does anyone know how to enable the "repeat" box in the sound and notifications especially for getting new messages or emails?.....
The actual box is greyed out so therefore unable to put a tick on this box......i did use a third party program called pocketmax phonealarm but this app stuffs up my notifications.....the options "vibrate when ringer switch off/on" are ticked but when i do a soft reset it automatically becomes unticked so therefore when i get messages or reminders the phone does not vibrate anymore.......but in phonealarm app i have set it to vibrate but it still doesn't vibrate......so i uninstalled pocketmax phonealarm version 1611 and everything is now back to normal and running smoothly but i still want the notifications to repeat so i dont miss them.....so does anyone know how to enable the repeat box.....thanks in advance....
i found the solution under this thread:

when my alarm goes off in the morning the "notification" has stopped popping up so i can disable it, I have to let the alarm go on for the entire time. How do i fix that irritating problem?
not to steal your thunder but i can't find a way to silence text message sounds as they occur.. any ideas?
OK, this is really pissing me off here, i cant stop my alarm now. it goes off and keeps repeating, i have to reset the phone to stop it. the "notification" window used to pop up and allow me to dismiss it or snooze for a selected periond of time.
First deactivate any alarms and go to settings/sounds & notifications and make sure that "notifications" is not selected, for now...
Then I sugest using "Check Notifications" program (google for it) to clean your memory from duplicated reminders and alarms
And then soft reset...
Let me know if that helped...
perhaps your problem is that under settings / sounds and notifications "notification" for alarm is NOT selected.. doesnt it have to be for popping up??
I have the same problem with the noticiations. I have to click them on every day. They turn off all the time. Any idea's
got it working, took what you guys said and put it together.
settings/all settings/personal tab/sounds and notifications/sound tab - then CHECK "events, programs AND notifications (alarms, reminders)"
then go to the "notifications" tab and go to the event drop down list and choose "reminders" its near the bottom, and make sure "display message on screen" is checked.
solved it for me, thanks for your help
I've done all that. My problem is that every day all my notifications get unchecked. Why?
perhaps you need to make those changes and then soft reset the phone?
other than that I have no idea unless your running a diff program for your notifications and it is conflicting with the stock notification settings
I noticed the same issues. Then, I switched to gAlarm and everything was better. It's a better alarm program anyway. Way better.
for some reason my phone doesn't vibrate even though its set to vibrate as i recieve messages.
anyone have a clue ? and is there any notification software i can default to ?
No real answers here i'm afraid.... but you can try this:
1) i assume the vibrate works? when you get a call/txt etc?
2) Turn off the vibrate for e-mails, soft reset, then re-enable vibrate, then send yourself an e-mail and see.
3) If that doesnt work, try editing the registry for the notification (again, set it to not vibrate, reset, then change to vibrate and test)
finally, as i have disabled all notifications for e-mail (i manually check mine when required & dont need to to prompt me as i'd be looking at it!), i dont know if it will vibrate when you get a new e-mail if you already have unread e-mails.
Good luck!
try this, it worked for me
"With a registry editor go to
HKCU/ControlPanel/Notifications
Go through the keys till you find the one for the new email notifications, (look at each key and check the "Default" REG_SZ). You will see an Options DWORD with a number like 5362464 or something. Change the it to anything under 13 (mine is 5). Save and close then go to Sounds & Notifications to set how you want to be notified and it should work.
You can also delete the AvailableOptions dword to enable all options in the Sound & notification screen.
Please use at your own risk, this worked for me but may fail for you."
thanks for the feed back , im about to flash nrg's 52209 build and then try the registry because the first suggestion didn't work :[ thanks anyway !:]
Does anyone know how to turn these off? I remember reading the advice on how to do this, and now I can't find it.
I get the audio notification, but then, I have to go and drag down on the toolbar to show notifications and then tap the one for the latest sms, even if I've already answered it.
I'd like to know how to NOT have toolbar (taskbar?) notifications trigger with every sms.
I think going into the app, menu, settings, notification settings, and checking "privacy mode" will get you what you want...
Hi..stupid question but i cannot seem to get my phone to vibrate whenever I receive a text or notification..can someone tell me where i can go to set this?
I tried going into settings, sound and display but i do not have vibrate as a selection in the notification ringtone tab.
Is there an app i can download that allows me to customize my sounds?
thanks!
the settings for notifications are within each messaging application. if you go to your sms application, hit the options button and go into settings. at the bottom you will find the notification settings, including vibrate and a ringtone selection. notifications for each of your messaging apps are configured this way.

Nothing you can do about that in android. Thats the default android vibrate for notifications. I think it sucks too, its way too short and too soft of a vibration.
What you can do is install SMS Popup. Go into settings on that app and enable notifications on it. It has more options for SMS notifications, like you can set a really long vibration. Just remember to then go into the Android messaging app and turn off notifications there, otherwise you'll get double notifications. This will only help fix the problem for SMS messages. I think android still sucks on incoming notifications for other items like emails, etc.
I REALLY like SMS Popup, its great.
whats the best custom setting. i am trying to set it so it virbates alot and i can feel it
I rooted my Verizon SGS3 a few days ago. Before rooting, I remember it was bugging me that it wouldn't vibrate for incoming txt msgs, whether in normal, vibe mode or silent mode. Then I found out I had to go to the messaging app settings, and under "Notifications" on the bottom there was an option to enable vibration for messages, "always", "only on silent" and "never". After I rooted, I never checked that again since it worked fine and I had vibration notification for messages. After root though, I did a few other things, among those disabled constant wifi notification with SQLite, turned of the wifi pop-up, installed volume+ to increase volume (which also added "music effects" under sound settings), and patched "audio_effects" (/system/etc) from inside root tools in volume+ (didn't backup original audio_effects file though).
Anyway, I just went back into messaging settings to change something else, and noticed under "Notifications" in the stock messaging app, there is no longer any option to change vibration settings. Is that something that is missing because of something different in the root /system partition (I used a fully STOCK root image by the way, then removed things on my own), or is it because of something I did after rooting? I just never checked under messaging settings immediately after root, so I don't know what exactly caused it.
If anyone has a stock rooted, or stock unrooted Verizon SGS3, please go to the main page in messaging, hit the menu button and go to settings, scroll all the way down, and post here what "Notification" options you have. I only have "Notification" with a checkmark, and "Select ringtone", I know there were more options before. If somehow I'm mistaking, would the vibration notification option for messaging be somewhere else?
Thank you
I have it in the Messaging settings page under Notifications "Vibrate". Make sure that you are in the messages list window where it shows all of your messages, and not viewing an individual thread.
Yes, I am in the main messaging window that shows a list of threads, not in any specific thread. That's the only window that gives you the "Settings" option with the menu button. I knew it used to be there.
So you have 3 options: "Notification", "Ringtone" and "Vibration"?
I just went back to the original Nandroid backup I made immediately after root, and vibrations is not available there either, so rooting must have somehow removed that option from settings.
Are you rooted or stock unrooted?
Thank you
