Wich WM6 ROM can connect to WPA Wifi - JASJAR, XDA Exec, MDA Pro ROM Development

There are so many images to find here, but i'm looking for the latest one that can connect to WPA. Can someone tell me wich one i can use.

Went back to wm5, (latest Version),there were just to many problems with the wm6 roms.even my tmc quit working for me with the wm6 roms, back to wm5 everything is working fine again.

no problem with jrightmcps 2.02.00

gonna test that 2.02.00 version. hope that ones worked fine with WPA. will let you know

jrightmcps 2.02.02 works fine connected to WPA.
Not had any problems with the WLAN side, just Bluetooth can be funny sometimes, worked fine for over a month then started stopping at random intervals, icon on start page still showed BT as enabled, but comm manager showed as stopped. Once that happens either a soft reset or going into flight mode fixes it.

flashed to 2.2.0 version but still can't connect to wifi. after looking further i say my router is configurate as WPA TKIP+ AES maybe thats why i can connect. gonna test the settings tonight on my router.

I used to use Darkforce, and I'm pretty sure I connected to a WPA2 router before. (I could be wrong though, that was awhile ago)

ie tried many roms and then i flashed jwrightmcps 2.02.00 for his wonderful wifi connectivity. i use it both with wep lans and wpa (tkip) lans without any problem.

That is WPA2 then, can only connect via WPA (WPA-PSK or TKIP).

Does anyone have WPA(PSK/TKIP) sucess?

1,open of course sucess.
2, WPE also sucess.
But WPA(Pre-SharedKey) can not be sucess.

For me only Jwrightcmp's WM6 2.02.02 ROM works. Or WM5.
UPDATE!!! Working
Goes through all of the right motions but unfortunately does not connectfor me either. WEP and open do work for me. I use WEP and MAC filtering at home, but would prefer TKIP.
I left it sit on my desk for about half an hour, trying to access the wireless router. I was checking it one last time, before giving up, but it had connected!!!! I will try again tomorrow and report back.
Works But Buggy IMO
I Personally Use WEP At Home Even Though I Know It Can Be Cracked In 5-10 Mins With The Right Knowledge, (Ive Done It Myself Even With MAC Filtering Enabled)
My Girlfriend Has SKY Broadband And Her Router Uses WPA:TKIP.
I Find That I Can Connect On Most WM6 Roms But I Have To Do The Following:
Enable WIFI.
Wait For WIFI To Start The Connection Process.
Disable WIFI.
Enable Wifi Again.
Now My Wireless Connects And Works.
Im Not Sure That This Works With All WPA Configurations But For Me This Works With WPA:TKIP On WM6 ROMs That Are Supposed To Suffer From The WPA Bug.
If This Works For Anyone Else Then Feel Free To Confirm This Method.

That was my despair talking...
We are a family!!!
Thanks you all for your kindly and usefull info that i checked:
build 15341, direct to use WPA/PSK;
build 18159: just followed OllieD said, and possible use WPA, 18159 not very stable.
build 17913: as Ollied said, During searching WPA, just switch off wifi and take it on, then WPA connected. Ok, i will use this stable and fast ROM untill a usefull G4 ROM build 18508 (or 19xxx)!!!

This has always worked for me in WM6.
I reported yesterday that I had success with WPA-TKIP, that is still the case. I reflashed today with Leo's latest, and even though there are still some issues, I was able to connect today again to WPA-TKIP at work. It took time for the first connect to go through, but whenever I came back to the device, woke it up and relinked, it has been fine all day. I will check again on Monday and Tuesday, But it appears to work for me. (I have a G3) one of the earliest Uni's in the US through a special importer.
Another trick

I use a little different approach since yours doesn't work for me (just change step 3 and 4):
Enable WIFI.
Wait For WIFI To Start The Connection Process.
Turn off Uni and wait a couple of seconds.
Turn on Uni.
Now My Wireless Connects And Works.
Marco.
cails to connect the first time only
1.switch on wifi (using connection manager) - fails to connect
2. switch off wifi
3. switch on wifi and it successfully connects.
I use this ROM: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=325466

No WPA PSK/TKIP problems with Darkforce Rom. It may be outdated but still rocks!
Hi
I'm using Leo's latest rom update 1 (1.17.00,42.53.P8,2.11.00 WWE,5.2.1908 b18508.0.7.0. My bootloader says 1.00 so I guess its a G3)
I've been trying all 3 methods I've read here for about a week (wifi on wait 30 mins, wifi on, off and back on, wifi on and uni off and back on) with my old Netgear WGT624 (one of the early 108Mbps routers).
Finally today I started changing the settings on the router and got it working. I changed the "mode" setting from "Auto 108" to "g only" but it still didn't work. Then I changed it to "b and g" and the "wifi off - wait 2 secs - back on" worked immediately. I guess the other 2 methods will work too.

finding a commManager to update maybe fix this!
if we haven't a commManager, how to switch WIFI on and off???
Try this, it's already working on other devices like the Axim X51V and the HX4700.
Download Instructions: download archive http://rapidshare.com/files/59123134/x51v_wm6_wpa_fix.rar.html
You must copy wzcsvc.dll to your \windows folder
You can't do that in your PDA.
1- Turn-off wifi, then soft-reset your PDA
2- Connect to your PC via activesync
3- Copy wzcsvc.dll from PC to \windows folder of PDA via ActiveSync's explorer
Thanks to vagus

I have the same problem... I'll develop a new CommManager soon... that will cooperate with my WiFiService... You can use this to effectively turn on/off the WiFi device through the Connectivity balloon (fixed)...
goodmorning ! wake up HTC Universal users

Raphael: Wifi can not connect to any encrypt connection, any help?

My TouchPro can connect normally to unsecured wifi networks, but with WPA encrypted ones, it can only connect for the first time, after that it can not.
At home I have a wireless router/ADSL modem (Zoom X6) that is connected to my PC by cable, all my phones and laptops connect to internet via wifi. While other phones (1G iPhone) and laptops always connect successfully, the TP only connected once and then cannot or unable connect to the WPA security-enabled wireless network (although it's able to scan and detect the availability of the Wifi network). I tried to reset the router settings, even update router firmware, but no luck, it's still unable connect. I also tried with my office secured wifi network and I had the same problem.
Yesterday, I had to hardreset my TP and tried to connect once again, but problem was repeated, connected only once and after that, unable. Note that my previous PPC (TMobile Ameo WM5) didn't have any problem with the same wifi router and the same wifi settings (as follow).
My TP wifi settings:
Network Name: MyNetwork
Connects To: The Internet
Uncheck "This is a hidden network"
Next step:
Authentification: WPA-PSK
Data Encryption: TKIP
Greyed Out: The key is automatically provided
Network Key:************** (my pass)
Greyed Out: Key Index: 1
Next,
Checked "Use IEEE 802.1x network access control" but greyed (I can't change this)
Anybody know the solution for this issue?
Thanks and very appreciated for any help.
i experienced similar problems with my old p4350 but not yet with the TP...
no solution, sorry. but im quite unhappy that this issue still exists...
Any suggestion, pls.
yeah.. quite sucky.. I though the WiFi 'broke'.. but i was able to connect to a WEP site.. I think its something to do with WPA.
I never had this problem with my Diamond. The firmware on Diamond isso much more stable compared to Touch Pro..
I set everything to WEP and my key is open instead of shared, and now it works fine.
I had issues at my dad's, who has no encryption, and also there, when I set the key to open io shared, I got connection. (even though there is no key
anyway, it looks like that is the bug (at least in my device)
I have exactly same settings and same problem... but I want to use this encrypted connection since in future I will have to connect also in other places where I need it for sure.
Any help here?
I have similar promblem with my Hermes before.
My wireless router is running "Turbo-G" mode, my Hermes can't connect it with Turbo-G mode On.
After I change the wirless mode from Turbo-G to "g/b", my Hermes can connect it without any problem.
I tryed that and does not work...
strange is that is was working in the past and on router I did no changes but on TP I installed just some apps which should not affect this...
Only what could affect is Advanced config which I installed...
So where else can be problem?
How can I troubleshoot this?
Signal kvality is good but still keeps dropping and does not obtain IP from router.
mine works fine...not that that helps you in any way
I found the solution: set router to unsecured and use MAC filter. But that is only a tip, because my TP still can not connect with any other secured wifi.
I had same problem and looks like I found the bug in Advanced Config 3.2
There is in Network -> WPA auth... was enabled and I put Disabled (now I can use WPA auth anyway... before it just could not connect)
And next Wi-Fi delay after boot: 0 (when I changed to other number than I got problem that I could not even see any AP as I could see before and only network card settings was shown)
Try to play with other settings and you will see... I had also errors with device.exe after reboot... but now it all works as it should.
Just post here if it helps you also so we can notify creator of Advanced Config...

You are merely restricting people from connecting to your router.. without encryption, you are sending unsecure packets all over..
Have you tried using AES encryption on your device instead of TKIP? I only mention this because TKIP is the only one I haven't tried. All other methods of connectivity work fine for me with the TP.
I tried the PT using unsecured routers, WEP and WPA and all of them worked fine with stable connectivity.
The routers I have tried (without any problems) so far are:
1. Linksys WRT-54G running Tomato firmware
2. Linksys WRT-54G running DD-WRT firmware
3. D-Link DIR-655 running latest firmware
I tired open, WEP and WPA1+2 on all of the above routers and the TP responded with zero issues...
I am not using a custom ROM.
I hope this helps in some miniscule way.
Good luck.

Not having any issues with my girlfriends WPA secured router. It's on WPA2-PSK and AES encryption. Enter key first time (case sensitive!!), and of you go... Connecting without trouble ever since
hmm..Funny mine still can't connect to my home WPA2, AES or TKIP.. I'm on the Buffalo Tomato firmware..

I've got the sollution, everybody on this forum probably has advance config installed, the program sets some default value's of it's own, set the WPA authentication under network in the advance config program to disabled and it will work again. Anyways, that worked for me
I've removed WiFi settings and then I edited settings again. It works now
Raphael Wifi problems
I bought this Fuze to replace my trusty Dash since I broke the antenna on my Dash. I'm running NRG Magic, but have tried other NATF and other ROMs as well, I cannot get this phone to connect to my wifi network I'm using WPA2-PSK but have disabled security for testing. My Dash and my laptop connect immediately with no problems. If I cannot get wifi going on this Fuze I'm afraid I'll have to put it on Ebay and try the Iphone, which people seem to love.
The Fuze did connect once, and it was WPA2-PSK at the time, I don't remember what ROM I was using at the time probably an NRG flavor, but Ihave had _no_ luck since.
Should I flash to 'official' ROM? Honestly I'm getting tired of playing with this thing I don't have the time.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Marc
I may have found something
Check your time zone/daylight savings settings on your router. Phone and router time must be in sync.

VOX not connecting to router

My VOX has stopped communicating to my router. This appears to have happened since I accidently deleted profile but that could be co-incidence..
It sees my network...
Settings VOX
Net type INTERNET
Auth WPA 2
AES
USE IEEE 802.1x YES
AEP type: Smart Card or certificate
Settings WAG200G nothing really relevent here except to say AES as above.
My phone seems to connect WITHOUT encryption but when I add encryption (with real simple password) this is where the phone can't connect for some reason... My laptop is still connected to the router without any problems there is no MAC filter or anything like that.
Anyone please help!
BTW tried hard reset not helped.
i have the exactly same problem. i tried other kinds of config on my router but nothing worked.without encripton or password it connects...
Not connecting to WIFI
Seems more people have this problem?
WPA2 does seem to be a problem. Personally I also use fixed IP, but never got my phone connected to my home network.
@work I use WEP and DHCP, no problem connecting.
@home I use, as mentioned, WPA2, AES, Fixed IP, router.
If anybody got a simple answer...?
btw, I got this problem after using other roms(for almost a year now). Basic HTC rom (WM 6.0 :-( ) seems to work fine.
Half connected in fact
Hi, I'm also getting a wifi problem after installing the RUU_Vox_HTC_FRA_1.34.406.1_4.1.13.54_03.10.90_Ship ROM (and thus resetting everything in the profile), but I wonder if it's really the same thing.
My phone connects to the wifi, gets an IP (both the phone and the router show the same IP attributed), but PIE and Outlook Pocket can not use the network. It's just like they couldn't see the network. But they don't use Edge either to connect, so they probably somehow try to send data to the network, but they fail.
Oh, and WEP encryption changes nothing. And I can't test with fully removing the encryption, as I use an internet box, not a standard router.
What I don't get is that I was browsing just fine on this ROM and the same config in my router I wish someone with more knowledge would spare a minute to help us out here or at least point us in the right direction
Solved
I upgraded the firmware on my router... :d thx

WIFI problems related to WEP (and other encryptions) is hardware or software? HELP!!

I have spent the last week at work more focused on the XDA forum than what I am actually paid to do here at work...
I am so unproductive now, I am actually willing to donate to the forum if the forum can produce results, so that I can finally get back to work in peace!
I have thoroughly read through most relevant posts. I cannot find any specific post that solves the problem I have, so I decided to post anew, against some suggestions...
Anyway, the problem is that,
I cannot get any of my applications that are internet-dependent (skype, mail, weather etc) to access the WIFI connection that "apparently" looks connected, IF WEP (or any other encryption, for that matter) is enabled on the WIFI Router.
OK, what I mean by "apparently" is that the Wifi signal appears at its fullest, the lollipop on top of the screen with arrows is there, and even if I go into start>settings>Connections>wifi, it says that (my particular internet connection, named) Linksys is "connected".
The problem is, with wep encryption (and any other encryptions), it has worked once or twice. I cannot remember if that was before or after the Hard-SPL and radio downgrade (to get it unlocked) but ever since that "beginners luck" connection, I have had no success with connecting these apps to internet through WIFI.
First of all, I cannot figure out why, but I can connect by
1/ GPRS (the only available here in Vietnam - no 3G /HSDPA yet),
2/ with open connection and no encryptions of any kind by the WIFI router, my WIFI and Raphael connects fine. Data transfer happens.
The reality is, it is not very realistic for me to ask all others at work to make their WIFI connection with no security or encryptions..
So, having explained the situation, in a nutshell, problem is that by enabling excryption like WEP, the connection does not allow me to use WIFI on my raphael.
Is this hardware or software on Raphael side? or is it WIFI router side?
Other devices, including my TyTn II connects fine with WEP, which rules out the router, right?
I cannot remember if the problem started before or after OliPro unlock...
If it worked before but not now, there is of course always the possibility of hardware mulfunction, but since it works with no encryption, I am guessing it is hardware?
I have gone to other WIFI networks that are healthy, with other hand held devices happily connected to WIF, but nope...not me...
Any ideas guys?
WRT54G2 Wireless_G Router
DHCP Enabled,
Wireless network mode is set at mixed (both G and B, but by the way, I have tried only G and only B too, with no luck)
Channel set at 1, SSID enabled.
WM 6.1
ROM 3.14.731.04 JPN
Radio 1.10 Olinex
Protocol 52.35.25.21H
AFAIK, Raphael connects to WEP, WPA, WPA2(TKIP/AES)...
did you try deleting all the wifi settings and reconnecting?
or hard reset?

I completely understand what you are going through & I am going to suggest something for you but the results might vary.
Make sure that Wi-Fi is turned off.
Open your Comm Manager | Settings | Wireless LAN.
When you're in the Wireless LAN Settings panel, select Power Mode.
Slide the selector to Best Performance.
Tap OK & when you're back in the Comm Manager, turn on the Wi-Fi adapter.
Setup your work connection & see if your internet connections work.
One thing to note, while this has resolved my connectivity problems, the settings are not always saved for some unknown reason.
So, be prepared to key in the settings again.
I resorted to everything , not leaving anything to chance, and did many things at once.
It is now fixed, it seems, but at great cost in terms of time, and I cannot be sure which one of these was actually helpful.
But I hard-reset the TP, as well as updating the firmware on both the modem and the WIFI router, and then did hard reset on them too...
I cannot judge on what turned out to be true on other peoples' TP, but for me at least, for both TyTn II and Touch Pro I am currently using, setting connection from "internet" to> "Work" did not help at all....
Thanks anyways...

[Q] Wifi Connection Problems - Vegan-Tab

Need a little help. My G-tab is running current VEGAn-TAB rom. I am having problems getting the wifi to actually connect. My icon shows a good signal, and inside the wireless settings I am showing connected to my wireless network. I also went to advance settings and made sure wifi never sleeps. All apps that need internet connection (market, browser, etc.) show no data connection.
Used yesterday with no problems. My laptop is running on same network and working fine.
Any ideas?
have you restarted? Sometimes happens to me too but it's nothing a simple restart can't fix.
Yes. Restarted several times. Didn't work.
Oddly enough I have a Airave from Sprint to boost my cell phone signal, and it may have been the problem. When I unplugged it and returned to my G-Tab later the Wifi was working. Not sure why.

My only guess is, if its a 5Ghz N Router you should check to see if it allows
2.4Ghz signals and not just 5Ghz. The GTAB doesn't seem to support connections at 5Ghz.
I just changed over from TNT Lite(latest version) and was able to connect fine but I didn't like the interface and some of the features. I've loaded Vegan tab 7.0.0 and I was able to connect at work (802.1 EAP) network but I can't connect to a wep wifi at home (were several other pc's are connected and working fine) and it stays on "obtaining ip address from ..." but never completes the connection. Any help?
I have a Linksys wrt300n router and have confirmed that it configured to accept 2.4Ghz & 5Ghz signal and have rebooted several times with no luck.
I don't have a lot to add to help you troubleshoot, but I can say that I am running VEGAn Gingerbread RC1 with pershoot's latest kernel. I am able to connect at home on a WAP2-PSK (Linksys Linux based G/N) at home, WAP2-PSK at the cabin (Linksys's cheapest G/N), and at work on a 802.1 EAP network (Cisco).
I has some unexplained issue mounting the internal storage on a computer. After a little head scratching, I started to wonder if it had something to do with the custom kernel I was running. I flashed Pershoot's latest kernel and my problems went away.
I mention all that to suggest that you might try flashing a different kernel and see if you get different results.
I have an issue with vegan where when i reboot the device (or turn off and turn on) wifi is off even if left on when turning off, i have to manually turn on wifi after every boot.

Have you checked to see if you're using MAC address filtering, and if so, that your gTab's MAC address has been added to the whitelist on the router? I get the feeling that that may be the issue. You have the WEP key on your device, but your router's still blocking it. I'm running the same ROM you are, and have had absolutely no troubles connecting to my work network with 802.1 PEAP, WPA/WPA2-TKIP and AES at home, and multiple makes/models of access points/routers.
Hmmm. Just reread your original. Now I'm wondering if you have enough DHCP leases available on your router. If you're out, you'll have to wait until a lease expires or add some more to your scope of addresses.
Hope some of that helped in some way...
