I know there was some retina security scanning application that could crack wep bruteforce, but it didn't work for smartphone (at least not on my i600).

So some of the institutions where I use wireless on my HTC HD7 have a secure wifi network. My problem is that it requires 802.1x EAP TTLS PAP support. As far as i know (along with some use of the almighty google)... there is no support for this on windows phone 7 or almost any windows mobile devices (i do recall some ppl on this site being able to do it for the htc s621 with a registry hack).
Is there any sympathetic developer out there willing to take on the task. Once developed and functioning... I would not mind donating
...anyways... for a possible idea and look into what may be required... people on here did develop it for the android pretty recently and its done wonders...

i miss this feature as well, i used symbian before wp7 which offered these advanced settings

I don't mean an app because that definitely wouldn't be the way.... i mean a possible registry edit or a file to deploy with an installer
This is another thing which has been annoying me with WP7. I used to use SecureW2 client with wm6.5 but this isn't available for WP7. The phone also never seems to retain a data connection with O2 in the UK. It works sometimes after using connection set-up app but invariably drops when I need it most.
Any news from this?? EAP-TTLS would be awesome, because Uni Leipzig uses it as well...
I'd like to bump this as well. We're using Cisco's AP running Open with EAP - RADIUS security. All other common mobile OSes (iOS, Android, WinMo 6.x) can connect to this except WP7.
I'd like to recover the thread as the app mentioned is the single most important missing feature for me right now. Since it seems that we will not be getting any more feature updates in this direction (I had kind of hoped for that).

Yeah for me too, I am not exactly sure what 802.1x I need but my university needs a username and pw, and iOS does this natively, and with android you need a separate app. I hope Windows addresses in 7.8.(fingers crossed)
My job requires me to use a whole arsenal of native Linux penetration tools. I carry a laptop running backtrack Linux, has all the tools I need, and is ready to go right out of the box.
I thought I would bring over these tools to my phone, and maybe save me some time.
The end result being an update.zip or rom security pros aswell as average android user can flash to thier phone. And have these utilities at there fingertips to check network vulnerabilities without downloading a linux distro and tracking down libraries dependencies , etc.
I just started working on this today. So far I have netcat and some other basic tools working. My main goal is to port the more advanced tools such as nmap, ettercap, metasploit and the aircrack-ng suite. Im aware some of these utilities wont be able to be ported. We won't know till we try .
Im looking for people to help get this off the ground and see how far we can take it.
What do you guys think? Wouldnt it be nice to run a script and find out if your wifi network and computers connectd are secure?

While I wish you the best, I know aircrack has always been that intangible gem. Always getting so close to full functionality but not quite. Though those were the early days and HW and Android has came a long way since then. Have you seen some of the older threads on aircrack? Might be some helpful info in there if you run into any issues.

There was a guy that actually got backtrack running on our phones in its entirety, not everything worked right but it was cool. Not sure where to find his stuff though as that was months ago.

i had rdp set up on my g1 years ago and also on my moto cliq(didnt really work) trying to get it set up on my my touch 4g. help! currently have remote desktop from xilosoft or womthing lsong those lines i think with my g1 i used tiny vnc or womthing laong thise line but im brain farting on hoe to set up it up.
Use TeamViewer client and host. Probably the best solution in existence.

Install any Linux Distro on your laptop and learn to use Aircrack or similar. There is no way to really crack a wireless network using a mobile phone.
Even if you could run a wpa cracking on a smartphone it would be useless. Wpa takes DAYS (if you're lucky and the password is simple and not alphanumeric) to crack. A normal smartphone battery lasts 16-18 hours, not to consider that an app to do that would require patched drivers and other little modifications. And remember, what you are asking is not legal in any country, you can only "test" your network, which is not that useful for a private if your password is wpa2 encrypted and contains numbers and symbols.
Anyway, I heard that someone found a way to use aircrack on a N1, but as I said, it's useless.

Hi guys! After searching for months on google I decided to ask it to pro developer of this awesome forum. Is it possible to have a Direct Wi Fi Connection between my Android device (Lg L5 e610) and my PC (Win7, Ubuntu 13.04, Mac OSx Snow Leopard)? Is there any tool or program to do it? Or at least a developement project (I like to be a tester)? I found some solutions for my question but they need to a router to work :crying: and i haven't it

Yes there be plenty of ways. If you want commanding access thru the command line and you're running root, then try wireless Android debugging bridge (usually found under developer settings I think) or download an ssh server app from the market place (some don't require root and you can find a good list of apps to test herehttp://android.stackexchange.com/questions/9905/is-there-some-ssh-server-for-android from Android stack exchange) further more if you are running root and you want the screen and all the GUI there are apps that let you do this too such as Droid vnc serverhttp://www.google.com/url?q=https:/...dycANA&usg=AFQjCNGQZqmOFJI8BJfOYyjJ9Gi1sjm_Rg
One weird word of warning about some of these; if you're on a nice network service provider, then some of the above apps work over 3G or 4G too. sooooo set a good password and don't forget to turn it off when you're done with it
So that's something for android what about the other end of the connection? The client side of things
On my laptop I've access to Vista and Ubuntu 12.04
For Vista I use Putty to connect via ssh and it works fine over wifi. I have yet to figure the GUI side for Windows but I've been working on it.
For Ubuntu I use remia to view the GUI of linux running on Android, works fine but have yet to test droid VNC server for the android GUI. And sshing in through command line wasn't a problem over wifi.
For more info on the android linux to pc connection see section 7 in the bellow links to the guide I maintain for such things.
Edit- I see that the formatting using mobile XDA app still leaves me wanting better functions, I'll see about fixing it when on a PC. In the meantime try this app

Well I've been able to run server and client services on either side of the following setup;
1 turn wifi tethering on one device (I'll call this device Wabafet)
2 connect to Wabafet with another device (I'll call this device Q)
3 run what's my IP searches for Q and for Wabafet
4 start server service on Q and client services on Wabafet
5 connect to server on Q with Wabafet and enjoy
Note; this set up keeps Q from being seen over the rest of the net, and some kind of port forwarding is needed to make it viable outside of the local wifi network
Note 2; if you connect a third device to Wabafet as a client you can still access the server on Q
Note 3; if you run a server on Wabafet and on Q then both can also run client services too and connect to one another
Note 4; if you've got a wireless router then you can skip the part about wifi tethering and instead connect Wabafet and Q to the router instead, however, this may require port forwarding to be set up on your specific router.
As far as wifi to wifi without a router or hot spot... I think setting a static IP in your wifi settings on Wabafet and on Q and then turning on but not connecting to a router should allow the devices to scan and connect to one another... But this will require some kind of client server set up again and will require that the apps being used don't require an active network to start. Droid vnc is a good example of this and has been reported to work over bluetooth too and even when the device is in airplane mode when the app starts.

WiFI Direct is supported out of the box for Win8 as well as JellyBean. However, they way they are supported, even thought you can "pair/connect" over WiFi Direct, you need an application to take advance of this "pipe". As far as I'm aware there are currently no apps that can directly connect a Win8 device and an Android device over WiFi Direct to share a file.
Coincidentally, I'm working on an app that at least can do so with Android. Based on the OP's post, he seems to be describing AirDrop. I think what I'm doing is "better", but users will tell =) I am putting it out on limited Private Beta soon, so if you're curious to what all the buzz/fuss is about, go to www.get-drop.com.

try to put a wifi dongle in your pc and use an program like... ah i forgot the name! but it is use to let the dongle release a signal like router
U can also use airdroid.
