alternative roms - 1st task

in order to open up new rom options for apache, it seems that we will first need to find a way to do one of two things:
• find a way to make a bin dump of a DOC flash chip (apparently, tools like grab_it won't work on DOC flash).
• find a 'noID' update utility, or at least an update utility that allows a rom from one carrir to be installed on an apache from another carrier.
does anyone know if the bootloader can make a dump that can then be flashed to another device?
anyone have any ideas or knowledge to share?
lt seems as though a noID update utility that works on the apache will be a difficult tool to obtain, apparently due to the differences in rom structure in comparison to other phones.
Does anyone know how to use d2s to dump only the ce rom portion of the rom? Has anyone tried it on this phone? If so, any success flashing it back onto a phone?
does anyone have any information concerning the installation of roms from various carriers onto the apache.
anyone have any bin dumps from their apache that could be uploaded?
I can't be the only one with this phone who is interested in installing other roms.
I did some playing with itsutils pdocread and got some information out of the ROM, I have not had time to play further, however some commands I used:
Code:
C:\Temp\its\build>pdocread.exe -l

I then extracted the first part (which looks like a bootloader when I ran strings on the file) with this command:
Code:
pdocread -n 0 0 0xf0000 docbdk0.raw
The reason I think it is a bootload is because of strings like this:
Code:
SDRAM Frequency = %d MHz
Memory Frequency = %d MHz
Turbo = %d MHz, Run = %d Mhz

The second part I tried to extract like this:
Code:
pdocread.exe -h 0xb3f71212 0 0x4000000 foo.rom
This part looks like the kernel...
Thats all I have time for right now, hope that helps.

Problem installing itsutils.dll

Hi all,
I've searched and failed - I know the answer is in these forums, but I never seem to hit the right search string!
My goal is to put the HTC roms onto my Vodafone v1615 device. As a first step, I'd like to suck out the v1615 ROMS so that I can put them back in case anything goes seriously wrong.
Step 1 was to run pdocread, which copies itsutils.dll to the device. This failed.
I can see why it failed - it's because HKLM\Security\Policies\Policies\00001001 is 2 when I'd like it to be 1.
I can see the above as I've installed "Mobile Registry Editor", which runs on the PC and peeks down the wires at the device. However, it won't let me change the value as it says "Access Denied" when I try it.
So, what it comes down to is the following question:
Where can I find a registry editor for the Kaiser, preferably that will run on the device itself, that is able to change the above value?
Thanks for your help - I know this entire post shows me up as a complete newbie, but we all have to start somewhere...!
Cat
Ok, answered my own question (after lots more searching and failures)... Please add below if there are better answers than this one:
Install the .net compact framework from here: http://www.secondkiss.com/download/netcf/netcf.core.ppc3.arm.cab
Then install the registry editor from here: http://www.handango.com/PlatformPro...=96806&Ntt=registry&productId=160555&R=160555
You'll need to register with handango but it lets you download before receiving any confirmatory email.
I've now change the values and pdocread has produced some interesting looking numbers.
i have just read your posts, maybe we need a noobie guide, i'm still stuck with dumping my rom.

Unfortunately my laptop (where I am now) has the problem that the wireless network falls apart if I plug the 'phone' in. I did extract four files at work though, which look good. The first two numbers were the same as I've seen (pof's?) except there was obviously some 'borrowing' between parts 2 and 3 (part 2 was slightly smaller, part 3 was slightly larger) - I'll post the exact output tomorrow when I get back to work.
The main point though is that I've successfully produce the four .raw files. I'll continue on and report any major failings in case it helps anyone else!
Ok, this is the output from "pdocread -l" on a UK Vodafone v1615 (at least an early example and a 2GB card up it's bottom) along with the corresponding commands to read the four parts of the ROM:

Willing to dump 1.90.401.1 WWE / Radio 1.02.25.19, Need some help

Now I am not too sure this also includes the radio part.
How do I make sure that I dump all that is required to create a full RUU update?
And secondly how do I actually convert it into a working RUU_Signed.nbh for others to use?
Alternatively I can upload these files if they are useful to anyone.
Thanks!
Was just about to do this to my own Raphael, but seems you already did.
Please just upload the .raw's to RapidShare or similar!
Once there is an nbh of it available could we have it put into the WIKI PAGE please?
Would rebuild it myself but im on vacation at the mo.
As requested by Chainfire, I have uploaded the raw parts and the rebuilt NBH for the OS.

Dump ROM from Touch Pro?
Please, can you tell me, how Can I make dump of my ROM from Raphael? And if I dump it, is it possible to flash the "dumped" ROM back to the device?
HTC Touch Pro DUMP:
open a reg editor on your TP
change:
HKLM\Security\Policies\Policies
valuename '00001001'was set to dword:2, change it to dword:1
download itsutilsbin (http://www.xs4all.nl/~itsme/projects/xda/tools.html)
extract the zip file and open cmd in that folder
run (copy paste):
“pdocread.exe -l” (it’s the letter L not a 1)
you get something like:
Code:
457.75M (0x1c9c0000) [COLOR="orange"]DSK1:[/COLOR]
| 3.12M ([COLOR="red"]0x31f000[/COLOR]) Part00
| 4.50M ([COLOR="green"]0x480000[/COLOR]) Part01
| 126.50M ([COLOR="blue"]0x7e80000[/COLOR]) Part02
| 323.63M ([COLOR="purple"]0x143a0000[/COLOR]) Part03
7.61G (0x1e6e80000) DSK7:
| 7.60G (0x1e6a80000) Part00
.....
now run:
“pdocread -w -d DSK1: -b 0x800 -p Part00 0 0x31f000 Part00.raw”
“pdocread -w -d DSK1: -b 0x800 -p Part01 0 0x480000 Part01.raw”
“pdocread -w -d DSK1: -b 0x800 -p Part02 0 0x7e80000 Part02.raw”
“pdocread -w -d DSK1: -b 0x800 -p Part03 0 0x143a0000 Part03.raw”
notice the part before Part0X.raw is the same as you got with pdocread.exe –l, same for the name of the disk.
dumping part02 and 03 wil take some time. be patient.
thank you for your support. Is it possible to flash the dumped rom back? (I must create a backup of my original czech ROM, because we have integrated our language in system).
Is there any progress on the ROM dump? I need to flash my Raphael to the stock ROM to be able to send it to service center...

I already flashed that one, I'm just afraid the service center won't like the difference in numbers. So I wanted to be 101% sure...
Interesting.. it seems, that I have exactly same Raphael (same ROM and Radio version). I thought that there will be same hardware, but I am not sure about that anymore...

How is possible, that I have larger ROM with the same product? (I just never encountered with that)

Interesting.. it seems, that I have exactly same Raphael (same ROM and Radio version). I thought that there will be same hardware, but I am not sure about that anymore...

they are not real partitions... easy to change their size. they are all on the same flash chip. nothing to do with hardware.
just got my Touch Pro and wanted to make a dump of the danish rom on it.

ERROR: ITReadDisk : read 00000000 bytes - The storage control block address is i
nvalid.
The error i get when i create part03.raw, does it mean bad read from my phone ? and what can i do about it.
forgive my ignorance, this is my first dump
i will now try create part 3 again.
Edit
was i supposed to substitute these
| 3.12M (0x31f000) Part00
| 4.50M (0x480000) Part01
| 126.50M (0x7e80000) Part02
| 323.63M (0x143a0000) Part03
with the addresses of my own read.
if so then i feel stupid.
but if so why did i not get an error on part 02 ? the address differs here also
will now try with different addresses
Dumped part 02 and 03 again with the correct address and did not get any errors.
will now upload them to RS
Your part02 is wrong and 03 isn't working because those sectors you typed in are not the same as your rom gives with pdocread -l. You just copied someone else his sector size but yours are different. Change them and it will work.
Greets
well i did change them and it did work. and i posted the dumped rom, but thank you for the reply

download frauhottelmann's vox kitchen
copy the oem and sys folders
put the xip in a new folder called rom and follow the steps in the kitchen
i would strongly suggest you get a rom from the ftp
i too am from india and have the official htc rom from the ftp
if you yet insist i can even reupload but i dont think it makes sense
RUU_Vox_HTC_WWE_1.34.405.1_4.1.13.54_03.10.90_Ship.exe
this is the official rom and surely wont affect your warranty..i have used it with this rom

Part02. raw is the os. You may eventually need to dump XIP or other partitions. Do it the same way taking care to substitute Part02 and the correct length with whatever you need to dump.

Allright, man! You changed the right address. A difference in length between rom versions is perfectly normal.
Managed to create all 4 raw files for my IUSACELL ROM (already posted it here), but the 3rd actually timed out at 179 out of 300+ MB. I assume this is actually the free space from my phone, so it's not a big loss.
Can you confirm?
Thanks in advance.
