TornadoPowerControl - keeps on reseting the phone - General Topics

Dear all,
i installed today tornadopowercontrol 1.4 all worked. However tried 2.0 beta version, and it worked for a while until the moment i started to play with automatic CPU settings. Now the phone keeps on restarting (Start Up file does its job). Is there a way to start my HTC S710 Windows Mobile 6 ignoring the start up dir?
Please advice. Highly appreciated

Ohh... that was easy
Connected a cable having SIM removed (startup is not loading, showing SIM failure message). But it fully syncs! So just browsed to that startup directory and erased damn file

Homescreen

HI. I´d love to have the s730 HTC home screen on my Vox. Does anybody know where could I get it?
Thx
Ditto that! I also have a 710 and would like the 730 homescreen/theme
Same here
We have tried to use the extracted files posted here earlier but it seems there is bunch of stuff missing...
Any new extraction or guidance would be helpful as well
The file posted here can be extracted : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=1732690&postcount=4
I've been able to use HTC homescreen on my vox but I can't get some things to work like the favorite people application and the weather part... In fact only the clock works
Unfortunately I don't have time to look further into it, but it shouldn't be too difficult for the geniuses out there
wont spb mobile shell give a similar home screen?
Isn't it only for pocket pcs ?
It´s done.
HTC Home Screen for HTC Vox :
Found in this Forum under HTC Tornado. Works fine on my VOX. Be sure to install to the device!!! when you install it to SD Card Phone crashes at boot.
Thank you very much Gregory for this great theme.
Truplaya
Edit: Seems the phone sometimes crashes when you insert the sd card. without sd card it boots fine... Maybe someone knows why and can fix this error...
Before downloading you have to notice that this cab can cause a crash and you have to hard reset the phone.
Gah. A hard reset is now needed all because of that cab above this post.
Total crash, stuck in reboot cycle.
A warning to others.
(installed to device, not storage card of course)
Update: Seems that the cab did something to the phone's MicroSD support. Or something. I can boot the phone without having the storage card inserted. Any idea what may have been changed? I'm guessing something in the registry, but not sure really.
Same problem to me schlinkey. But i can boot without sd card and insert it when booted. I added a notice above about the problem. Sorry that you had to hardreset your phone.
Did the Plugin worked for you when you boot without sd card?
I can take some screens of my phone (Vox) with HTC Plugin tommorow if wanted.
Took some pictures this morning.
It's alright, a hardreset now and then keeps the phone running smoothly
When I managed to boot the phone (without having the SD inserted) I uninstalled the plugin. The error remained however, so ended up with a hardreset anyway
All working again now!
Got it installed on my Vox now, currently uninstalling look alike themes and stuff that I no longer use to free up space on my phone now. Thanks for getting the New HTC Theme to work on the Vox. Just ned to get weather plugin working now. I've also got an annoying problem where my Vox with my T-Mobile Sim in says that I am Roming and the carrier plugin says thatI am connected to T-Mobile UK. I'm in the UK and using a T-Mobile UK Sim.

No problem with the Home screen, but I have had the reboot problem with the SD card for ages.
I did manage to get it to boot with the SD card in by doing various things.
When I first had the problem switching to flight mode before a reboot fixed the problem. The after installing some software it would only reboot with the SD card in if I first ran SK tools to clear duplicates in the notification list and selected a home screen which did not access the SD card (including the MRU list) such as "Windows Simple".
When I installed the Office 6.1 update the problem appeard to go away.
Then I installed Facade and so far have not managed to get it to boot with the SD card inserted.
I guess I could uninstall Facade - but I want to use it.
A Hard Reset is too drastic and I don't want to try that - easier to remove the SD card than to spend all day re-installing everything on my phone - no gurantee it will work anyway.
I suspect its a problem with the SD card driver as I have read that later ROM versions fixed the problem.

Sounds like you need Sprite Backup 6

I thought about that - not tried it - I assume it would back up all the registry settings along with the files.
But if I do a restore, I assume it would be back as it was before the hard reset, including the cause of any problem.
Although I suppose it might allow for some experimentation, with the ability to put things back to how they were before any changes were made.
Can someone who has used it give some comments on how useful sprite would be in these circumstances.
Hi all! Has anyone experienced the "My People" application stopping working after a while? After I installed it, it worked shortly, but now when I try to open it, the list flashes quickly, then disappears. This is from both the Home screen, and through the Start Menu. This has happened both times I've installed it. Any ideas?
Thanks!

Just now installed on my S620 Excalibur and seems to work ok.

Booting up Unspecified error

After I have flashed my phone with wm6 and then wm6.1 pro, sometimes just after disconnect from pc my phone just hangs up and when softreset (if power button is not working removing & reinserting battery) I got an error message "ShowError:Unspecified error". Then the phone doesnot shows up any network signal and contact list cannot be opened, simply phone is not working as a phone. After a no. of methods I tried including reflashing the rom, now I find some simple way i.e. just deleting the pim.vol file in the root of phone memory and softreset. But as it is a system file deleting it is not so simple.. sometimes it can be deleted easily so I have to terminate some processes etc. but I am not sure which actually one is working.
It is really a hard thing for me.. with a lots of sweating .. so if somebody know a better idea please share your knowledge..
Thanks in anticipation.
Ooops! sorry! it seems I am the only person who face this problem here.

Phone hangs due to not enough storage memory.

Hello, I recently have been installing a few more programs on my device (Windows Mobile 6). After installing a program, I got a message that said the storage memory was critically low, and memory had to be freed up. Whilst this message appeared, the phone also hung. Trying to turn it off didn't work, so I took out the battery and restarted it.
Not long after restarting, The messaged popped up again. It also hung when the message showed. So again I took out the battery and restarted it. Then problem is whenever I start it up it keeps on saying I have not enough free memory and it hangs before I have a chance to do anything. I've tried pressing the "ok" (close) button to try close some of my start-up programs as they start up but that doesn't help.
I have taken out the storage card and checked but I have 45mb free on the card, and taking out the card makes do difference - it still gives the error and hangs.
Any ideas?
the card is probably not the problem, the problem would probably be "not enough PROGRAM memory" which means you'll have to unload some start up programs.
which device are you using?
The device is a Dopod 838Pro. Here is a link I found on Google (a review) on it:
http://www.pdasreview.com/pocket-pc/dopod-838pro/
However I think it goes under several other names too, in some countries it's called a HTC something.
Noting that after starting up, after a while I get the error and it hangs, how do I unload some startup programs? Is there some reset mode, safe-mode startup or something?

ActiveSync/WMDC, Xperia X1, Windows 7 Ultimate -> No connection.

Hello people.
I recently reinstalled my Win7 and I wanted to connect it with my X1, but when I plugged the phone in for the first time, Windows started downloading some weird drivers (RNDIS?) instead just opening the device control panel thing. Now I'm pretty much stuck and can't connect my phone to my PC (I get the connection error sound every time), except for the disk mode.
I've serched for some answers here on xda as well as on the internet and all the fixes I found either don't work, are already applied or open up new problems for me.
Here's what I've tried already:
Rebooting PC countless times
Turning off the advanced network settings in usb to pc menu on X1,
Reinstalling WMDC countless times
Downloading some weird WMDC updates from microsoft download center
Configuring the registry (Enum key) - getting access denied error to everything I'm trying to do there
Opening the device manager in Windows - It's just blank.
About the software and ROM status, my X1 was just HR'd and I've installed just some basic stuff like the performance pack (Advanced Config + SKTools), MortScript and S2P.
I know that the problem here is rather related to PC, but I hope you guys still can help me, as I'm running out of ideas (and sanity).
Sorry for my english (not my native language), and please do help me if you can.
Same problem here.
So far I've been able to troubleshoot it a little.
First off RNDIS is the regular WinMo driver. So nothing weird there.
Secondly WMDC does work when you run the app as an administrator (on my end anyways). That is in no way a solution though... just a workaround.
I now need to pinpoint the part that needs the actual admin rights.
I'm going to keep on trying to find the answer and I hope more people will help.
Thanks for replying for my post.
Launching WMDC isn't the problem for me though. It starts up fine, it just doesn't connect with the phone.
Keeping fingers crossed for a solution, and thanks again.
I managed to get it started too now.
Again, as an administrator it runs all fine and dandy, but no sigar as a user.
So after I get it started no connection whatsoever. Still looking...
Got it!
Installed the drivers through SCCM at system deployment. Then WMDC installs perfectly.
It still wouldn't run though. And this was because of a policy which was enabled: WPD Device: deny read/write access
Enabling write access solved my problem.
hi henk!
I had the same problem.
I changed the policy, then win7 installed drivers for the xperia, it recognizes the phone, I'm able to navigate into the memory card...
But the wmdc don't see my xperia is connected, and if I try to transfer some music from win7 to my xperia, it's very slow(1b/s)!
Have you got any idea?
Had you the same slow speed?

[Q] cprog and device.exe errors, hot phone!

I've spent the last hour searching through but can't find a problem like this one.
I switched the phone off last night and when back on this morning it booted up OK except I had lost all my 'people' and had no contact list.
I rebooted again, this time it came up with a cprog.exe error message.
I rebooted again and it came up with a device.exe error message.
Another reboot and no radio.
Stuck in airplane mode and when you try to 'turn your phone on' you get the windows swirling dots then it locks up.
If I take the SIM card out, i can run wireless to the internet with no problems and the rest of the phone seems to function correctly.
If I put a SIM card in, the problems all start again PLUS it gets hot below and to the left of the sim card.
I have flashed the stock ROM from the HTC site but the same problems appear.
Apart from a few tweaks (thanks to XDA!) I've never really pushed the limits of this phone.
Can anyone please suggest a course of action to resolve the problem?
I really love my HD2, it feels like my lover has cheated on me...
I've tested it some more and it fundtions perfectly with the SIM card out.
I've used the SIM card in another phone and that works perfectly.
Has anyone had experience of a SIM reader failure?
Self help rules!
I renamed PIM and moved it to a temp folder.
A fresh PIM loaded and my problem is solved.
Full access to the SIm card and full functinality restored.
I didn't need to load a fresh ROM, I could have just renamed PIM and saved myself a load of grief.
Thanks for all the replies lol....
