Hi
I have the above app but I cant the installation CAB to put it on my PDA, can anyone adise what its called and where it's located at all please?
Thanks
PB
there's a cab file in 'PDA' folder amoungst the program files in my installation. MM say to install from the UI (pda menu) though so I'm not sure if this cab will work as a direct method - be keen to know though as I can't get my version to install to my elf from the app. Let me know how you get on if you try it!
Keith
With MM running on the PC and the mobile device connected via AS simply select "Mobile Device" / "Install Pocket Navigator" this selection from the menu bar will install the application to your device, then work out which part of the map you need on the mobile unit and transfer that over.
Don't try putting a full map section onto the PDA/ Phone as it will not be capable of opening it, just use the "send visible portion of map" to load sections of map - I tend to keep the map size below 150MB when using a PDA - Mike
Thanks Mike I completely missed that one...
Its easily missed to be honest, when I switched to MM5 I had to search for the PDA install as it was quite different to what I was used to - hope you have it all working now though - Mike

Hiding Sim-Contacts
Hello
I try to translate from my German Vox.
First you go to the settings.
Select the telefonsettings.
Tene select Callingoptions or Calloptions ( German : Anrufotionen )
There you can see "show Sim-Contacts".
I hope in Eu-Versions it is the same and my english is not tooooo bad.
THANK YOU!
IT WORKED!!!!!
Now can you solve the solution why this thing LAGS and is SO SLOW?!?!
I dont know if comming from a tytn makes it seem like this, but to me this device it wayyyyy tooooo slowwww
the CPU is hardly worthy of WM6
use Omapclock and speed it up
i run 252mhz and it's more than enough for me
im tryin to do that now but it doesnt seem to work on resume!
i installed omap clock plus as well.... whenever the phone comes out of hibernate, the clock is set back to origional speed.
do you know how to fix this ??????
what version of omapclock are you using?
Thanks for that tip about contacts, dietmarr
BTW, i did get a pouch with my Vox!!
Regarding overclocking, JDRoss over at MoDaCo posted the below tip. Works like a charm!
Here's what you need:
omapclock application (available here)
tornado power control application (available here)
Download the CAB files for each and install like you would any application. That means copying them to your S710 via bluetooth or ActiveSync, and then running them on your phone to start the application setup process.
Now you need to link the two together. How? Well, the nature of the tornado control application is to launch files based on internal phone events. In this situation, the way to do this is to create "link" filetypes that instantiate omapclock with command line variables to set the appropriate CPU speed.
As a result, you need to create 3 link-type files (.lnk) in the same directory as the tornado application on your S710:
(the first line is the file name, and the 2nd line is exactly what I typed in notepad on my PC before saving the file as a .lnk file):
Power_On.lnk
40#"\Program Files\TornadoPowerControl\OmapClock.exe" -clock 252
Power_Backlightoff.lnk
40#"\Program Files\TornadoPowerControl\OmapClock.exe" -clock 186
Power_UserIdel.lnk
40#"\Program Files\TornadoPowerControl\OmapClock.exe" -clock 186
Once these .lnk files are saved on your PC, you can use ActiveSync or bluetooth to move the files to the \Program Files\TornadoPowerControl directory. Once there, you're almost ready to go...
You also need to create a link file type (I call the file TPC.lnk) and put it in the windows/startup folder so that Tornado Power Control loads automatically upon boot.
Here is my TPC.lnk file contents:
43#"\Program Files\load.exe" -hide "\Program Files\TornadoPowerControl\TornadoPowerControl.exe" bright hide
Note that I'm using a program called "load.exe" (available here) that I simply copied to my /program files/ folder - this is optional, but it makes TPC application run in the background and not show up in task manager (which makes the overclocking even more invisible to the user). Actually, this doesn't always work (since I sometimes see Tornado in task manager), but it's still a nice concept.
Hope this helps.

Please bear with me, as this is my first windows mobile phone and I'm not all too familiar with it.
First problem is, tapping "Launch Browser" on the Internet tab does not work. After thinking about it for a while, I realized that the Opera browser was not installed on my device! Now, as far as I know, it should come already in all devices. So, I downloaded the Opera 9.5 browser off their website. How can I set it up so when I tap "Launch Browser" on the Internet tab, Opera 9.5 will automatically run? Currently tapping it still does nothing.
Second is, I've been hearing about this "Windows" folder in the HTC Touch Pro. I can't seem to locate this. When I browse for it with my computer, the name of the TP's "hard drive" is "\", and then I see the following folders:
Application Data, ConnMgr, Content, Documents and Settings, Music, My Documents, Program Files, cemail (hidden file), pim
Is this root folder the "Windows" folder?
Third thing is, in the "Programs" tab in TF3D, there's this icon there that when I press (looks like the default icon for a folder in Vista), it gives me an error. It says "The file 'wt5jetpr' cannot be opened. Either it is not signed with a trusted certificate, or one of its components cannot be found. If the problem persists, try reinstalling or restoring this file."
There we go, that's all. Thank you, if you've read this far.
I can't help with the Opera thing but as for your Windows folder, it's a system file and hidden. You will have to unhide it in your Vista/XP operating system before you can see it using your PC>
You see, I already enabled the viewing of hidden folders. There aren't any other items other than the ones I listed.
EDIT: I tried creating a folder called "Windows" and Vista tells me I can't, because a folder of the same name already exists.
That's weird.. hidden folders are already enabled and I still can't see it.
Hiya, i'm a bit of a noob myselft with regards to wm6.1 so for the opera issue i dont think i could be much help with that same with the file that wont delete so i hope someone else will answer that, to see ur windows folder though when the phone is connected to the pc open up explorer on ur pc and click on tools/folder options then click on view and make sure either the "hide protected operating system files" box is unchecked &/or the "show hidden system files box is checked and this should let you see the windows folder.
Hope this helps.
EDIT: looks like someone already answered in the time it took me to type that, my own fault for multitasking ...

Same thing as you, when I browse to the device from Windows Explorer.
However, if I go to Tools - Folder Options - View tab and I select "Show hidden files and folders", the Windows directory is displayed.

By the name, it looks like it is JetCet Print 5.
Strange you have these errors. Do you use a custom ROM?
PS: been too slow to answer too. but at least the answers match ;-)
I'm not using a custom rom =\. The rom came with my device.
It's:
1.90.405.1.WWE
It's a HTC Touch Pro T7272
Then I advise you to do a Hard Reset. Opera and JetCet print should be there, and should not give you any certificate errors.
I advise you to read a lot these forums, gather as much info as you can, and experimenting with your device. You have a powerhouse in your hands, you know? you have unlimited possibilities. Any questions should you have must be asked.
Alright, I'll give that a try tomorrow after the day's gone so I have lots of time to figure things out.
Sorry for the double post, but I figure this message won't get read if I simply edit my last post.
Anyways, I hard resetted the device and I got Opera and that printing program working! Thanks creiz.
Just one last thing I'm trying to figure out.. is there any way I can get a custom alarm ring tone without downloading a program? (I'm trying to avoid having to do that if possible)
I have bought a htc tilt and I am wanting to dress up the today screen. I saw the retro clock and I downloaded it to my laptop, but I cannot seem to push it through to my cell phone. Any help would be appreciated, please.

if it's in a cab format than copy the cab to your device and install the cab from your device.
Send it over to your device from your commputer either throubh activesinc (when connected) or WIFI for those who have it, or Bluetooth.
Over Activesinc - Just connect device to computer (Assuming activesinc already installed and set up - if not then do so) then go to my computer, find mobile device and explore it as you would any drive. Then you can just find where you want to place the cab for installation on your device - I create a folder called install - and copy and paste it to the folder- once the cab is on your device - just tap on it to start installing it.
I have noticed that through WIFI, I can just go to view the shared folder on my desktop with my device over the network, click on the cab and it installs on the device even though the cab is not on the device but only on the desktop.
Thank you for the information. I cannot find cab. What does cab mean? This is my first all microsoft phone with vista laptop. I just don't understand the terms.
If I extract a cab file, what have I just done? Where is it at at that point? I know that eventually I want it on my phone. What is the next step toward delivery on the phone? When I check the windows mobile device center there is nothing there to import? to phone. Is there a missing step somewhere between the cabinet file extact and the windows mobile device center? I'm trying to think this through.
Don't extract it, just copy. You are "exporting" not importing.
Go here for how to install a cab
Exactly = Don't do anything with the cab except for transfer it to your device. On your desktop a cab looks like a zip file or a rar file. You might be tempted to unpack it but don't - All you will see is a bunch of stuff that doesn't make sense- Just send it to your device and then tap on it or click it to start installation. Most apps are in cab form; however, some are in exe form and must be installed to your device via your computer through activesinc. Just check the extension - it will either be .cab or .exe
I think I might have sent it to my phone, there were 6 files and when I attempted to send to my phone it said send to phone documents. Where is the phones documents at? I am looking in programs and settings on my phone and I don't see the documents. How can I know where I or if I sent it? Man, I can't believe I've worked all day on this.
stop thread please. I give up. Thank you all who really tried to help me.
Ronald Quint -Documents is in the first tier of folders - Just open file explorer and if you need to click the up soft key (bottom left of screen) then scroll until you see documents - There is also storage card documents if you search through your storage card. I created a special folder just for sending files over, and then move them around afterwards. I created a folder called "install" and send my cabs there. Then I just have to navigate (using file explorer) to the install folder and there is everything I just sent over - Music I send to my music folder however, and movies to my movies folder - to save time. It sounds like you unpacked the cab and sent the files to your device. What you can do is
1. using your computer - open the cab to see what is inside
2. using your device - use search to find each individual file which was sent to your device. (you will find them all in the same place)
then start deleting them
(you could just forget it and leave them be (it shouldn't cause any harm) and just resend the cab to your device (pay attention to where you are sending it. - use file explorer to navigate to where you sent the cab and then click it to install.. Once installed - you can delete the cab from your device.

i need help with this. i really wanna get this working
::UPDATE::
i just installed version 1.0.4 and it worked?????? I cant change any settings though
i still want the new version if someone can help
because inbetween 1.0.4 and 1.1.2 you ned to upgrade to .netcf 3
most phones now come with .netcompact framework 2.0 but ifonz 1.1.2 need 3.5 to work install this and get back to me
i do have 3.5 installed.
on the ifonz thread, i put the framework from the first link on my phone(not the multilanguage one)
the link for ifonz is an exe (not cab) i have downloaded from a couple differnt links and its always a .zip file with ifonz.exe in it
the best way to do this is to go to program file and create a folder called ifoz and uzip the entire contents of the zip folder to it. and then creat a shortcut from the ifonz.exe and paste it ti windows/startmenu/programs
and then soft reset
when the fone boots up then go to start/programs/ifonz an it should work
create the ifonz folder on my phone or on pc?
ok, i made a folder on my pc called "ifonz"
i put that folder in my phone in "my documents"
now, it works but has some problems
when i go to settings, the save and cancel button are huge and i cant click on or scroll thru any of the settings options
and the battery meter, signal strenth, etc icons at the top are big so they are scrunced together and i cant read them??
plz help
what type of phone do you have?, and which version onf the app did you download vga or qvga
when you creat the ifonz folder it has to go in the phone/ theres a folder called program files it needs to go in here
I have an i760 with wm6
ill try putting it in that folder and see if it will work
i really appreciate the help btw
I just put it in that fol;der and its doing the same thing as in my above post
it looks like crap and i cant change settings
the i760 doesnt run on windows and isnt touchscreen so i take it you mean i780
what version did you download
i just checked to make sure. it is an i760 with WM6 and touchscreen
http://www.pocketpccentral.net/samsung_i760.htm
it is version 1.1.2 that im trying to get to work(ifonz)
i have tried that version and 1.0.4 and they both do the same thing
i have tried different downloads and i have uninstalled and reinstalled everything, and done soft resets. i just want this to work
did you download qvga or vga
Sorry
yes, i made sure it was qvga
all the info i looked at said this phone is qvga, correct?
correct now
after you have downloaded ifonz 1.1.2
make a folder in the phone called ifonz in the my device/program files
then unzip the contents of downloaded file into the newly created folder
then soft reset the go to file explorer and to to my device/program files/ifonz
tap and hold on ifonz.exe tap creat shortcut then go to the shortcut (it should apperar at the bottom of the folder
copy and paste it into /my device/windows/start menu/programs
soft reset
then once the phone has rebooted gp to start -> programs and click on the ifonz icon
this should now start ifonz
Well, ifonz starts and works now. Its just not right (large icons and can't change settings.) do you think doing it the way you said will fix the problem?
should do. mind you you caould always try vga version to see how it differs
Alright, thanks for the help. Im gonna have to wait till i get home and ill let you know if it works
no problem
it starts but still acts the same. the save and cancel button work in settings BTW
what other programs do you have running
First, im a complete noob. i just stumbled upon this site today and already done to my phone in 3 hours than i even ever done to a phone period and i want to thank you guys.
Secondly, here is my issue. i have the GPS garmin Mobile 5.0 software for my ATT Fuze. the files for the GPS software are all on my storage card as a " all package up file " without need to install or run a cab file. so the only way i currently lauch the GPS tool in by browsing to my SD card to my garmin folder and then launching the garmin.exe. that is too tedious. i want to be able to go to my programs and see my garmin there, but even better, i want to be able to remap my PPT button to launch my GPS but i cant remapp the GPS since its not a part of my installed APPs. so my question is how do i get my GPS to appears an installed app so i can remapp it to a button on the phone?
you can use resco explorer and select the .exe file and then menu->file->send to->Start menu as Shortcut
thank you so much man. is there another app i can use thats free? the resco app is not, i did use it but its a trial software. i wanted something to keep thats free. any ideas anyone? also, i have decided to keep the Official ATT Raphael US_5.11.502.2 Rom. but I LOVE the clock in the EnergyRom 2/3. Is ther anyway i can get it and add it into my ATT official rom?
use file explorer that comes with wm. find the program tap and hold to get the context menu and hit copy, then go to windows > start menu and hit the right soft key to get a menu and go to edit > paste shortcut. rename it to garmin mobile xt if its not already named right.
Thanks Jack. But im afraid I lost you where you say " then go to windows > start menu and hit the right soft key to get a menu and go to edit > paste shortcut." what right soft key are u refering to?
the one that says menu in the bottom right corner of your screen.
Or...
While still in explorer (after copying the exe for Garmin), navigate to the Windows\Start Menu\Programs folder. Scroll to the bottom, tap and hold. The context menu that pops up will include "Paset Shortcut". Select that.
You will have an item that says "Shortcut to " and whatever the executable file's name is. You can then tap and hold on the shortcut and select "Rename" and rename it to "Garmin" or somesuch.
thats what i said... just figured it would be a little simpler to hit the softkey than find a spot they would have to find for the context menu.
