Active Sync GAL and public folder - General Topics

Hi.
I am wondering if I can sync public folders and GAL (Global adress list)
with Windows Mobile
I am connected to Exchange 2003 over the air.
For the moment I am using Mobile 2003 but I will upgrade to Mobile 5 or 6 so is any version able to do what I want?
I would also like to sync with 2 exchange servers is that possible.

Unfortunately, it is impossible to use Public Folders OTA, as far as I know it is also impossible to sync more than one Exchange server at a time using the default ActiveSync client. However, I believe in the Hermes forum there is a client to sync with more than one EAS account, but I'm not sure if it is compatible with other devices.

ActiveSync tweaking synchronizing

I have a Windows Mobile 5 based device and I use activeSync 4.2 with Windows XP SP2 and Office 2003. I would like my work-contatcs and my work-appintments on my work-PC also show up on my mobile but I DO NOT want my private appointments and my private contacts of my mobile (that get snyched from my private PC) show up on my work-PC. So is there a way to force active synch when connected to my work-PC to only synchronize work contacts and appointments ?
Of course. You can Clickon the "Options"-Button in AS-Configuration-Dialog and you can tell AS, which categories shall be synced.

Windows Mobile & Exchange Server

Does having exchange sync set up on a windows mobile slow it down?
Ive trying to decide whether to bother, or whether to export calender etc from office to home pc and sync using cable every now and again?
Would use my treo pro to collect my live.co.uk windows mail?
Basically, I am asking what effect does having a sync set up with an exchange server have on the handset?

syncronize imap account in outlook 2007 with mobile

Hi all, I have configurated my imap gmail account on my pc outlook 2007 and is working fine. Now, when try to synchronize my outlook mobile emails with my pc, the mobile doesn't get any email from my computer. It seems like the imap account is not linked with the main outlook folders but to a new imap folder linked to gmail which is not recognized by activesync. The mobile runs under windows mobile 6.1, does anyone had a similar experience? how can I configure my outlook 2007/outlook mobile? I try to configure outlook mobile on my device but it looks like is not possible or must be done automatically when connected to my pc.
Thanks!
bugs on samsung omnia ii firmware
hi all, I've been reading on the internet and found that apparently there are some bugs on the rom of my device (omnia ii) which are partially solved by a new firmware release that can only be flashed at the samsung service center... By the time being it seems like there have been 9 releases but most of them still have any bug so think will wait to the windows mobile 6.5 upgrade which is expected for october. Anyway I do not recomend buying this phone until samsung guarantees that all the problems are solved given that very important fuctions on a smartphone like the e-mail are not working properly.

[Q] Info on how Active sync on android works

We just upgraded our outlook web from 2007 to 2010 the upgrade ended up breaking all Entourage and Crackberries and Android phone Active sync connection. We were able to get the Entourage and Crackberries fixed minus about 10%. The android has been limited to 2.2 and 2.1 phones using the default exchange client. It gets to the point of creating the account and fails after polling and setting up active sync for 5 minutes. It will authenticate the users but states can't create the account at this time.
I don't have full access to the active sync (AD settings or IIS) we use godaddy ssl certs.
the original link was piratemail.ecu.edu and the workaround is legacypiratemail.ecu.edu
More than anything resource material for how the android side is wanting to authenticate and build the account on the phone from the exchange server settings would be great.

[Q] windows 7 and omnia 7

Hi peeps,
Never even seen a Samsung omnia 7, but tonight I was asked how you would sync MS Outlook contacts and calender from windows 7 pc to the Samsung omnia 7
I couldn't answer at the time because my last windows phone was a HTC HD2 running 6.5 and syncing that with XP seemed to be a bit backward compared with my old HTC Blueangel and ActiveSync.
Can you please point me / her in the correct direction. She has a pop email account, not hotmail and apparently is finding it a little difficult to find instructions for anything other than an MS Exchange setup.
I did a search and saw a few references to wireless sync, what's the way forward please?
If this MS outlook hotmail connector "Work around" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LqJL9X0oqIk is the only work around then MS are truly nuts, what an own-goal. iPhone & Android have better sync capabilities with MS Outlook
you have to setup the phone to synchronize with Windows Live Website and then add in outlook (2007>2010) the hotmail account as mail account.
It will download the "hotmail connector" to download all data from windows live.
you can also use windows live mail 2011 instead of outlook (free and easy to use)
MSFT have stated pretty clearly that the future is in the cloud. Actually Windows Live mail is an excellent implemenation of cloud & local e-mail integration.. If you want to use google mail or something else, then fine, (and WP7 is fine with that too) .. but I don't know why MSFT have to support possible e-mail configurations - for free. If you don't want to play it their way try nuevasync, pipe everything via their service & connect as an exchange server.
