MSN Messenger - JASJAR, XDA Exec, MDA Pro ROM Development

Hello,
when i try to connect with the MSN Messenger network, the Messenger uses the GSM connection, even when i have activate WLAN. When i deactivate the phone, it uses the wlan connection. Is ist possible to "say" the MSN Client to connect over the WLAN connection?

Connect msn messenger using wap ???

Hi , Anyone knows how to connect msn messenger to the internet using wap ?? ( or Agile messenger ) ; The socks4 port 1080 seems to be blocked , but all web pages can be displayed , ( maybe there's a tunnelier for PPCs
Thank u
did u install the msn messenger patch for windows mobile 2003 ?? with out that patch you cant connect msn messenger.....its available on microsoft website.....download it from there if you dont have it....
regards
jeetz
Msn connects without the patch!
What we need to is to use the Http port to let us connect the msn from the wap, which we can't! Unless we use web messenger. So is there a tunneling software for the ppc?
Any better ideas ??? Heeeelp :?: :? :?:
i connected my msn without the patch before upgrading my rom version from 1.60 to 1.72. But now after upgrading I cant connect it says cannot connect try again. although i can connect other software like skype
any help
IT'S NOT A PROBLEM WITH THE MSN !!!!
it's with any messenger that uses the 1080 port that is blocked on wap connections :!: :!: :!: :!: :!: :!:
Hi
I think as Xeon said, u can't get it to connect because the port 1080 (which is used to create a Socks connection) is blocked.
I tried all other available third party programs that connect to msn, but they all had the same problem here in Lebanon.
You can use : http://mob.e-messenger.net/mobile/ ... I use it and its fine but u can't really chat to more than one person at a time...
hi,
well i installed a small patch from microsoft website for msn ppc and it is working fine now. tested on vodafone and virgin pay as you go.
thanks
It's not a matter of PATCH !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I DONT'T WANNA HERE ABOUT IT ANYMOOOOOOORE !
Xeon, Prozac is very cheap on the internet, maybe you could get it in a patch instead of a pill.
which ports are blocked could very well be different from celloperator to celloperator so maybe a patch will work for some
but if the ports are blocked then it require tunneling where a server on the internet service all (who it likes) recieve their comm on that wap port
and redirect the comm to the normal port
and recieve all comm from other msg and redirect that comm to the wap port to the user
but then it's also required that the msg program let you change the port it use
and i have no info about there being such a server
so who knows ?
do you need a contract sim to use messenger?
for the ones who want to open their msn using wap gprs , here are some websites that offer you this serivise...

Using Voip on Internet of Host PC with ActiveSync

Hi!
When I have my PDA connected to my PC using bluetooth and activesync, I can use the Internet connection of the pc directly from my PDA. For instance I can launch Mobile IE and visit a web page.
However I cannot use the Voip function of my PDA. The Today plug-in shows 'No service' status for my voip configuration (if I connect to Internet using WiFi, Voip works).
In the beginning I thought that ActiveSync only allows port 80 (HTTP) access. However I can also download or send e-mail messages using POP3/SMTP which use different ports.
Do you have any idea if I can also use Voip over the Internet connection shared by activesync?
Ha ha, good attention, however estimate should be be subjected to limiting of.The Voip used when Voip perhaps can'ted use "unit constitution"

I assume this is down to the NAT implementation on the Host PC and/or Windows Mobile 6.x not actually allowing this anyway - the PDA to PC uses the autoconfig IP network 169.254.0.0/16, all connections from the PDA are proxied via the host PC. I have just captured the traffic flow using WireShark from the host PC out (i.e. not the PDA to PC link) to see what is sent when the SIP client is started (Internet Calling). I can see the initial DNS lookup for the SIP server host (in my case 'sip.btsip.bt.net') which gets a valid reply, however there are no more packets transmitted from the host PC.
If I capture on the PDA-to-PC link (USB) I can see the DTPT protocol (DeskTop PassThrough protocol) which although WireShark understands it isn't very intuitive. I can see a 'QuerySet' with the DNS name embedded (sip.btsip.bt.net) but there is little else.
I really don't think ActiveSync is capable of doing this and to be honest I don't think the Windows Mobile is even trying. I have captured several conversations over WiFi when I first got the SIP client working and the conversation I am seeing here is nothing like them.

Vodafone + wap + msn = AAAAAAAAARGH!!! :(

does anyone knows any program or configurations for chat on msn with vodafone wap connection?
I tried with nimbuzz but it does'nt works.
thanks in advance!!!
and... sorry if someone asked before me... but I didn't found any post
I have the same problem, Can someone help me?
tks
You can forget about using MSN over WAP...
The WAP protocol is fundamentally different from the TCP, UDP protocols that the MSN app requires...
Get a regular dataplan (not WAP), and then you can chat over MSN from your PDA...

Not necessary.
In France, my mobile provider opened a special WAP connection with less port restrictions (SL2SFR for those who know it).
I advise you to write somewhere youre proxy parameters and then delete any proxy on your wap connexion configuration.
If Messenger still refuses to connect, reenable the proxy, you will have to find a special wap connection
You can use beejive for Windows Mobile (Beta) with a Wap connexion.
Or you can also visit http://wap.tjat.com to use any messenger you'd like
