Data Crashes - HTC Tornado

After flashing to a new ROM - WM6 the phone didn't boot the WM6 installation. Instead the old Orange logo appeared and entered in bootloader mode. I tried restoring the ROM from the original WM5 ROM (Orange RO) but it said Not Allowed. Ok... I flashed then a Cingular WM5 ROM and it worked. The initial logo changed and the OS booted. Immidiatly after the Windows Mobile splash I got a message "Data Crashes. Contact service center". If I remove the SIM card the message dissapears. I think something got screwed during the first flash since it didn't go through. I mention that I used the same ROM to flash another C600 phone and it works perfectly.
So... now I can boot up Cingular WM5 and play around with applications, but as soon as I insert my SIM card the Data Crashes message appears. It is my guess that some vital information such as the IMEI got screwed or a checksum somewhere is not checking.
Do you have any ideea how can I fix this?

You didn't superCID did you?
Sounds like you screwed over your GSM section, check with the SPV Services client if it can read your CID/SIM-Lock status
Phil

It was probably that... but to my knowledge I ran lokiwiz.bat.
No, SPV Services can't read the info from my phone - Illegal readZone attempt - RAPI init failed

this means your phone was not application unlocked properly..

Right! Now spv-services works.
When clicking on the SIMLock Tools I get phone unlocked 00000000000000.
When clicking on the CID Tool I get:
Current CID: 0800313131313131313100000000000000000000000000000000000000000000

cool. Enjoy!

Ok, now try flashing WM6GSMUPDATE and then a WM6 ROM and it SHOULD work
Phil

I flashed the WM6GSMUPDATE and then the WM6 ROM and it still doesn't work. After flashing the WM6 ROM I get returned to the old ROM's bitmap with Cingular logo and then the bootloader appears. Any ideeas? Can you give me a direct link to the latest WM6 ROM? Perhaps mine is somehow damaged although I succesfully flashed another C600.
Thanks.

Any ideas? Please?

Is there any way to fix the "Data crashes. Please contact your service center." problem using a HTC Tornado?

Htc Sda T-mobile Is Dead
MY PHONE IS DEAD WHEN POWER UP ONLY SEE T-MOBILE AND DEAD, THE PROBLEN I HAVE WHEN I try flash a WM6 ROM AND MY COMPUTER SHUT DOWN, NOW IS IMPOSIBILE TO ME TO MAKE A RESET OF THE PHONE YOU KNOW WHAT I NEED TO DO, THANK YOU AND I WAIT YOUR ANSWER

Can you get to the bootloader? If yes, then try flashing again.

8125 ROM update Problems

I have searched this forum but to no avail.
I have a Cingular 8125 running the 2.25 IPL/SPL it is SIM & CID unlocked.
I am able to flash the TMOBILE Radio rom no problem, BUT everytime I try to flash crossbow reloaded 1.5 and/or Faria's CROSSBOW it hangs at 99% and then faults out with an error code of 302 communication error.
My device then gets pseudo bricked and I have to reflash back with the Cingular rom.
Any ideas or tips?

Try starting the flash in bootloader screen. Turn device off then hold camera button. then push power button. Keep holding camera button till you see the rainbow screen
The usual suggestions - perform a hard reset, remove the SD card, make sure all other apps are shut down, etc, etc, etc.
Also, starting out with a good, strong 2.26 IPL/SPL ROM might help. It's been suggested many, many times to flash to the T-Mobile 2.26 ROM as a solid base before upgrading to WM6.

I have had the miniSD card out, I have shutdown all applications. I will try it from directly in the bootloader screen. As far as the 2.26 ROM I could not get it on my device, gave me an error as wrong Vendor ID.

My suspicion is that you are not truely CID unlocked. May want to retrace those steps.
Good luck!
8125 ROM Upgrade
Thanks to all for the help.
It turns out that I was most likely not truly CID unlocked. Redid it based on the post in this forums and VOILA. Worked like a charm.
Thanks to all on this forum for all the hard work and helpful advice.

Vox Update SPL (USPL) 1.16

Hi guys,
I've just implemented a Vox USPL which allows you to flash any Vox ROM updates, i.e. you can flash any *official* ROM even if your phone's model and vendor ID doesn't match. It's confirmed that you can also flash cooked ROMs
This SPL is based on original Vox 1.16 SPL but includes 3 patches:
1) g_cKeyCardSecurityLevel = 0 (set 32)
2) Does not check Model & Vendor ID
3) Does not check signature*
(*) code must be formally signed i.e. contain properly-formatted signatures on the right places, however no checking is performed against them.
This means you can flash ANY ROM to your Vox after running USPL on it, no need to pay for CID unlock anymore!
The USPL will *not* help you to SIM unlock your device. You still have to pay for that.
The USPL runs in RAM and is *not* flashed to your device, so there is no risk there. Once it runs you can run any official Vox ROM update utility.
The USPL does *not* permanently CID unlock your phone, like the CID unlocker from imei-check or so.
After you flashed a ROM your phone is again CID locked. Each time you wonna flash a ROM with a different model and/or vendor ID (different from your phone) or a cooked ROM, you must run the USPL again and then flash the ROM.
It's beta and untested and the risk is entirely yours !! Don't blame me if you brick your phone
EDIT:
You can now also flash the USPL allowing you to flash any unsigned (cooked ROM or ROM module, e.g. radio or OS) or signed ROM with any model/vendor ID. The USPL substitutes your SPL until you perform a full ROM update. Consider it as an extra insurance in case something goes wrong with flashing cooked ROMs or any other ROM update !
Instructions:
1. Run the USPL (Vox USPL- CID BYPASS.zip)
2. Run the ROMUpdateUtility.exe (Vox-USPL-RUU.zip)
Have fun,
JockyW
The attachments:
SDA_ApplicationUnlock.zip : application unlocker if u need it
mtty1.42.zip : terminal emulator (not neccessary if u only do ROM updates, but if you wonna play with the bootloader commands you need it)
Vox-USPL-RUU.zip: flash version of USPL (Note: you must first run USPL from "Vox USPL- CID BYPASS.zip" before you can flash it with ROMUpdateUtility.exe from Vox-USPL-RUU.zip !!!)
Vox USPL- CID BYPASS.zip : instructions included
Credits: in particular to pof. This USPL and also the one for Excalibur is based on his USPL for the Elf. See here
I think this is one of the most fantastic news of the century!!!
Finally some cooking can start on this little device.
Thanks again,
Ka.
noob question
what the difference between sim unlock and cid unlock?
This can be found in various threads around here, anyway.
SIM Lock - You can't use a SIM from a different provider than the one who sold you the phone.
CID-Lock - You can't flash your phone with a ROM which hasn't been cooked by your provider (or manufacturer for HTC unbranded phones).
Ka.
jockyw2001 great but make one for htc oxygen pls.
htc s710 - rom

anyone online right now wanna drop me a line about this... what do I do exactly with the ruu file. Do I place rom image in that folder while runnning update???
so i followed the instructions and executed the cid bypass(installed itsutils and haret). once i get to the end it says use mtty or flash with RUU. so I attempt to flash right after (am I supposed to flash while the screen is black) but its gives me a connections error. I figure its because the phone is off. So I turn it on and update with the RUU again but only make it to 3% before I get a invalid vendor id. Would anyone care to comment on how I can flash this vox to the dopod rom...

To the users who had the same problem as me I am currently flashing my phone and I managed to get past my problem by using the SDA Application unlocker on my vox. I always thought that HTC were already application unlocked. Was going crazy for a while but I guess I should've followed the instructions step-by-step regardless of what I thought.
Big up to jockyw2001(and of course pof for without him alot of us would still be using shipped rom) for this wicked tool.
Cheers

I only got this phone so I could upgrade it for a friend to stop the boot loop. It seems to have fixed that problem so I guess it's better than the other roms. On the other hand I can't stand smartphone's so my suggestion is to ditch your SP and switch to PPC . Also I read before hand that this ROM doesn't include Windows Live Messenger but it is included in the rom. Just thought I'd let u guys know.
input please
Just ran into another problem and would appreciate some input. I understand that USPL only works for one flash...but I wasn't aware that a hard reset counted as a flash. Regardless my device hung at the dopod boot screen after a hard reset. Is this normal after using USPL on a device, and if so does this occur with all devices??? I would hate to give a phone back and have to tell the person that they can't perform a hard reset...

If you flash a full ROM the SPL is overwritten with the one in the ROM (Dopod = 1.19). Nothing to do with USPL. Booting can take a long time after hard reset. Unplug battery and try again.

Thanks, I got it to work eventually...Good to know USPL doesn't effect hard resets, I guess you learn something new everyday.
If I had to take a guess before hand I'd figure a SP would boot faster than a PPC, but I realize now that I'd be wrong...
thanks to all for the help, I can finally return this Vox back to its owner
cheers
Hi
I flashed my E650 in French with the swissrom (present on FTP), all works !
an idea to change the logo operator to HTC original ?
thanks
thought I fixed the problem. seems as if after a day it just hangs at the dopod screen. It was working fine everytime I had it. As soon as I give it back it seems to hang. Guess ima just flash it back to the HTC rom, too much hassle for just $20.
why SDA_ApplicationUnlock.zip can't unlock my Orange SPV E650?
Successful rom flash done on a spv e650 on a sim unlock device UK orange

Stuck in bootloader solution not working need o2 rom

Hi
I have a Tornado in o2 IQ guise, it is not CID unlocked. When I turn it on I get the o2 splash screen before it goes into bootloader. I tried hard rest but that didn't work so I tried flashing differnt rom, which is how I found that it was still CID locked.
I have tried the solution at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=388109 to change .nbf header to match that of my phone but this doesn't seem to work Typhoonnbftools just spits out a 1kb .nbf file.
Bootloader reports:
IPL:2.00
SPL: 2.00.0011
Tornado 1U
USB is available and can communicate with the phone using TerraTermm Pro I have tried format BINFS but I'm told "not allowed operation". I really need an o2 UK rom to flash back but it isn't on their site. I looked on the xda-dev ftp but the rom on there is german and has different vendor ID.
Can anyone help?
Thanks

Need help with ROM - half bricked S710

Situation is like this, I was using newest 6.5 version but wanted go down to older, upgrade failed with message that file is corrupt.
Now when I turn on phone I see only HTC logo.
Hard reset does not work because as soon as I unpress softkeys logo appears.
I can enter bootloader and start upload but always 3% progress and not more.
upload from SD card does not work
bootloader (color bars) shows
ONBL 1.35.0000
SPL 1.35.0000
CPLD - 04
Code:
Cmd>getdevinfo
Device Model ID = V O X 0 1 0 1 0 0 HTCSVOX010100»S4HTCE
Cmd>
item is SPV E650 from Orange UK
I tried almost all ROMs from FTP but no luck, wrong VENDER ID
however this one
RUU_Vox_HTC_WWE_1.15.405.2_4.1.13.37_02.83.90_Test.exe
gave me INVALID MODEL ID
if you can cook something then please do !

First choice for branded devices is the original ROM, so you are lucky to get it and it should work. The Vodafone V1415 is device where no official ROMs are available and there you have to use the "Gold Card" method (search for this in the Forum and Wiki). This will put a special key in the boot sector of a (non SDHC) card (devicetype and card-serial dependent) which allows you to load ANY ROM from the bootloader.

if u get it to work then tell me how u did that... i really want to know!!!
i got fed up when that happened to me.
when the htc logo continues, it means u phone is hanged. and even the time clock of the cpu stops. after 5-10 minutes u can also see the htc logo flickering a bit!!!
if u have the same problem then u will have to give your phone to the service center.

simple
you load bootloader (via camera button method)
next you start flasher from your PC and upload ROM
trick is to find the right ROM because when your phone is locked you can use only dedicated one which is compatible with your operator
otherwise there is a magic described above
once again EOT

Did you lookup the Gold Card method? This WILL work - as this is exactly what the service will do. I am sure this is not a warranty case, but you maybe lucky.

yeah, i too think was not a warranty case but i gave a try and yes, i got lucky since this was the 6th time i gave my phone for a warranty claim.
OK, tired of trying new ROMs now? To be in the safe side you need to understand how things work:
1.) SIM-Lock (your phone is locked to a network/SIM Card) will stay even after ROM change. There are services to Unlock your phone and allow any SIM card. This has nothing to do with "Application Unlock".
2.) Application Un-Lock is the method to allow any program to run on your device. This is achieved by changing security settings in the registry of the WM operating system. Only privileged applications may do this - mostly "SDA Application Unlock" can do the job.
3.) Some devices are "branded" and the device carries a "Vendor ID" so that only ROMs can be put on the device where the ROM "Vendor ID" matches that of the device. Examples are: Orange E650, Vodafone VDA-V or V1415. This has nothing to do with SIM-Lock, even though many branded devices are SIM-locked as well (not VDA-V which I have one). The check for the Vendor-ID can be skipped either using a universal loader "USPL" (which is usually part of the cooked ROM distributions and called from a batchfile) or the "GoldCard method" which is your last resort and will ALWAYS work.
BTW: GoldCard is the slang for a special prepared microSD or miniSD card, not a SIM card! And it is NOT the process of loading a ROM from these cards - which is an alternate method of loading a ROM, e.g. if the Windows/USB is not an option.

does gold card method works with 4gb micro sdhc?
No it will not work with a SDHC card. The device in boot-loader moder seems not to be able to access the SDHC card. A normal (up to 2GB) card will work however - any size will do it as only the bootsector will get some bytes written to. The card remains usable - you can even take a card with data on it - writing the data to it to make it a "GoldCard" will not harm the data stored on it.
Mind that the key written is specific for a certain device-type, e.g. the Vox. It will work in any Vox then, however.

HELP - Up the creek -Cannot recover Vodafone Magic - stuck with MyTouch image

Hi there,
This article is very misleading...
h**p://theunlockr.com/2009/08/22/how-to-unroot-your-mytouch-3g/
I installed an ENG SPL and on my Vodafone 32B, all fine, flashed this rom as it stated it should work on almost any phone, it flashed ok BUT it put 1.33.0006 (Perfect SPL) and somehow my microsd got nuked. So I can start up the phone and get to the first time wizard, but because it's SIM locked to O2 I cannot login to google with my Vodafone SIM and therefore cannot install the flashrec.apk... I'm completely stuck. I can't goldcard as I can't get to ADB... I have nandroid backups and I'm borrowing someone elses microsd but I can't do flashboot (says now allowed) and I can't re-flash with SAPPIMG.zip it just keeps saying missing image or invalid.
Is there anything I can do?
*Slaps forehead very very hard*
Thanks,
Zas.
Ok, solved it:
h**p://***.mphone.co.uk/mms_wap_settings_vodafone.html
I added an APN for vodagone, got 3G then I could login. Hope this helps someone!
