALLLEDMGR driver is not used on our S710's - so NueLED from no2chem does not work and neither do most other applications currently available.
Perhaps it's time for me to dust off the Visual Studio CD and whip some **** up for you guys.
Alright. VS2008 installed. I will be slowly working on making an application to control all of the LED's on our Vox. I am borrowing a laptop and will be working on it while I have the laptop once a week. Will update when I have working code!

I am trying to prevent my TP2 from automatically going on standby mode after calls end. Anyone know which registry entry I need to edit?
Maybe you can have a look at this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=4430725
Hope that can help....any further helps are needed.
Thanks for the reply. That is to reassign the wake-up key. I do not want it to automatically go on standby after every call. I am severely physically disabled and cannot press the hardware keys.
might be a dumb question to ask, but since I don't know of any setting/software that would make you're phone go into standby immediately following a call, are you sure that...
1) it sleeps IMMEDIATELY after the call....and
2) Tah you're device isn't simply suspending according to you power/backlight options set in Settings / System / Power / Advanced "turn off backlight" & "turn off device" settings?
I know that the backlight will fast sleep DURING a call which can also be changed but it sounds like your issue is different than this.
Post further details for addional help.

Do you have a TP2? I was told by HTC tech support that this "feature" is to save battery life and cannot be changed in the settings. I am positive it goes on standby immediately after every call. I have been through every setting on the phone and cannot find the cause. I am going to re-flash the stock ROM to see if there's a difference.
If you have a TP2...
1) What ROM are you running?
2) After a call, do not touch your phone. Do not even hit the End key. See if your phone goes on standby.
ok...yes I think the setting ur referring to is the FAST SLEEP on phone calls. Meaning the backlight goes off nearly immediately after RECEIVING a call but while ur still on the phone....right?
I am not sure the registry entry right now but there is a tweak app that should fix that for you. Not sure what that app is on a TP2 but on Kaiser/Tytan 2 it's a kaiser tweak and on my Fuze/Diamond it's the Diamond Tweak app. Maybe someone can comment as to whether the Diamond Tweak app is compatible with the TP2 or maybe google "kaiser tweak for touch pro 2". BTW it is a tweak/hack and not a system setting that you can disable that I know of. So flashing ROMs is pointless u'll still have to tweak unless it's already tweaked n the rom.
Give me a day/so I'll find that and post back
I'll look for the registry hack if someone doesnt beat me to the post.
Hope that helps......
hey try these registry hacks on ur phone to see if that prevents what ur trying to stop. To edit the registry u can install and use total commander

HKEY_Local_Machine\Drivers\BuiltIn\RIL\EnableFastD
ormantDisplayDuringCall to 0
HKCU\ControlPanel\Phone\Sleep switch value from 1 to 0

Hope that Helps!
My device does not go to sleep during calls. ONLY after calls end. I have tried 2 apps, and neither worked.
NoSleep
Power Tweaker 2
Thanks for the suggestions, let's keep trying! I'm sure we can figure this out!

Just tried these. Still no luck. Any other suggestions?
Any current "device lock" or power related programs currently installed that might have a setting controlling the status/suspend of the phone after a call is hung up? I think Slide to Unlock used to have a setting that did this, so maybe it's another app that is unknowingly causing this behavior.
I will google a bit and see what else I might be able to come up with. Thanks for the clarification on whether it is during/after a call. Sleeping immediately AFTER a call is not a normal behavior with my phone or my previous winmo phone either... so it is a bit puzzling to me.

The only app I have installed currently is Touchtris. I am using EnergyROM StandardM2.5 from Sept 12.
Your continued help is greatly appreciated.
I have somewhat found out what was causing my issue. I was using EnergyROM StandardM2.5 build Sept 12. I re-flashed my TP2 to the stock ROM, and my issue is resolved.
So the problem is either in the EnergyROM or Windows Mobile 6.5. I am going to flash another WM 6.5 ROM to see if the issue returns.
HTC tech support claims that the auto standby is an intended power saving feature, but it is not happening on the shipped ROM.
