On my PCs at home I have to use Dr TCP to change the MTU rate down to 1400 in order to get secure sites and MSN to work with my router.
Is there a similar program that will do the same job in WM6 or failing that a registry key that I can tweak?
Thanks in advance

When I'm surfing using WiFi at home I can log on to secure sites or MSN (I've got a crap Belkin router) I had the same problem on my PC which I resolved by changing the MTU on them to 1400 I figured the same trick would work on my Vario

Hello all
I have a very annoying problem that’s preventing me from using my jasjam’s(herms) network.
Here is the issue
I use 4 different proxies to connect to the web on my phone.
One for the UMTS connection
One for the gprs connection (diffent from 3g proxy for some reason)
One for the work very secure wifi connection
And one for the home wifi connection
Its too much of a hastle to manually reconfigure the proxy every time I re-connect to these networks. Is there a way to have a small button in the today screen to quickly switch between proxies
A small utility to switch between network profiles should probably do the trick
Also, how di I prevent activesych from changing the proxy every time I connect the phone to the pc (it keeps chnging it to the work proxy)
thanks
Dunno whether my old tutorial / guide (see http://www.firstloox.org//forums/showthread.php?p=28878 ) works under WM5 - do you give it a try?
very impressive work but that not quite what i am looking for. i can't believe that i'm the only one that is having a problem with this.

But it is - I've even provided a way to put shprtcuts to the separate proxy registry import scripts onto the Today screen. (see the second article)
It's just that I don't know whether it also works under WM5 (I've written it for WM2003SE).
i am very sorry but i could not get it work on my universal (wm5). i wish it was easier to follow
a software called e2c easy2connect does that but its hardly worth $30 + i cant afford to slow down the system even more
anybody else can help
is there a tatorial that explains how to post a small shortcut at the bottom of today screen. clicking the shortcut would activate a registry key(for the proxy).
or even better. is someone of you nice people willing to do that. i imagine that something like that is very usful for far too many people
Toggle Proxy, Wi-Fi, etc.

I just came across this - brilliant!
I've been irritated by the hassle of switching back and forth between proxy and no-proxy (so I can use Wi-Fi, or streaming audio on Edge connection).
I can't imagine why this shouldn't work in WM5, so I will give it a try, and report back.
I knew about *.reg files but just never dawned on me to use them in this fashion - this will be so slick to have a few icons in Spb Pocket Plus, click and connect!
Thanks!
did you mange to get it to work??!!!!! if so please post how
Quick change proxy - no proxy - wifi on/of

I followed your tutorial, but on my Wizard found the registry keys in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\ConnMgr\Providers
rather than in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\ConnMgr\Providers

kewl! Did it work?
I`ve got a T-Mobile MDA with WM6 and I cannot access the internet through WiFi. The access point that I connect to is working cause I am able to access the net fine on my laptop. I made sure that my network cards are set to connecte to the internet. I even did a softreset after I made the changes.
My internet explorer just sits there on locating. I am not sure if its just my WiFi card configured incorrectly within WM6 or if its a reg setting that isn't set right.
If anyone had this issue before and got it fixed let me know or give me some direction to start.. thanks in advance for your help.
This is a fairly common problem. For me disabling the Wireless G option in the registry did the trick:
Registry: HKLM\COMM\TNETWLN1\PARMS
Key: dot11SupportedRateMaskG
Value: 1
so I diabled it, soft restet, verified that the reg change sticked, which it did. I tried to access the net again with no go.
me too
I have the exact same problem.
Not much discussion about this
I tried the G fix. Didn't work. Funny thing. It started when I installed MB. Downgrading DIDN'T fix it.
Try setting the the Network Card to connect to "The Internet" instead of "Work"
they are set to that..
That actually worked for me. (The Internet instead of work fix) I also made sure that all the boxes for "Server assigned IP address were checked. I could have sworn I tried that already. I wonder if it will stay "fixed". I'm due for a soft reset...seems to be working. I've been thinking all along it was some stupid setting.

check the change your dns to 4.2.2.1 and 4.2.2.2 this may fix your problem

Changing to Internet and setting the DNS doesn't seem to help. Funny thing is, GMail via Midlet Manager seems to work (maybe its doing GPRS?). But IE just spins at Locating...
wifi internet issue on wm6
although i have the older version of t-mobiles' mda (wm5), i had similar issues connecting to the net even it sees a lot of wireless aps. either i cannot hold a steady connection or cannot connect at all. the solution i had was changing the channel on my wireless ap and updating my mda's parameters for my local wireless security. now i can go to the web using my mda even with poor signal quality. It is possible that you have several wireless ap's at your location sharing the same channel. hopefully changing the channel solves your problem.
simple possible solution, but check the proxy settings? I know with cingular, many people had trouble browsing the internet due to the MediaNet proxy settings. they removed the proxy settings and everything was fine then.
There is a known issue with your rom your running...there has been a new release. check the MB thread and you will see a recent listing about a 6 and 4 mb page pool, the wifi has been fixed.

I have the original MB edition and I do not have any wireless problems. I know he had to fix the re-released versions as the wifi did not work with them initially, but I was unaware of a wifi problem with the initial release.
WIFI problem don't even see networks
Hey everybody, still loving this phone and its diversity, but have flashed this little piece of hardware with the mb 4mb/6mb wm6 rom only to find that WIFI can't even be turned on!. And yes I've downed the fixed versions from a certain forum. When I turn on WIFI, It just gives the symbol in the top straight away. It just can't find the networks. I even manually added a network, it then tries to find it, but simply can't. WEIRD hey.
Is there a solution for this problem, cause I really, like the look and feel of the wm6 roms over the wm5 roms.
bye all and thanks in advance for the kind replies.
Did you try using WiFiFoFum at all to see if it can find networks? I have not had any issues with WiFi with the Most Beautiful edition whatsoever. Only thing I notice is that when the machine first turns on or right after a soft reset that I need to click the comm manager icon for wifi twice before wifi will turn on. Otherwise it finds and connects to networks perfect.
Problem with MIE
i have no problem to connect to my homenetwork with WIFI, but i cannot access the internet with the internet explorer. but it works perfect with the opera browser!
hmmm..
It's weird...
I never access the internet with the internet explorer even my wifi was connected successfully while I brushed wm6 rom.
A miracle has happened Today.
I install a WIFI Device for WM5, that one is simple Chinese language.
I tried to turn on the wifi but not work.
Then I uninstall it -> restar....
Then I tried one more time to turn on wifi, ok, it's work to connect but still can't open the web page.
I check the wireless lan, switch the power save mode to best performance.
Then....I can open web page????
Wow~~ I don't know it work cause the wifi device change something or just swtich to best performance.
Maybe you guys can try.
(Sorry to reading my poor English)

Brother don u have a solution to my problem.
i had a similar problem. i was able to connect via wifi to my home network but IE would not work. I later found out that my PPC wasn't resolving hostnames, urls, etc.. with DNS. I ended up flashing a different ROM (WM6 ROM- [the real thing]) and it worked fine.
I suppose you could manually enter the DNS setting in your tcp/ip wifi settings. As to how to do this, search the forums.. i don't have instructions on that.. i'm sure someone has done it already somewhere in these threads and posts..
You should set connect "to the internet" something like that to the TCP/IP under the setting in the commanager
Hello,
I have noticed that a lot of sapphire roms (even the original one) have some problems on H3G and some other networks here (i.e. Vodafone Italy in my case), on my 32A magic.
Download stalls on 2G, uploads may be very slow on 3G. This is because mtu path discovery seems not working very well or maybe some servers block fragmentation request packets, etc etc.
I am wondering if it's enough to issue a "ifconfig rmnet0 mtu XXXX" as root to modify the MTU in android, and how to make this a permanent change in the system, so that it won't lose it for each bootup/interface up&down .
I have investigated this problem for weeks, thinking in the first place it was a problem with the build.prop kernel ril.parameters. Indeed setting this parameters to more conservative values fix that (ie gprs class 10 and not 12, hep disabled, etc), but it doesn't seem to be the main issue.
As I want to conduct some further testing I am wondering if someone knows how to set MTU in a permanent way on android for the remote (GPRS/3G) interfaces.
thanks a lot.
I would also like to know this, I have 3G and it does stall alot. While downloading from market it will go up to 99% then freeze

In htc based roms there's the check "3G Only".
But I am just interested to know how to lower the mtu, because here in my flat I have only 2G coverage.
There's a paid app on the market that does exactly that if you're root (lowering the mtu), is called something like "3UK Fixer", so there should be a way.
(it's not like i don't want to pay 1£ btw for that app, is just that is for 3UK and installs a different APN.. i am just interested in applying the MTU fix)
Does anyone have the cab file for the HTC Wi-Fi Router app that's installed on most HD2's? I got mine from O2 and they don't include this on their ROM version.
Cheers.
Hi,
What about that
http://www.pocketpc.ch/news/59850-neuer-htc-cab-hd-wird-zum-wifi-router.html
It's not the one from the Leo, but seems to be interesting too.
Have fun
Seem to have found the files, for them i have the (from the official rom dump)
gfx
icons,
exe
and mui
now would i be right in just putting these in \windows and creating the reg entry for the icon and a shortcut for start menu and be done
How would i add the entry for the comm manager?

Change Wi-fi router apn
Hi,
when I start Wi-fi router, it always use wap apn. Is there any way how to change it to internet apn? Thanks for any help
the cab was upped months ago in dev and hacking.
May well have been l3v35y that upped it
Thanks guys.
I've downloaded it and installed it and it seems to run OK, unfortunately I cannot fully test it at the mo because my data connection is screwed until Monday.
Will let you know if it works OK next week.
Added security
Only thing I dont like about the Wifi Router is the low security on it, I understand WPA2 may demand too much form the phone, but a simple config file in which you could add the MAC adresses allowed to connect to the Router would be great.. anyone know who wrote it? I love the Wifi router feature, but a simple if-not-on-the-MAC-list-no-connection feature would make it a LOT better.
htc hd2 wifi router
can anyone help me find the site in english?
thx, but the most custom roms have a good integrated wifi router
Does this program store any log file information or internet history on the phone itself? I do a lot of sensitive financial transactions on my laptop and want to make sure it's not being stored on the phone as well.
