What kind or Type of X01T?? - General Topics

Dear all,
I'm a newbie, please tell me what is the kind or type of X01T (Toshiba Portege G900)? Is is a Hermes device? and can I unlock it with HTC_Hermes_SIM_CID_Unlock_v3a application?
Thank you for you reading and answering!

Saw this thread so decided to ask question here instead of posting a new one. Sorry.
May I know if there would be any problem if i install an english version over the original one?

The X01T is in no way related to the X01HT, HTC or the Hermes. It is a device released by Toshiba and only shares an OS in common with the Hermes. It will have its own firmware, ROM, loader, radio and other components. They may appear similar in design but are otherwise totally not related. If you like expensive bricks, feel free to attempt to run Hermes hardware hacks.

I am looking for X01T stylus and batteries...are these on sale in Japan? And can I use X01T batteries on G900? Thanks...

What phone do I have ?

Hi everyone,
I have been trying to unlock my phone (app and SIM ) as well as looking up other cool things to do with my phone (isn't it what this forum is about? )
Well here comes my problem: I can't figure out which phone I have.
Some people talked about SDA 11, like this one
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=38859&highlight=unlock
and when I followed the link there (http://www.modaco.com/T_Mobile_SDA_app_and_sim_unlock_solution_is_here_-t230715.html)
they talked about a Typhoon or Orange SPV C500 in that link,
and that really puzzled me since I do'nt want to do anything wrong and fry my phone. .
And then there's this post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=47927&highlight=sda
and then the SDA 2, which I have no idea whether it applies to me, since there's no SDA 2 on the T-mobile website:
http://www.t-mobile.com/shop/phones...57f&WT.srch=2&Result_Inq=answer&InqSource=TMO
and then this one post to turn off GPRS for the Tornado
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=40878&highlight=
well it doesn't work for me, so .....
So, which one do I have ?
Orange SPV C500 or SDA or SDA 2 or Hurricane or Tornado? or Qtek... or Xda... ?
Maybe it would be helpful for newbies like me to have a post that classify all the phones that are out there and there variations in brand / model / name / version / series / country.......
Thanks!
Your post is a bit unclear to me. Although I have been known to be a bad reader in the past, I could not find the specs for your phone... So, what is the brand and model of your phone? Do you have a Qtek, I-Mate, T-Mobile? What is the model nr or name on the box? SDA, C500, 8300? Without this information we cannot help you.
Bascially the Tornado and Hurricane are the HTC (the manufacturer) code names, the carriers and brands like Qtek, I-Mate, Orange and T-Mobile give them their own name and model nr, although the hardware is the same. So if you provide your brand name and model name/nr, we can help you better.

You mean like this from the wiki
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HTC_PhoneModels
Sounds like you looked everywhere else
To find out what you have look at the model number in Settings->System->Device Information->Identity and compare it with the oemid in the table.

Anyhow Thanks kevino!

Thanks anyhow koksie, but I sort of figured it our from the HTC_phone_models chart!
lolz.. we should put that chart on top of the whole website..!
it's not in the forum so search will not help
it's on the normal site
which you have to click on the Wiki.xda-developers.com link in the left upper corner to access

Debranding the Kaiser?

Hi guys,
I've just received my T mobile branded Kaiser. It's called the Vario 3.
As i am not looking to use the device with tmobile. Is it possible to debrand this device? If so, please explain how. My assumtption is that i'll need to upload a generic rom to the device.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Please read the forum first, before you post a question...
Especially the sticky threads...
To be short:
We know it's called the Vario 3 / Vario III
...
You can probably unbrand the outside by rubbing some sugar against the logo's (I don't take any responsability for this, but it's known to be working on a T-Mobile MDA Vario I).
Th 'inside' is also known as the ROM an can't be unbranded yet...
Just wait untill we are able to CID-unlock it, so you can flash the ROM with an unbranded one...
For now you can hard-reset (format) it and jst after the screen alignment when it's counting down for customization soft-reset it by pushing your stylus up the little hole in the bottom of your device...
Good luck...
Oh, and...
Welcome to the Kaiser forum
Hi,
Sorry for not reading the sticky stuff, i'm just not that familiar with the technical terms for these devices so i thought me asking 'again' novice-style may be cool. Thanks for your help on this mate.
No problem...
I started out this way too, so...
I can tell you it's really worth it to dive in to this forum...
You can learn a lot if you check the threads once in a while...
Be carefull with advanced adjustments to your device, especially when you haven't got the right ROM for backup...
On the other hand, don't be scared to try out some stuff, because it's very hard to brick a device...
BTW:
Bricking means you screw up youre device so terribly (beyond repair) that it's turned in to a brick / expensive paperweight...
Just tried putting in my vodaphone sim into the Vario 3 and it says SIM LOCK code needed....Any advice where to get one from apart from t mobile?
Sorry...
I guess you'll have to wait...
pof is working on a CID-unlocker and probalby on a way to SIM-unlock it too...
I heard it's a difficult procedure, because the way it's simlocked is 'new'...
Maybe you can try www.imei-check.co.uk...
It's a paid service...
Decide for yourself if you're willing to pay, or have the patience to wait for a free solution...
I'm definatley sticking with the last one...

Why my HTC Tornado looks different?

Hi, I am new here and to windows mobile. I just purchased a HTC Tornado and I am looking for a thread that tells me how to upgrade it from WM5 to WM6. The problem is, when I search for HTC Tornado all the threads show a different Tornado phone then what I have. I have the HTC Tornado from Tmobile. Would I upgrade it the same way you upgrade the Tornado I keep seeing in this section?? Do I have a older model or something? Any help would be greatly appreciated! I attached a picture of the Torando that I have.
Thanks
You have a regular Tornado, simply the music edition. It's identical to mine and you can use without problem any of the WM6 that are available here
The insides are the same as the tornado, T-Mobile just puts their case on it. Many companies do the same.
I have the exact same version. Also called SP5m for the music edition. Be *very* careful to burn only those ROMS made for the Tornado. HTC Faraday for example looks very similar and many people have "bricked" their phone (made it totally useless) by installing that ROM.
Good luck.
Thanks for the help guys.. Anyone know where I can view a help section for newbs? I take it ROMS are programs?? And when you say my Tornado is the music edition, the other tornado can't play music? Can I update from WM5 right to WM6?
Thanks
It is the same HTC Tornado as any other. It has the exact same specs and features. The only differenece is the case. You can use any ROM for HTC Tornado.
other tornado don't have special buttons(play, next, previous), but they play music just the same as your SP5m does. ROMs are programs to upgrade your OS(operating system), it's like changing the PC OS from XP to Vista having a special software to help you do that more easily, there is no forum/section for newbs, as an advice, read all FAQs and other instructions here in Tornado section, and when you think you are ready - upgrade you WM5 to WM6, but if you aren't sure in smth better ask here before you make a step in nowhere..
good luck
Is there any big advantages to upgrade WM5 to WM6? Hard to do for a newb?
WM6 is lot better than WM5. I like it lot more. And it is not hard to upgrade to WM6. Basically you just need to superCID your phone, format BINFS and run the ROM Update Utility. Read this for more info: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=324557
Thanks for the help. My phone should be here anyday now. Can't wait to mess around with it Is there anywhere anyone knows of where I can get newbie info on all the terms such as SuperCID, BINFS etc..
try the wiki. Look at the links at the top of the forums.

Windows Mobile on non-listed phone(on the forum)

I was wondering, which edition of Windows Mobile could i use for this phone:TV966
I know, you will probably say this phone doesn't support Windows Mobile, but i contacted the supplier and he told me that the phone itself isn't loaded with Windows Mobile, but it can and does support it. Which version could i use for this phone?
I hope this is the right forum for the question. Thanks in advance!
Since this phone has a touch screen WM pro will be the version to use.
On how to put it on this phone, the easy way would be... Who am i kidding, there is no easy way to put WM on this, unless you port WM from scratch to this
So it isn't possible to load this phone with WM?
As this is an HTC ONLY FORUM I don´t believe you´ll find too much info for your device
Anyway good luck,
Is there a possibility to upgrade this phone when 6.5 comes?
E-TEN Glofiish V900
I'm sorry to bother, but i can't find any other forum with this kind of topics.

I'm looking to get a phone off eBay that is capable of running WinMo 6.5 along with the Tzones hack. What phones would you people recommend to someone looking for a cheap GSM smartphone?
Also, how simple is it to fix a bad ROM flash, as there I know someone who had bad flash on a Treo 750, and I may be able to buy it off them.
Welcome to forums
