For those interested in my current ROM, here you go.
Notes:
MD5Sum ff713c7f13afb3db4ce26a51a487940d
Weighs in at 62 meg
No bootloader, boot splash or radio included.
I recommend radio 1.58.25.17
With above radio, first gps fix took 1.5 minutes
Removed all the AT&T junk software & games, jbed, RealPlayer
Removed MS Office apps (I only use/accept ISO Standard docs like PDF)
Enabled HSDPA & Icon , no service icon problems (no X)
Left AT&T service settings
Left in MS Voice Command since its hard to find
Vers 1.6.19214 MSVC works better than 19209 on this rom
No HTC Home, use a cab if you like it so much
Screen doesn't turn off when you wake it up like other ROMs
16meg page pool
Removed Themed dialer skins (I use the non themed dialer)
So far all my apps & SIPS work (iGo8)
Internet works consistent on AT&T, even when set to disconnect after 1min
Bluetooth file xfers work fine, just reboot phone after you pair first
I just realized that "Show SIM Contacts" has stayed disabled, cool!
Graphics benchmark: 1588.25*
Known Issues:
File system cache is disabled by default
Security is not disabled (you get the not certified warning)
Install KaiserTweak or AdvancedConfig to adjust above settings
Its the best** ROM I've used to date.
Use HTC Rom Image Editor to add or remove files to your liking.
4Shared Download
Ps: V1-V3 were failures
* I didn't really benchmark the graphics.
** Best: Meaning everything works decently, not as fast feeling as L26Vx Roms though.
Tip:
Heres a setting that I'm starting to enjoy: I set my data connection timeout to 1 minute using AdvancedConfig (Schaps), then set the "Connection Established" notification to sound a "bink" (Quietest) AND my email is set to retrieve every 15 minutes. That gives me an audible indicator that email is being checked, and to expect a possible voice announcement. Also, when I don't hear the "bink" I know now that I left an app like Opera 9.5 running, which keeps the data connection alive, consuming more power. Its like a heartbeat to let me know that I'm running optimal.

Downloading now. Let you know what I think. I'm a big fan of lite roms.
I dont normally post requesting anything, I just search and find it myself, but.......I cannot find the radio you are using. I've looked everywhere I can think of, and cannot find 1.58.25.27.
Thanks

Thanks, but I've found the NEON radio 1.58.25.17.
But he posted about 1.58.25.27. And I've seen several different posters with 1.58.25.27 in they're sigs, so I figured it couldnt be a typo. Is there a 1.58.25.27?

Fast ROM! The only "bug" I've encountered, and it's more of a customization thing, is that the security is not disabled (you get the not certified warning), therefore my UC did not run correctly. So now I've installed all my apps, and sync'ed with exchange, and everything is running great.
I dont use HTC Home, but SPB Mobile Shell 2.1 is running as fast as ever.
I'll probably stick with this for awhile.
Thanks for your time!

Busted! Yep, I think I copied/created the same typo that everyone else did early on during the frenzied excitement of ATW disclosing that the radio worked. My device information applet clearly says 1.58.25.17.

After running so many cooked ROMs, I was startled by the warnings at first. Then I realized, man, I have to play catchup and create an archive of tweaks to apply to new factory ROMs. So I let it go in hopes I can find a bunch of other useful tweaks, which, if we collect here (before 19215) I'll make a new version of this ROM.
FWIW, I favor lite ROMs for the purpose of debugging. I'll be posting an Add-Ons package with all the apps that I install. If there were more releases done like this, folks would end up with just what they wanted.
The whole HTC Home & IGo8 bug is such a thread waster as every ROM thread deals with the same applications issue over and over. The two apps don't work together, there is no fix, get over it!
I realize some folks like the "batteries included" ROMs as it saves them (theoretically) setup time. I seem to still spend hours getting my phone just right
Where was I going with this rant? I need coffee.

Neither did I! This ROM was born while comparing your V9b1 against the stock 19214 AND while playing with the ROM editor due to my dislike of HTC Home. It just so happened that I created a ROM that I actually liked!
I'm looking forward to running a lite version of your next ROM after the bugs are squashed, as I do enjoy the speed of your ROMS.
Long term I just plan on passing feedback to you and use your ROMs

Hey Roto,
Been playing with this for about 2 hours now and I am really impressed. It is a clean, fast, stable AT&T based Rom that I can customize to my liking. It is so clean and fast I don't know what to load on it
Edit: This is a keeper

Roto- Thanks for taking the time to cook this rom.
Does iGo work? just kidding!
Don't know how you feel about benchmarks and I do not believe anyone has posted a 19214 bmark other than the vid-only gxmark (1588 anyone?)- Anyone attempt a more comprehensive test like SBP benchmark on this rom yet?

Exactly! I've gotten zippo out of comparing the benchmarks. When someone does shoehorn in new graphics drivers, then we'll see the big jump. As far as OS benchmarks, its pretty much bound by the cpu speed and whether theres any other apps running. +/- %5 isn't even discernible. I read once that in order to notice a performance change, the factor has to be equal to/greater than 2x.
I love this. No HTC Home crap. I always disable it to put in WP and cnetx face contacts.
I'd run SPB benchmark, but it apparently requires a windows computer. I'm content in saying it feels frickin snappy.

The only tweak I made was to enable HSDPA. If file system cache is disabled by default, lets add that to the list of fixes to do. I didn't pay attention as I ran though AdvancedConfig to setup my own defaults.

Thanks for the great work!
it ilooks much better to use Opera Mobile instead of Opera mini,
HTC youTube is nice
but available memory is low!only 16.29 mb fresh booted.
Also Network time and time zone synchronization are not working.
Jbled Java is not function.
Many bugs need to be fixed.
Basically, it is useless ROM

I'm not trying to start anything with anybody, but saw this post and have seen it in my threads before.
I know how it feels to spend countless hours cooking and then getting one of theses.
Folks,
This is one of the main reason why I'm retiring after my current release.
Every cook spends a lot of their personal time creating a rom for users to enjoy.
There is no perfect rom, creating or wanting to create a perfect rom is like a pipe dream.
After seven releases I still have not been able to create the perfect rom.
Every rom has issues, but as long as the developer is working on fixing it, we the users should give them some time.
Let them know what's wrong with their rom and let them resolve the issues.
If for some strange reason they are not willing to fix it then making comments of this nature would make sense.
Main point,
Try the roms, post your review, but please try to use words other than worthless.
Thanks,

Agreed with tony. Cooking isn't an easy job and I know this. Just to master the porting and some basic skills, you need quite sometimes. Then every build has their own issues. We should appricate someone cooked a rom for us because it take alot of work and time (for free). As long as he the cook providing support, it's should be ok. Otherwise, don't use the rom.

Hi ttran001
Thanks
That was actualy what I tought when reading the post "why botter cooking"
I bought my herald only so I could use it for cooking.. this is my hobby and I cook for 5 other devices too and the main purpose of this rom is to show that all of the apps from Opal can work on other devices.
I don't want to retire from cooking but it might happen if there is no need for my roms.
but I wan't let this coment stop me because I know there are problems and always will be bugs.
even M$ and HTC are to blame for some of the bugs (sometimes all the bugs)

I've been using ttran's OTP7 series roms, so that explains the splash screen.
BTW - I'm loving some aspects of this ROM. The HTC YouTube is so much nicer than the YouTubePlayer that I had installed before. And the Opera browser - although a bit much for the Herald to handle - is pretty sweet too. HTC YouTube even plays pretty well over T-Mo's Edge network.
Question - do you need to have the Opera browser installed to get HTC YouTube to work? Or would it work with OperaMini as the browser? Just curious.
I gotta say, sometimes the phone gets real slow and laggy and I have to soft reset. Also I get a Windows Media unknown error 0x8000FFFF when I try to play a video taken with the phone camera (while in the viewer).
Well I'm sad to say but all the ROMs I have tried in the past couple of weeks haven't worked for me...
The story of my ROMs experimentation starts with T-Mobile Vario III and T-Mobile customized ROM. In short, like a worst nightmare! New version of T-Mobile customized ROM, nothing happened, everything was exactly same as with previous version.
Then I finally decided to try couple of WM 6.5 ROMs which worked like a charm but WM 6.5 is beta and half of the stuff in it is unfinished... Back to 6.1...
Than: HyperDragon (a few variants), shifu, Paradox, AthineOS, TPCExtreme, Ultimate-X... Mostly SuperRam ROMs... Hundred of pages in topics, dozens of fixes, black screens, restarts and so on... Applications that I don't need, folders confusingly organized, startup and bootup screens that don't fit to one business phone, black background icons (what's wrong with WM icons with transparent background) and so on...
Currently using stock HTC ROM and it works. It is sluggish but my device doesn't restart and I don't have to install at least 5 programs or fixes to make him work...
My question: Can someone point me to ROM that works without reading through 100 pages of topics and installing fixes for stuff that should work like notification and volume control? I use my Kasier as a business phone and primary e-mail reading device and I can't afford for my Kaiser to be offline for couple of hours (not to mention a day) and don't have time to read thousands of posts of "how-to-fix".
What do I need? Messaging (SMS and e-mail with notifications working), Opera, iGO, working Volume control, Bluetooth and jog wheel to be able to quickly quite my device if in a meeting or to change the volume of speaker when in a call.
I don't mean to disrespect all the chef's around and I do appreciate your work because for most of people around here you make their Kaisers work the way they should work!

I totally agree...
Anyway, if you look at the way PDACorner organized his post, you'll see that on post #2, there is a list of known bug with links to all fixes... This is really a way of organizing things that I personnally like very much and can save you from reading 1000s of posts for getting the info...
Flashing is for those of us who want to make our phones perfect, the best Apps, the best speed, the very best function and style. We don't mind a little work to or reading to get them " exactly " the way we want it.
I have worked at getting My phone perfect ( also a business phone ) and it is. None of the problems that you seem to think are inherent in every cooked rom.
You sound to me like the stock rom type not the cooked rom type. Do it HTC's way and stick with the stock rom.
There is a huge difference between stock roms and cooked roms. Stock roms are meant to work flawlessly, without bugs and without too many additional software. The default configuration will work, will (most likely) not crash, but won't do anything fancy either. It might also be slow at times.
Cooked roms are made for those who would like to experiment. People who don't mind a crash now or then, and don't mind to reflash every day/week/month (tick the one that applies ).
If i would use my phone for business purposes i would probably stay with the stock ROM or flash a stable 6.1 ROM, like PDACorner's.
Nevertheless there is no such thing as a perfect ROM. Every ROM has it's advantages as well as disadvantages. Live with it; Windows Mobile just isn't a perfect mobile OS, while doubting the fact any OS can be...
I switch ROM's on a regulary basis. Basic functions always work, no matter the ROM. I flash because additional features work better/faster/more stable on certain ROM's than others. But this requires some of your time, to flash and set everything up again.
The fun is that all of this is up to you. If you like to experiment, then flash as much as you like until you find something you like. There will always be certain flaws where you will have to live with.
There is no such thing as perfect ROM! Always remember to keep flashing and keep reading!

Read, my friend. I said they are meant to work without bugs and work flawlessly in a default configuration. You won't hear me say that they always do.
Nevertheless the stock ROM will in most cases do sort of everything the way it is meant to be. The change of finding broken application links or errors from mortscript i.e., is pretty small, if not none. And if these errors do appear, you've obviously bought a phone of bad quality.
This said, i'm not using a stock ROM myself. In that case i wouldn't reply to this topic. I'm someone, just like the rest here i suppose, who likes to switch to the newest, even though the quality might be worse then what i've had. But i'm always in for something new, which you might not be if you're using you phone for business purposes and do very much rely on the call quality, for example.
It's simple really either you stick to stocks or you become a flasher @ which point you will flash untill you find that ROM that you know can be used every day and still carry on flashin to try find a new better ROM if you don't like or got bugz you flash back to your every day ROM......
If it all seems tooo much and your a person who can't problem solve "read" and also put in the time to set up device as you wish then a stock is best bet.

Hey guys
Ok so im up for upgrading my p4350's rom but id like to use the phone on a day to day basis. Can anyone please tell me what the most stable rom currently is. Another thing, i dont want useless apps ill rarely use.
Been looking at roms by gullum and aserg and they look good but i want to know from people who have tested alot of roms in the past. As this is my first (and hopefully) only time i will be flashing i want to make sure i get it right
Thnx

Flashing by SD Card or are you plan on using the RomUpdateUtility?
Also, please make sure you are HardSPL'd..
I tried many roms, but none of them can shut them down.
Who can tell me how to shut it down. not sleep
An one thing is how to turn vibration of when I touch OK or win button on the screen.

Hi thanx for the swift reply
Im planning on flashing via the USB cable. I am going to hardSPL as soon as i now for sure there is a stable rom out there that i can use.
Ive downloaded thanhy25's Clear Rom Win 6.5.1 Build 23071 - V2 and im thinking of installing soon. Good idea? bad idea?
another problem is that my ipl is only 1.02.xxx but as far as i know i can upgrade it to 4.xxx yang or something the like.
Any suggestions?
I'm looking for the exact same thing. The lack of space has been driving me crazy, I'm constantly at around 1MB and the only thing that's installed are some Spb applications. I'm looking for something very stable because I don't want to flash it all the time (I hope I'll have to do it just this once - I want to minimize the risk of destroying it, I don't have the money for a new one ). It currently has Windows 6.0, SE CE 5.2.1238 (Build 17745.0.2.3) and I can't remember the last time I had to soft reset it or had any trouble with it, besides the low memory. I'd like to find a stable ROM with enough free memory, but not completely without programs.
The things I mostly use are phone and messages of course, email, office, alarms and timers, camera, IE, WiFi and Bluetooth, weather forecast, ActiveSync, WM5torage, pdf reader, Total commander, Google maps, MSN Messenger... I'd also like to find something like Spb stuff to make it more practical to use, and to be able to play audio and video files, some other browser besides IE would be nice, gmail client, IM client that would work with both MSN and gTalk (I used Talkonaut at one time), to install games without problems (to have .NET framework, Java, Flash and such)... Some nice skin would be nice, but all in all I'd rather have stability than good looks. Is there a ROM that would be similar to this? What version of Windows would you recommend, 6.1, 6.5?
How complicated would it be for me to cook my own ROM? Is it worth learning the process just to make this one custom ROM? Also, is there an emulator which I can use to try out different ROMs before flashing them to my device?

Try JustStablev2b5micro. It gives you almoust 30MB free Ram. I use it with SPBMS 3.5.3 and I have around 22-24 MB free memory. But you must be HSPL I think.
HardSPL isnt an issue. I prefer it inface because i wannt to permanently flash the phone with a new rom.
Uhm what is SPBMS 3.5.3?? Sorry im a noob when it comes to this
Any idea where i could find this JustStablev2b5micro
Thanx alot
So far my fav is the TribU2U Version 3 w/Titanium [Build 28232] - Although I turn off the titanium interface and run the basic homescreen with my fav apps.
Having the new WM 6.5 interface is much better then old 6.0 look and feel.
I think that with any ROM you have (custom or official) you need to softreset about once every couple weeks... just to keep it running smooth.

Hey, izzy, try my newest ROMs out. I think you'll like them. And don't worry, if you don't like them I have that other ROM on file still.
Link to this rom?? =D
I'll give it shot tomorrow morning.

As this is my first (and hopefully) only time i will be flashing i want to make sure i get it right
Thnx

I can suggest this rom. Aserg is my favorite as cookes stable and efficient roms. I have tried many of roms listed in this thread. I suggest to read all replies in order to review user experiences.

I have been searching for recommendations on custom roms and since I am new I do not know if they are up to date.
I have heard of manial 2.5 and 2.1; but do not know what they are.
Also I heard there are custom roms of 6.1 and 6.5 but what is the difference?
To install a 6.5 rom do you need the 6.5 stock rom or can you do it from 6.1 stock rom?
I want performance, stability, speed, web browsing, and landscape slide out usable along with so it will work if I turn the phone and all sensors usable.
I am wishing to getting a head start since I am getting my Sprint CDMA TP2 in a few days. Any TP2 users here that think this phone is good and had it for a while?
NRG (aka EnergyRom) is probably the most popular ROM, i've been using it in various iterations since 12/09. It works well though Sprint picture mail can be problematic at times and I've been unable to disable HTC's texting/sms app (It can be ridiculously slow when you have a long conversation). 6.5 is a little more touch friendly than 6.1 but it's not a huge change. I use NRG's rom with sensity and CHT v2.0(cookie home tab which increases home screen flexibility). XDAndroid is also very nice (I'll switch permanently once they get the headphones working)
I have used nrg rom and have currently been using the superrom.
It's bare-bones and very fast. I had to add some of the .cab's that
i wanted but they are really easy to find. Phone has only frozen
on me like once and i have a large amount of text messages stored
on the phone.

I have tried about 15 already and have just decided 'Mighty Rom' will be sticking around. Very fast and stable it seems.

I hope it doesn't have the same flaws as energy rom. I think I will stick with the stock Rom first. Can you list me any internet, text, calling, landscape mode, sensors, physical keyboard etc. any other possible flaws it may have? Is it wm 6.1 or 6.5 layout?
Can you link me to the most up to date mighty rom thread and original maker?
The HTC messaging problem and sprint picture mail problems aren't ROM specific. HTC messaging can take 20+ seconds to load when you've got a ton of messages(it doesn't affect the web browser or email), you can bypass this by clicking all messages before replying to a new text (this opens the default text client rather than the HTC one). There are fixes that are supposed to bypass HTC messaging entirely but they don't seem to work.
The sprint picture mail problem is due to sprint picture mail not really sending pictures but instead links to pictures (you have to install arcsoft messaging and some other files to make it work). Sharky's rom may not have this problem (since it was developed specifically for sprint) but pretty much any other custom rom will.
Sounds like you already got your answer! Try my ROM Check my sig. for my PPC Geeks thread. Seeing as how that site is more geared to CDMA, that's where all my ROM action is.
Are there any other roms that are made for Sprint winmo 6.5?
How much memory RAM does your rom have on boot up sharky?
I just today noticed on stock I am unable to send/ receive text messages but can call and browse the internet. Problem happened after a few installs like flash lite, nfs shift, resco explorer, and maybe sktools cleanup has ran and broke it. So I plan on moving on to a custom rom.
Do any custom roms change radio? Because I HOPE NOT. I don't want an SAR change lol. SAR level change will be bad.
in refferance to sktools clean up.......you have to be carefull what you delete esspecially in the invalid registory entries and values mode......i usualy leave that alone unless i no for sure what i am deleting wont affect the phone.....and also just go to your file explorer/mydocuments/regsrybkp and restore what was deleted....
I couldn't find registry backup anywhere.
got your reply my friend..get back to you in a few hours...
ok...i am no expert...ther are a lot of smart guys in this forum when it comes to ppc's...thumbs up to them...what i no about this is experience because i have deleted 100 things before i learned...i no that if you use the registry cleaner in sktools it will tell you that things are invalid and so on....when they are actually valid....why, i dont no...but first check to see if back up deleted entries is selected to yes.....in your sktools program under tools menu go to settings...then scroll to invalid registry entries and at the bottom of that list you will find that option...the same for invalid registry values...if they both are yes then everything you deleted should be in your files program under 'registrybkp'....mine is under 'mydocuments'/'registrybkp'.....and if the deleted entries are there just tap on each one and they should automatically restore...and last, if for some reason you dont have any backups then a hard reset would be my advice to you.....i hope that helped .....good luck and just keep going by trial and error!
MR.X ROM! is super fast but you cant send picture mails

I'm not allowed yet to post outside links, so you'll have to search Howard forums for this:
Touch-Pro2-Tips-Tricks-amp-Registery-Modifications
I have maybe a dumb question. What does a cooked ROM give me, more functionality and features or just cosmetic modifications?
Thanks
All of the above. More stability as well. Phone rarely freezes to the point where it needs a hard reset and also no screen of deaths.

Is there any way I could get manual or at least a list of features for each ROM?
It's either on the rom forum page or you check the rom out yourself. Usually the original poster in the first post will list a list of features and give pictures for their rom. If you have any other questions, feel free to ask and don't forget to thank me if I helped.
