How 2 change vodafone start menue background to standard?

Hi all,
I own a Vodafone VDA V (=HTC Vox). I have chosen the Windows standard start page with standard color scheme and standard background.
Everything appears fine, but only the backgound picture of the startmenue (where all the programs and preferences are) is still the "striped" greyish vodafone background.
Any ideas how to change this in the registry and what the name of the standard background picture is to which I then would referr to in the registry?!

All the standard icons are on the vodafone rom to get them there are 2 ways easy or registry changing
Now if you are really lazy and want to clear all your vodafone icons and change the start menu order then try the following app IBE tweaks ,
choose the image options in the menu
Now change the following for the icons
input phone number up .... windows\ms_mobile.gif , that gets rid of the grey vodafone icon and gives you the smartphone strip
for warnings ect ...
error promt ...windows\yell.gif
warning promt'...windows\yell.gif
information promt ... windows\info.gif
question promt ...windows\ques.gif
earphone volume ...windows\volume.gif
To get rid of the grey smartphone start menu background change start menu option to a photo you own , then choose save , after that go back and delete the startmenu option you just did and it will make the start menu go back to the original windows mobile colours
choose other options/menu startmenu sequence to change the start menu to what you want
The call screen has to be edited with a good reg editor go to ...
HKLM\security\phone\skin\PROGRESS\portrait\other and change the bmpnormal to cprogback.png
then go back and do the same in landscape and you will have the nice jet black calling backround
the application IBE tweaks comes with a 3 day trial so enough time to change your vodafone icons and start up screens if you want that changed as well just the reg needed for the calling screen

You can also do the above through resco registry ( as i did ) or simular but it takes longer
dont forget when you have finished back up your phone with sprite so if you hard reset it then its quick to get it back to vodafone free mode

you can simply use the Modaco de-brand tool for free
i used it on my voda french and everything is ok, just bootscreen

the e650 de brand tool does not work as it adds folders that are not on the vodafone version which has alot of programmes in media which is not on the rom , you can use it but then you need to use a good explorer exe to delete the incorrect icons and folders , using the app i stated which has a 3 day trial ( enough time to change the icons and then delete it as the app is not required anymore )

well, it worked fine for me, it just added a java shortcut that doesn't work...
i'm still searching for a tool to remove ugly 'welcome' and 'good-bye' screens

Getting rid of the Vodafone welcome and good-bye screens would indeed be very nice

I got an "Access Denied" when I tried to alter my call screen through the registry (using MobileRegistryEditor.exe) but I guess my phone's locked? I need to research that more. Might explain why some other stuff that I've tried doing had little effect

Quick search of the forum later and phone app unlocked and the final bit done. Nice one!!

Sadly my vodafone s710 is being repaired as the joypad fell off as soon as i get it back i will post all the reg keys needed so you can tweak it yourselfs including removing the vodafone startup and shutdown screens

Can you confirm that the HTC Today plugin is working with your Wizard? By that I mean does it have a tab in your Today section? I found two plugins, one installed and had the tab in the Today section. It did not show up on the main screen even after soft resets and a cold boot. I ran two included cabs that supposedly might fix the prob. Next I found another install noted by an customizer app for this plugin... the plugin and app work, but no Today item so I can change the amount of tabs, etc. This is a cool item, but full I haven't found a full functioning version yet for my wizard

the plugin works on my wizard.
i installed the file and did a soft reset. after that the plugin shows up on the todayscreen. under settings - today its calles Quick launcher.
1. tab: htc album
2. tab: htc action screen
3. tab: camera
4. tab: htc audio manager
5. tab: phone
i don´t know how to change the tabs, but if you want it to work, you should have installed album and action screen

How to change my menu (S710)

hi,
I'm like the biggest noob on smartphones but i got myself an S710,
I mannaged to get myslef a new homescreen but now i'm stuck with the same old boring menu... I really want to change it but i've searched en searched but i didnt find anything! can u guys help me out?

what exactly do u mean by menu.... are u referring to the screen u get when u press start? if yes then i would say that the device comes with the Windows Standard menu as well as the HTC 3D menu... u can choose settings and then there is an application in the start menu called 2D - 3D... that switches between the windows default and the HTC 3D menu

No i've got that 3d menu but it kinda sucks...
I want to customize it or maybe change the layout.
Isnt there any onther menu for the VOX then the standard and that 3d menu?

WM6.5 Start Menu

Okay,
I may stand alone here, but I HATE the new start menu that comes with WM6.5.
Does anyone know of a way to get rid of it and go back to the functional old style one from WM6.1?

Some Tips of Using QuickMenu.
Also I assume there should be some regitweaks to re-activate the classic StartMenu, keep searching and post here!

Start -> Settings -> Today
Click on the 'Items' tab at the bottom.
Uncheck 'Windows Default' to get rid of the crappy sliding menu, and while you are here, select the options you want on the Today page, and arrange them in whatever order you require.
Click OK until you are back at the Today Start page.
Viola!

You can't do it.
The new menu is selected as 'Windows Default'. When it is selected, it unchecks all the others.
It's all or nothing. Old menu style and move stuff about, or new menu style but you are stuck with its layout.

you havent understand, in windows default(actually i like this new home screen) i want to reoreder "tabs", first is picture(it says no photos because i dont know how to change default folder in pictures and videos) second music....and i want that first is clock than text than music than pictures...
so i dont want to change order of old homescreen, i want to change order in new win default home screen!!

It can only be done through a registry tweak.
Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\CHome
And change keyname ExtensibilityXML to
<Plugins Order="CClock;CMyPhotos;CMusic;CWelcomeCenter;CPhone;CVoicemail;CText;CEmail;CAppointments;CHomeFavs;CWindowsLive" CPRFileName="Titanium" DisplayStyle="Titanium" />
Or similar, depending on what is in it in the first place.
Go to Start -> Settings -> Today -> 'Items', uncheck 'Windows Default' and press OK (To deactivate it)

The Clock is now at the top!
P.S. This was discovered by messing around with the 6.5 emulator images, and using VS remote tools to read/edit the emulator's registry. Just check the keys on a real phone are the same or similar.

Or Dotfred's Start Menu which runs as a service. No .exe to start.Running from the start button.

I´m quite happy with start menu of 6.5 you can reorder it or what ever you want
But also htchome is nice and less RAM eating!

It seems to be not very easy to skin / change anything on the today screen / startmenu on WM6.5

if someone doensn't know - 2 mb mem is lost by that new..by that fail.
lets say i need these 2 mb.
i am not interested in cpr edits - it is not that idea(cutting cpr insides off provides these 2 mb, BUT - it is not good idea).
do not tell me about quick menu - i am using it since i found it, but - again - IT IS NOT the idea - 2 mb is lost by that ridiculous m$ menu, still.
old shell32 and aygshell is not method too - provides instability and functions loss.
i checked EVERY line of dlls related to find potential clue, there is NO reg value in hexes that provides old menu there....
sad to see, that cotulla stopped working on it...
i assume, it may be something not really possible, then. ;/

dude, plz..i am rommaker,
i can clearly see why i want what i want - 6.5 provides outstanding flash(vide - flashtros, cracktros) experience i need;
it provides amazing performance of emulators i am using(snes, sega, atari xl, neogeo etc).
it provides very good pdf and cbr loading times too.
my question is clearly technical.
i am using asus p525 and i can UNDERCLOCK it to (still) have 100% snes emulation with maxxed out sound on 23017(try this on htc lol), it is amazing, trust me.
i need that power, BUT i need more RAM free.
i got rid of every thing i could like titanium, keyboards, wisplite, useless m$ today plugins, and much more, and i still need MOAR memory free.
of course, if someone knows, how to make wm03 mem management available to use with 6.x, i would be pleased hearing it...
then i could have 80 mb mem free, not 29 ffs.
are there GOOD maniacs to tell me some NOT common ideas?

Well Dude. I don't care about emulators, games and so on. If you can come up with some interesting featues of 6.5 I 'll be glad to read about it.Hmm. I just started to make a ROM too, 6.5 I din't like it.

Me too already stuck on the same issue for a while.
By now what I know is:
You can kill the WM65 start menu in several ways, like using WkTask or MagicButton, or null the cpr.
But once you kill it you must have a replacment, otherwise will lose UI. By now QuickMenu is still best replacement.
I've only noticed that on some Samsung Ominia devices running earlier builds of WM65 they can recall the WM61 classic start menu by a start.exe.
I've asked somebody to upload that file with no response.
I've also downloaded several ROMs from Modaco, but I can not use HTC ROM Emige Editor toeextract files from them.

[App] QuickMenu for HD2 (WWE and NOR)

I had problems finding a working version of QuickMenu for HD2, so I modified my own .cab a bit. I hope this will help others as well. Im attaching a version for norwegian ROM and also for the WWE.
If anyone want to use it on other languages, the only modification after installation is to change 0409 to your own local code in the files:
Program Files\Qmenu\QMenuCfg.dll.0409.mui
Program Files\Qmenu\QuickMenu.exe.0409.mui
and then in the settings of QuickMenu change the path for your local start menu.

no, the original start menu is stil present if you click on the text "start" instead of the actual start menu icon. you can also choose yourself in the settings whether the start menu hardware key will open Quick Menu, or windows' original start menu =)

'Options' rather than 'Option'.
Is there a way to show user defined icons rather than the system defaults in the menus as many will have installed a different set?

Thanks, works very well in conjuction with WM 6.5.x (except the interception of the close button)
Very finger friendly when you set the "Menu item edge" to 15 or more.

i dont know about this, but why would you need it when this menu got its own task manager, both a list of open programs and a link to "task manager" ? =)

hi guys, I've seen several threads on QM for HD2. I've been using a version which I picked up somewhere, and has worked flawlessly for all HD2 ROMs I've tried so far.

for me the original had size and placement issues. this is the only version i found out to work on my HD2 after a few small tweaks of the cab

I just try it on my Hd2 with Greek language. Is working ok but I see no letters
at all. How can I see the letters? how can I do that with the language?
Can you give me some details how to do it since I'm new om WM devices?

Excellent app., this is what I need instead of SPB Mobile Shell (worked great on my Touch Diamond 1, but not on the HD2).
Been looking for these features
- Closing apps from the Today screen
- Reboot function
And handy (but less important)
- Starting apps
- Managing connections
