Tap menu/show all files. Scan the complete directory for the missing folder. You may need to hard reset again with the storage card out of the device.

factory restore problem

i want to do a factory restore on my phone to clean all the unnecessary junk file created before, i am using windows mobile 6.1, htc touch pro, dont know if it matters
i am wondering after i do the restore, do i have to install all my programs again on my storage card or i can just take my storage card out when doing the factory restore and once restore is completed, i can plug in the storage card and use the program with no problem??
i have quite a lot of program on my storage card and i lost those .cab files overtime, dont want to spend time looking for it again.
does anyone know if this will work??
many thanks
it depends. some applications require system files to be installed either in root/program files or in root/windows on your internal storage... so it's hard to tell whether you will lose them or not.
you can list the applications you have installed and i'll tell you what i know.
the one i really want to keep is my GPS, is Garmin and is installed onto the storage card
garmin should have its installation ready in the storage card incase you had to hard reset.
If you purchased garmin, you wouldn't have a problem installing it again and getting the maps
Nir, you get around my friend haha.
@rubbishhk, just a note, when you come to reinstall ur apps, if you dont delete the folders where the programs are installed on your storage card (garmin excepted) you will find u get an error when trying to re-install that program as the files already exist.
Back up ur storage card as it is to ur PC, then delete the program folders. u will then be able to re-install them no probs. Wot i do is save all my cabs in a folder on the storage card, so if i ever have to hard reset, at least i have the cabs saved on my card ready to go.
ps use advanced config and turn off "delete cabs after install" that way they will always stay on r card after u install.

Off topic i know, but i saw this yesterday and thought mmmm Ill read the thread as i need to be able to use exchange email.... im still holding out for m3d hd thread
yeah, TF3DHD should be very cool.
I tried tflo3d and it worked and was kool (obviously jerky still) but lets hope the team find a solution for the 3d driver power off issue.
you are aware of the fact that there's something called "TF3D standby" which lets you turn off your display right?
rite, i didnt but i have now downloaded and going to give it a try!! Cheers Nir

Tilt Hard Reset question

ive been having a couple nagging issues w/my Tilt, and am hoping a hard reset solves them, since nothing else seems to. i know these will be noob-ish questions, but usually by the time i figure i need a hard reset, its jus time to get a new device, but im holding out for the TP2
1.) should i remove my storage card before i hard reset? i have my ringtones, pics, etc. on there, wondering if i need to back it all up & leave card in.
2.) i have programs installed to my storage card, do i need to uninstall them before hard resetting?
3.) any other tips/advice i need to know before doing so? anythings i need to especially backup beforehand, etc. etc.
thanks in advance to any/everyone who helps out here !
anyone help??
1) If you have flashed a custom rom, you better Hard Reset your phone with your card in it because some roms installs programs at the storage card.
You will lose all your data ONLY at your phone memory, not at the storage card.
2) You don't have to uninstall them but after the HR some of them will not work because all the registry keys are deleted. So I will recommend you after (or before, it doesn't matter) the HR to delete manually, with your file browser all the programs that you have installed at your storage card. You can find them at the ''Program Files'' folder. Then ofcourse you must install them again.
3) I am using PimBackup to Backup everything I want. Give it a try.-

Android Market missing from G1

My Android G1 was rooted, but it bricked. For some reason none of my backups worked. Thinking that there was a problem with the SD card I reset the phone to factory, reformatted and repartitioned the SD card, and started over. It looked OK, but it turns out that the Android Market is missing.
All of the purchased programs are lost. It also seems that you can't install most programs without Market being installed. When I tracked down and tried to install vending.apk it tells me that it can not be installed on my phone. After some research it seems that you also need gtalkservice.apk, but when I try to download that I get the same error.
I do have a copy of the original working SD card on my computer, but I can't figure out what to move over to recover Market.
I can't imagine why Google would want to make it difficult to restore Market to the phone. The phone isn't very useful without it. Please, if anybody can HELP it would be greatly appreciated.
Have you tried flashing a stock ROM? I don't think restoring factory settings is going to bring back any system files you have deleted, unless there's an image somewhere on the filesystem.
its sluggish naa...

[Q] Big problem! Need help!

Hi. I was going to update from Elegancia 1.4.3 to 1.4.4. As usual, I make a nandroid backup before flashing. And also backed up all my apps.
After I took the nandroid backup, I syncronised my phone with HTC Sync to save my contacts, pictures music etc. Then I deleted one of my old backups, since I need a little more space on my SD card. I had around 3 GB.
After I deleted it, now my phone says I have 1,2 GB. Everything on my SD card is gone, then I mean pictured and music, also rom manager keeps FC, Titanium backup wont give me busybox checked (got premium installed)
I also can't get my pictured and music back when I sync my phone with HTC Sync..
WHAT IS WRONG? And why does it say I have 1,2 GB left on my SD card when nothing is on my phone anymore. It does work, but this is making me frustrated..
Nothing wrong with the phone, run smoothly, but it is just the thing I have mentioned that irritates me.
Thanks in advance.
By chance, did you delete everything using an Ubuntu or other Linux computer?
If so, the trash files could still be there. You can fix it by remounting the SD card to the computer and emptying the trash.
If you did this through the phone or via Windows....then I dunno.
But you could always try saving the contents of the card to a computer, formatting the card from within the phone, and copying the saved files back. That might fix you up.

[Q] SD Card folder deletes itself

All I did was plug it into my pc, copy a music album into the music folder, unplug it, and the whole sd card folder vanishes. I tried going into the TWRP recovery and then trying to look for the files using the file manager but no, everything is gone. My phone settings are alright though.
Now I'm a beginner to Android, does the TWRP folder that was located in the sd card folder contain important files? That folder is gone too. Basically I want to know, apart from the media and photos lost, are there any important files there that is essential to my rooted phone now or when I need to unroot/flash custom ROM/etc?

Interesting....... The TWRP folder most likely doesn't contain anything important otherwise you wouldn't be able to get into your custom recovery. The only thing that the TWRP folder contains is if you check "show hidden files" you will see a .twrps file. If you need to unroot and flash the stock firmware it will not be necessary. I would reflash the latest TWRP onto the phone just to be sure, you just never know about technology.

No this only replaces the recovery. The only way you can wipe your entire sd card is by going into TWRP---> advanced wipe and selecting internal storage or by going to "format data" and typing yes. This erases everything.
I find it strangely odd that just copying music from the phone to the computer took everything off the SD card I have never heard of this before. Don't be offended when I say this but you didn't select cut instead of copy did you? It will be ok though.
Good luck. While you might consider yourself a beginner, you have gotten this far so I wouldn't consider you that, far above what most owners of their phones are. If it turns on they are happy but we here at XDA don't think that is good enough.

Thanks. Actually I copied an album INTO the phone storage. I did not cut or delete anything from the phone. Guess it's one of the mysteries of the universe why it happened.
