{SOLVED} Vox to TomTom aka Bluetooth DUN - HTC Vox

If this has been covered before and is known to work then feel free to lock or delete the topic
Apologies if this is common knowledge but I spent an entire day on this on Wednesday without any joy but have just managed to crack it and get my phone talking to my TomTom via GPRS and thus re-enable all my TomTom plus stuff.
Okay, so the key here is application unlocking the phone.
Because the Vodafone v1415 is still pretty new in the UK (and therefore I guess uncommon) all the instructions I could find refer more explicitly to the HTC S710 and it has been a bit unclear exactly how much or how little Vodafone have monkey'd about with it before selling it on.
I've managed to establish that they've done quite a lot! And it's certainly appllication locked.
I just went through the thread about removing a lot of the branding but the bit that didn't work was the registry editing as I just got Acces Denied. After a quick search I followed the instructions in this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=280710
And got my phone un-application locked. I suspect this is not 'unlocked' as in how most UK people find their phones to be SIM locked (not Vodafone incidentally) which is why I continually make the distinction.
After then successfully editing my registry so as to change the appearance a little I then wandered if it would have any impact on what I was trying to do the other day about the BT DUN issue (or lackof).
'Lo and behold I reinstalled the cab file (WM6_BT_DUN.cab) that I had found in a thread on these very forums, rebooted the phone and bingo, the TomTom then connected (which it did before), the phone gave DUN as a capability (which it did not before) and everything proceeded as it used to with my Nokia 6230.
You'll need to search the forum to find the thread with that file since I can't remember where it came from but it was a hot topic so I really doubt it will be at all hard to find.
I'm chuffed since that was a real show stopper and I was going to return the phone and cancel the contract but now in one afternoon I've got rid of most of the crappy branding and resolved the last issue with it
So, big thumbs up again to these forums and to offically mark the WM6_BT_DUN.cab down as working with the Vodafone version of the Vox as long as you unlock it first as above.
So, now that I've finally covered all the setup of my phone I can get down to some of the developy type things that I bought it for in the first place (well, free on contract but hey!)
Oh, probably worth noting that I did all this on an iMac too (with a little help from VMWare here and there)

The CAB is available at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=1351044&postcount=21

DUN
...does anyone know if the Cab files has been ammended yet to deal with the issue of once a DUN call is made...it keeps the connection open until the phone is reset?
In this case, Activesync via GPRS does not work ( get a message about "cannot connect whilst a voice call is in progress) and I;m also worried about the cost of the DUN call charges?

Can anyone help with this.
I use activesync to connect to MS Exchange at work for MS Outlook email. I was looking to install the BT DUN workaround on my Vodafone v1415 so that I could access the TomTom Traffic service with my TomTom GO520. If I install BT DUN will it break my GPRS connection used to Sync with MSExchange at work.

Can yuo tell me which directory you need to copy the CAB files to on the phone?

GPRS AND 02

Has anyone managed to get full Internet and Messenger on O2? If so, please could they let me know how they managed to do it?
Thank you.
If you get a working phone (looking at your profile you have an XDA1?) then it should arrive in a working state.
On my XDA1 and 2 (hopefully 2i tomorrow!!) I was able to get straight onto the net and MSN over GPRS without any problems. There was an issue when I first got the 2 due to it being a duff phone, but that was MMS messages not working correctly. Once they replaced it for me it's worked a treat since.
However, the following file may help you...it's been on this site many times before and should (at least on XDA2's, you might want to check for 1 if that's what you have) set up your net settings correctly.
Cheers
Anthony
I should have specified that I want to get on the Internet and use MSN with O2 pay-as-you-go and not contract - is there anyway I can get the Internet with PAYG? Will the above method and file work on an XDA?

Treo 750v BT DUN

Hi,
I have been using Palm Treo 750v in Malaysia for few days now and have tried everyway to get DUN setup for my Bluetooth connection but i can't get it work.
My BT Software on notebook discover and setup the BT DUN for my Palm but once i say connect it sends the request to ph but then gave me an error of "Failed to Connect"
Am i missing something here? I have been using BT DUN for ages with other PPC5 phones and even with nokia and sonyericsson phones. This is the first time i have encountered this problem.
Any solution?
Hi,
had the same problem. add the following string in Modem --> Properties---> Advanced tab and it shud work. APN is access point name or network. let me
know how it goes.
+cgdcont=1,"IP","APN"
Thanks a lot man. This is great i did as u said and it works. But honestly i don't know how and why it works this time, cuz i have always put the string in the Modem settings, the only thing different was i never put "IP" inside but cuz still the string was working fine with my HTC Tytn and other phones so i never thought the problem could be with the string anyways.
Thanks a lot now it works
Hallo, same problem here.
However I followed your suggestion but it is still not working.
Problem seems to be that connection cannot be established (infact call to the provider is properly forwarded).
I tried with two different providers, Vodafone and Wind, but results are the same.
Any more tips to try, please?
Thanks
Leo

Blackberry client on WM 6?

The BB connect don't work with WM6 actually...
from Palm : Do not Install this update if you are using Blackberry Connect (BBC). Palm Windows Mobile 6 does not support the BBC service...
this is a BB connect CAB...made by HTC
it's basically made for AT&T tilt (8925) = Kaiser
I guess it'll work with any WM6 pro device...

thanks to duke911
or download cab file to your pc:

edit: thanks for the correction!
Corrected BB Connect URL...

Tried this and it won't work for me.
Has anyone actually got this working on a Treo750?
It gets an IP for about a second but then it drops it.
Same here w/ 750c. Gets an IP address for a few seconds and drops to no connection. BTW I am using BBC 4.0.0.90, you can find it on sems.org. I wonder if anyone w/ the Voda or the Aussie ROM would give a shot to this BBC version to see if it makes any difference.
Thanks,
HC
I guess it's the same problem as elsewhere, where you need to change the machine type in window.nb (I think). Only problem is I can't find an easy explanation of how to do this.
I was trying BBC 4.0.0.90 with Voda ROM and no luck.
Strange thing today on my 750c - Got PIN
Hi all,
It seems that something is changing w/ either RIM or ATT. I installed again today BBC 4.0.0.90 onto my 750c w/ WM6 ATT leaked ROM, after the normal reboot, surprisingly, BBC service connected to the network and I got a PIN. Clearly it said "Connected" on the status tab. Well, I connected the device to my laptop and ran the BBC Desktop, the system was provisioned properly (I think ...), Notes Backend, but now it fails to connect to Blackberry, same symptoms as before, even after multiple soft resets, see comments above. I'll play around some more w/ it and let you all know if I get anything to work. In the mean while, if anyone else has any success, please share ....
Good luck
HC
I have WM 6.1 installed using BB Connect 4.0.0.97 and its a no go. Oddly enough, I tried the same thing on an earlier Vodaphone WM5 ROM and it still didn't work...any suggestions?
Btw, I get the same issues as above, I have a PIN listed (and IP address for a short time if I Suspend and Resume) but then when I attempt to input the PIN into my online BIS account and switch devices is says the information can't be verified.

[SOLVED] HTC Tilt + Dutty WM6.1 + BBConnect = PIN: Pending

Hey guys, i've seen a number of different threads which "kind of" talk about this issue. I'm hoping to make this the definitive one. I'm on hour 10 of working to try to get this running..
(My apologies in advance if there is already one out there that i haven't found. i have been really looking and i think i tried it all... im sure thats what everyone says )
Hardware: HTC 8925 a.k.a At&t Tilt a.k.a TyTN II
Software: Duttys Official WM6.1 Release
Radio: 1.64.06.04
Provider: At&t (US)
Problem: BlackBerry Connect's "Identity" Tab reads "PIN: Pending"
I should also mention that i called At&t to confirm (prior to all of this) that i have a BBConnect service plan, it is active, and there is nothing on their end that would indicate a failure of any sorts.
Attempted Fixes (These have ALL failed):
I've tried every combination of having active sync enabled and disabled during bbconnect install.
I hard reseted before every install. Soft reseted after issue still occurred even after bbconnect install rebooted.
All tests were performed with the the HKLM\System\Versions Aku set to .0.4.2 as per Dutty's wiki: (http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=DuttySeriesKaiser)
I also tried various combinations such as .0.2.0 and .0.3.6 and .0.3.0
Even tired changing Device ID to HTC_P3450
Tried all of the following BBConnect software downloads:
4.0.0.84:
http://sems.org/content/download/bbc4/o2-terra-bbconnect_wm6_professional_bb_4.0.0.84.cab
4.0.0.90:
http://sems.org/content/download/bbc4/bbconnect_wm6_pro_4.0.0.90.cab
4.0.0.91:
http://sems.org/content/download/bbc4/bbconnect_wm6_professional_bb_4.0.0.91.cab
4.0.0.92:
http://sems.org/content/download/bbc4/bbconnect_wm6_professional_bb.4.0.0.92.cab
Tried installing this one both by copying cab file over to local device and through device web browser:
4.0.0.97:
http://www.america.htc.com/mobile/connect/8925/
I'm installing from and installing to the local device memory, not the storage card..
i think i covered it all... oh, i didnt try the one HEX edit solution, because i didnt think its applicable to dutty's rom..
can ANYONE please help?!
---------------UPDATE--------------------
Okok...so problem solved... i thought i read something similar to this solution somewhere.. but..well whatever... frustrations are over (the problem always seems to find a way to fix itself after you post help for it! )
Process:
1. Hard Reset (set up initial settings, connect to provider, its a total of two reboots iirc)
2. Change registry setting (HKLM\System\Versions Aku set to .0.4.2)
3. Soft Reset
4. Change Device ID to any value (Settings->System->About->Device ID)
5. Soft Reset
6. Install BBConnect 4.0.0.97 via device browser from http://www.america.htc.com/mobile/connect/8925/
7. Installation reboots system
8. Disable 3G connection, force to use EDGE via wireless connection manager
9. Device receives PIN, activates, etc..
10. Enable 3G connection
Notes:
1. So i dont know if items 2,3,4, and 5 were really required.. after preliminary testing, everything works fine with the 3g connection turned on after initial registration.
2. I noticed that the BBConnect Today icon kept showing an exclamation mark indicating its outgoing connection was being blocked. Also the status window kept showing that the connection was suspended by the user, when i never did anything.. so i tired disabling the 3G and sure enough.. problem solved..
Hope this saves someone out there the headache i've been going through.. oh well.. back to the girlfriend who i've been ignoring for the last 10 hours... (hopefully im not in that much trouble )
wooooooooooooooooooot, thx for the solution.
Man...thanks a lot for all the help...it worked like a charm...and i am using it here in dubai...uae where the black berry doestn support the kaiser offically
cheers bro
Great work man, great work for users who uses BBConect
3G still working?
Quick question for those who tried the (disabled 3G to Edge) and then re-enabled 3g.
Does your 3g still work? Have your tried to place calls in 3G mode? I am on my third Tilt, the prior two times I lost 3g after installing blackberry connect, and I want to see if anyone else has this problem, before a try a third time.
Note: On my previous two phones all worked well when I downgraded to GPRS (Edge) as described, but I never got back 3g (even after flashing and removing BBConnect)

I added this post to Dutt's WIKI and gave you due credit for your hard work.
Now if only someone can figure out how to force WM to do multiple APNs and BBConnect would be perfect!
Strange... All I had to do with my Tilt was set the AKU to .0.4.2 or .0.4.4 in the registry before installing the BB Connect software.
I've used the .92 & .97 installers from CAB files on my SD card just fine.
If you change the AKU version after the BB software is installed, it won't work right, as it will still drop the connection. You'll have to reinstall the software.

Quick Question
So to those of you who have BB Connect running, is all well with your 3G? Thanks for your help, I want to hear a few success stories before a walk down this path again
so I followed the steps, and got everything installed and turned off. I'm trying to get an unlocked tilt on my blackberry account on t-mobile.
The problem is its installed, but the email options are greyed out. We don't use an exchange server (or if we do it is configured very wrong) as I have pop3 information on my t-mobile blackberry page. It says I register successfully on the network, but I still don't receive emails. What do I need to chnage?
edit: fixed - I had to get back online and say yes that I had a new pin.
THANKS!!

that is the same problem I have left now, almost like hardware related.
does AT&T default one can do multiple APNs? as it is officaly support BBC.
I installed Blackberry Connect and I am using it with a Blackberry Enterprise Server.
But I see in order to have the BB icon, the GPRS is always attached. Should it work like this ? I know/knew that with Blackberry phones it attaches to GPRS only when incoming email is coming, and only with Microsoft Directpush technology it stays attached all the time.
If it works like this ( Always On ), is there a difference between BB Connect for WM, and Outlook with Microsoft Direct Push ?
Yours,
Alex

This link doesn't seem to work, it's actually supposed to be:
http://www.america.htc.com/mobile/connect/8925/index.html
The problem is, when you click "install now" it still can't find the cab. The 4.0.0.97 cab is now mirrored here:

desktop manager software
Do you have a link for desktop manager?
I have the version 4.x.17 and cannot connect with the bb on the pda.
I don't know which is the latest or most compatible version for desktop mgr having in consideration what you have in the pda. please, give me some light...
Thanks from a Touch DUAL user....
Thanks Elec.Two
Just added this to the Touch Dual Forum (Nike) as it works a dream for us too!

Has anybody an idea how this will work on a Pharos / HTC P3470? I just tried it described in this taks, but without success.
I had 2 dots and an x
I updated to Dutty's ROM today, and had problems with BBC.
So I searched, found this page and did exacty as told. No luck. Tried again. No luck.
So I went to Start/Settings/Connections/Connections and then clicked on 'Manage existing connections' and changed the settings (default on Dutty's ROM). [To do that click 'Edit' and change the 'Access point name' from isp.cingular to wap.cingular. Click next and change the 'User name' from ISP.CINGULARGPRS.COM to WAP.CINGULARGPRS.COM]
This worked for me. This info is for noobs, of which I am one!
I have just updated my TyTN II to WM6.1 and bbconnect (version 4.0.97) stopped working. Basically it had PIN marked as pending and was reporting no connection.
I have executed only step 2 (change hklm) and 3 (soft reset) from elec.two procedure and it resolved my issue - bbconnect works now. I have not reinstalled the bbconnect.

Well, I have to thank you on this! I could not get BB Connect to work for the life of me, and your fix finally go t it working!!!
Thanks!
.... and now for the Diamond - same old problem....
Have tried all the known fixes - I think - anyone had any success with bbconnect on the new diamond? Sigh.....

sudden problem with softbank connection. Why?

Hmm I just got back to Kyoto from a trip to New Zealand and found that my phone will no longer connect with the opensoftbank connection. THE PHONE CAN BE USED AS NORMAL. Anyway, when connecting to the internet, I get the following error:
"Dialed : open.softbank.ne.jp. Cannot connect for an unknown reason"
Neither installing of the connection .cab or the wifiwake method , with the correct wifiwake, nor even putting the password in by hand, worked. I have tried several different roms. Of course, I did the usual and checked the connection to make sure password was actually inputed, etc. Anyway, I am sure I know what I am doing since I have been doing this since the Hermes; and remember, the think worked before leaving Japan.
So, I thought perhaps I had a phone problem. Well it appears not. Installing the original softbank rom works! Anybody else had any similar issues of late? Strange indeed.
UPDATE: On the original Japanese ROM I deleted the original settings (which are hidden by the way) and manually put the opensoftbank settings in and all still worked. Now, get this: I installed jmckeejr's Chrome 23037_Beta2 and even put in the autosettings (the vodafone [email protected]) just to see if it would let me connect... it did not. SO, neither the old vodafone nor the softbank open settings appear to work. Damn, makes me think softbank have clamped down on us, somehow... Anyone got any good ideas, please let me know.
Softbank seems to have stopped service to my phone this morning as well. It was fine yesteday, I've been paying my bills and using the data connection very modestly.
For me, however, it's not only the data connection that won't work anymore but I can't even make phone calls. I reinstalled the 6.1 official Softbank rom and this didn't help the problem. Something strange is going on here.
Hi Jonathan. I hope you could solve your problem. I solved mine by installing the latest NRGZ28 EnergyRom Warhawk. It worked fine. It seems that some of the later roms than this (released around end of Aug/beginning of Sep) do not work with softbank's connection settings.
I will do a little more poking around to see if I can find out any more information as to what may be causing the problem, as at the moment it is all a mystery to me. Cheers.
