Will flashing an AT&T tilt with the HTC ROM unlock it from the network - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III Windows Mobile ROM De

I am curious if flashing my AT&T tilt with the HTC software will allow me to use a sim card from another carrier. Has anyone tried this?

Nope. Find something/someone/someway to SIM unlock phone. Not possible as of yet. ROM flashing will work only after you CID unlock your phone, which means you can flash different ROMs onto your phone than originally suppied.

Some post couple days ago talk about how to sim unlock already, just search for it and call the att number on there, it work for me.

haha, yeah, for some reason i never think to call up At&t for anything... i'm sure you can lie to your provider so they will give you the unlock code (at least until enough people use the same story verbatim to where they realize that it must be posted some discussion board as to how to get sim unlocked....)

I am still somewhat confused as to the unlocking aspect.
I know I can obtain the SIM unlock code for the Tilt from AT&T. Are you saying that it is still impossible to CID unlock the phone, once this has been done?

SIM unlocking and CID unlocking are two different things.
CID unlocking allows you to use OS ROMs from other variants of the same hardware. i.e. HTC TyTn II ROM on a Tilt. CID unlocking can be done easily with HardSPL.
SIM unlocking allows you to use SIMs other than your carrier's. Right now the only way to get a Tilt SIM-unlocked is to get an unlock code from AT&T, or to purchase an unlock code from someone else (who is probably just abusing an "insider" within AT&T to feed them unlock codes.). Flashing an alternative radio ROM can remove a SIM lock, but from a few posts I have read, it is going to be much more difficult/take much longer for our enterprising hackers to figure out how to flash an unsigned radio ROM and have it actually boot, apparently the radio bootloader now does an integrity/signing check against the ROM and will only boot signed carrier ROMs.

Well then I'm still going to call ATT tomorrow for the sim Unlock (heading to japan in a month) but, from what your saying does that mean i can go ahead and flash my phone using HardSPL to HTC stock? or do i need to have sim unlock first regardless what i do?

I understand it's encrypted. But what happens if you dump the radio rom from a tytnii and flash it onto a 8925?

Don't think it'll work. I think that the ROM has to be signed until the bootloader gets cracked. Not sure. If it worked, we would've heard about it and it would be in all the FAQs.

I wonder how it works though. Definitely am not knowledgeable enough about this yet, but upgrades have come out in the past for older phones. It wouldn't change the lock state though. Why is that? If there's a way to corrupt it and then flash back the original? Are there any signed radio roms out?
What exactly happens when you flash an unsigned one? Brick or just no radio?

Can you let me know how it goes with the call to AT&T? I'm going to HK in December and will call AT&T soon. I want to wait a little before calling since I just got the phone last week.

No worries. Tell them just that. You'll be off the phone within 5 minutes. No hassle at all compared to when I called to get my nokia 6682 unlocked a year ago. Just make sure you call international support

Unlocked HTC Fuze

Simple question needing a simple answer.
If my phone is unlock by using a code provided by ATT how do I lock back the phone for warranty issues?
Do I just reinstall the original ATT Fuze stock rom?
Thanks...
If it's unlocked through ATT, it's perfectly fine to return it in the same condition for warranty purposes.

if you unlocked by code from AT&T, then you don't need to relock it to return it. not sure why you thought you needed to relock it.
After hours spent talking to ATT to get the code to unlock my full paid phone, I was told once I unlock the phone it voids my warranty.
Thats why I ask..

are you sure you are CID unlocking or just sim unlocking. if you sim unlock you CANNOT FLASH ROMS. if it is CID unlocked basiclly wide open then your fine to flash roms etc.

ok obviosuly no one knows what therwe talking about here..but i can give it to californiyay because hes ASKING THE QUESTION..i dont mean to be a jerk but dont give out answers if you dont know what your talking about...sorry that sounded really mean lol
ok sim unlocking is just alowing your device to utilize a different carrier's sim card and the warranty department cant detect if it is unlocked IF yu used the method ON XDA..now if they gave you a code i BELIEVE that is solely based on the rom you are using because one you flash another rom it MAY ask you again for that code when you insert a different sim..i myself have never used codes from carrier reps ive only done it myself through hardware devices and software hacks...so even if your device is SIM UNLOCKED you STILL CAN FLASH ROMS
and you dont need to CID to flash roms..i personally dont cid unlock anymore because on the bootloader screen at the top it wuill say "SECURITY UNLOCKED" and if you want to do a warranty return and even though you reverted your device back to warranty spec rom and spl it still blares that message at the top of the bootloader screen which is a dead giveaway..
just dont trip if you need to do a warranty exchange just call em up (18008011101) and just tell them your isue if and when you have one and they send you a new device and you send yous back..and viola your good..

they only give out sim unlock codes...CID unlocking is done through software hacks...
Try emptying your cache immediately before clicking on the link (I needed to do that). You may also want to turn off any anti-virus software (and perhaps pop-up blockers). You also need 7zip or winrar to open up the folder.
BTW, I purchased the unlocker, and then chickened out and didn't use it when I found out (and didn't understand) what it did. So, I also bought the SIM unlock code from htccode.com. If you go that route, the phone does stay unlocked after ROM flashing (there was an earlier Q about that, I just thought I'd address it).
Sorry, still a little confused on the whole SIM/CID Unlocking, so I have to SIM unlock to flash roms? and what benefit does CID unlocking give me? what form of unlocking do I need to change radios?

You need to SIM unlock the phone to use different carriers (t-mobile, orange, etc.). You need the security lock to flash non-raphael radios. You don't need to do anything (except install hard-spl) to flash roms, unless the rom contains a non-raphael radio (most do not change the radio, from what I gather).
When I flash a rom, do I still have the old at&t stuff on there so I can just reboot with the vol down button if I dont like the rom? sorry to be so ignorant, we all have to start somewhere. Ive tried searching but when you type in "flash rom" you end up getting 392 threads to search through.
I'm curious too as I'll be getting my Fuze on Saturday

if you want to go back to your original rom, then you'll have to download the stock rom and flash it again. Doing a hard reset will just give you a fresh copy of the cooked rom you flashed.
So, just for saftey I have located the stock rom for my phone, now, it says it has a radio, the radio is the same version as mine, but I have heard not to flash with a radio if your device is locked because it may brick the device, does this apply for using the same radio to flash with? (I just want to be very careful when I do this not to screw anything up)

Unlock Att Fuze ?

Yesterday, i just got Att Fuze without contract but that need to be filled the code. My friend said that i can buy the code on somewhere but after hard reset that code will be lost and need to fill another code again. Another way that is using unlockcid and hardspl but after that he dont know exactly what will happen and just know Fuze can up another rom. So after i unlockcid and hardspl, the first rom att built in will not change ?

Just read the sticky in the rom development section, the one about UNLOCKER. You will need to pay for it. But it is worth it.
So, can you use the Unlocker multiple times, if you need it after a hard re-set? Or, do you need to purchase another? Thanks!
(Edit: I think I know the answer from reading the Unlocker thread, but I don't understand all the techno-stuff and get nervous.)
Why don't you just read the sticky thread regarding the unlocker.
I have read the thread, but like I said, I don't understand all of the techno-stuff and am not interested in flashing new ROMs. Most of the questions and answers go beyond what I want to know (Q. Do I need to SIM unlock everytime I hard re-set the device? Answer: I don't think so.).

How does that relate to the CID unlocker? To flash roms and radios you need to hard-spl your phone. CID unlock is a security unlock. SIM Unlock can be provided by the provider. and flashing roms/radios is possible by flashing hard-spl.

CDMA TP2 from sprint unlocking question

okay so I have searched and searched and all tutorials all point to http://rhodiumw.htc-unlocks.com/ for unlocking but the thing is I got my code from htccode.com now I dont know how to enter this code to unlock my device. from my understanding is this not possible? I used my tmobile sim switched to gsm but never get a prompt to enter lock code.
is using rhodiumw the only way yo be able to unlock the Sprint version? I hope I didnt waste my money purchasing a code I cant even use I tried searching online but nothing! im lost and was hoping to unlock my device but now its looking less and less likely.
Any help would be appreciated and hoping someone else has used htccode.com to unlock their TP2 from sprint
If you want to unlock the SPL to flash custom ROMs, you need this:
http://rhodiumw.htc-unlocks.com/hard-spl.php
If you want to unlock your phone to use a different carrier SIM card use this:
http://rhodiumw.htc-unlocks.com/
If you use the websites I linked you should not have to purchase a 3rd party code (although the SIM unlock does cost a 'donation').

I've been reading around it seems you need to flash a patched radio as well.
As for a work-around, the only way to do with Sprint is flash a patched radio. However to my understanding in order to flash a GSM radio (even when it's part of a combo radio such as in our case,) the phone must be "security & CID unlocked". I was confused about this until I realized that it is NOT the same thing as HardSPL unlocked. I believe there is more in the Upgrades section regarding the differences between HardSPL and CID/Security unlock.

[Q] Seriously need help with unlocked ATT One X

Alright guys, I am posting out of desperation.
I am no pro when it comes to rooting/unlocking/ROMming Android phones but I have read myself to death and I am not getting anywhere. I am almost willing to send this phone to someone who knows what they are doing. I really don't feel like buying another phone. In hindsight, I should've made sure I was getting a true unbranded HOX.
I bought an unlocked, AT&T One X from Amazon while I was in Afghanistan. Received the phone via APO, put in my Roshan SIM card, and was working fine. I traveled extensively in the past few months, all over the Middle East and South Asia, phone was working fine, I just picked up a local sim card and off I went.
Well then I went back to the US for the first time with this phone. Put in my TMobile SIM, and was working fine as well. Well now I left the country again, and now I can't pick up any networks at all. I have changed the radio via the USSD to GSM, WCDMA, everything, but can't pick up any networks. Keep in mind I also still have my SIM card that I bought when I was here. I insert the card, it says preparing sim card, etc, but won't find any networks.
How do I know if the phone is still SIM unlocked? Woulnd't it prompt me for an unlock code when I insterted the foreign SIM again? Do I need to root? Does my bootloader need to be unlocked to use any SIM?
What I was figuring I would try to do was flash a different ROM so I don't have to worry about this being an AT&T phone anymore. When I boot into the bootloader, it says LOCKED at the top with S-ON. There has never been an update done to the phone since I got it.
Things i've tried:
Any root for 1.85 ( I have tried every root for 1.85 you can search for on here)
RUU to update to 2.2 (says main battery power low, but it isn't)
Factory Reset
I really don't care so much to get a new ROM, I just want my phone to work. Here is what I get in the info page on the phone:
The bootloader says HBOOT 1.09 is installed
Kernel Version:
3.0.8-01155-gca24d1e
[email protected] #1
SMP PREEMPT
Build Number
1.85.502.3_R2 CL63811 release-keys
Sense 4.0
Android 4.0.3
Software Number
1.85.502.3 710RD
If you need any more info let me know but I am dying here
Sim unlock and bootloader unlock are two different things. I don't think either has anything to do with the other.
Assuming you bought this from a legit seller on Amazon, factory unlocked is factory unlocked. I've never heard of a phone getting sim locked from putting in a sim card. If you didn't get a "input unlock code" the first time, your phone isn't sim locked and is not locked down to AT&T.
Before you can root, though, you have to unlock the bootloader. That's why your root attempts keep failing. You want to stay on 1.85, trust me--later firmware is more locked down.
Are you sure there's nothing wrong with the other sim card you got? Have you tried a new one?

Really? The bootloader has to be unlocked before you can root? I definitely thought it was the other way around. I guess that would explain it, then..
What I actually ended up doing was repeatably trying the RUU, and finally got it to take the 2.2FW upgrade. As soon as that happened, I was pulling down 4G like nobodies business. Though, now that i've read your post, I kind of wish I would've stuck with trying to get a new ROM on it, instead of upgrading. I really have no idea why a FW upgrade made the radio start working like magic, or what would casue that at all.

As long as you stay in this forum, these phones are tough to brick. The only way to do it is to flash roms for the international (Tegra 3) version.
Note that on 2.20., you have to flash the boot.img in fastboot when you flash a rom.
Youll never brick your phone as long as you have access to the bootloader or recovery lol

If he wants cleanrom he won't have to be confused with fastboot. Just download rom and flash that sucker

Unlocking bootloader on ebay purchased TMobile 7 Pro

Thinking of buying one of these and want to clarify the process of unlocking the bootloader. From the ebay seller he says it is a T-Mobile phone but is sim unlocked already. He says I will have to contact oneplus to get the bootloader unlock code/token. I don't really want to wait the forty days or whatever I heard it was but it's ok as long as I can definitely get it unlocked eventually and won't be stuck for some reason with a locked bootloader. Thanks for any info you can provide.

I've ran across two of your posts asking the same question. I had done the same thing as you. I bought an eBay sim unlocked op7p. At first I flashed the international firmware to just bypass the whole tmobile bootloader unlock. It worked in the sense that I was able to unlock the bootloader, however I had no service and the phone would not detect my sim (Cricket). I tried another sim with the same results. I had to use the msm tool and flash back to tmobile stock firmware in order for it to work with my sim.
I sent in my request for an unlock token and received it in 7 days. I think the 40 days is only for brand new phones. I would submit the unlock token request and go that route. YMMV, you may very well be able to flash the international software and just bypass it. I didn't have that luck. The 7 day wait wasn't so bad. Hope this helps.

That's good to know that I can get the unlock token if needed. So TMobile doesn't care who you are or that you don't have a T-Mobile account or live in US obviously then?

I have not flashed back to international because I couldn't get the phone to detect my sim even after updating the international firmware.
I would however recommend that once you flash back to TMobile (using msm) that you do the OTA (settings>system>check for updates)
Currently I'm running unlocked and rooted via magisk. I'd like to flash a custom rom (looking at resurrection) but they say to flash the international rom to both slots first (via recovery like twrp) and I'm not sure if that would cause the sim issue again. I haven't had time to ask about it (if I can flash straight from tmo stock rooted to a custom rom like resurrection). So unfortunately I don't have the best answer there. You may ask around in some of the custom rom threads about just flashing straight from the TMobile stock firmware with unlocked bootloader. If you happen to find out an answer, please pm me and let me know.

Actually I was mistaken. Once I updated the international rom to Android Q my sim started working again and now I am on Bliss and sim is still working. Not sure what is going on with your sim.
