I recently upgraded to wm6 on nbd 8.0 and now novii says my irda connection is not supported right on startup, and the closes.
does anyone know if novii is workable on wm6. I know the site doesnt say it is but does anyone have some sort of fix to trick the software

so up it on here for the rest of us plz. thanx in advance. i also tried that program on my wing & MDA but it didnt work
in my experience, NoviiRemote worked fine on WM6. just make sure beam is turned on, and the program automatically found the correct IR port (i think COM2)
It works very well. I have 5 years old samsung tv, and it wasnt in database. I just creat new one and learn it from remote controler. Thats all. ANd yeah, com 2.
i have wm6 , nbd 8.0.
the iR isn't weak? can i controll my tv from eg. 5 meters?
hey whee can i get that program??? thanks
interesting...I wonder if this could be used in conjunction with a car alarm remote? I think that'd be kinda cool to lock/unlock my car with my phone....link to the program would be appreciated
anyone know where and if it is worth the money??
it really worked (NBD 7.9)
but the iR range is not so big:/
can anyone help me to get it to work? itll open up, give me the error message and close. I cant change any settings... how do I change to com2 in the registry or something>?
it works perfectly for me on NBD 8.0. This is a very primitive approach and might now work, but you could try hard resetting or reflashing NBD8
also, if this makes any difference, install NoviiRemote to your SD card. that's how I have it working.
last thing, make sure that the IR is enabled in the Wireless Manager
well, I did all that excet the install to storage, Ill give that a try

Novii.tv Claims that there software works on XDA II (compatibility chart) enjoy guys! I have to try it in a few minutes... They also have a hardware called "Blaster" (SD card type), not sure if it is works on XDA/MDA II... But hey we could try this thing... links below...
Products:
http://www.novii.tv/products/
They also have a forum here, which someone claims it works on his XDA II.... links below...
Forum:

The trial version work with my MDA II, I have Sony TV and I used pre-program (Sony1) and it works (distance is around 4-5 feet only).
I think that the SD card hardware(Blaster) will be great add on if it works on PPC. They will going to have Blaster 2 (works on both PPC and Palm OS) this year. I think i'd like to wait for this toy...
Anyone tried this one yet (software)? Seems this product been out there for quite sometime and they trying to perfect it.
Nice, but $25!!
Maybe at $15....
Surur
i tried the trial and it works fine 10 feet at least but i would like to see a button edit feature as well as a button add feature like nevo remote control on the ipaq 3970
Worked for me too, but certainly not 10 feet..shame too cos it would be perfect if it did work from that distance.
Is there any way - not including physically opening the unit - that you can boost the power of the signal without getting a booster SD card?

for people who made the trail software work i'd like to ask which com port they choose because no matter which one i choose i get
Internal IR driver error 303
please write to [email protected]
and it being trailware then i dont really think i'll bother contacting the company
Settings > Connections > Beam > Check "Receive All Incoming Beams".
Then it will work.
duh forgot about it being turned off since i got my bluetooth dongle i havent been using the ir dongle which i guess kinda makes it a bit absolute
well it works now thanks
now i dont have to wrestle the gf over the remote I HAVE THE POWER!!

Well where I'm from, we got Coronation Street and East Enders but we call them soaps but I don't think the remote would know the difference
I recently just changed phones but do not want to get rid of my 8125 since it has built in wifi and I already have a 4gb card for it. What I want to be able to do is strip it of everything not needed to browse the web, play video and mp3, and edit some word documents. How can I go about doing this, or would this even make sense doing. I won't be using this as a phone anymore.
Thank You
you really could just turn the phone portion of the device off through comm manager and keep the wifi on... and you could just use a vanilla WM6 ROM (basic w/o any extra programs) to avoid any other programs on the phone from the flash.. i recommend Windows Mobile 6 Professional 3.0 by ANTC. It is very stable and runs fast. It is also a base ROM.

I forgot about turning the phone part off in the comm manager, thanks. I am going to give that a try and see how it works out with the WM6 rom. Thanks again.
No problem.. its what we're all here for.
-Nstefanelli-
I just installed the rom you mentioned, and that is probably going to work out nice, and you are right It responds much better than the one I had on there. Thanks again.
yea.. i have been testing it since yesterday afternoon and it has been working perfectly for me.. and as i said it is base so it doesnt include any other crap.. glad i helped

does anybody know if there is a software (for smartphones running wm6) that would allow the phone to act as a universal remote?
something like nevo?
re:
tried a lot of programs that would make your pocket pc like a universal remote but they don't work.. and you have to get a specific code for the model of the TV or AIrcon etc...
ok. not quite universal then. is there something that has like a database of devices? just like nevo does?
the IR driver of omap wm smartphones is poor, so the TV IR does not 'see' the IR beams...
however, the IR dirver from iphone rom is better (this driver can be included in other ROMS, right now I have it on my custom WM6 rom), the TV ir can feel those beams, but there is no software avaiable unfurtoantely..
all the remote control software are for Samsung/intel based smartphone
if someone who knows more about TV ir/ir beams can make such a program for OMAP based smartphones..
try vito remote control it works in wm6
last time i've tried my phona hung.. maybe that's because is for intel/samsung based smartphones
i did try vito but it sucks! anything else? vito has no remote control database.

it sucked, but did it work? i think i will try.
so its really just the drivers that effect the IR? can this be modified in the registry? or is there a cab we can install from the iphone rom? is there anyway we can modify it right now? im using wm6.
Samsung Processors=>accept consumer and IrDa,
TiOmap Processors only IrDa..i still waiting for jears for an solution
here are the IR *.dll form iphone rom
don't know if it work just by replacing the *.dll.. give a try
Hmmm...my Phone hangs in IR Learning-Mode with your .dll...it response..and crash.Maybe a Hardcore-Coder can "catch" the IR-Signal,and "pass" it to an "Interpreter-Tool".But it sounds like to grab deep into the System...
@DSF;
May you provide a Tornado Rom Kitchen? For now,my phone crash "after" the first Bootscren, but in the second Image Screen it freeze again...one step more, sure, but not enought!!
!!!NEW MESSAGE!!!
It seems,NoviiRemoteDeluxe 4.x works with Omap850...but it is for PPC,
hmm, nice :d. have you tried it? use SPhelper for controling or other cursor emulator app..
....and the second app that will work with TiOmap 720,750 and 850...for PPC,too.Ive dumped the files and copy them to my phone, with no response...how sad!!!
Here a Link

which dll files were u using? your original ones or the ones from the iphone rom?
dll
both...first with the Iphone dll, then the original. First my phone hangs (IPhone dll),then it gives no response(original dll).Need more improvement...
sounds like to me Omap processors just wont work. i mean all of the companies that put their money into making tv remote apps for smartphone and pocket pc, and none of them have been able to get Omap working.
besides, i have this box that recieves infrared signals and flashes a red light when it recieves a signal, and when i point my phone at it i have to have it no further than 1 1/2 inches away for it to even see the infrared. i cant see how we can get it to work at a reasonable distance if it's already so close range.
dang that sucks!
Any help for this?? is realy important put this drivers in the wm6
hi
does anyone know a software for navigation thats REALLY working on
SAMSUNG i600 (with Wifi) and WM 6.0 Standard
-> I tried serveral but none worked.
last info i got was that i should use WM5.0 but thats not an option.
please only report things when you really tried for yourself and it worked.
thankx.
Which softwares have you tried maybe this would help people suggest some?
k
i tried the
navigon navigator6
tomtom6
CoPilot 7
Google Maps
SOLUTION:
for WindowsMobile there is a special version of Sygic:
Sygic_DRIVE_7199_WINDOWSMOBILE
search for this, and you´ll find.
-> i tried this now, and "violla" it works without any errors, or complications.
conculsion: Works on Samsung SGH-i600 (european with WiFi) and WM6.0 upgrade on it!
I'm guessing you mean it works with a bluetooth GPS reciever or integrated GPS?
well - i-600 has no integrated GPS.
but-> bluetooth. yes.
HI all, Ive just been given an old XDA 2 (II). It seems to work ok.
What is the latest version of Windows that this can run and is there a tutorial on how to install it
Before I invest any time or money could somebody give me a pointer as to if I could run tom tom with this?
If so what do i need?
I have used a nokia 6680 with a bluetooth receiver running tomtom and this worked fine. I am assuming the xda runs a different version.
If anybody could tell me where to start i would be very grateful.
Many Thanks
Richie
Check if you have an XDA II, aka Himalya or XDA IIi ala Alpine
Start - Settings - Device Info - Identity
PH10B - Himalaya
PH10C - Alpine
If it's a Himalaya you can upgrade it to WM6.1 or WM6.5. If an Alpine then you are stuck on WM2003.
As for SatNav TomTom 6.5 does install on a WM6.5 Himalaya, just, but i have been unable to test it due to not having a bluetooth GPS.
Thanks so much for a quick reply
Its PH10B so Himalaya
It seems to be windows 4.20.0 so quite far behind I'm guessing
Excellent
I assume I need to be connected to my PC to upgrade, the cradle/usb lead that came with it is not being recognised in XP on my machine.
Is there some drivers I need to download?
Have you installed Active Sync? Very easy to download from Microsoft.
For an updated ROM check the Himalaya section of this forum, there are many to choose from.
I have a Himalaya but it is purely for test purposes, my primary PPC is a Trinity.
Thanks, Active Sync installd, so simple when you know how.
USB now working
Are the ROMS the operating system(windows 6.5 etc)?
Ive now gone to the Himalaya thread.
I see my questions are already answered there
many Thanks
once you have worked out which device you have and can look in the right section most things have been answered already.
i seem to recall that when i installed TomTom 6.5 on my Himalaya it had to go on first and then i had to remove all the voices bar the one i wanted to ahve any space left for anything else. never actually used it as i don't have a BT GPS receiver.
Before i start to do anything could i just check something.
the three main things i would like to do are:
Upgrade the OS to the latest but more importantly most stable version
unlock the sim from 02 only
and add a decent satnav program.
What would be correct order to do this, obviously satnav last.
But does the os need to be done before the sim unlock?
Thinking back to my early days with the Himalaya, i unlocked it and then upgraded it.
Check out All in one SIM unlock to remove the SIM lock. I had success with the early version an one Himalaya and two work Alpines.
The upgrade will totally wipe the device so anthing that is installed will get deleted.
I tried the sim unlock tool but i get a 'does not know what program to open it' message did i miss something?
I flashed the rom ok to a few different versions, I'm going to try the one in your signature ather 6.1
I also tried lastest version of tomtom but it when it came to install it said not enough room? I tried installing an older version of tomtom and it worked fine.
Any tips on that?
I was using a 2gb card?
Can't remember much about the SIM unlock tool, only thing springing to mind is to check that are trying to run it direct on your PDA?
Only ever tried TomTom v6.5. Think the issue is that by default it installs all the foreign voices into System Storage, which once you get it installed and running you can delete and recover space.
Can't say as i use my Himalaya for much these days as i have Trinity.
After a few days of constant trying you get the hang of it in the end.
Thanks so much for the replys. Ive never used a pda before and to start using one thats 10 years old is a bit stupid. However i now have the latest version of tomtom all up and running in time for my london to turkey drive on monday.
I do have an iphone but not much good when there is no 3g to download the maps
Still didnt get the unlock tool to work but i shall keep trying.
Nothing stupid in using a Himalaya, especially as a satnav, the 3.5" screen is great for that.
It has also given you something to learn the basics on in case you take the jump to a WM phone.
