Hi, does anybody knows the part/model number for the Treo 750V display? Today a metallic piece felt on my 750V display, leaving a small but visible dent on its surface. I was wondering if it's possible to eventually replace the display, or it there is any product suitable to "fill" the dent. Btw, has anybody already dismounted the 750? Any issue encountered during the operation?
Many thanks to all.
i think you have on youtube
just type treo and on 3th or 4th page you will find about unmounting treo 680 which is similar to 750.
Thanks. I've found the video and also a video for the 755p which seems to be equal to 750, in hardware appareance. Does anybody knows if the 650 / 680 screens are compatible with the 750...?

Don't know about the 650/680 but I saw a replacement screen for the 750 at www.pdaparts.com for $99...seems a tad high to me but I guess it's a lot less than $500 for a new 750.

Partly because I have damaged my Magician case slightly, and partly because I find the SPV M500 a lot more visually appealing, I'm curious whether they are actually the very same device with different casing, and if it would be possible to buy the M500 casing somewhere and pop my Jam into it.
Anyone else interested in doing this? Anyone know if it is possible?
For you who haven't seen the M500, msmobiles has a review of it.

The design certainly is a matter of personal taste. I find the standard Jam/S100 design unfinished and also prefer the Orange version, so I am keeping an eye on this thread...
Placed side by side the orange version is slightly larger than the jam, so it may not work.

Unfinished is definitely the right way to express it. It looks like an engineering sample to me.
I remember reading that somebody was able to order a new casing for the Jam. If that person may please step forward and explain how this was done, it might be a way to get hold of the M500 casing.
Or maybe somebody with an orange contract can contact them in the matter?
Firstly, however, somebody would need to disassemble their M500 so that we can compare its innards with the Jam. There are guides how to disassemble these devices in this forum.

Hi LeSkip,
I also like this new look, but my problem is the accessories, have have several leather, silicone cases, and they are all made for Qtek,Imate,O2 mini, xda mini...
If you get to know where these hard cases come from, i'm sure you can ask them for a case...
I have no doubts that it is technically possible to switch the cover. We just need to replace the switches, styli and buttons too. Along with cases and such, of course, as has already been mentioned here. Not a big problem to me, but I see a few other issues, though:
1. Where to buy the M500 cover?
2. The price! It appears to me that no HTC cover has ever been cheap!
3. Once the Magician has been opened, all traces of your warranty is gone!
I think you can get the casings from your local HTC Service centres

According to the last post in this HowardForums thread they are the exakt same size.

Hey everybody, Cracked the screen on my 750. Everything still works OK except for the touchscreen. I'm trying to get a replacement off of eBay, but I'm not sure what to buy.
Can anybody tell me what "other" screens are compatible with the Treo 750 (ATT/Cingular).
I'm guessing that the 700W, 700WX and 755 all will work. Can anybody verify this or give me direction where I can verify for myself ??? Will any others work?? 650, 680, 700P??
Thanks a lot.
P.S. Thanks to everybody for the WM6 stuff. I have it on my desktop computer waiting 'till I get the screen fixed before I do the install........(CHEEIMG.nbh)

You have to buy a 750 or 680 screen the other screens just dont fit.
I've bought this one http://cgi.ebay.com/LCD-Digitizer-T...ryZ41343QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem just a complete screen with touchscreen, screenguard and screwdrivers.
Thanks for the reply. Did you install it already? Did it fit and function well ? Was it installed on a 750 ??
Thanks again......
Treo 750 screen resolution is 240 x 240
Treo 680 screen resolution is 320 X 320
i dought 680 screen wiil work on 750 as Windows mobile 5 dose not support 320x320 but WM6 dose so u might be lucky !!?
ifit work cen u post a picture of it and somr feed back as well ?
i did one palm this yea
700wv is same as 650.
wizzard cheetah same screen.
Gave a retail repair shop 650 told them that it would fit a 700 from sprint didn't work and when i got the palm back screen was burned out. 700 worked still just cracked. I since then have held onto the plam treo 650 to analize it. It is very different from the others. I just got a 700wv and from the looks of it im am staring at a 650 cingular phone so i would have to say that windows can be put on symbian?????????
be back later
650 burnt out in
OK, here's what I found out from Palm. The 700W, 700WX, 750 and 750V are all compatible. These are all Windows Mobile OS. Palm OS will not work on Windows phones.
I asked about the possability of using a 320 X 320 screen if I update to WM6 and they said that even though WM6 supports a 320 X 320 res. screen, the 750's hardware will only support 230X 230.
I ordered a new screen (700W) off of eBay for $45.00 I will post any info/ pictures that I can about the installation when I get to that point......
OK, I had to do the install away from home, and I forgot the camera so no pictures. I used the "youtube" videos for 680 (same body style) and the 700W (same screen). Neither of them was exactly the same, but I got the jist of it from both.
I'm not 100% sure, but it seems that you do not have to disconnect the motherboard on the 750 to replace the screen. 2 things that gave me trouble were rubber pieces that "fell out" during the process. One under the ringer on-off switch and the other was inside the case where the stylus slides in. (took a while to figure out where they came from)
After installation I had trouble with the backlight going off, but while messing with the battery advanced functions it suddenly came on and is fine now.
Feels very comforting to get my touchscreen back.
Now for "CHEEIMG.nbh"
680 and 700 repair videos on youtube are from "PDAparts.com" at this link.

Good luck ......................
thx, i find the video in youtube is very useful
I really wanted the front camera, but wasn't willing to spend upwards of $400 for it, comparing a non-contracted TyTN II and a contracted Tilt, or even a$200 difference for a non-contracted Tilt.
So, I'm thinking... Is there any way to get the front half of the unit with the screen and the front camera, just so I can get the full TyTN II?
I'm already CID unlocked and SIM unlocked, just thought I'd try to see if I can take it to the next level...
Yes it can be done, I believe. I did this very same thing with my 8525 after getting my hands on a broken JasJam from someone I know and then performing the necessary surgery (funny, because I really am a surgeon!). Now, there ARE a few caveats here: one, I knew for a fact that the AT&T 8525 and the i-mate JasJam were fundamentally the same hardware, and that the 8525 actually had the socket for the camera, so I just took the JasJam's camera, plugged it in, and replaced my 8525's faceplate with the JasJam's.
Because this device is new, however, you're going to have to wait for some time before spare parts become available. And because most mobile device people are highly neurotic, I don't expect that they're going to part with even a broken device, but you never know.
PDADoc, that's a cool story about the camera surgery. I love it!
Glad you enjoyed it, lol! I just got bored and since I already had my Kaiser device I figured why not? It worked out well enough, so it's in the desk drawer for use as a backup device. I'm vascillating on whether to sell it or not in the meantime.
love the surgery story too..wish you filmed it. "Vascillating"? LOL Yeah you're definitely a Doctor!

interesting. I'd personally much rather transplant a speaker there though. It'd be especially useful for playing videos. Having the speaker on the back for that job is just silly.
does anyone knows if a hermes cam is the same of a tilt cam? i wanna do same as the "surgeon" but on ebay i can only find hermes cams... thank you
I think a couple guys over at hofo have done this with the Kaiser.. Ofcourse the hard part is finding the camera.
Once you do find the camera, cnn.cn has the front faceplate with the camera hole so if you do get a damaged kaiser with a marked up front cover, you can pick that one up for 12.99 plus shipping.

The best way would be to buy it and find out if it works?
I don't know if anyone could give you the answer 100% as most people who have Kaisers with cameras own HTC TyTN IIs and not Tilts. Unless if someone has access to the part numbers for both the Hermies and the Kaiser I don't know if you'd get the information you are looking for.

Hello,
I broken my HTC Rose display (E.U Version)
HTC support can repair my phone for 210$ !!!!
So, I search a new tft display to change it myself.
Somebody know where can I find it ?
I only find an ebay shop in Hong kong who sell it 66$ but an US version and they are not sur that it's compatible with a E.U. version ...
Thank you in advance
Gotcha
IMHO a chance, that s740 and s743 (US version) have different displays is very low. The only difference between the phones is officially a 3G radio. Economically it would not make sense to do them different - especially, if power supply is the same miniUSB compatible thingie.
Only little possibility is an upgrade. Nevertheless it's a matter of effectiveness again - it is pointless to do it if it would require different circuits on motherboard or so. By side of fact, that non-touch QVGA with 65k colors isn't a rocket science ;-) .
Hi all,
I have the same problem
My Smartphone is HTC S740
The display is broken(only front glass) but I see the pichure.
Where is a guide for open the device?
Thanks

Thanks!!
mumble mumble....the instructions are difficult for change only glass(the display works)
I know this is an old topic.
But I just changed the screen on my S740 (only the glass was broken). I ordered a screen from ebay including tools for 26 EUR.
I followed the instructions on this blog:
http://blog.jmedved.com/2010/01/how-to-replace-broken-screen-on-htc.html
It's not the easiest thing to do because you basically have to take the whole phone apart, but it's cheaper than a used phone of ebay (plus you don't have to reinstall).
Hello all,
Im new to the forum, so I must apolagise if i have posted in the wrong section. I wasnt sure as this is a hardware rather than software issue.
I have been given a Vodafone 845 / Huawei Joy, and i want to obviously play around with it and root it etc. Unfortunately, this phone has a resistive screen, and the actual LCD display underneath is damaged. I have scoured the internet, does anyone happen to know of any suppliers offering cheap generic replacements, or can I use another 2.8" screen with same res and remake off the ribbon connections?
Many thanks,
Nick
Can anyone help with this? Mother in law managed to destroy her present within a week...
