there are plenty dialskins around if you like you can find piles more using google

Sorry, but on the link you show, there are only normal skins and not special skin
for those like me are almost blind !!
All my researchs on google were unfruitful for a very high contrast dialpad.
Thank's the same

Well, there are topics on high contrasts pad discussed here, probably just need to search more.
Anyway, the phone pad shown above are made up of various BMP images that can be easily modified to suit your needs.
Discussion here -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=267180&highlight=black+white+pad
just download and replace the file, I think. probably need to convert it to BMP (AFAIR, it is in BMP format)

Today background image problem

Hello,
Whenever I set an image to my Today Screen, It is very feint, the colours are very dull and not like the original, is there any way to fix this?
I have tried theme makers to try make my own theme using the image that I want but it just does not want to install.
Is there anyway to fix the problem when i set an image to my today screen it is so feint.
I use Windows Mobile 2003.
It's been answered before and it is very easy to solve. Go to the default Pictures & Video program, select the picture you want for background and you will get a level of transparency. If you vary the transparency you will get different effects. What is making it faint is the default transparency set.
Thanks for your help.
I tried that but noticed the defualt pictures program would only load up JPEG pictures. The picture I had was a gif.
http://img48.imageshack.us/img48/1969/boot1qc6.gif
Changing this to a JPEG in Photoshop, even using the highest Quality setting resulted in discoloration. This image that I got was from here, and by the looks of it it is made using 16 bit colour, so it would look the same on the Pocket PC as it would on the computer. But once I converted it to a JPEG, It looked very bad on the pocket pc as a background.
Any Ideas?
Thanks
I can see and set a gif as background using my default Pictures&Video software. Maybe mine is a special tweaked version put in my ROM by the cooks, but if you search here I believe I've seen something about it before and you may be able to download a version that would see files other than jpegs. You may need to point to the folder where your image is. It does not search all folders automatically.

HTC Touch Pro Camera Templates

Hi,
I thought I would be able to crack this one for myself. But somehow I can't get it to work.
I would like to make some Camera Templates of my own. However the "how to" descriptions I have found won't work even though they should.
This is what I have done:
I made a animated gif (using Gimp I was able to see the structure of the deliverd templates)
The first picture (in the animated gif) is the template with a black area for the actual photo
2 The second layer is an empty transparent layer
3 This is a transparent layer with a a black area for the actual photo surrounded by white.
What happens is first I don't see any open arears while taking a picture. After taken a picture anyway the photo will be shown but not in the arears that I want wanted it to bb.
What am I doing wrong?
I have googled for two nights now and I have tried several ways to create this (GIMP and Photoshop CS3) I'm on some kind of track but is it the right one? This shoud have been so easy to create right?
Regards,
AJ
I cracked it ;-)
The secret is in how you save it.
This is how you do it:
Make sure that the background is set on transparent.
Take any picture and cut out for example a hole for the face by making this area black.
Make a second layer and make the same area black
Now draw a white line around this black area (not sure if you really need to do this so try it out)
Now create an animated gif that only runs once.
Now the big secret, I use Photoshop for this example but you'll probably regonize these settings for other programs
color reduction: Windows
dither algorythm: Pattern
Transparency: No transparency dither
Interlaced
Colors: 256
Matte (I made this black play around with it to see what happens)
Web Snap 0% (if you change this you get a more ghostly effect)
Regards,
AJ
These kind of things are very easy to make.
Just go to a website. Print screen it and past it in the 640 x 480 canvas. Then modify it until it is to your satisfaction.
Use the rectange tool to create the black area that will be used as the hole for the picture.
Now duplicate the rectange and go to "Layer Style" choose "Stroke" and make a white outside stroke of 1 pixel.
Now all you need to do is create an animated gif.
Go to "Windows" and choose "animation"
Make 2 frames in the animation box.
The first one is the picture with the black area
The second one is nothing but the black area with the white stroke, and save this as an animated gif.
color reduction: Windows
dither algorythm: Pattern
Transparency: No transparency dither
Interlaced
Colors: 256
Matte black
Web Snap 0%

AJ

Hi, I'm sorry for this noobish question, but where do these things go?
I saw somewhere on the internet that there should be a couple of "beeldthema's" or templates standard on this phone, but I only have the one of "Woman best buy top 10" and "MAN Person of the year" (this is 1 template with 2 pictures)
Is there a website where i can download these templates the other touch pro's have? I saw there was one on some Touch Pro's with a cook and some others too.
Thanks in advance
Hi, Ali3nSt0rm
On the Touch pro, and my gues is on the Diamond as well these things go in "my documents" "Templates"
(dutch)of "mijn documenten" en waarschijnlijk heet het in het Nederlands ook template en anders iets van Beeldthema ofzo.(/dutch)
Or you could just search your device for gif files and you'll find the spot where to put them.
For the internet:
Search for "camera templates" and you'll find lot's of free templates (like this one: http://xda-v.6te.net/)
You can also Google: [camera template site:xda-developers.com] and find a lot more templates.

Freeware Picture Editor / Home background

Does anyone know of a decent freeware WM6.1-compatible picture editor? One that could be used to alter the contrast, brightness and colour of a photo?
I've found that very very few photos can be effectively used as a Home screen background unless they are very dark. The white & grey text become unreadable otherwise.
So ideally I want to darken some pics I have and see if they work better. It'd be nice to be able to do this actually on the phone.
Cheers!
personally i use photoshop..not a freeware..anyway what i wanted to say is that it doesnt need to be "made" for WM6.1...you just need it to be able to resize or crop the image..
TP resolution: width:480 x height:640

Photoshop isn't freeware. Nor does it run on WM6.1. It's not cropping the image that's the problem - the picture viewer on the TP allows resizing and cropping already.
The problem is altering the brightness, contrast and colours of a photo.
I'm looking to be able to do this on the phone itself, preferably using freeware. I already have Photoshop on my PC.
Hope that makes it a little clearer...
hi,
you can do very simple image changes using:

Hope it helps,

That looks like the baby, thanks, I'll give it a go!
Hmmm, just tried it out. It looks like it has the features I want, but for some reason, whenever I edit a picture, it doesn't save the changes, which is a bit frustrating!
For instance, if I highlight a picture, select Tools > Adjust, I get the screen where I can, for instance, reduce the brightness. Then when I hit the "Adjust" button, it just goes back to the file viewer, and the picture is unaltered.
Most odd!

i know its not freeware that what i said too
i thought you wanted a program that will allow you to make wallpapers, not that it would run on the mobile itself
Have you checked the Diamond section by the way?
Hi Jim,
I've just tried increasing the brightness of an image on my TP with XnView Pocket 1.40 and it seems to work fine. I can adjust the brightness etc and then when I hit the 'Adjust' button a message pops up saying:
The Image xxxxx has been adjusted and and has been saved into xxxxx_m.jpg.
It doesn't alter the original image, it saves the image to an altered file and adds the '_m' to the file name.
I've attached a screen shot of what happens on my TP, are you saying you don't see this screen after you hit the 'Adjust' button?
Cheers,
D.
Hmmm. It wasn't working with a particular picture which was about 8 Megapixels. I cropped it down to about 6 Megapixels in "Pictures & Videos" and then tried again in Xnview and all of a sudden it started working.
Perhaps there is a bug which causes it to fail if the picture is too big?
Actually I think I've sussed the problem - the original file was set to read-only!!! D'oh!
(Would've been nice if the app had reported that though...)
Ah, could be connected to the size of the image. I was using a file that was about 600Kb I must admit. I don't use this often to manipulate images but it is useful to have.
If you're manipulating large images then it may be a task only for your PC.
Cheers & good luck.
D.
I can also use commercial Resco Photo Viewer, but very good freeware editor is UltraG. It is an old-school software with many functions, but a bit complicated,so be patient to use it.

[Q] Font colour location

Being new to android, I am slowly finding out how to customise the look and feel to suit me.
One thing I can't figure out is how to change the font colour in the attached photo, I'm not sure what this bit is called. But light blue is a terrible colour and I would like to change it to white or black if possible.
Can anyone tell me where this might be done? The OS is 4.2.2.
Hard
I am guessing by the huge amounts of replies, that changing the colour of this item is incredibly difficult and beyond the capabilities of most of the people on this forum.
anyone?
I must be in the wrong forum.
Well you could have saved some time and looked at it yourself. It is set in the system ui apk and defined in framework res. Depending on your device. See that's the thing it really depends on the rom and device. It is different for each. Not to mention there are plenty of tuts that would have told you the same thing.
thanks
Thanks, you couldn't point out one of these tuts could you? If I knew what the thing I want to change is called too, that would be helpful.
found it
It's called statusbar, and now I know it's name I can search for info on it.
Google returns a lot of results for 'thingy' or 'wotsit' but rarely the results you are looking for.
Conclusion
The thingy in the original post is called the status bar.
It is defined in /system/app/SystemUI.apk
Editing it requires a piece of software called apktool.
I now have white text instead of pale blue.
Thanks to zelendel for the clue.
All is now good.
As a slight aside, I found both a status_bar.xml and a gemini_status_bar.xml in SystemUI.apk and my phone appears to be using the gemini one. What practical use this is I don't know. The phone is a U51GT-C4B if anyone cares, it's as big as will fit in your jacket pocket without requiring the services of a tailor and makes using rdesktop so much easier.
It doesn't make your fingers any less fat, but it makes typing easier because the letters are further apart.

Gallery PHOTO EDITOR Eye Dropper Missing

After switching to the Galaxy S10 phone, I noticed that the gallery photo editor application is robbed of its best features. it's so frustrating when these manufacturers just arbitrarily decide to screw up a good thing.
I constantly and I mean constantly use gallery photo editor and the eyedropper feature to select a custom color and then use the pen to edit out things in images I don't visible. I make them disappear by writing over them in the exact custom colors that already exist in the image. I choose that color with the eyedropper!
Now it seems you either have to overlay a text box over the top which flat out doesn't work because the new text box interface is so bulky and ridiculously lacking because it only has a very very few options. The NEW UNIMPROVED paint feature has ONLY 10 or so canned multicolor designs you can print with... WHO WANTS TO PAINT WITH MULTICOLOR DESIGNS? (KINDA DUMB, but okay)
1. Please don't tell me to go download it because I already look for it and it isn't there.
2. I already tried clicking the upper right corner and clicking advanced and then clicking the pencil to edit and then going through all the options inside that area and it's not there.
3. I've tried using the key combination to create a screenshot and several third-party apps to create screenshots in my efforts to find the eyedropper and it is not there.
4. Please don't tell me to go download Photoshop or some other app I don't want too; I just want my photo editor eye-dropper back!!
I use it constantly and I mean constantly 50 times a day! I take screenshots and edit out ads and things like text and hearts and stars to indicate the item is a favorite etc. using the eyedropper to select the custom background color and then the pen to write over the top of whatever it is you don't want visible makes it blend right into the background... THIS IS SO UNIMAGINABLY BASIC!
I be already spent weeks hunting for where the ability to add an image inside another image and finally was able to find it obscured in stickers area! I've searched and searched every possible conceivable section for any imaginable way they might have hid in the eye dropper and I just can't find it!!
I just want my eye dropper back! It's causing massive problems because I can't do what I need to do 100 times a day!!
Can someone within the limitations outlined above 1 through 4 please PLEASE tell me where the eyedropper went?!?
I'm in the SAAAAMMMME BOAT.
I manage several different social media accounts, and have used this feature FOR YEARS to edit out extraneous things. It was simple and easy.
Weirdly enough, it was there in November, so it kept my main sampled color as an option, WHICH IS THE ONLY WAY I can basically continue to do what I do. This has been a nightmare.
If you find anything out, PLEASE let me know.
I'll also do the same.
You mean this?
To do this?
Thanks ?
That option does not show up if you have selected the edit dialogue box to pop up after you screencap, as it used to.
But this is very helpful. THANK YOU!
It's on the color palette now
