How 2 change vodafone start menue background to standard? - HTC Vox

Hi all,
I own a Vodafone VDA V (=HTC Vox). I have chosen the Windows standard start page with standard color scheme and standard background.
Everything appears fine, but only the backgound picture of the startmenue (where all the programs and preferences are) is still the "striped" greyish vodafone background.
Any ideas how to change this in the registry and what the name of the standard background picture is to which I then would referr to in the registry?!
TIA

All the standard icons are on the vodafone rom to get them there are 2 ways easy or registry changing
Now if you are really lazy and want to clear all your vodafone icons and change the start menu order then try the following app IBE tweaks ,
choose the image options in the menu
Now change the following for the icons
input phone number up .... windows\ms_mobile.gif , that gets rid of the grey vodafone icon and gives you the smartphone strip
for warnings ect ...
error promt ...windows\yell.gif
warning promt'...windows\yell.gif
information promt ... windows\info.gif
question promt ...windows\ques.gif
earphone volume ...windows\volume.gif
To get rid of the grey smartphone start menu background change start menu option to a photo you own , then choose save , after that go back and delete the startmenu option you just did and it will make the start menu go back to the original windows mobile colours
choose other options/menu startmenu sequence to change the start menu to what you want
The call screen has to be edited with a good reg editor go to ...
HKLM\security\phone\skin\PROGRESS\portrait\other and change the bmpnormal to cprogback.png
then go back and do the same in landscape and you will have the nice jet black calling backround
the application IBE tweaks comes with a 3 day trial so enough time to change your vodafone icons and start up screens if you want that changed as well just the reg needed for the calling screen
http://www.ibegroup.com/viewitem.aspx?ProductID=104
You can also do the above through resco registry ( as i did ) or simular but it takes longer
dont forget when you have finished back up your phone with sprite so if you hard reset it then its quick to get it back to vodafone free mode
problem solved

@wabbit
Can you please give a pointer to the registry keys to edit instead of using the tweak tool? Many thanks!

Yes please, describe how to change above mentioned with registry editor instead of ibe!
TIA

you can simply use the Modaco de-brand tool for free
i used it on my voda french and everything is ok, just bootscreen
HTML:
http://www.modaco.com/SPV-E650-de-Brand-Fix-P-t255845.html

the e650 de brand tool does not work as it adds folders that are not on the vodafone version which has alot of programmes in media which is not on the rom , you can use it but then you need to use a good explorer exe to delete the incorrect icons and folders , using the app i stated which has a 3 day trial ( enough time to change the icons and then delete it as the app is not required anymore )

well, it worked fine for me, it just added a java shortcut that doesn't work...
i'm still searching for a tool to remove ugly 'welcome' and 'good-bye' screens

Getting rid of the Vodafone welcome and good-bye screens would indeed be very nice
Thanks to wabbit - awesome!!
I got an "Access Denied" when I tried to alter my call screen through the registry (using MobileRegistryEditor.exe) but I guess my phone's locked? I need to research that more. Might explain why some other stuff that I've tried doing had little effect

Quick search of the forum later and phone app unlocked and the final bit done. Nice one!!

Sadly my vodafone s710 is being repaired as the joypad fell off as soon as i get it back i will post all the reg keys needed so you can tweak it yourselfs including removing the vodafone startup and shutdown screens

Vodafone screens
Any news for the voda on and off screens ??

hello I had found this on a chinese forum, work greats on a french SPV E650. hope this can help you.
Thanks but after installation it says no home screen layouts can be found. install a valid home screen layout and then it using the Home Screen items in the settings. Plus after installation some extra program icons comes in the start menu for which the application is not present like mp3 player etc kindly help
for the layout you must set all field to default (color and background) and may be restart phone. For mp3 player maybe it's the new player that I have found on the same forum, but I have not try it so I can't say you if after install it it wiil be ok or not. you can't delete anyitems in the menu but you can add some (on the menu go to last windows and in Application add shortucut (so it's start -> more-> more -> 9 -> menu -> 2 ) hope this help you
edit: in fact I think it was for wm5 cause for exemple shortcut of task manager don't work... sorry

Lost 3d Menu of HTC S710
I did a Hardreset of my HTC S710, But after the hard reset the 3D menu screen is gone. This is strange as it should be inbuilt in the ROM. Do we have to install 3D Menu separetely and if yes where can I have the application to install so that I can have the 3D menu display back on my S710.
Earlier there was an Application folder having 3-4 application like calculator 2d-3d menu, now the folder is not there.
One more thing before hard reset in setting-home screen there was around 13-14 (i/c HTC 3d) home screen layout, but now there are only 7 left.
Voice Commander for HTC s710
Oh at last, I have managed these 3d Menu for HTC D710, but unfortunately I came to know later that I have also been lost Voice Commander,
Cab any one help me?
any clue on how to get the 3d menu back onto my s710?
Its very simple, 3D Menus are available at service center, for which you have to visit your nearest service center, and you will get installed these menu again on your phone.
Un-fortunately MS Voice command is not available at anywhere, but the service engineer has assured me that it will be available very soon.
mmm but i cant find a local service here, I live in Peru... i hope someone will post the files to get back the 3d menus
Okay If you really need, mail me at [email protected]
Great Finally Got It
Yes .. finally got the original s710 (India) 3D Menu. I am enclosing for all those who were on a lookout for the same. I deleted this once I did Hard Reset of the device. This was possible due to Mr. Gagan from the authorised service House of HTC in India.. He deserve Kudos.. he really followed up with the HTC to get it for me..
Cool, I would really like this app as well ... but is it only in indian? Whats the difference between the indian and english?
There is No difference between Indian and English. Indian also use English in mobile. 3D menu are same
In above cab file only 3d Menus are given, but after hard reset you also need to install Info feed, Screen Bug Fix (Remove Right side Color Patch on portrait mode), Cyberian Voice Command. I am attaching the complete package which require to be install after hard reset to bring the phone in original factory setting.
The right method to installation is : Copy all the file from folder (named SerPack HTC S710) to Storage Card and restart the handset.
But there is another one problem still exist. After hard reset the color quality of default Calculator is degraded, just like 32Bit color to 16Bit Color in WinXP.
If any one have any idea please help.

HTC Touch Pro Today Screen Issue

Hey all. I am having issues with my today screen on my HTC Touch Pro with Windows Mobile 6.1. I am uanble to change the Wallpaper at all. It is stuck on a Blue wallpaper. I have tried setting it from The today screen theme changer and from My Pictures but selecting the "Set as Today Screen Wallpaper" Option. The Wallpaper will not change. I am extremely frustrated with this. I have only had this phone for 5 days. Please help.
NOTE: I am Using SPB Mobile Shell V 2.1.1 Build 3507 for all my shortcuts. But my issue is with the Actual windows Mobile 6 Today Screen.
Change Wallpaper on Touch Pro
You need to go to the touch 3D settings.. its on the scroll touch bar after weather and internet etc. Thats where you change the wallpaper. I did a hard reset before figuring it out. Good luck!!
you can't change wallpapers while it's controlled by your theme file. in TF3D you can change the format of the plugin itself by inside configuration, as ninfem posted.. but if you want to change the today screen background you will have to find a tsk that doesn't contain a wallpaper
RE:Change Wallpaper on Touch Pro
This has nothing to do with TF3D I am not even using TouchFlo. See notes under original Post. I am using SPB Mobile Shell 2.4 . And I did fix it. I had to download the Registry editing tool and deleting the Fixed wallpaper Registry key. Do not remember the exact string but all is well now. Thanks for trying.
Scott
Hi can you please tell me how you fixed it. i am having the same problem
my email is [email protected]
HTC Touch Pro Today Screen Issue: Fixed
I had to download the Windows Mobile Registry Editor. Found here http://freewareppc.com/utilities/phmregistryeditor.shtml and I searched for Wallpaper. It had an Embedded Wallpaper. I deleted the Registry key for the Embedded wallpaper and have not had a problem with it since. It has been months ago Since I did it so I can't tell you anymore than that but all you need is PHM Registry Editor. GOOD LUCK!
having the same issue. Deleting the registry key, turning off touch flo, and soft resetting at least 3 times now. Won't go away. Stuck on some stupid blue background I can't get it to go away.
solution for touch flo users
I know the original poster is not using touch flo (see regisry hack). For those of you using touch flo I did the following which worked for all of the themes. I unchecked use this picture as the background, under start settings today. Closed that window and from the main touch flo screen (home) I scrolled to the right and selected settings (looks like a gear) and then wallpaper. Select the wallpaper of your choice and it shows up. No soft reset or registry hacks necessary. Not very intuitive but it worked.
I'm having the same problem. Can't get rid of the background image in the Today screen (when mobile is in locked mode) and the background image in Settings > All settings.
I've installed PHM Registry Editor, but I don't really have the skills to fix it. Please let us know in this thread if anyone figure it out.
Can't really understand why this problem happens.
Weird! Now the normal Today background image is back. Can't understand why. This smart phone is smarter than me...
Still, the settings background is not the right image.
i have one of my photos saved as my backround wallpaper, i have deleted this picture, but it is still my backround and i cant change it. the only thing i have loaded is an analog fire clock (had to do a soft reset) what do i do, please help.
Resolution.
Peace of cake
HTC Touch Pro 2,
Settings, All settings - Press "Today"
Use any theme and any picture you want HOWEVER,
Under Items tab, YOU MUST CHECK "HTC SENSE" Press ok, you are set.
If you don't check this you get a blank wall paper or the other things you may have checked only. Really simple! :-D But yes I had to figure it out

Missing YouTube app

i bought my Touch2 from Orange, it's branded (i don't mind) but thous guys deleted the YouTube app from the ROM.
i downloaded the YouTube app for Qvga devices, it works fine, but i cannot scroll down (because I don't have a D-pad) and there is no scroll bar on the app.

Same here, damn orange. Regarding orange branding, if found that you can enable google maps widget by editing the registry HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\HTC\Manila2D:LocationWidget and set DWORD to 1. You must have google maps installed to work.
Another problem is the internet widget where all kind of orange services icons appear. The problem is that they created a new key in internet widget that they called HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\HTC\Manila2D\InternetWidget\CustomizedGridView. The old Key "Customized" is still there but the phone uses only CustomizedGridView. I tried to delete the CustomizedGridView hoping the Customized key will take over but the tab now was empty. Does anyone know what or where should I edit the phone or registry so that uses the Customized key settings, not the ugly Orange branded CustomizedGridView.

[App] QuickMenu for HD2 (WWE and NOR)

I had problems finding a working version of QuickMenu for HD2, so I modified my own .cab a bit. I hope this will help others as well. Im attaching a version for norwegian ROM and also for the WWE.
If anyone want to use it on other languages, the only modification after installation is to change 0409 to your own local code in the files:
Program Files\Qmenu\QMenuCfg.dll.0409.mui
Program Files\Qmenu\QuickMenu.exe.0409.mui
and then in the settings of QuickMenu change the path for your local start menu.
so do we lost the original wm6.5 start menu?
no, the original start menu is stil present if you click on the text "start" instead of the actual start menu icon. you can also choose yourself in the settings whether the start menu hardware key will open Quick Menu, or windows' original start menu =)
This is awesome! Thx
Only issue I don't like is that it removes the built in taskmanager that can be accessed by pressed the top right corner by the battery.
Can't both be present?
Does somebody have a volume buttons problem after installing?
ROM 1.48.405 (and smth.)
Niiiice!
There are a couple of spelling errors in the Quick menu in WWE:
'Execute' rather than 'Excute'
'Options' rather than 'Option'.
Is there a way to show user defined icons rather than the system defaults in the menus as many will have installed a different set?
Great!
It works very, very well with HTC HD2!
Congratulations and thanks a lot!
JC
Thanks, works very well in conjuction with WM 6.5.x (except the interception of the close button)
Very finger friendly when you set the "Menu item edge" to 15 or more.
Thanks for sharing

*working* QuickMenu for HD2
hi guys, I've seen several threads on QM for HD2. I've been using a version which I picked up somewhere, and has worked flawlessly for all HD2 ROMs I've tried so far.
I also commented in this thread.
Quote from that thread:
I've been using QM since I saw it in one of nrg28 ROMs. the version I downloaded (no clue where from) behaves differently:
- no action if I tap the battery button, other than notification bar showing
- QM is activated by pressing left-top on taskbar (where previous Start was, now typically black area)
- and, and this is the best part imho, it is activated by a short press on the Windows HW button no need to reprogram long press of Send or End button. brilliant!

for me the original had size and placement issues. this is the only version i found out to work on my HD2 after a few small tweaks of the cab
Hi
I just try it on my Hd2 with Greek language. Is working ok but I see no letters
at all. How can I see the letters? how can I do that with the language?
Can you give me some details how to do it since I'm new om WM devices?
Thank you.
I added the files below. mui for the Polish language and complete an application with the Polish language
Excellent app., this is what I need instead of SPB Mobile Shell (worked great on my Touch Diamond 1, but not on the HD2).
Been looking for these features
- Closing apps from the Today screen
- Reboot function
And handy (but less important)
- Starting apps
- Managing connections
Thank you !

Enabling some HTC/TouchFLO features only

Hi,
I've been using my HTC Touch2 for a while now.
I decided to turn of the TouchFLO homescreen as it seems to use a lot of my free memory. I use a customized (used Home Screen Customizer - free from the marketplace) , default WM6.5 home screen now. It makes it faster ^^
The indicator raised from 45% to 70% in a day with all apps closed...
But TouchFLO also had a nice additional feature - all 'dropdown menu's ' or whatever you'd call it on a phone became way more touch friendly. (Those that open when holding your finger in file explorer for example, or when you click file in pocket word)
Is there a way to enable these menu's without enabling touchFLO?
I also prefer the HTC settings panels, that were only accessible from the TouchFLO home screen. I already found the sound settings (htcsoundsettings.exe) but I wonder if anyone knows more .exe files - for selecting backgrounds etc. Or a list of all files in the windows folder by default - it takes ages to load, when sorting is accidently set to 'File type' it takes like 15 minutes sometimes...
Also I'd like to add links to the settings menu of the start menu but so far I've only been able to add icons to the start menu or other subfolders and not the settings one
Thanks in advance,
JSO
Have you tried M2DCustomizer? If you mean saving up battery u might wana try custom roms
No, thank you for the link I'm sure it will help me.
But it didn't really help me out with my question - can I keep just the dropdown menu's without anabling TouchFLO/Manila2D from the Home Screen settings...

Hello, having read your message hope I understand well. You want a combination of features but foremost a lot of free Ram. Touch flow takes if I am correct 8-12Mb which your device should be able to handle.
This tweak will help you with Ram consumption aswell as regular soft reset or Ram cleaner.....several available on XDA.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\HTC\ResProxy\ShareMemS ize=0 (Increase free memory)
I agree with member Deepak that choosing a custom Rom offers best of both worlds. But also here you have to make the choice Touch flow or not.....having only parts is not possible (unless built in Rom).
Thanks all for your effort, but I think I finally found something:
/showthread.php?t=540922 (can't post link because my account is not approved )
This allows me to disable touchFLO while still using the nice menu's; downloading right now
Yeah, used this on my previous Rom (WM 6.1) aswell. Was not happy with the result since it did not work flawless.....dissappear after soft reset, not working with some programs etc.
But see if it works for you. Success.
