GPRS Data Sharing Question - HTC Tornado

Earlier this week I reflashed my T-Mobile SDA from WM5 to WM6. Most everything is working but I cannot supply Internet access to Google Maps and MS Live Search when using T-Mobile's "WAP" access with Proxy.
What works: Edge GPRS service with Internet Explorer and Pop mail.
Also works: Internet Explorer, Pop mail, Google Maps and MS Live Search when Wi-Fi is enabled (or using USB attach to PC)
QUESTION: Why can't Google Maps and MS Live Search access the Internet via Edge GPRS when Internet Explorer and email client can?? Thanks

cinimod1000 and others found the answer involving Two "T-Mobile Data" settings and two Proxy settings. Worked like a charm using these setting. This will allow virtually everything to work with the $4.99/5.99 T-Mobile Web Plan. I tried IE, email, Google Maps and MS Live Search. Everything is great !!!!

Gmail Java App Broke

With the past couple of roms I flashed, I cannot get the GMAIL Java App to work:
Heres my setup:
Esmertec Jbed Build 20070802.2.1
Newest Gmail Java from web.
I run it, enter user name and password, hit sign in and then it switches to the inbox view, theres no messages or anything and it says:
0kb Loading...
Then switches to 1kb Loading and I get the following Message:
Network Unavailable
"This program requires a data connection. Please contact your carrier, or visits the gmail for mobile FAQ on your computer for more info."
I have Opera Mini 4 (Java) installed and that works fine.
My ATT plan includes unlimited media.net. I have "fixed" the "My ISP GPRS" connection to use: wap.cingular, and the username to [email protected]
All other internet apps work fine.
Any clues or suggestions?
Thanks,
Rich
It's not your settings. Gmail does the same thing for my phone. When I directed to gmail.com/app using PIE, it displayed my phone as an LG U500? Something like that. Maybe that's the problem.
Using Google Maps, everything is fine.
Navigating there with opera mini, however, I never get to download anything. It just keeps redirecting me to the website seen on desktops, not mobile phones.
So anyway, yea...problem with the application, maybe?
Well the wierd thing is that the JAVA GMail App worked for me like 2 weeks ago.

Live Messenger + T-zones help needed...

So I got my shadow and knew I would have to configure a proxy in order to allow the phone to access the internet without the total internet plan. I have been using the t-zones in this fashion for a long time (teathered laptop, PPC etc). I searched for the proper settings for the proxy on the shadow and got it all entered in. Pretty much everything seems to be working now except the Live messenger and the other live services. I've got opera, and all the other messenger programs working so I don't understand why Live won't. Is there another setting that I am missing or is is just blocked by the Proxy? I'd appreciate any help I could get with this. Thanks!

Gmail MIDlet and GPRS proxy...

I have done some searching, and have not found anything that really answers my questions. I have an HTC-P4300 and am using the Jbed MIDlet manager (same behavior with TAO). Opera Mini runs great and works fine through the system set GPRS (Edge) proxy. As expected, it also works fine when I have my connection set to "My ISP" and connected via WiFi.
My problem is with the Gmail MIDlet. It works fine in the later configuration using WiFi. It can't connect when my phone is configured to use the proxy (port 80) with GPRS. From what I can tell the MIDlet should only need http and/or https access. I can log into gmail using a browser without problems. I assume there is something going on behind the scenes I don't know about... What am I missing? Shouldn't this MIDlet be able to work with a proxy?
Any help would be wonderful! Thanks in advance and have a GREAT day!

same is happening with me
Well, I haven't found anywhere that will state it directly, including on Google's help groups, but I am guessing their new java app uses IMAP to connect to their servers. In short I don't think this will ever work with a proxied network connection. That is a true bummer!
Anyone have their old MIDlet laying around I could try? Thanks for the help!

x7510 - Is it possible to make the system autoselect the best connection?

I am having problems with the x7510 which I have not had on my Tilt.
Problem 1 - related to email:
For every email account, during setup I am asked to select the one and only internet connection that will be used for the email account:
Edit account setup -> next
E-mail Setup (E-mail address) -> next
E-mail Setup (Your name ..) -> next
E-mail Setup (Incoming mail server) -> next
E-mail Setup (Username ..) -> next
E-mail Setup (Outgoing (SMTP) mail server..) -> PRESS ADVANCED SERVER SETTINGS LINK
Now the software wants me to select ONE and only ONE internet connection for this email account.
Every email account on the x7510 has the same behavior (even the Outlook Exchange Server) and I have 3 email accounts on this phone.
problem 2: related to HTC weather screen
The weather screen will not update the weather unless I am connected to a wifi (802.11) link. It will not update using the data link through my cellular phone provider.
problem 3:
Opera browser seems to be telling all web sites that I am a mobile phone so I get only the huge cartoon letter web pages. I would prefer to get standard format web pages - that's why I bought a 640 x 480 screen.
NOTE: This did not happen with the ROM that was in the phone when I bought it (browser showed full-featured web pages), only after I flashed the ROM below from the cmonex sticky.
Questions:
Does an app or registry fix exist that will let me tell the x7510 to use the best data link that is available, preferably by rank? In other words, show me a list of all available data links (Wifi, Bluetooth PAN, MEdiaNet) and let me rank them in order of my preference of use rather than forcing me to slog through 5 levels of email setup to change to use wifi when I am at home in a cellular dead spot and the re-slog through those menus when I am on the road out of range of wifi but with a good 3G signal? Is auto-select such a tough thing to implement?
Also, how do I adjust the link that HTC weather uses to get its data or is it hard wired under the hood to only use wifi?
And lastly, how do I make Opera stop telling the servers of the world that I am running on a 320x240 web enabled phone?
Thank you for your help,

I found a fix for the weather
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=363417
Is a fix for the weather.
The new HTC Home screen has a smaller clock at the top and a different layout but at lest it downloads weather data over the cellular network.
If I find fixes for the others I will update as needed.
Thanks,

Weather Fix
The site below has instructions with pictures on how to fix the weather problem. In a nutshell make sure "This network uses a proxy server to connect to the internet" is not selected under settings and connections.

I have had to mess with this twice because of switching sim cards while traveling.

No connection to Market

Hi,
I have a trouble with my Transformer (B70 SKB v2, therefore not ROOTED !)
I'm unable to connect to the Market on my Work network. Everything works fine at home where I have a private network. I'm able to connect, surf, and market works like a charm.
The problem is in my office where the network is a 802.1x EPA network. I can connect to this network using TTLS for example.
Surf is OK,
Access to the market via Opera and https is OK,
BUT when I lanch the Market application I have : "No connexion : Retry"
I also have trouble because I can access my google Agenda, but no modifications are transmitted throw the web. Update are only done when I'm at home.
Kindly Regards,
Olivier
I have to add some information.
The problem seems to be linked to https connection.
I don't know why, but if I use Opera to browse my google calendar web page via an https connection, everything is Ok, but I CAN'T use both Dolphin Browser or the native Web browser of the tablet, I always have a "No secure connection".
Very strange !
