Hello! What is G3 & G4?
Is it the model of Universal?
How can I know?
Thanks!
Put your Uni in bootloader mode (Power button+Light button+reset) look at the screen very carefuly. The screen will be dark. On the bottom you will find the bootloader version. If it is 2.01 you have a G4 device. If it is 1.01 your device is G3. There are some older versions with bootloader 1.0. These bootloaders can be upgraded to v 1.01 but none can not be upgraded to v 2.01 because of different hardware profile. Method of upgraqding to 1.01 from 1.0 is given in wiki.
G3 and G4 are two different versions of memory chips
Thank you Thank you very much!!!!!
how to upgrade?
mine one is V1.00, how to upgrade to 1.01?
and any big different?
i havent upgraded mine to 1.01 and everything seems to be ok so far when flashing roms. some say that upgrading to 1.01 makes your pda more brick-safe... hehe!

many thanks
upgrate to bootloader 1.01
Hi I have bootloader 1.00 & have tried to upgrade using the rom in the wiki
the upgrade seems to go ok but after reset & putting back into bootloader mode still says 1.00
Any ideas??
Yes, same problem here. It should actually upgrade to 1.2, if I got it right, but not matter how many times you reboot and upgrade it's always a round 1.00...
OK, I managed to retrieve the forum page where a link to a working upgrade to 1.01 was posted...pfeewww...one really needs to work hard to find things among one zillion and half of these posts. Please forum admins take a note: the bootloader upgrade in the wiki (apparently) does not work. The following runs like a charm:

Thanks ! and...
i think that this post should be made sticky or at least get into the WIKI !
hi folk!
I'm a definitive newby
My bootloader seems to be a v 0.48
do you suggest me to upgrade to v1.01 or there might be some problems?

Dear brother,
could you recommend me how to open CID unlock for dopod 818 pro?.
I had search at XDAwiki but there isn't have literature for G4 Type.
Do me a favor for this problem?
Thanks in advanced.
From all the information that I could gather here is that you can not CID unlock the G4 type of Prophet yet.
Yup, cannot CID unlock the G4 yet.
Although there is a website that offers a service to CID unlock the G4. Guess it's only a matter of time till it's possible for free too. But how long that takes noone knows
But yesterday,
i saw thread in pdamobiz forum that mention can be upgrade or downgrade dopod without unlock the CID..is it possible?
I am not the expert here, but u can upgrade with the NoVendorID.exe Tool without CID unlock? u cant? i was sure u can...
also i saw a thread one said u can use the aWizard Tool to unlock, but i am not sure he was right, he said he did, but dont know i can belive u can use an old Wizard Tool for a new Prophet...
hope it will help ..

Again, you can not CID (country ID) unlock the G4 with software as of now.
The other questions of yours have already been answered in other threads of this forum, please use search and consult them first. New threads only make it harder for new people searching for the right threads that already contain the correct answers.
Nonetheless you can update your G4 with new ROM versions the Novendor ID version is one of these ROMs.
But you seem to have hard times reading whats written on these forums anyways, so it would be better for your to stay off of ROM updating if you do not want to brick your phone.
You need to read a lot of stuff (including searching) to understand what you should do.
The people who offer self cooked ROMs have quite a lot of technical experience and understanding what they do and they do it for quite some time now. You ca not simply take stuff from all kind of places pull it in your ROM and happily flash it. There is some sort of brain usage required to do this
Ok guys, I have been out of XDA for some weeks and coming back is not that simple.
I have a G3 with Jezter ROM. What is the latest stable ROM to put on my G3?
Is there a chance I could move on to WM6 without going brick?
I know this is a common thread on this forum but here I need your help.
Thanks
You only brick your device if the update contains only the IPL/SPL of a G4... If the ROM update only updates the OS there's no problem with it...
I'm using NB_Up_nghianga.rar ROM and it's been nice so far... I have a G3 Prophet.
Hi,
I'm and AT&T Tilt User and wanted to update my ROM for the first time. My question is, if I am planning on updating to an AT&T ROM (Dutty's or Alex's), do I still need to unlock the CID or is that only required for non AT&T ROMs?
Thanks in advance!
Read all stickies and wikis. Hard SPL before doing anything

nah bro, you're good.
follow this yellow brick road:

The two answers above contradict each other...
I did read the sticky first, but it wasn't fully clear:
"1: CID-unlock your device by following the instructions at pof's HTC Kaiser Hard-SPL v1 - CID Unlock & Flash any ROM to your device (4 free)-thread
This needs to be done to flash a ROM to your device which is not created from your provider (or HTC if you own a device with HTC branding)...."
Now, the 2 responses I received above also contradict each other, so now I'm still unclear.
Yes - you MUST flash HardSPL before flashing any ROMs for the Tilt/Kaiser/TYTN II. The quote you talked about means - if AT&T released a ROM upgrade, you wouldn't have to have HardSPL to utilize it. Any other ROMs (cooked, stock HTC, etc.) require HardSPL to be flashed first.
Follow the instructions in this stickie. The others linked above are only if you should have problems. Make sure you've read the wiki and all the stickies before you start flashing. Good luck.

The Orange UK ROM you downloaded is likely the one I put together from a dump of my device when I first had it (also from Orange UK). It is missing a radio as at that time the radio version that shipped on my device (1.27.12.29) had never been released and was not available from a dump.
However, that seems to have changed now and you can download the 1.27.12.29 radio ROM from the wiki;
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Kaiser_Radio
This, combined with my ROM rebuild, will give you an Orange UK TyTN II as it was shipped. Orange UK are shipping later radio versions these days, however using my ROM and the radio linked above will give you an original shipping setup equal to how my phone arrived with me on day one.
EDIT: the link for that radio appears dead (boo!), so 1.27.12.32 is the closest match currently - that should give you a working device with sound etc. I assume you have sim unlocked this phone? If not, you will need to do this before flashing this radio.
many thanks
i will give it a go and let you know how it went. i have had the phone unlocked i paid orange for the code. many many thanks
THATS ME
Thanks Every One Thats Me Got A Working Orange Uk Rom.
No Issues At All With The Phone Thanks.

Hi, Ive got an Orange TyTn 2 and I find the keyboard often misses out button presses, so I find that a space or a letter hasn't appeared when I get to the end of the sentence. Does this happen with your TyTn 2? Cheers

Try disabling xt9.
EDIT: this post isn't really ROM development related. It's general at best. And it seems to be getting off topic.
The OP was the good old, I have no sound on my Kaiser, which is an older problem than me and has been asked a million times before.

I Am The Same Thats Why I Opted For A Dutty Or Alex Rom Orange Is A Pain. My Son How Ever Wanted His Back To Orange. He Said He Liked Duttys Rom But When He Hard Reset He Had To Keep Instaling The Cab Fixes Which Anoyed Him Lol .
Hi,
Looks like HTC have released a ROM upgrade for my phone, an HTC Touch HD. However when I put my serial number in it says that the upgrade is not suitable for my phone. Is this because my phone is Orange branded? Will it work for my phone? Is it worth it?
Thanks, Jamie

If your phone is Orange branded, any updated roms will come from Orange.

Welcome to the forum
Why a ROM upgrade if here you can find cooked ROMĀ“s that are much much better than the official ones!
Enter to Blackstone section ad you will see
And read here for instructions on how to unlock, and flash a ROM:
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HTC_Blackstone
Enjoy!
You always have to get the rom upgrades from your provider as branded roms are usually locked
