I was wondering if you can get different covers for the phone like some other phones, you can change covers.
I have seen the different vendors have there own colours, but do any one sell them.

You might think that phones and parts sold by Chinese eBays Sellers are identical to the real thing. But before you buy anything, please read what I have to say.
Part 1
Section A, Rejected Inferiors or Chinese Reproductions
Sellers pay a cheaper price for inferior, defected, or discarded parts so that they sell it to you at a higher price. This issue is most prominent when you pay for the replacement housings. They might even be custom made replicas.
Defects of inferior or replica parts include:
*Screws don't fit properly
*Clips don't clip in properly
*Housings don't fit perfectly
*Pieces are too big or too small
*Embedded modules are missing
*The paint-job is inferior
Seller Issues Include:
*Seller sent the wrong color housing.
*When you receive the set, the color from part A (keypad-brown) does not match with the color from part B (housing-black).
*Visual representation does not always completely match the actual product.
Section B, Refurbished Parts
Summary
Sometimes sellers even use old parts and repaint them with a new color. You will notice hard-to-find scratches on them or hard-to-find signs of wear. If you pay for these, you paid for refurbished or restored housings and parts.
Defects of Refurbished Parts Include:
*Used parts and housings
*Custom painted when advertised as OEM painted
*Parts are not painted where not noticeable (such as the back of a battery cover)
Seller Issues Include:
They will not admit that the item is used unless you intimidate them
They will not admit that the item was a custom product unless you intimidate them
Please do not buy from these sellers.
*Take note that housings with pre-attached electronic pieces are a pain in the ass. Basically you have are screwed if the module is glued onto the original housing. To remove it, you have to be careful or else you will damage it. In my case, I had to cut off the glue that attached the LED flash module for the camera. Then I had to super glue it back to the new housing.
Then the housing didn't fit properly because the slots for the screws were not deep enough. So my housing wiggled. I had to solve this buy using shorter screws or buy shortening the real screw with a file.
Then a piece of the housing broke its snaps because the damn snaps didn't fit properly.
Then you will learn that only the inferior battery cover will fit with the inferior housing. The original battery cover will not fit in the housing at all because...sigh..the original cover is shorter.
I am telling you, these housings are defects either 1) discarded by OEM or 2) replicated by the Chinese or 3) sold as Refurbished but marketed as Never Used.

Anybody come across any sites that sell full housing yet in different colours? Galaxy S seems to be very popular where i live and would like mine to be different (not just with a case).

I think it just will make your phone fat. I'm using invisible shield. Already have for half year and phone did not scratch at all. I know they're expensive but they worth every cent.
Yeah invisi sheilds are one of the best about IMHO and worth every penny.
Last phone i modded was a blackberry bold 9000, and made white before blackberry started producing other coloured ones. Hoping that someone will produce the same sort of full housing for this model at somepoint

Not after a hard case, i am seeking the housing. I do not want to add extra bulk to the phone (i have a hard case already and they are good if you are in conditions if you feel the phone maybe susseptible). The housing is the full housing of the phone so would be battery cover, screen surround etc.

well the good thing about me being korean background is that I get to access the market place in korea for the phone as it is very popular like iphone to the states it be safe to say sgs for the korean market and other after market accessory.

Check these sites out I personally got a white battery cover and mine is the only white covered SGS^^!! As for purchase? enquire direct to website or get a korean friend^^;;; Make sure you add "h" in front of the addresses.

Battery covers will be the path i have to go down if i cannot find the full housing. As you say you have a white battery cover you have half the phone in white. With a full housing the surround of the screen and walls of the phone would also be white.

I was pondering a source of cheap replacement case bits for our phones, when I thought of those fake demo phones you see at cell phone stores. They have lead weights in place of their circuit boards and a sticker for a screen, but some of them use the exact same case parts as the production models do. So on a hunch I bought one of the dummy Sidekicks off of ebay for $5.

Turns out that while it bore a striking resemblance to the real Sidekick, every single component of it was made special. Some factory in China had made castings of the Sidekick's parts, then modified them for simplicity and reproduced them using a nasty cheap plastic. They all have enough differences that not a single one of them could be re-used in our phones.
Oh well, was worth a try.

yes mostly all dummy phones past 2007 dont use actual housing parts.
I refurbished a Palm Treo 700wx with a dummy phone and was able to use all outside housing, it did have some different points like some areas where thin or the antenna metal was missing but all fitted.
but i think even if it used real parts they are mostly molded from prototype models
I'm wondering has anyone found any of those battery door replacements that have any kind of design on them? Instead of a one full colour that there is loads of. I haven't seen them anywhere and thought it would be a nice idea!
Just for clarification I mean the ones that replace the back of the phone and have a door on them, with or without S-View. I know they don't offer any protection, but I don't drop my phones.

I am trying to find a replacment back for my S4. I have the black version and I really like the color of the front but not the pattern on the back. I would like to find a replacement that matches the front without the pattern. I have found some some various ones, but I cant tell how closely they match the front. I was hoping that some one has purchased a back like this. If anyone has, let me know where you got it.

There are a hundred of them on Amazon. Just read the reviews for each.
The common answers you will see are that aluminum plates look really nice but kill the radio signal and NFC signal.
For the plastic ones they come in every color of the rainbow. Some fit great, some don't. But they are usually like $1 so if one doesn't work, just try a different one.
I spent quite a bit of time looking, which is why I came here. I was hoping to see if someone else has already gone through the same thing. It seems to me like there are a million aluminum backs but not very many plastic ones. You are correct that they are fairly cheap, but with shipping and everything they are on average around $5. This does add up after a few, and I would rather not have a stack of unused $5 backs sitting around. Its fine if it doesn't exist, I just figure I would see. I trust peoples real experience over pictures and descriptions.

The real people feedback from Amazon is the best you're going to get on the internet. In 10 years it's rarely let me down.
One backplate I can guarentee will fit perfect are the colored varients for Verizon, Sprint, and AT&T. Sprint as a Purple S4, At&t has a blue one and a red one, and Verizon for some strange reason, has a brown one.
On the actual colored phones the front is purple, blue, or brown as well. But the backplates are colored as well and are stock Samsung. I got a purple backplate on ebay that was made for the Sprint varient. Works great. Looks awesome. Cost me like $8 with shipping. They are not available on Amazon. But they are readily available on eBay. Make sure it's from a US based seller and that the picture shows the SAMSUNG or carrier logo on the back. Otherwise god only knows what you're getting from en ebay seller.

Veirzon probably brands their as well but I didnt' look up the brown one.
You get the idea....
The only catch is that they have the same checkered pattern in the color that the black one you have now has. But it's not as noticible with the colors.
Or you can get a stock white battery door and it won't have the pattern and will be plain white.
The 6 pack on Amazon fits extremely well and has solid black. PM me If you want mine. I wanted the Girly colors.

these match the pattery pretty well. i have the purple and blue ones..
it doesnt look exactly like the picture but the pattery on the edge of the picture.
