Playback of "wmv/wma" in tcpmp on wm6 solved.... - JASJAR, XDA Exec, MDA Pro ROM Development

TCPMP playback issues on WM6 using WMA/WMV format files can be solved as follow:
After I installed WM6 on my universal, I noticed that when you try and play a wma/wmv file with tcpmp it gives you an error that some codec's missing..
Because it worked flawlessly on WM5, I started digging a bit and found that WM5's codec files "names" has changed in WM6, thus making it unable for tcpmp to find the wm* codec files.
All you need to do is: (DO NOT OVERWRITE ANY FILES ON YOUR WM6 DEVICE)
Step1: Find the following 2 files in your "\windows\" (WM6 devices) directory: "wma9prodecoder.dll" & "wmv9decoder.dll" and copy them onto your local pc.
Step2: Rename the copied files as follows: From "wmv9decoder.dll" to "wmvdecoder.dll" & From "wma9prodecoder.dll" to "wmadecoder.dll" .
Step3: Copy the renamed files onto your device in the "\windows\" folder.
Enjoy.....

Could you upload that two files?
I found that it dose not allowed me to copy that to any other folder.
THX

Just had this same issue with my Tilt, and this fixed it - thanks! (good old search on XDA-developers!)
Found that trying to rename or copy the files wasn't allowed, using Resco Explorer, so I got the 2 files above that galt points to, and copied them into Windows.
Now I can stream www.thestreamcenter.com/pda again! (It used to work using WMP before I installed TCPMP, but once TCPMP was installed, it became the default and always starts up when I click on a site in IE. I don't know how, or if, you can stop TCPMP from jumping in - if I could just let WMP handle these particular streams that would have been fine, but I don't see an option in TCPMP to give up trying to handle them.)

i am currently using these codecs, and the WMA works flawlessley, however, the WMV has rather choppy playback, is there a way around this?
thanks in advance

Thank you for this!

these worked great thx!!!
and to get them to play less choppy choose video quality and use low or lowest - low usually works better - it aint great quality but its smooth at least!!
thx for the help!!!!

cant play mpg-mpeg on xdalls

hi guys, if i download any movie clips in mpg or mpeg on my xdalls i cant play them,it instructs me to run the program first which leaves me confused,i have wm10 and real player installed, any help appreciated.
thanks
any help at all would be greatly appreciated guys , do i need a codec of some sort or another type of program?
thanks in advance
http://tcpmp.corecodec.org/about
thanks for the link but it was useless, they were files that i couldnt use,i downloaded on pc, un zipped and expected to be able to runa program but this was not possible as they were unknown files.
http://corecodec.org/frs/download.php/366/tcpmp.arm.cabs.0.71.zip
download this file, then extract the cab file which is inside, then copy the cab to your device, then run it, then it will install, and after that a new icon will pop in programs menu, then start it, then open the file you wish to play, then watch it.
i can not write it simpler, sorry
thanks, thats straight forward enough.
as my laptop is in for repairs to the motherboard im struggling to extract the cab file needed, if some one would be kind enough to give a link to the cab file i would be most gratefull.
thanks for the help guys
try resco explorer it can handle archives, or pocketrar
thanks ,but i already have winzip, the file is a windows setup and i cant open it as its exe.i tried downloadind resco explorer and that is also a exe file, i am limited to my ppc for downloading at the moment, any more sugestions appreciated.
thanks

HTC Home plugin not using Windows directory (quicker)

Hello
I noticed that many installations of HTC Home plugin put their files in Windows directory. This leads to speed problems.
It is better to use the version which puts its files into a separate directory HTCHome.

I thought all rom files went into the \Windows directory and that only via initfiles.dat (I think that's the file) would files be copied elsewhere (ie, using up double the space).
Please, correct me if I am wrong. Also, how do you put ROM files in a location other than \Windows?
I've re-heated a couple ROMS with the update HTCHome plugin that uses a server other than htc.accuweather.com because TMob has problems with it. It orginally pointed to \HTCHome for some of the files so I had to change the HTCHome.dll to use \Windows instead otherwise I would need to copy those needed files to \HTCHome which was a waste of space. I don't notice any slowness with it running from \Windows though. YMMV.
Using other location then Windows is good when adding the plugin later (I mean when it is not part of the original ROM).
HTC Home plugin has many files and when these are added to Windows it slows down significantly booting times/showing the content of Windows directory.
I think that if the plugin is part of the ROM there is not the speed problem. I had it as part of a Whiterat's ROM and it was ok.
But installing HTC Home which puts its files to Windows to TNT 4.0 rom (which does not have it) lead to a lot of problems...
The above mentioned version is ok - I installed it on TNT 4.0 without having any problems.

tekknogenius, can you please share your .dll so that those of us who want to use the weather server workaround on T-Mobile, can do so on other cooked roms?

I disabled the HTC Home plug-in, then overwrote the existing HTCHome.dll, but when I go to re-enable it, it is no longer in the list of Today items.
I tried to enable it manually through the registry, but no luck

TCPMP + Flash Video Bundle not working on Samsung Epix

I've tried the method described here but with no luck:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=364978
Step One Uninstall your TCPMP and Flashbundle player. Yes you have to install TCPMP and Flashbundle all over. I read you had to do this or else it wont work properly.
Step Two Install TCPMP (a media player that is used to play many files. For example youtube videos ). When you install it chose to install it to your SD card.
Step Three Copy the NEW Flashbundle cab (the one I provided) to the program folder that was created for TCPMP on your SD card
Step Four Once you copied the Flashbundle Cab to the TCPMP folder run the Flashbundle Cab from there and chose to install it to the SD card instead of local memory.
Step FiveSoft Reset
Has anyone here tried to get TCPMP and FVB working with the Epix? I would've liked to post this in the Epix discussion, but I could not find the Epix on the front page.

.mp3 does'net play

Hey guys. I've got the following problem:
If i try to open some .mp3 files the WMP says:
"Cannot play the file. The file is either corrupted or the player does not support the format you are trying to play." but they aren't neither corrupt nor not supported: They work fin on my PC and it's no problem for WMP to play other .mp3 files. The MortPlayer can play the files without any problems.
I tried this: http://support.microsoft.com/?scid=kb;en-us;889762&x=10&y=13
But the files aren't even show in my libary.
Could anyone plz help me? I want to use S2P
I'm using the newst Onyx-Rom Wm 6.5.
THX!
