Is there anyway to change the settings or hack the today screens search engine which uses google to be able to use Yahoo? I hate google with a passion and get much more accurate results with Yahoo and Yahoo Local.
Thanks in advance.
today screen plugin
or - even better - yubnub.org....
Any ideas anyone?
which today screen uses Google as it's default? My 750 with WM6 from Rogers uses Yahoo or MSN Live as default, but I want google. I'll trade ya!
LOL Yeah I'd like to know how google became a default.
I thought Live Search bar was the default.
I had to use HTCustom to get google. :/
Ive been using this search bar which gives you a variety of search engines to choose from. http://www.gx-5.com/products/ultimatesearch/

Hello All,
I just had an idea on the way to work this morning..
I really like the HTC home theme, I use it on my Athena and it is great, I stopped using ultimate luanch as this does what I need.
I was thinking how nice it would be if I had some sort of home screen replacecment that would do this on my PC's.
Now I could set up a HTML site with like some Java or something for the animated clock, then set an active desktop but this would be LONG, I am sure it would give me what I needed though, if I find nothing else, I shall be doing this.
Just like HTC home, a number of tabs:
Animated clock
weather panel
applications
contacts
music player is pointless as I have so many different apps I use.....
Anyone thought of this, or even done it before?
Been done to death.
One of the examples.

Doesnt work though!
The site seems to refuse traffic.....
Samurize may help. Try this link:

Hi all,
I've just got a TD2 as my first WM device, and my first PDA since a palm 5 circa 2001/2. I can see that this will be very useful, although I'm not sure it will fully meet my ideals - see http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=514973
Anyhow, there are somethings I would like to get sorted immediately.
Firstly - BIGGER FONTS! I have adjusted the screen setting to the largest font but this really doesn't seem to do it form me. Certainly, the vast majority of system tabs and setting are still very small. If I could only adjust one thing though, it would be the font size on the text messages. The zoom bar doesn't work here - it doesn't work in a lot of system screens - which I think is a real shame.
Sat Nav - a have seen the mention of TomTom, CoPilot and Navigon from several source but I'm not sure which one to go for. I use a standalone TomTom a work and am very happy with it, but is this the best for this device?
Bar Code Reader - is there such a thing? I have seen an app someone posted regarding 2D dot bar codes, but what I would like is to be able to read standard striped bar codes.
Bar code reader would be nice, But isn't that only for Android?

Hi,
did you try that, there's already a Topaz version
and using it as a bar code reader is not its main function
but very smart application, have a look

Thanks for the link! I'll try it when I get back from school!
IS ther anything that will read simple striped bar codes, such as serial number - that's more along the line of what I was after
this will use your camera to take a photo of a barcode and then go online and do price comparisons: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=368798
oh and for a free GPS soluton that does turn by turn directions outloud (unlike GMaps and Liev Search) try AmazeGPS: http://www.fuzemobility.com/amaze-gps-free-turn-by-turn-gps-app/
I love the EVO, and the whole android notificaton system, but am shocked that HTC removed this feature on the EVO.
On the Hero,
when you got a text message up in the notification bar, it would show the message notification and then have a little number showing how much.
Obviously if you had one message their would be one message in the notification bar, and 2 or and so on.
however on the EVO, if you get 1,2, or 3 messges it only show the messaging Icon without the number in the notification bar.
It seems stupid that they would keep that feature on the hero with a 3.2 in screen, but remove it from the EVO with a 4.3 inch screen.
I know on the standard Android like on the nexus one or the samsung moment or droid it only shows the messaging ICON without the number no matter how many messages you have.
I really miss this feature, Is their anyway to install an .apk that would add that feature and fix this.
Weather
I have the stock weather/clock widget. And really do everything I can to save battery So i turn location and auto update off, However I am in the south suburbs of Chicago and I live literally on the borderline of 3 towns, It recognizes the one I live in but chanes frequently, I cant add custom small cities, Their was a windows mobile fix that did this for the touch diamond and touch pro, is their some similar patch that can be installed to add custom cities, or when we are in the city to set current city as default?
any help is appreciated.

For the messaging unread count, use Handcent SMS or Chompsms
you should have posted this in the apps and themes section. Just sayin...

Ehh, their are no apps that could really fix the problems, cuz both of them are HTC related, its more like hacking the app to allow it to set a zip code.
Erm, totally off-the-wall random question. Why doesnt the "Flip-Clock" HTC Clock widget... well.. flip? LOL I just thought about that. I really liked that feature.. back in the days. HD2 has it. >.> me = eyecandy freak.
Bump for customizable weather
Did a quick search, found nothing to answer my question.
I'm wondering if there's an app, specifically a 4x1 widget, that I can use to update my status on social networking sites. I'm not interested in reading other peoples updates (I'll go into the appropriate app for that); I simply want something akin to the google search bar.
So far the best thing I've found is TweetDeck, but it's far from the prettiest duckling. Before anyone mentions it, 'Simple Status Widget' is a ghastly, low-res pop-up.
If there's nothing knocking around then I guess I'll try my hand at making one
[EDIT] I should say that Google + is a fine, though not quite perfect example of what I seek. I mean, why give me a text box if tapping it only takes me to a new screen?
Hi,
since i updated to ICS there is no Buddy Widget on my Note.
Have anybody a idea to solve this?
Thx & Rgds
MyPass
Hey...glad i'm not alone with this, i also miss the buddy thing and can't stand the new one with the useless grey bar next to it.
That bar is even more useless cuz i don't use any social media platforms thus that grey bar only displays my contacts name, which i obvious already know...lol....
I found nothing similar in the market, nor am i able to use the old GB widget.
Been on it for a few days then gave up, so i'm curious if anybody has a good alternative or even better...managed to port the old GB one.
Seems to be we are alone ;-(
i´m still searching for a solution or replacement
Why don't you create a shortcut to your contacts?
Yes, the shortcut is possible, but the picture is only the half size in comparision to the buddy widget ;-(
