Hey guys, im kind of a newbie but here is my problem.
I have a iMate KJAM.
I've upgraded using NBD 7.7 and XDA Mobile 6 Release. Everything works fine except the contacts program does that work. I click it and it simply does not load. Also on bootup, there is also a issue saying "cannot load ssdaemon".
Any Ideas?
try and see if ssdaemon exists on \windows\ folder (on your phone). If it does, make a shortcut to it in \windows\startup and reboot your phone

Are you using SPB Backup to restore your contacts from before you upgraded? I had the same problem. Use PIM Backup instead. As far as getting your old contacts back, SPB offers a utility you can use on your desktop PC to extract the contacts from the backup file. Or you could re-flash to your old ROM, restore the contacts, back them up using PIM Backup, then upgrade again and restore them from PIM Backup.
does activesync see your phone? because it won't see mine

Go to settings > connections > USB to PC
and disable advanced network functionality.
Sometimes it's necessary to change this in order to enable active sync.

I can't even open up the contacts. it simply opens for 1 sec and closes. I suspect corrupts contacts database. How do I delete contacts?
I had this problem before with a few different rom builds, I solved it by hard resetting a few times. Someone else solved it by doing something else in this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=1358295#post1358295

Im using the Xplore ROM and have reinstalled all of the apps i used in Faria's WM6 the real thing. But now after I restore all of my info using Spb backup, I cannot get any service with T-Mobile (I live in Florida, if that helps). Is there some file in the backup that could have messed up my service?

App Backup doesn't work from one rom to another. May not work well even on same rom.
umm, so should i just leave it how it is and half-way start from scratch, cuz all i really need is my emails, and i can get those back easy, or can I use another backup tool?

In don't encourage any other backup than PIM Backup...only for stuff like contacts..appointments,tasks and messages
You're not about to reflash the rom every day. Take your time and install the programs you need.
Thanks
I'll just try PIM backup
and where exactly is it hidden in Faria's WM6 the real thing ROM? I could never find it on there...
ohh and i do end up flashing it at least more than twice every other day

Start from scratch!
Anichillus is right, you can't go from Rom to Rom. SPB backup is good for restoring the same Rom.
Going from Rom to Rom is like trying to restore a Win98 pc with an XP backup disc. Sprite backup is supposed to work for what you want to do but I haven't seen or heard anyone confirm this.
ok i will, it just means another few hours up late instead of working on all of the work I should be doing
Haven't seen this mentioned anywhere else, so...
With new version of spb backup it will recommend rom restore mode on detection of changed rom... if this causes no service, you can try a normal full restore and see if there are no problems with your phone.
No Service after Spb Backup restore

Using H3r7 beta 1 after a back-up restore no service (same rom after hard reset) i checked if drivers are loaded and they are, also no change in connection type. i think that the registry restore has a bug, will compare before and after registry and come back whit an answer.
Haven't fount the cause but after doing a custom restore now it works.
What you need to do is restore using the "Rom Upgrade Mod"
select "Customize Restore" next, next, click options, Check "Force Rom Upgrade Mode", done, next, Chose "Rom Upgrade Mode" from the drop-down menu, check "Overwrite existing files check-box, next, next and you're done.

I had this problem with mine. The only way I was able to get mine back was to re-flash the phone back to the ROM I was using when I backed up my contacts originally, restore from the SPB backup file, then back up the contacts again using a different backup software, one that works with WM6. I used PIM Backup.
just let activesync backup your contacts (the phone ones, SIM contacts aren't touched by flashing anyway), and once you set up your partnership, with the same name as before, it will ask you regarding the conflicting files between your computer and phone... just choose to replace phone's files with those found on the computer.
Works for me every time, no matter what I'm upgrading from and to.
I agree, I just use spb backup for my programs, but leave the pim backup to either the PC or exchange
rgds
I think I will reflash to original rom, backup, and then reflash again.
spb backup
have ou considerd unzipping the backup on your desktop with the app that spb provides andgetting your files that way
with all the rom upgrades going around there are small bugs. i had to hard reset my phone on the go and now im without my contacts list. can one backup contacts to the storage card? i used spb backup when i had a pocketpc, is there a similar software for smartphone?
p.s. im writing this from my sp5 on a wifi network.
try PIMBackup. It's for PPC, but works OK on smartphone. It's very usefull when you want to backup PIM and SMS directly to your phone, and restore those information to a WM6 ROM.
You can get it from http://www.dotfred.net/
I've tried to backup contacts, calendar, tasks from WM5 and restored them succesfully on WM6.
- backup/restore appointments
- backup/restore call logs
- backup/restore contacts
- backup/restore messages (SMS, Mails, ...) NEW !!!
- backup/restore speed dials
- backup/restore tasks
- backup/restore custom files

And.. it's free
If you cannot jump to the buttons, press home, then back arrow. press joystick up. or you can use SPHelper (PPC cursor emulator)
If you want to use your contacts only on WM5, you can just copy the pim.vol (with default file manager) to card. For restore, rename pim.vol from root directory to pim2.vol, copy the pim.vol from storage card to root.
thanks
thanks DSF. i was able to download and install directly from my phone. should have asked before reseting my phone.

Sprite backup 6 ... I've been using it with all the rom changes as well and have not lost anything except for a customer homescreen.

well, at least now you know what to do in the future :d
So when I'm in the satellite tab i see the sattelites but than it says "Mode 2: Fix not available". I have been struggling with getting my GPS to work and maybe there is a thing I could make the fix available?
bump......
Hiya,
Try this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=427888
Everyone has problems with GPS and I wish that HTC would fix this. However i used the Elite RC3 ROM last week and they seemed to fix it on mine so it might be worth trying custom Roms.
I tried that but it still doesn't get a fix. Also when I put a new rom on my phone and use SPB backup to restore my contacts and programs, will the programs work? It would be too much installing for me after I flash the new rom.
What i do is this. I have an 8GB expasion card in mine so i install all the programs/games i need to that. i also use PIM backup to backup all my contacts.
All i do is run PIM backup to backup messages, contacts etc and copy all my shortcuts from the programs menu. When you hard reset or flash all you will need to do is restore the PIM backup, restore you shortcuts and you're sorted.
However if some programs require serials, you will need to enter them back in again as this is saved in the registry on the device it self. Any personal settings for those programs should be saved too providing it saves them to the storage card.
I have gone from wm5 to various wm6 roms over the last week and whenever i use a touchflow based rom i cannot add contacts to the people page.
If I use spb mobile shell adding the contacts are fine however.
today i tried to backup the contacts using pim backup 2.8 and it says
"invalid contacts backup file type"
is there anything i can do to repair the file please?
thanks
I do not know what it should be. But i think it as a compatibility issue. As i understand you backed up your contacts in WM5 and trying to restore it in WM6? If that is true, try to flash back to some WM5 ROM (best ROM should be the one that you made a backup on) and try restore contacts there from your SPB backup file, it should work corectly. Then download the PIMbackup and backup it again, also if you have outlook try to backup contacts using it, it is better because of compatibility issue Then flash the WM6.1 ROM you want and try to restore contacts using PIMbackup or outlook. The problem is that the SPBBackup backup the database pim.vol file from WM5 and it has, in my opinion, a bit different structure of storing contacts. So that is why it seemed corupted for WM6.1 Let me know if it works
worked a treat, thanks
i am glad it worked spbbackup simply backup the pim.vol file and replace it in new ROM. PIMbackup works another way, also outlook uses own method by storing contacts in vcf format
