I am trying to change "NetworkContexts"=dword:00000003 @ [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\Cellular\RIL]. After a reset this changes back to a value of 1. Can anyone shed some light on this? I have never had an issue with this key on any TYTN ROM. I have tried ATT, HTC and cooked ROMS with no luck.
Any help here is greatly appreciated.
Have you tried holding down the power button and soft resetting that way?
Yes, i have. Whats weird is that if i pull the SIM, then the change stays after a reset. That is, until i put the SIM back in. I could understand if this was always the case, but why would it work on the TYTN and not the Kaiser.

ey man, perhaps i'm asking an idiot question, but why do you need to change the NetworkContexts?
I look for "NetworkContexts" in google, but can't find ussefull information about.
Cheers.
It’s to enable multiple apns. Extremely useful for that BS called blackberry connect. This allows you to keep your blackberry apn active at all times. it’s much better then constantly having it connect and reconnect anytime you need to access the internet. It worked great on the 8525.
Enabling Multiple APN Support
There are 2 entries under [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\Cellular\Ril], NetworkContexts and Contexts. The max simultaneous apn value is set by taking the lowest of those 2 values. In this case, NetworkContexts.

No problem, hopefully this will help some TYTN users stuck using BBC.
Maybe this value is set by the provider? Is it possible the HTC network wizard is passing this value from the SIM? That is one difference from the TYTN. I had to manually set my network settings before.

Yes, i was thinking the same, perhaps this value is taken from the SIM by the Network Wizard. Try HardReset and don't use the Network Wizard, to see if you can change the value.
Other test you can do is delete the NetworkContexts, i read that if this value is not there, uses the Contexts value isntead. See here http://blogs.msdn.com/kblee/default.aspx

Agreed, i just don't understand why the TYTN worked. What is different about this os that would force such a value? Or i guess it could be some different SIM interface implentation.

it's so peculiar...
As for i know, the OS have a subsystem that reads the SIM to get info and set some values. It's possible the Hermes and the Kaiser have different versions for this subsystem.
Have you tried the elmi_c ROM? this is a cocked one with different components. Don't know if helps, but perhaps the SIM subsystem is different and allows you to change the values.

Good luck, mate...
It's not the SIM doing it, there's some kind of protection on certain registry settings that cause them to always revert back after a reset. The ShowSim setting does this also. NuShrike from MoDaCo wrote a program for me that allowed to be able to hide my sim contacts but apparently you need to know arm assembly to be able to do it. If you do, maybe you can take apart the one he wrote for me and use it for your purposes. It's on here, at least twice since I posted it once and someone else reposted it. Just serach for hide sim contacts and you should be able to find it, if not then let me know and I'll upload again.

The setting is coming from the SIM or somehow from the network. If i don't use the SIM i am able to change or delete the key all day. Also, as jcespi2005 noted, on a different carrier his has a different value. what is odd is that it doesn't become enforced on the TYTN. Was the showsim setting different for different networks or could you effect a permanent change without a sim inserted?
Btw, I called ATT and talked to their “data support specialist”. Totally clueless…
you're saying the key only changes after a reset... maybe there's an app somewhere that changes reg keys and you can launch it after every reset...

won't work, you have to reset to make the change take effect.
Possibly a strange question, but is it anything to do with the fact that most Hermes/TyTN devices were SIM and/or CID unlocked; there's no SIM unlock for the Kaiser (yet!) but it can be CID unlocked IIRC....
Also, are there "developer certs" for the Kaiser that you can install to open things up a bit more???
Maybe barking up the wrong tree with this, but I thought I'd throw it in the pot for consideration
Cheers,
Mark.

Didn't test for this. However, only Contacts reads ShowSim when it runs so it can be flipped anytime and only needed to be fixed for revert after reset by Contacts, or by some other program after reboot.
Sounds like your setting may just need to be set very early in the boot chain before the network processes read the registry. I don't know if it's possible for an auto-start program, even at position 0, to start before the system processes that read your network registry setting.

Anyone using a program to change the profile to say vibrate when you goto school and turn it back to ring when you come back home. There are programs that can automatically change the profile based on current cell phone tower locations you are in like PSILOC's minigps (symbian) and DHR CommMgrPro (win mo but only for GSM) but anyone know of something for CDMA/sprint?
Thanks.
I don't think one has been made for CDMA phones.

How do you mean?
This soft looks like spot on what I want/need and when reading about it it at least says "G-sensor support for mute improved for the HTC Pro (Raphael)" so it seems it'll work with our phones.
so, how does it not work with TF3D?
(I cannot dl and try it today)
Phone alarm works as a today plug in. TF3D does not allow any additional today plug ins.
Solution is to use the application secondtoday which allows you to have a "second" today screen, which is accessable from the TF3D screen.

Yep, that's the issue. Phonealarm is able to track CDMA cell towers, but won't change profile if TF3D is on today, as it won't allow anyother app to take that coveted spot. That second today might be the solution...

They may be on GSM networks (e.g. Tmobile) here. Sprint is CDMA and CMP wouldn't pick up the cell towers. If I can get CMP work and keep TF3D that'd be great!
pocketalarm did pick up the cell towers but not sure if the author had to do any special coding for CDMA?? DHR - let me know if there is a way to use CMP with CDMA.
mm, thats interesting. Could you try it and tell me what happens or error appears? In the main windows should appear cell id and lac. Wich numbers you see? Its very curious becouse Windows API only provides one way to get cells. Maybe Its enough changing one initial parameter. Once you tell me what you see in those fields (cell & lac) I will try to fix it

Thanks I will research about it. It works with tf3d because CMP isnt a today plugin but a program. (although It has a today pluing available too). Indeed it shows info about profile-schedule on the first tab of page of TF3D....

Also DHR: I tried the new version and it does look slick but I still get 0 for LAC/Cell ID. Note I only installed it on the sd card, as I'm just using the standalone with TF3d and not the today plugin.
So the only solution that seems to work is phoneAlarm. I'll try secondtoday.
OK, I've been having this problem for a good couple of months now. About half the time that someone calls me, when I hit the Talk button on my phone it just mutes the ringer and doesn't answer the phone. Usually I try the 'Slide to answer' deal, and that just slides over to Answer and still doesn't do anything. I know the actual button is fine, it works great, i've tested it over and over again. I've changed HardSPL, ROM's, Radio's, etc. and I still see the same issue. What is wrong?! or is anyone else having something similar at least?
So I guess no one else has this issue, at all, with any ROM, radio, etc.?! I guess there must be something wrong with my phone. That kind of sucks.

I had the same issue with my htc mogul. These suggestions worked, give it a try (i will NOT take credit for these great tips/found them by searching):
dial ##778#/EPST/Modem Settings, change the slot cycle index number to 1
and or if that didn't fix it...
Take a look at your HKLM/Comm/ConnMgr/Planner/Settings/SuspendResume
It is a multi-sz value and should be #777. If it shows anything like ~GPRS or
something containing GPRS, change it back to #777 and soft reset.
Once I changed it back to #777, I can answer the call immediately when data is on, time and time again. Prior to this, there was a significant delay.
Please backup your phone prior to making these changes...
Good luck...

Thanks for the help, I don't know if I believe any of that though. First of all, the # codes are carrier specific, I have AT&T, what's your service? These codes didn't work at all for me. Second of all, I mentioned that I've changed ROM's numerous times, along with Radios, etc. and I still have the same issue. Maybe this worked for you, but for me it doesn't. I've been trying some stuff recently, re-flashing SPL, hardSPL, Stock ROMs, and I'm hoping the problem goes away although I'm not that confident. I keep thinking it must be physical as my phone's "talk" button works perfect. Every time I try it it always responds appropriately, except when trying to answer a call. Beyond that, when it does screw up, it at least mute's the ringer, so I know it's responding somewhere.
I'm not sure what to do about this. Guess I'd better just wait it out for a TP2 and sell this one and forget about it. Could be due to bad blocks, I've had numerous problems in the past that I've been able to pretty much prove were a result of bad blocks in the phone's memory. Oh well, thanks for trying, although none of that works!!
I assume he has Sprint.
I have the same problem answering calls too, and I think it's because of the slidetoanswer dialer. I'm using xECK29x's 6.5 ROM.

Thanks for the input, I think I'm going to try a different dialer for a while and see if that solves the problem. I wouldn't be surprised if that's the issue.
While his codes may be different (I'm also with AT&T), he may be onto something... I have had the same issue, but after reading this post, I have been watching, and the times the phone prevents me from answering are when I have had some sort of data (browser, GPS, etc) open in another window.
My 2 cents FWIW

I have an unlocked euro touch pro and cannot answer a call by touching the onscreen answer button. It will continue to ring tho. I have gotten in the habit of just using the hardware answer key. I've flashed numerous diff roms and all are this way, even the htc updated rom from their site. The only one that worked was the oem rom preloaded on the phone from factory. Not a big issue to me. I just deal with it.
Have this problem with energy's Roms. If you are on his 3.0 still go into Start>Tweaks>Advanced Config. Scroll down to Phone, Click on Phone Skin then Disable it. The setup of the call is different. Be sure to re enter you voicemail for it is erased when you disable the skin. Worked for me. No problems here. BTW you must understand that any Rom you flash will not be perfect!
I also have the same problem. And i to beleve its the new dialer thing. will try and change it, although i realy like the way you can search a contact with it. The other one is just a litte to small i feel. Anyway thanx for a good tip.
I'm also running into the same problem. I'll try disabling the phone skin to see how that works out.
Thanks everyone for your input!! I was a little scared to see no one answer this is at first, but now I can see this is a common problem. The dialer has to be the issue here, I've been running a standard dialer (not the phone canvas) for a couple days now and it's been perfect everytime.

Hey, it worked! I can't thank you enough, as this has been bugging the heck outa me. My slot cycle index was already set to 1, but my SuspendResume setting in the registry was "GPRS_bye_if_device_off". I had gotten to the point that I knew my problem was related to having a data connection going, but I had no idea where to go from there, and had no luck when searching the forums for a solution. Now my phone answers almost immediately, even whan I have a data connection going. Thanks again.

The same app unlock method is reported to work, that's good news.

I did the upgrade. Not much to get excited about. It doesn't bring much along with it at this time, except for maybe some bug fixes.
CHome Configurator works... sort of. There is a minor glitch in mine in that it hides one of the collapsed panels, but shows it when it is the main panel. Its kind of weird, as it is just a blank space placeholder in that one slot. Its like the panels are overlapping or something, maybe. And it seems to slow the phone down, as well. Like its thinking about something, constantly.
I'm trying to figure out how to get Titanium like the non-touch HTC guys have. That actually looks better, I think. (If anyone has a link, let me know?)
I Just flashed mine, will try to udate on what I notice besides the new orange startup/shutdown windows logo and a beep.
So far what I have observed (will update as I come across them):

1. Seem to be running slow even after formatting and rebooting.
2. Contacts now display their pic while browsing in the contact view. pretty cool
3. Phone will remember the last contact highlighted unless you quit the program in task mgr.
4. Can now create groups using contacts.
5. Can't *SMS* or MMS to more than 10 contacts at a time, even while using PowerSMS. WTF?! Hopefully I put in a weird setting somewhere, anyone know how to bypass that limit for SMS?

The best way that I have found to unlock the GPRS is by finding UAMgr.exe in the windows directory, create a shortcut to it in My Documents and click it to run it. Choose menu, tools, then choose unlock gprs. you should now be able to change the settings and also add connections.
Hope this helps.

Hi Guys,
Does anyone know what happens to the i637 Jack after WM 6.5 upgrade in regards to being locked to AT&T?

What happen if during upgrade your phone disconnects and not turn on? Do invalid warranty? Is there a way to repair it?

I guess I just don't understand how the provider can "lock" the phone so no other SIMs can be used on it.

Anyone figure out the 10 contact limit for sending SMS on WM 6.5 for the Jack yet?
I upgraded my i637 to WM 6.5 this weekend. All is good except for the annoying delay on the home screen when the phone goes to sleep.
When you press the power button to wake the phone up it takes a good 2 seconds before the clock is shown. That did not happen under WM 6.1
I saw a fix for the WM6.5 Lockscreen Delay http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=527219 but it did not do anything for the screen wakup delay on the Jack. Any ideas or suggestions would be very helpful.

I've noticed the same thing. Lame.
Also, the Home Screen is displaying the wrong softkey menu items (messaging Reply/Menu instead of Start/Contacts) periodically for no reason. Annoying. The only perceived benefit from the 6.5 update appears to be battery life, from everybody's feedback. It certainly isn't a better OS.
I own a Samsung Focus and I am slowly learning it. It is unlocked from rogers to my provider Telus. Everything works great except sending pictures over text. I have tried everything to send one. anyone have any ideas ???

Hey Kultch, I have a similar sitch, and remedy. I also have a rogers unlocked focus, but I'm using it on Virgin, and I found, (again, and again, since I have factory reset the phone many times), that using the, "Samsung Tools", app fixes my MMS issue every time, (the tool wasn't made for this specific issue, but it seems 2 be a good side effect. You should notice the difference after re-boot
**The issue stems from Samsung not recognizing your new providers sim card, resulting in the phone not resetting the VPN settings like it's suppose 2. You'll also probably notice that your browser defaults to a rogers site**
I can not using

What are we talking about here MMS?? What model of phone do you have, OS release, version #, ect.??
I just got the NA version of the ROG Phone 5 and sadly I cannot get VoWiFi working on TMobile. Sadly I'm in an area where I don't get the best signal and it's extremely important for this feature to work. Especially considering I spent 1k+ for this phone... Any help/guidance would be appreciated.
Have you enabled it in settings and then tried a reboot?
I've also noticed that it may not work until the SIM is installed BEFORE initial setup (or before a factory reset)
I confirmed with other people too. US version doesnt have Tmobile wifi. If it would, I would have bought one

Yeah I tried that but didnt work so i manually enabled it using the phone dialer and after i toggle it on or off it will turn on but it turns off after reboot so need to root it so i can make the settings stick.

It actually does work
My AT&T and T-Mobile SIMs (both Red Pocket MVNO) have VoLTE but not VoWiFi.

Yup just have to manually enable it Everytime it boots up but if you root it you can set the props and it will be permanent. In the process of doing that atm.

Sure here you go *#*#3642623344#*#*
You should be able to copy and paste if that doesn't work try pasting but delete the last * and add it manually. If that still doesn't work just manually type it in. But I tested it out a few times nd it works even turned on airplane mode and it works. Wi-fi calling was a deciding factor for me lol was about to return it until I found out I could get it to work properly.

I'd like to add that after running the dialing code you have to enable wifi calling in the settings app.
Aswell as that, at least for me, I need to disable and re-enable it within settings after re-running the dial after reboot, for it to actually reconnect
Just to avoid any confusion.
This does work tho! Kva is right!

It's so stupid wish they enabled it by default would make all our lives easier

I agree, but idk if they need some authorization from T-Mobile to enable it by default and we're just the end user working around that.
Otherwise, I'm not really sure at all why the functionality is developed but not enabled by default.

Yeah it's stupid I ended up talking to advanced tech support and the guy has never heard of ROG phone 5 and said I should return it cuz it seems like it's a hardware issue.... I'm like dude it's your system not giving me proper access's and authorizing my phone... He's like I guess you know more about phones than I do... The idiot even made me reset my phone to try and fix it even though I told him several times that has nothing to do with it.... I swear I have no idea how some of these morons get jobs as IT... At least have basic IT understanding....
They're not in IT. They're customer service reps. They read from a script.
Check out the movie The Internship. It's just like that.

Well, when I'm talking to the advanced Technical team I am not talking to customer service reps... I talked to a customer service rep and they forwarded me to the IT team. Considering they are called advanced technical teams I would assume they are in IT. whereas the initial person I talked to was and clearly stated she was a customer service rep.
The only difference between the two people you spoke with is that one had access and authorization to suggest more "advanced" solutions. I'm not saying they shouldn't have better training, but legitimate IT professionals rarely work the call center as more than a summer job.
Anyway, the point was that they're a waste of time unless the issue is the SIM card or your plan. It's unfortunate.
Dial codes typically trigger an intent. If you can track down the intent, you can have it launch automatically on boot. Once that's taken care of, it shouldn't be too hard to automatically enable the setting. That is assuming you called because setting the prop didn't work.
Another alternative if you do have a property and can't write to system is setting it with a magisk module, since the system is read only on a firmware level.

How would I set that up using magisk module? One Issue I have noticed is the wifi calling turns itself off after a while. sometimes it works for several hours other times maybe a day but then turns off and I have to restart the phone and run the command again.
