Can someone explain the differences between the OS's and why one would be better than another.
Thanks
i haven't seen the 1437 rom...where is that from?
for 318 and 1413, you can read mfrazz's explanation in the third post here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=316447
basic differences is that 318 is from a wizard rom, while the 1413 is a port from a different phones rom.

With Ivan releasing his "dual ROM" (Two ROMs in the same archive) (and one kitchen), Midget has his V1.0 (and the associated kitchen) and the old ROMs (such as Jwrights and DarkForce) being out for quite some time - we're beginning to wonder which ROM will win out
There are also a number of threads asking which ROM to use (<< each group of words is a different link...)
The true question is Which ROM base is being used? Since, I'm sure, given a decent base the ROM developers could make a brilliant ROM which could then be kitchened and customised as everyone saw fit.
(btw The poll is for your opinion, the thread is for your justification - I don't want any posts that are just "+1 for Bob's ROM!!!!1111one" without giving a GOOD reason...)
Helmis 1.1
very stable fast, not noticed any hangs
all other roms iv had problems of
1 hangs
2 memory usage(dont kno y,but helmis rom appears to provide more ram)
only drawback
battery consumption
which i guess all roms have
Jwrightmcps 2.02.00 is good !
I was wondering, i have had Faria's pro kitchen rom for a while now and am wondering if there any newer better ROMS out right now, i see so many new ROMS like all the Pandoras and Crossbow reloaded and i am wondering if they are any better the Faria's pro ROM kitchen. Like are they more stable, faster, less bugs, that kind of stuff.
For all the experts...im finding that there are some clean ATT roms and then you got people like dutty who is using 19588...is there a difference in rom itself ?? Call me a newb but I really wanted to find out because there doesn't seem to be a difference related to speed on the base roms but there might be difference in sip and software...???
also with the new htc diamond are being installed on both but i haven't heard of anyone having issues...

19213 is original WM Kaiser build from HTC, 19588 is original WM Diamond build from HTC
basically it is just updated set of few files in kaiser WM OS build from newer builds of WM OS as these are released to public

Wow, that's really insightful. You must be a professional developer with years of embeded CE experience. "Some files & stuff."

The difference greatly depends on who the chef is. Some just use the Diamond xip & call their rom a 19588, some have added the XIP + some of the dynamic Libraries, some have added all previously stated + some of the Diamond Apps.
Not all 19588 versions are the same as not all 19213 Versions are the same. You also can't compare them really as the 19588 is not a Kaiser Rom, but parts of it have been ported to be functional on the Kaiser.
There is definitely some speed & functionality differences though. Some of the chefs usign the 19588 have obtained higher bitbit benchmark scores using the Diamond Ported XIP & Libraries. Not that you'll really notice too much, most of the good chefs are working at speeding things up in the milli & microsecond range.
The only thing that really matters though, is how it feels in your hands. Does it feel faster to you, does it allow for the use of the apps you frequently install & use.
I know that the general hardware minimum requirements for 6.5 are quite a bit higher than 6.1, but I really wanted to know if anyone knew exactly what has changeed with winmo under the hood. I tried googling it and checking wikipedia and of course google searching XDA...but only found a lot of ROM/device specific answers regarding this question. I believe i read somewhere a while ago that MS had changed the memory management system with 6.5 from what was used in 6.1. And i was just curious to exactly what changes were made.
And as far as the builds that are being released with 6.5.1 and the newest 6.5.3, does anyone have any info on that? I heard one of the more recent builds of 6.5.1 (i forget which one it was, but brandon miniman did a video review)said it was dramatically faster than previous 6.5.1 builds. Right now i'm very curious; i'm wondering if MS is just doing aesthetics updates w/ the 6.5.x builds...or if they're actually changing how it works under the hood as well.
maybe this might help you

I find the simbadogg's question valid even now.
So, is there finally a clear answer? Any benchmarks? Charts?
Thanks
would like to know too
Hi there,
I know and understand the reasons why M$ did not release a WM5 ROM for this old device although the hardware supports it. My question would be: Is it possible for someone to cook a WM5 or later ROM for it starting from a ROM designed for a similar iPaq? I really don't know much about cooking ROMs but I am willing to learn. I just want to know if it's worth it..
Thanks.
Microsoft does not release any device ROMs, hp does in this case.
WM5 required at least 64MB ROM and 64MB RAM, so h3900 series iPAQs are not compatible.
And it's not possible to a cook new ROM for it.
