Hi all..
I've been using a TwinMOS 2GB x66 cad for 2 months now, and rarely I had the problem of disappearing storage card, but a simple SR or inserting the card again solved the problem.
Since a couple of hours, the symptom has come back, but now nothing solves it I've done a dozen of SR and inserted the card several times, but still the same problem: some folders are empty, and others are written in strange letters. the card isn't actually disappearing at all, ilauncher still shows its correct size, but all folders are corrupted.
I have the feeling that all this happened after installing the free medical program EPOCRATES, since only this program's folder was viewable in the program files folder on the storage card, and all others simply disappeared. Of course uninstalling the software didn't help
Any idea guys???
Thanks in advance.
Did you try to install this cab. It's for the htc p3300 but it's work too for the htc p3600 ...
http://www.europe.htc.com/support/faq.html?id=545&device=htcp3600
Isn't it strange that this patch has been published by HTC only mentionning the pb on P3300 and not ont the P3600 ?
Are you sure applying it on a P3600 is safe ?
Yes, i am...I apply it to mine and it's work fine... I didn't have some problems with my mini-sd card but with my sim+ (128 Mo) and now it's more stable !!
And as you can see the link i put is for the htc p3600.
This cab works also with the htc :
- S310
http://www.europe.htc.com/support/faq.html?id=545&device=htcs310
- S710
http://www.europe.htc.com/support/faq.html?id=545&device=htcs710
This has been posted before in various threads, but just to repeat:
The cab mentioned is for the Artemis/P3300. It installs one file to \windows: omap850_sdhc.dll, which is the SD driver for a device with a TI OMAP 850 processor.
It will have no effect, positive or negative, to install it on a device with a Samsung processor, except wasting 42K of space.
So why the support of HTC in this differents links (3600, s310, s710) refers to it ?? And it's fact that my sim+ is more stable now !! Not to bother you ... just to understand !!

Actually they don't really. This has also been explained before in other posts, but here goes again:
If you go to www.europe.htc.com and navigate to support for P3300, you can find faq 545, which relates to the 'P3300 SD card enhancement', and when you've found that one, the URL in the address will be: www.europe.htc.com/support/faq.html?id=545
If you now go and add e.g. '&device=htcp3600' to the end of the URL and press enter, then you will get the same faq, but it will look like it's from the P3600 support, which is not really true; it's just a 'less fortunate' behaviour by the web site.
Faq 545, 'P3300 SD card enhancement', really belongs to the P3300 support area, and nowhere else.

I'm sure it's correct when you say so, but if it's caused by putting omap850_sdhc.dll in your \windows directory, then it's nothing short of a miracle.
Okay...thanks !

Thanks guys for the replies, but I guess we went a little bit off-topic.
I understand that the patch mentioned above won't work. Is there any other solution to this issue, apart from formatting it again??
unfortunately, I forgot to move my SPB Backup file from the miniSD to my PC, so I lost even that file my bad
I would like to mention again how it happened: most presumably after installing the program EPOCRATES. Can this help??
Thanks again
You are far from being the first to have a problem like this with a SD card on a Trinity, and I'm afraid there is no easy cure.
Did you try and put the card in a card reader and see if it looked OK here?
If you can read it with a card reader, then make a backup (copy) to your PC, reformat it and restore the copy before putting it back in the Trinity, and see how it looks now.

I tried that, but same strange characters are also shown on my PC using the SD adapter. there is even a 4GB eek file in the root directory of the card. everything so strange.
Guess that you will have to do a reformat if possible.
If there is something on the card that you really want to salvage before you do the reformat, then you could try to do this with a file recovery utility.

Actually the Spb backup file would be really helpful Do u recommend any program for trying to recover it??
Thanks
I'm using an old release of WinHex myself.
WinHex is not free, but a trial can be downloaded from here: http://winhex.com/winhex/index-m.html
I'm not sure what limitations there might be in the unlicensed version, but I would recommend giving it a try before looking elsewhere.
I don't have any recent experience with other recovery utilities, but there are a number of them to be found here: http://www.download.com/3120-20_4-0.html?tg=dl-20&qt=recovery&tag=srch
Great, after trying to recover files with Winhex (unsuccessfully), The device doesn't recognize the card anymore, and now it requires a format I give up.
Is there anything I should make to prevent future problems like this??
First of all, should I format it as FAT16 or FAT32?
should I format it on the device or using a card reader?
should I use a specific program for formatting or the default windows application?
Thanks again
sdsentry
Try this - found from the Artemis forum.
It's a preventive measures - not one that can save your already messed up SD.

If you are still looking for a recovery solution, a friend had a similar incident with the 2GB Toshiba SD card on his 818 Pro just last week, and, not counting MP3s stored on the card (which he can restore from his CD library), I managed to recover for him some 90% of the files intact using Ontrack's EasyRecovery Professional.

Since I installed the official HTC GPS upgrade ROM I have had no problems anyway.
I cant get my Tre0 750 to take either WM6 or downgrade to WM5...all I get is SPLASH1-OK , BOOTLOADER-OK, GSM-OK ,MicroP-OK then when it gets to OS---Update Terminate UPDATE FAIL...I am using 2 gb sd formated to fat 32...Any one have any ideas? I have just the tri colored screen TIA
This has been discussed at length, please search the upgrade forum. You need to make sure your card is formatted FAT32, even if you think you did it right do it again. Most all who have had this issue once reformatted again have not had any problems.
I had this issue when updating to WM6. It wound up being that the file was not the full size. Apparently some of the sites that people posted the files to were cutting off the download before it was complete. I would check to make sure. I would think that if it was an issue with the formatting of the SD card that it would not have allowed you to enter the bootloader.
Thanks Albiemanmike and Pderosa..I tried a new mini sdhc card formatted FAT32 with same file and it worked!! Musta been something wrong with the original mini sdhc card...Thanks again for you help !
The only problem I had upgrading my treo was the instructions which are posted throughout many of the sites. In one of them they say push the start button when it says update. what they dont tell you it only flashes for a second then it reverts to the boot screen. The next thing you need to do is push the end button to start the update.
Hello All,
I am having a serious problem with my HTC Wizard and i want a solution for it.
I was running TNT Professional 1933 WM6 ROM on my Wizard then i found some problem with sms notification so i thought to upgrade my Rom.I took backup of my SMS with PIM 2.5 and copied the backup file into my SD Card. Then i removed the SD card and Reinstalled(upgraded) the same TNT Pro 1933 ROM.Everything went fine and the Rom installed properly. After finishing and setting up my device,i inserted the SD Card into my Device and found few files with an unknown extension. The file name were same but with an extension".86e1bece" i.e the original backup file name was 28-10-08 but it changed to "28-10-08.pib.86e1bece".These files shows an icon with a lock in PC and the extension it shows is MENC.
I searched in this forum and found few posts having same problem with a little difference but there was no solution.
I want to know how can i recover these MENC Files in order to recover my precious Data.I need an urgent help in this matter and i hope i will get your replies as soon as possible.
Thanks
Anyone out there????
same hapens to me..anyone have a solution?
I dont think a solution is available for this, they are simply encrypted via WM and its not possible to de-crypt them, unless you got the original handset and its not been hard reset! I have been looking hi and low for this and cant find anything.
I got loads of files that I cant access case I had to carry out a hard re-set.
Apparently the file is encrypted and can be decrypted only on the handset it was encrypted on.
To prevent getting such file type in the future, follow this procedure
Start>Settings>System Tab>Encryption
UnCheck on encryption and after this you will get only normal (Unencrypted file).
Another way is the activesync way. Transfer the file from the handset to pc via ActiveSync, it will automatically decrypt and paste the regular format on to your pc.
Hope it helps

I have just stumble into the same problem. I flash my HD with a new ROM and found out that all my jpg and other files were not readable.
My solution (if you will call it) is to reinstall the old ROM and unticked the encrypt memory card option. You should be able to read the menc files back from the PDA.
After that back-up all your memory card data and re-format your PDA with the new ROM.
Lastly, copy the back-up back into the memory card if anything goes wrong.
Good luck
Thanx alot bro...

That works for you?

Yes it work for me too.
I got same ploblem with Omnia lite
when I try to enter Boot loader in VOX ..... the first msg on the screen says searching for SD card... and it enters the Bootloader mode......the Color strips....
but nothing happens after that ..!!!!
any suggestions ??
What do you want to do?
I am trying to load the HTC diagnostic file.....named as vox0diag.nbh
please see my earlier post for trying to Format FAt of my Vox and suggest.
thanx
Why would you want to format your Vox? I know it loads vox0img.nbh through the boot loader, I don't know if it does that with this file naming scheme!
thanx for the Quick reply....
this a diagnostic file that HTC service centers use for VOX.
I read about it in the Technical Manual of VOX that laid my hands on thru' a friend of mine.
My VOX is dropping calls i,e. you can hear the Phone Ring but I have NO Indication that I hav an incoming call.
I thought that Formating and then loading a New ROM with New Radio Version could perhaps solve the problem....
BTW I hav tried nearly all ROM's and Radio Version's available on the XDA:FTP
That is why all this exercise....
any more help will be really appreciated...

sd should be formatted as fat16 - fat32 or cards bigger than 2gb may not work
if u want just format sd card then use wmstorage and under windows mount phone as external disk - .. just format it as normal removable disk
can you put this file somewhere for download ?

Check it out

Some confusion here it seems:
@indtram:
Did you get your hands on a vox0diag.nbh file or did you just read about this in the manual?
Regarding Flashing via the boot loader:
1.) the card must be a NON-SDHC card, i.e. 2GB or smaller
2.) this card must be FAT or FAT32 formatted, NTFS is no option
3.) the flash file must be named vox0img.nbh for normal flash files
4.) the bootloader will ONLY load correctly signed .nbh files - cooked ones don't work
5.) if the card carries the right "Gold key" in its boot sector, the bootloader will allow also vendor independent flashing - yet correctly signed is a must, at least for the normal boot-loaders that come with official ROMs.
If anyone has got hold on this vox0diag.nbh, please put it to the XDA FTP.
active sync on my XP cpu, and Windows Mobile Device center on my windows 7 PC both disconnect from my phone when I try to reflash it. everything else works... Please Help!!!!!
Have you tried flashing using the sd card method?
Take your cooked rom and look for the nbh file. Format your sd card and make sure its formatted to fat 32. After the format, copy the nbh file and make sure its renamed to RHODIMG.nbh. Most roms already are named that way but just in case if it isnt, rename it to that. Once its copied, put the sd card back into your phone and put your phone into bootloader mode. (Hold volume down, and hit the soft reset button while holding volume down, and continue holding volume down until you see the multicolor screen) After that, you should see a grey screen. Follow the onscreen instructions and you should be good to go. Hope this helps.
PS. Make sure you put the NBH file in the root directory of the sd card or it wont work. Dont put it in any folder whatsoever.
