I've set up my GPRS settings correct I think, because my internet works, but I I never set up my MMSC settings. I'm running a tmobile sda, but I upgraded it to WM 6. I recieved a picture message from a friend and i cant seem to find it, even though it says I have a text message. I'm wondering if my settings are messed up. What is the correct way to set up MMSC, and GPRS. Oh im on A&T (cingluar)
These settings seem to work for me:
Create a new MMS message and select "0 Options -> 4 Message Options" open the menu again and select "1 MMSC Settings"
Name: ATT MMS
MMSC URL: http://mmsc.cingular.com
WAP Gateway: wireless.cingular.com
Port: 80
Connect via: The Internet
Max sending size: 300K
WAP Version: 2.0

Upgraded my c600 to WM6 using karhoe's excellent guide. I now have no MMS folder. Are SMS and MMS now combined in WM6 or do I need to download cabs to get it to work. I have received a MMS and can't down load it but not sure why. It appears in my SMS in box.
Any help appreciated
In EA ROM, the SMS and MMS are separated, did you upgrade your ROM ?
Yes followed your guide to the letter but now only have SMS and email after selecting messages from the menu. It doesn't mention MMS and I can't find anywhere to check MMS settings in connections or any other menu!!

After my Upgrade I don't seem to have MMS working at all, messages sent stay in the OUTBOX and I'm not receiving them. Without any MMS settings options I can't figure out how to make this work !!
HELP
I Hit this problem but have now solved it....
In WM6 (Perfect English Rom and Vanilla ROM's) MMS is now integrated with the Text messages and giving it the correct settings to get it working isn't that obvious, the MMS connection settings are buried under the menus.
You need to firstly set your GRPS settings according to your mobile network.
Start > Settings > Connections > GPRS
then you have to set your network's MMS settings..
Start > Messenging > Text Messages > New > MMS > Menu > Options > Message Options > Menu >MMSC Settings > Menu > New
If you need your GPRS and MMS settings then contact your operator or have a search of this site's forums, or look in this thread I use o2 in the UK and this is what I have...

Sorted, thanks very much
I can't find the UK vodafone settings in the right format anywhere! The one's above for O2 are the right headings just need the info for vodafone. Anyone have them or point me in the right direction???
This utility may help you.
Thanks Nitrogenious installed and it completed the settings as described. We are making progress, I can now send MMS but cannot download them. I rang vodafone and my SIM is MMS enabled I also asked them to check the settings. The c600 confused the hell out of the girl who thought it was a Samsung!! Never heard of HTC, anyway a couple of settings were wrong but she said if I can connect to the internet via GPRS then I should be sorted. I can connect to the net but cannot download MMS's anyone any ideas????
Seems like every time I flash a ROM, my APN settings won't allow me to send/receive MMS. Does anyone have a setting that works?
My following set up (Which is default):
Name: ATT
APN: wap.cingular
Proxy: Blank
Port: Blank
Username: [email protected]
Password: CINGULAR1
Server: Blank
MMSC: wireless.cingular.com
MMS Port: 80
MCC: 310
MNC: 410
Authentication Type: Blank
APN Type: default,supl,mms
APN Protocol: IPv4
---------------
I am currently using Ninja ROM, and if you have configured the APN settings to have MMS work, please share the settings.
I have searched everywhere and nothing. Even asked in the Ninja thread, and the only response you get is "Oh, mine works...". That's basically a F U. Not helpful responses.
Thanks.

Not sure if you mistyped something, but the MMSC field is not supposed to read: wireless.cingular.com. Make sure it reads: http://mmsc.cingular.com
Also, your Proxy and Port fields should read:
Proxy: wireless.cingular.com
Port: 80
You don't list your MMS proxy field, but it should read: wireless.cingular.com
If the above changes don't fix anything, then let's try breaking out your MMS connection into a separate APN. Use this method (from my APN thread):
Standard warning applies here: as always, before making any major config changes be sure to fully backup your ROM. If you mess up real bad or something goes unexpectedly wrong, then you might permanently lose your connection with no recourse other than a complete restore.
Step 1. Delete all APNs
If you're not already at your APN screen, then from your home screen press Menu button --> Settings --> Wireless and networks --> Mobile networks --> Access Point Names
Press the left side of your 1st APN to go into the settings of this APN, then press Menu>>Delete APN.
Repeat this process for any other APNs you have. The goal is to delete all APNs so we can start from scratch.
Now do the next steps in the same order as below:
Step 2. Create a new APN (Menu>>New APN). Everything is case sensitive and must be entered exactly as below. This will be your 1st APN:
Name: MEdia Net
APN: Phone
MMS protocol (if applicable): WAP 2.0
MCC: (don't change this number)
MNC: (don't change this number)
APN type: default, admin, hipri (notice there is no space on either side of the commas)
APN protocol (if applicable): IPv4
everything else: <Not set>
Press Menu>>Save. You will now be back at the initial APN screen.
Step 3. Create another APN (Menu>>New APN). Everything is case sensitive and must be entered exactly as below. This will be your 2nd APN:
Name: MMS
APN: wap.cingular
Proxy: wireless.cingular.com
Port: 80
Username: [email protected]
Password: CINGULAR1
MMSC: http://mmsc.cingular.com
MMS proxy: wireless.cingular.com
MMS port: 80
MMS protocol (if applicable): WAP 2.0
MCC: (don't change this number)
MNC: (don't change this number)
APN type: mms, supl (notice there is no space on either side of the comma)
APN protocol: IPv4
APN protocol (if applicable): IPv4
everything else: <Not set>
Press Menu>>Save.
You will now be back at the initial APN screen again. Make sure the 1st APN (named MEdia Net) is selected (via the round radio button on the right side). Your data connection will drop for a few seconds.
We are done at this point. Let me know if this works for you. If not, it is probably a software problem in your ROM somewhere.
I've tried this method you've posted. First of all, thank you.
Now, after setting up both APN's, neither seem to work to get MMS to function. I am not sure why.
I will call AT&T next week.

Hmmm, well at least we gave it a shot. The dual APN config should have worked for you, as it's the same as what comes on the stock ROM. I suppose one last thing you could try would be to get your phone back to pure stock and see if MMS works then. This stock RUU is located in this thread. It is an executable file that you run on your PC, and it completely wipes the phone, unroots it and brings it back to factory stock. If that doesn't work, then maybe your account isn't allowing MMS or something. Good luck either way.
I know it would work on stock, and stock rooted. But with any other ROM I flash, MMS won't work.
Again, thanks for your help. Its no deal breaker, just wish it would work.
I had the same problem I had to change the radio/ril back to stock to get it to work

I did that too on Ninja. And since I'm running Ninja ROM on mine, it seems its only able to use Single APN's.
I don't know.
Rooted phone which outside of the dreaded search but works fine. Today I was using the CM 7.1 RC trying to send a text and it did not send. I got the Red Triangle error. Recovered to a rooted stock 2.3.4 and still not able to send text. Doesn't look like the area I live in has a problem so I have to assume my fingers wandered and my brain can't recall. Any ideas???
Rooted -
CM 7.1RC with 2.3.4
OR
Stock with 2.3.4
Carrier -
Telus
Cheers
I apologize for my ignorance but what's the red triangle error?
Sent from my Nexus S MV from the XDA Premium app.
No worries I should have realized that one can get a Red Triangle elsewhere....flashing? My situation is my sms/text app is not able to send using the network. No problem receiving .My feelings is the phone has got a wrong setting so it's not being able to get on the network or is being recognized for sms/text messaging. But being a noob I well aware I could be totally out to lunch too ;-)
I checked my Telus Text Messaging Manager and -
Service temporarily unavailable.
We are currently experiencing technical difficulties.
Try again later.
-----
Their support is closed at this hour some here's to hoping that's the issue.
Btw to the rooter's and modder's, thanks for all the cool tools and resources for the Nexus S. Lots to learn like a PC and I'm having fun

EDIT: Can you send texts with data shut off and on wifi only?
Make sure your SMSC number is correct:
Dial *#*#4636#*#*
Select "Phone Information"
Enter the SMSC number into the blank field: 1-647-580-0172
Hit refresh
Search around the web to makes sure that is the correct SMSC number if the one I gave does not work.
When did this start happening? Did you change to WCDMA only etc.?
If this doesn't work you could try a complete wipe and install stock ROM.
You can also try checking your APN setting but I think this will only affect MMS.

Not able to send text with either
Make sure your SMSC number is correct:
Dial *#*#4636#*#*
Select "Phone Information"
Enter the SMSC number into the blank field: 1-647-580-0172
Hit refresh
You have the right SMSC number. The blank field doesn't retain the 1-647-580-0172 after hitting refresh
Search around the web to makes sure that is the correct SMSC number if the one I gave does not work.
When did this start happening? Did you change to WCDMA only etc.?
I had changed to GSM only instead of GSM/CDMA.
I notice beside GSM Disconnects it says -
DATA
State: DcInactiveState disconnected with last try at 3:59PM fail because No Error
If this doesn't work you could try a complete wipe and install stock ROM.
:-(
You can also try checking your APN setting but I think this will only affect MMS.

Have no MMS protocol setting
APN type is default,supl,mms
Has a APN Protocol setting that's set to IPv4

You could try downloading Anycut and look for the shortcuts in Activities, Phone info and try switching to something other that GSM only that way instead of using the dial pad.
Answered with the help of Telus tech who reset my SMSC OTA. The SMSC field I was looking at was found using *#*#4636#*#* and once in at the bottom of the page where there is a Update and Refresh button.
Wasn't able to get the SMSC field to take the 1-647-580-0172 number which is what they use. But when he did the OTA reset using that number it came up as 07916174850071f2 in the SMSC field.
Many thanks to all who helped as this was great experience for me.

Ah, right, had to convert the SMSC number to hex. Glad you got it working.
I tried CM 7 on my infuse and really like it but can't seem to find an apn setting that works right for me. Default apn settings web browsing works but market says no conneciton retry. With the APN settings that were posted in the new to MIUI thread in general my market would work great but when I tried to browse the web it would say webpage blocked. So I was hoping I could get some folks who have CM7 running on their phones to post their APN settings for me to try out.
Thanks in advance.
This is working great for me...
4G(H+) speeds won't knock your socks off, but it's perfectly good for daily use.
Market, Browser, GPS, etc. -- Everything works consistently
I created a NEW APN (named AT&T), and left the two original ones alone
(password is CINGULAR1)
Fixed it myself for anyone who is interested the APN settings that finally worked right for me on CM7 were:
Name AT&T
APN: WAP.cingular
Proxy: Leave Blank
Port: Leave Blank
Username: [email protected]
Password: CINGULAR1
Server: leave blank
MMSC: http://mmsc.cingular.com
MMS Proxy: wireless.cingular.com
MMS port: 80
MMS protocol: WAP 2.0
MICC 310
MNC 410
Auth type blank
APN type blank
I dont have an MMS Protocol in my APN settings...
I upgraded from Cyanogenmod 7 to 9 and am loving it, except for one issue.
For some reason now whenever I receive a MMS it won't autodownload and when I click download it says "Couldn't download message (Unknown subject) from Unknown sender." Anyone know how to resolve this?
SMS works fine.
When I try sending an MMS I get an error saying "Unfortunately, Messaging has stopped."
I'm not sure if this is related or not, but when I receive SMS I get a notification, but when I go to the Messaging app the thread window doesn't show any new messages. I have to click on the thread for it to show. (So I can't tell which thread it was in)
I hope someone has an idea that could fix this.
