Problem with screen and installed software. HELP!! - HTC Vox

Hi,
After installing Tomtom software onto the device, I try to start the application, but the screen size shrinks and the middle is completly jumbled. Does anyone know how to fix this or what is causing this? It has happened with other software before, but I really want this to work as a GPS. HELP!
Thanks
John

If you have TomTOM MOBILE 5, you need TomTom MOBILE 5.2.
You can get the 5.2 patch from here:

TOMTOM 5 Problems with Magician

Hi, Im strarting this topic as Ive got a problem with my tomtom 5 and I wondered if anyone was having the same or could help me out  If anyone else is having issues they could post on this topic so we can bring all the advice and questions in one place.
Ok my problem, I had loads of issues with the bluetooth connection these now seem to be solved, now when I am using tomtom and either in a route or not the programme just closes for no reason it just goes back to the today screen. Ive reinstalled, hard reset and soft reset ... soft reset seems to work a bit but it still does it.
PLEASE can anyone give me any advice or are you having the same issues as me? one thing I have noted is that everytime I reload without doing a soft reset the tomtom Icon at the bottom moves slightly to the left next to the bluetooth icon.
Hope to hear soon
Thanks in advance
James :?:
I have the same problem as you, it sometimes works fine, then does the same as you. from what i have read its a software fault due to the device having a vga screen or something and from what i have read it can also be dwon to tt5 using all the memory on the device then crashing out etc. Maybe they will relase a fix for it soon?.
CHeers, Were did you read this can you post the link ? I have nothihing in my programs on the pocket pc and it still does it... ! looks like they've got an issue with there software ....
Hi Guys,
I have been having excactly same problem. Initially i had a lot of problems with bluetooth. Seems to have been sorted out, god knows how.
But out of no reason TomTom exits and brings me to today screen. If i click TomTom icon again it starts and exits in 1-2 min. Only if i do a soft reset that it works a bit longer.
I am using qtek 1.11 rom.
Hope someone can come up with a solution.
Cheers,
Vishal
The problem is with the POI file. That is a comun problem. You have to take the POI.dat file from a tomtom 3 map and put ir in the map dir in TT5. All working perfect now. The only problem is that it isnt so recent and dont have the phone option. But now works
Wait for a better crack to come out. Or buy it.

Windows mobile 2005 and tom tom backlight issue

Hi,
Can anybody help me, i upgraded my xda II to WM2005 and installed TOMTOM 5 but now whenever i run TOMTOM the backlight switches off. As a workaround i can change the backlight settings with TOMTOM running, but this is a bit of a pain as you have to do it everytime.
Thanks for any help

This is a known problem, just go on buzzdev.net, and make a search on this, you will find either the way to apply the patch or the patch itself.

TomTom + Dutty's 6.1 trouble

Anyone have trouble where the top most bar (the one with the battery & signal strength icons) locks up after running TomTom 6? The bar appears to have a part of the tomtom screen graphics on it, and it completely covers all the stuff that should appear up there. Any ideas? It seems to be causing a failure of some sort.
I have exactly the same problem. In fact it happens on some other apps too. I'll try and get some reproducible sequences up here for the smarter folks to take a look at.
I'll try and do the same. Have you found a workaround to fix things, or do you do a soft reset?

I'm on 6.030
I will only say this . . .

Please look at that page and good luck. 6.1 and any GPS program are having difficult problems. This, tested by myself and others, fixes those problems for the time being. Good luck.
This is not a TOMTOM problem, this is a general issue on the ROM. I can not reproduce it reliably, but it has happened again. Basically, the Start bar stops.
Definately a general rom problem. I tried all there recommended radios, all have had the problem.
I had the same problem but gone when deactivating CUBE.

No Sound?
I got no sound, that's kinda weird-ish right?
Though my speaker (ear) when calling seems to work, the outside speaker for listening to mp3's or putting the call on speaker does nothing.
Anyone recognizes this?

I had the same problem, you need to read the second post on the Dutty WM6.1 thread, you must use a radio compatible with 6.1, there are atleast 3 there, as soon as i flashed a new radio to my phone my sound worked perfectly
That's strange dude, i already used a WM6.1 compatible Radio rom from another Post. Well, thnx anyway.

Disable the HTC Home clock and see the IGO program work like a charm.
You did not read.
You did not learn.

This goes in the thread

Too much thought went into that Jarek.
Still LMAO though.
I searched, and searched again, and again... no fix for me
I don't want to eat your time... but my iGo still not work. I don't have HTC Home active... I tried even to enable and after that disable this function, but... no result...
This is serious...I can't use my GPS with iGo program....Any suggestion or fix?
Thanks again

And If you have more questions maybe put it in the relevant thread. HERE
Also I think you may have a burned up GPS chip. Try a different GPS program. GPSTest or something. But It would be better if you posted in the Thread that deals with Problems in the rom you are using.
two suggestions:
first: see if u have a-gps enabled. if so: disable and try again
second: try another rom... find one that's best for you.
i dont see how htc home plugin can affect this because i tested all possible combinations w&w/o it enabled and nothing changed. I had the same issue, igo freezing with dutty's wm 6.1 ROM when configuring and turning off assisted gps helped, as stated above.
My GPS worked fine with iGo until I changed the ROM (I had Dutty's ROM nr. 4). And that link that you give me, Jimmy, is related to HTC Home. I don't use it, like I said before.
Help please...
Still no answer... any ideea? Thanks

I'm not sure it's a ROM problem. iGo 6 itelf seems to have a problem dealing with AGPS. Mine also freezes after a while if AGPS is turned on.
I just leave it off and everything seems to work fine.
/drt
one thing i did was turning off the igo today plugin..and reboot..that should partially remove the conflict..
There are actually three different kinds of iGo problems I've seen with the various ROMs I've tried:
- Installation won't complete. Often, iGo will run anyway if you just do a soft reset when the installation halts. Often it won't.
- iGo runs, but once configured to find the GPS COM port, it hangs and hangs every time it starts after that. It may be related to AGPS, but I've seen this in ROMs that do not have that enabled by default. Also, I have no data plan and, as a result, no data connection with the tower.
- iGo installs, but won't start at all. Trying to start it results in a little screen opening animation, but nothing appears. The device is sluggish for a moment, then it's as if you never attempted to start it at all. This is the problem I have with Dutty's latest ROM. This almost certainly not related to AGPS since iGo has no GPS configuration immediately after installation. I don't believe it is related to the HTC Home plugin, since iGo runs fine for me on the AT&T test ROM, and it has the plugin.

This is definitely a conflict with the music tab of HTC Home, but only on some 6.1 ROMs (curiously not build 716 though). This problem doesn't occur in any 6.0 ROMs that I know of. It's not the plugin per se, but some component of the Today screen configuration that's causing the problem.

Is it sufficient to uncheck the plugin in the Today configuration and soft reset or is something more drastic required to resolve the conflict? The instructions linked to in an earlier posting seemed more like a series of black magic steps that happened to work.

Question to all Tomtom Users

Hi.
I have just installed Tomtom (vga-version) on my Touch Pro and found, that when trying to enter an Adress with the slide-out Keyoboard an aditional character is added after each pressed button. This Means: i press "a" and "a°a" appears on the screen.
Does anyone else have the same problem or maybe found a solution?
Never noticed that problem before. Using last version of TT7. Maybe a rom issue with the keyboard driver.
Usually I'm using the soft keyboard of TT7

I can also confirm that this is happening to me with TT 7.915. I'm not completely sure, but I don't think it happened to me with TT 7.910
Do you all use the vga-version? I think it did not happen with the not-vga version that was preinstalled on my device.
I tried with 910 and 915, and I still get this issue :-/
Its hapening to me also. im using TT7.450 (VGA)
Buts not a problem to me. Tomtom is very fingerfriendly and it goes very smooth.
On a slightly different issue, what sort of refresh rate are you getting on TomTom in terms of map redraws per second? I'd guess I'm only getting one, maybe two, but I've seen Sleuth's video, and he looks to be getting 3 or 4.
Any ideas?
Cheers,
Steve.
I also have this issue, although I never use the keyboard while navigating. If you didn't mention it I would have probably never noticed it! LOL
@maw: Well I bought a PDA-holder for my car which holds the Touch pro with the open keyboard, since I thought, that it would be really cool (which it is if it wasn't for the keyboard not working properly in tomtom)
@StevePritchard: I am not sure, but I think I get about 1-3 fps in Tomtom.
did you upgrade your ROM and noticed this problem? As I never used the keyboard with the previous stock ROM I can't say if the ROM upgrade effected the Tomtom interface with the keyboard. I updated my stock ROM with the new version that just came out. Maybe that is the problem, I don't really know.... Very good of you to signal this problem though. Otherwise I don't think this problem can be fixed, I guess we'll just have to wait on a new version of Tomtom to fix this problem. Have you reported it to Tomtom?
no I did not upgrade. I didn't even know, that there is an available update. I am running the stock rom (from o2 germany) that came shipped with the phone.
Is there an update from htc?
No, I did not report, since my Version fell from a truck... I was just wondering whether it was damaged during the fall or if everyone has this problem. ;-)

Its a TomTom error, the newer TT versions dont have that problem.
I used to get this when running Elite RC2 - I moved to ROMeOS and never had the problem

What do you mean by newer versions? I use 7.915 - Is there anything more recent?
I'm getting the same problem, and I've got 7.915 as well. No-one found a solution then?
i had this problem on 3 different versions of tomtom, along with hit or miss signal. it always thinks im inside a building but in the 1/20 shot it works i cant do anything or else "im inside a building" again. i just dont think tomtom was meant for the fuse
It is not a TOMTOM issue. It is an issue with the IME. Here is the fix.
I have attached KforTouchPro_v1.0.0.3.CAB
1. Install the cab
2. It installs to your games folder because this is a fix for several games that have had this issue (I originally discovered it because I had issues using the HW keyboard with logmein)
3. click the Switch to M$ IME button. Now you are good to go!
Thanks - I have just tried it, and TT now works fine.
The problem now is, that other things don't work anymore... I tried writing an E-Mail and it wouldn't let me abort the mail. It displayed the Messageboc, but did not accept any input. Since I write more Mails than I use TT and don't like to keep on switching Keyboard map I is not a real option.
Do you have any Idea?
Hmm.. odd, when I updated my TomTom it just disappered, I have your version aswell, good that there is a update though for you
that K for touch pro, is that KforRaphael that maps certain keys for MorphGear?
I had that installed, but cant recall if it was erroring before that, anyways, good it got solved
