Cingular 8125 Faria WM6 MMS Error - 8125, K-JAM, P4300, MDA Vario ROM Development

Here are the specs on my phone:
Cingular 8125 G3
CID Unlocked
IPL 2.26
SPL 2.26
GSM 2.19.11
OS 2.18.0.0
Faria WM6
Unlimited data/web plan w/ AT&T
Registry cahnges:

"RILEnableEONS"=dword:4
When I originally loaded WM6 I had the latest radio version (2.6x I think) following all the guides on this site. However, I was continually missing calls/notifications. I reverted back to radio version 2.19.11 and now all of those troubles seem to have gone away. I am having an issue with MMS, however. I can receive messages fine, but when I attempt to send them, they never get sent. I have configured my MMS server using the following guide:
https://www.cingular.com/support/deviceConfig.do?content=KB56044.html
Whenever I attempt a send/recieve for MMS I get an "Error Synchronizing" error. All other functions seem to working great. Any ideas?

I had the same problem. This is the only set of instructions that I've found to work. Follow every step or it won't work.
http://www.pocketpcaddict.com/forum...ingular-using-unlocked-dopod-818-pro-usa.html

Rus,
Success! I checked out those instructions. It basically details rebuilding your whole connection (not something I wanted to do). But looking at it, I found what appears to be the issue: GPRS Authentication. The installed settings was for CHAP authentication. I changed this to PAP authentication and all seems right in the world. I could successfully send and receive both SMS and MMS messages.
Note:
Clicking “Send/Receive” in the MMS account still gives the “Error synchronizing” message, however, the messages were delivered.
Thank you for the lead...

Glad you got it all worked out. I looked high and low and tried many many different things before finding that set of instructions.

GPRS/EDGE fails to connect to Cingular

My 8125 has been SIM/CID unlocked and I've loaded numerous WM6 ROMs and currently have CROSSBOW RELOADED running. Never a problem (well maybe a few !!) flashing Faria's Roms or others. Thanks for all the GREAT ROM work!! I also have a ROM Kitchen ROM version I loaded too!!
The ONE issue I have is that the GPRS/EDGE data connection refuses to connect. I live in area with EDGE but I fail to see the E or G icon pop up EVER. When the modem tries to dial the G icon appears briefly but I get the "no connection...." message.
WiFi and Bluetooth work like a champ on all ROMs loaded.
I thought that this behavior might be caused by Radio ROM and I've loaded the following with same results: 2.40.11, 2.47.11, and currently have 2.19.11 running. I also went back to Cingular 2.25.11 without success.
At one point I flashed back to the button 1.05 in hopes of cleaning stuff out! I then upgraded to stock Cingular 2.25 and same problem. No data connect. I then when ahead and flashed up to WM6 (Crossbow_reloaded).
Yes, I have a $20/mo Cingular data plan and I'm using the standard WAP settings for Cingular.
What am I missing???
Appreciate your help!!

Hmmm. Sorry to ask such a question, but does it do it when you're unplugged from the USB cable?
Under Start - Settings - Connections - Connections - Advanced - Select Networks, did you try both My ISP and MEdia Net?
Try these cabs if you haven't already:
Thanks for your suggestions. Yes, I'm disconnected from USB while testing data connection.
I ran both of the cabs you included in response, but no help.
Any other thoughts?
Thanks,
I have wondered if there is a chance that some flag is set in the SIM that is preventing my connection. Anyone have experience here?
THX,
I've never had an issue with GPRS/EDGE after running either of the cabs above. I'm curious if you were to go back to the stock Cingular rom if it would all start working, or if there is some other issue going on here.
Also, for Cingular, if you are running WM6, don't even attempt to use any radio other than T-Mo 2.19 UK. Newer ones just seem to cause problems on the Cingular network with WM6.
I believe I have flashed back to stock Cingular 2.25 with this: (RUU_Wizard_225111_22511102_022511_CWS_WWE_Ship_1).
I get same symptoms. I tried both "MY ISP" and "MEDIA Net" network settings with same results. I ran the cabs sent in this thread a couple of days ago too.
Specifically, I start IE and enter a web address and tap the green arrow to open the page. The little G appears w/moving arrows in the top bar and the info box says "Connecting to: Cingular GPRS". It stops and tries again and eventually the info box says: "Cannot connect: Dialed wap.cingular. There is no modem at this number".
Anything else to try?
Appreciate your help!

I found a related thread at the Cingular forums:
http://forums.cingular.com/cng/board/message?board.id=cingular&thread.id=40993
According to prubin (poster in the above thread), Cingular discovers you are on the wrong plan for your PDA and automatically disables your access. I don't know how true that is, but it may be time for a call to Cingular to verify your connection and plan.

Not true at all.
The only reason they disable the accounts has nothing to do with the device, but the amount of data usage.
Those yahoos were probably using > 500mb of data a month, or something insane that threw the flag.
Cingular doesn't care what type of device you have. It's just a marketing gimmick for them.
Yeah if you can't connect on the stock Cingular rom (the extended rom configuration will set all the GPRS and MMS stuff up for you so its ready to go) then you need to call Cingular, as its either them blocking you (not sure how they would do that really) or your phone has an issue. Be prepared, it seems Cingular will do some basic troubleshooting and then they'll offer to ship you a new phone. They don't take much time to really look into why a problem happens if its not very basic. I had a question about MMS messages and after a couple of minutes they were ready to ship me a replacement phone. I just laughed at how dumb that was. I let them note it in my account so I can get a future replacement very easily, but declined at the time.
A guy I work with has had Cingular replace (warranty exchange) his 8125 3 or 4 times now (he gets a scratch on it, so he calls and tells them some feature doesn't work)... Sheesh.

And people wonder why it costs so much for a phone - I'm paying for those replacements!!!

Yep, I totally agree. But the cell companies don't seem to discourage it either.

No MMS after WM6 upgrade

I have a T Mobile MDA (Wizard), unlocked on UK O2. I flashed to Faria Crossbow WM6 a while ago and everything is fine apart from getting MMS to work. I have manually input the network settings for WAP, MMS etc. but when sending error message states 'error synchronizing' and it stays in the outbox.
I downloaded the O2 operator settings cab file from the ftp site which always worked with WM5 but it doesn't add any settings in WM6.
Maybe unconnected but I used to have the G gprs icon before I flashed - haven't seen it since - any ideas?
what are your MMS settings that you're inputting?
MMS

May be something in the MMS Composer by Arcsoft!
Anyone else?

have you tried manually entering both the GPRS and MMS settings from your carrier as opposed to a cab file?
I have the same problem with NBD 7.1 rom.
No problem with Core2.0
I'm using usual Vodafone MMS settings!
As writen above, do not rely on CABs (I had also a problem with one "MMS setting" CAB not doing it properly), do it manually...
I did it succesfully in XDA MOBILE 6 (making MMS connection in Setting > Connections > Connections and then setting its usage in Messaging).
It is more work, but it is safer.
Your operator certainly has some instructions (in my case I worked according to the instructions how to set it in WM5 on MDA III - they were still good for WM 6 on MDA Vario).
If you have problems in one specific ROM, post to that thread (maybe the coook screwed up/removed MMS).

Picture/Video Messaging?

My buddy got a new phone and gave me his old 8125 to play with. He loaded it with a rom from this site, think it was the TNT OS (ver 3 i beleive). I used to use the sliver and was able to send/receive pictures and video messages. Ever since i put my sim card in this phone i cannot, when i receive one it gives me the option to download it but then download fails after connecting to GPRS. When trying to send one the same thing happens connects to GPRS and fails. I can send/receive SMS fine, just not picture/video messages. Anybody know what i need to do to fix this?
I'm using AT&T/Cingular

maybe you should reconfigure your MMS settings..
See the following links, screenshots are for WM5, but is similar in WM6. Depending on the version of Arcsoft's MMS, may be different ways to get to the MMS settings...

There are also various CAB files you can find on here to automatically set these up...

Good luck!
i dont have the mms configuration secton like those howto's have, i need to figure out i guess what is on this phone and maybe put somthing newer on it. I just dont want to kill the phone, havnt really done this stuff before.
try this automated network configuration, developed by one of the guys here in xda-dev, install, then go to start/settings/connection/network wizard, choose your country and your cell provider and just wait for instructions
just a fyi for anybody who cares or anybody else with the same problem but this attachment/cab fixed the problem!

Problem establishing internet connectivity

I could use some help re-establishing internet connectivity for my 8125.
Background:
The phone had been running mfrazzz's WM6r3 ROM and I loved it.
A few weeks ago I'd begun having intermittent problems synchronizing my Hotmail account using my 8125. Usually the first attempt to do a send/receive each day would fail to synchronize but then each subsequent send/receive would work fine unless I hadn't used the phone in several hours.
Then about three days ago the send/receive action would lock up while attempting to synchronize in Hotmail and the send/receive would eventually fail.
I searched this forum as well as the Howard forum but could not find any help with this problem so I decided to re-flash the ROM in the hope that doing so would correct any corrupt file(s) that might the reason for the synchronization failure.
So, yesterday I flashed the ROM, this time installing the new WM6r4 that mfrazzz put up a few weeks ago. I followed the correct procedure of first flashing to the 2.26 Tmobile ROM which I followed with the 3.08 TMobile ROM and then the new WM6r4 ROM. I've also installed the 2.69 radio, the Cingular Fix cab and used the Cingular gprs/mms settings cab linked in mfrazzz's post.
Current situation:
Now I have no internet connectivity whatsoever. I realize that this is probably a settings issue, but I hadn't had this problem before when I've used the Cingular settings cab.
Does anyone have any suggestions for me? If I need to provide any further background, I'll be glad to do so.
Thanks.
This may or may not solve your problem, but with a similar config (8125/XM6R4/Cingular), I suddenly had no internet connectivity starting last Wednesday night (December 19). I seemed to have a working a GPRS or EDGE connection, everything looked fine, but no application could connect to the internet. and there was no indication on the web of any outage and my wife's Cingular Blackberry worked fine. (This is in Washington, DC.)
I eventually fixed it by going into connections/manage existing connections, and changing the access point name from wap.cingular to isp.cingular, and in the user name, also replacing wap with isp. I did this on a whim, and it worked. There seems to be an elaborate debate on various sites about whether wap.cingular or isp.cingular is faster or better, but all I know is that as of the last few days, isp works and wap didn't. Maybe the wap server was just offline for a couple days.
Unfortunately, before I stumbled on this solution, I thought the ROM might be the problem, so I did a hard reset and now I have to set the thing up again. Oh well! Otherwise, I'm very happy with the XM6R4 rom.
Yes, something is wrong. I have the EXACT symptoms posted above. I will try the fix (renaming the wap.cingular and username...) I wonder if ATT is changing somethign on us.....
the fix above does NOT work for me. I think that ATT has changed something.
Fixed it.... I had to remove the DNS server IP address and select "Use server assigned address"... now it works....
Thanks for the help. I've been out of touch with the net for a week or so on vacation or I'd have replied sooner.
I checked and found that my DNS server setting was already set for a server-assigned IP address so I tried the WAP to ISP switch that mschmitt recommended. That worked and now I have rapid connectivity just as I'd expected with this ROM.
tmobile issue
im having the same problem but i have tmobile can anybody post the steps to fix this?
update : i hade to change my acess point name to internet2.voicestream.com

HTC Excalibur T-mobile mms message setup issue (yes I already searched)

I have an unlocked HTC Excalibur/Dash that I am using on the T-Mobile USA network. It came pre-installed with Windows Mobile 6.1.
I cannot send or recieve MMS messages. Everytime I try I get an "Error synchronizing" message. I have followed instructions in an older thread for inputing GPRS and MMSC settings, but I still am having the same error.
Any help you can offer outside of telling me to search will be greatly appreciated.
I appologize if bumping isn't kosher here, but threads seem to get buried quickly.
Can anyone point me to a solution for this?
Having same issue, tried many settings under the mms, it might be roaming network setting issues. I haven't tried this yet, but I'm thinking that because I'm in roaming, I am unable to get any MMS.
